We walked in and it was busy as it was a Friday night. I walked up to waitress and asked how it worked and if it was open seating. I let her know it was two of us and she cleared a table for us. There seemed to be a two bartenders and a waitress working. We sat waited for a while and we ended up leaving. No menus no acknowledgment after she knew we had walked in and had been there for a while. She was at the table next to us talking to what seemed like a friend maybe, taking selfies. Both times I've been here have been great! They had some awesome Halloween decorations and recently went back for Christmas. I enjoy coming here because of the cozy seating, friendly service, and decent food offerings! The cocktail prices are pretty good at $15, but I was surprised at how expensive the wine was, averaging about $60 for a bottle. That said, we really enjoyed our obsidian wine. I've never been let down by the seasonal cocktails either. While I will always order the standout artichoke dip, I think the charcuterie board could be slightly improved. Different cracker choices, jam in its own separate pot, and maybe a dip/tapenade or something so the raw vegetables feel more cohesive would all be great. The service is fantastic though, and the host offered us extra crackers and jam when she saw we were out! read more

We stopped by recently to check out the pop up Austin Powers bar before they shut it down in August. I saw it advertised on a reel on IG. Basically the Bar was converted into a Shagadelic experience featuring Food and bevies gearing homage to the International Man of Mystery. Definitely picked the hottest day in the East Bay too arrive before they opened. The Bar opened at 4pm, but we go here a tad bit early so he hung outside until they opened. The patio had a few tables we could sit under the shade, Once we were able to go inside the Bar, Israel greeted us and took our drink order right away. Wifey had the Spicey Rita and I got the S'more Danger bevies which had Brandy, and Cream with a Graham cracker rim and a toasted Marshmallow. We were amazed how much work they put in the decor by the way the Br was decorated. The food was not ready to order right out the gate, but we were busy looking around at all the decor around the sitting area. We were able to order food once the cook arrived and we had added a One Billion Dollar Burger, Fembot Deviled Eggs; and ordered some Brushette. All the food was good and the drinks were great. What was an added bonus is that they had a Pet Adoption demo with dogs going on outside, and we met a few pooches from the event inside the Bar. "The Christmas Story" themed bar was decked out with holiday cocktails named after the movie, an array of movie and Christmas decor, movie memorabilia displayed, and a Christmas Story playing on one of the tv screens. We arrived shortly after opening and it wasn't crowded, as the evening progressed more patrons arrived. We had to leave early due to a party starting at 6. Shout out to Scott, the friendliest of bar tenders, who took care of me both visits. Epic decorations! They went all out for their holiday theme, based on "A Christmas Story." Vibe is cottage-core meets kitsch (in the best way). We ordered off their holiday menu and had a "It must be Italian" (riff off an aperol spritz) and Bo Ling Toddy (riff off a hot toddy). The Christmas Story vibe was great. We sat down, scanned the QR code to see the menu, ordered drinks and then said we are ready to order and were told 'we don't do food on Sunday'. Really? Would have been nice if we were told when we sat down or even when we ordered drinks. It says on our website we were told. No it doesn't! We've been to Cellar Door in Pleasanton a handful of times now and it's quickly become one of our go-to spots. Love the vibe here -- plenty of seating inside or out, and it's got that cool, relaxed energy that just makes you want to hang out. Perfect for date night or catching up with friends. The small plates are always fun to share, and pairing them with a glass of wine or a cocktail makes for an easy, enjoyable night. A couple of quirky things we've noticed: the staff isn't always super clear on the specialty cocktails (they sometimes seem a little unsure when asked about details), and the wine list could use a few more options on both the red and white side. Came here last night (Sunday) at 6pm but the doors were locked. There wasn't a special event going only a couple having a drink. The sign outside your door says you close at 8pm Sunday's. It was a great experience coming there to celebrate our dog's birthday. My family and I had a lot of fun drinking and enjoying the band. First off, the food was beyond amazing. Every single dish was perfect, especially the cheese fondue. That's my favorite! And it also helps that all the servers there were extremely polite and attentive to all our needs. None of them were rude or had a I don't care vibe. Each of them were very friendly and nice to my dog too. The food came fast too, which helps. Each of us also enjoyed the band, which we were lucky enough to arrive at the timing. So, all in all, great food, friendly service, and fun atmosphere. I came for dinner tonight at about 6:30pm. I had just arrived as my sister's drink was being brought to the table. What really decided this Yelp review was... when he brought the correct drink, my sister thought she heard him say: "I really don't have time for the two of you." To be fair, I didn't hear it... but if he did say this... What?? Seriously??? He said this because he brought one wrong drink to the table. What did we do to deserve that rude attitude? He didn't even talk to me once since I got there. What exactly was his problem? When he came back, he asked if we want anything else... No eye contact. Just impatiently asking (twice), while rolling his eyes at us. Ummm... I had just arrived... I didn't order anything yet and was looking at the menu. I said I wanted to get food and he immediately said that he was the only one working and the kitchen was closed (with some attitude). Of course, I quickly decided to not order anything. At that point, I just wanted to leave. I get that it was a busy night with the holidays approaching. I get his frustration if they were low on staff (I saw another waiter come about 15 minutes later, as my sister was finishing her drink... maybe he was on break? -- at least he was friendly!). I had a great time at the Cellar Door this week. They hosted a rotary group outdoors in the driveway and served food and drinks. I ate chicken tacos and they were pretty good. The staff was cool and helpful. One of the best things about the Cellar Door is it's location just off Main Street in Pleasanton. I look forward to visiting again. read more

I've been here a few times in the past (yrs ago) just so happen to be in Pleasanton one Saturday and decided to drop in for a casual light bite and I was so impressed with service, cocktails and food that I returned twice in 3 weeks. I had the espresso martini (please never take this off the cocktail list!) It's so darn good the bartender made it perfectly, you can actually taste the alcohol! Terry previously owned the Chicago Metropolitan Grill in Pleasanton for 8 years, but she always wanted to host a wine and tapas bar. She and husband, Scott Terry can be found here nightly, engaging the guests and serving unique pairings of world-class wines with cheese plates. Sherrie ordered the flight of "three chardonnay wines": 2015 Balletto, 2014 Testarossa, and 2016 Hartford. (Russian River and Santa Lucia Highlands. I ordered the flight of "wines from Spain and Italy": 2017 Columna Albarino, 2016 Scarbolo Friulano, and 2016 Alois Pallagrello Bianco. WOW... paired this with the Charcuterie cheese plate (with 3 Italian sliced meats) ...and this wine bar experience was Over-The-Top! BTW: these folks know their wines! I came in with a few friends after my birthday dinner on a Thursday night, and it was one of the few places in Pleasanton that didn't feel totally dead. We ordered a mix of cocktails, wine and wine flights, and all were great and reasonably priced. The bartender came over to tell us the kitchen was closing in case we wanted food, and my friend asked if they had any desserts to celebrate my birthday. They didn't, but he mentioned that they wanted to bring back a partnership with Primrose Bakery down the street. A short while later, he came to our table with a few desserts on a plate. He had actually GONE to Primrose (a few blocks away) and bought the desserts for us, and served them on the house for my birthday!
