Such a disappointing and unwelcoming experience at First Street Wine Co. We got tickets on Eventbrite for a live music night and were looking forward to a fun evening, but right from the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcome. We sat down, unsure of whether to order at the bar or wait for someone to come to our table. I decided to go to the bar, while my partner stayed seated. However, in both instances, no one acknowledged us - no eye contact, no greeting, nothing. We waited around for a few more minutes, hoping someone would notice us, but eventually, we gave up and decided to leave. We went next door to the Fat Pigeon bar, where we were immediately greeted, welcomed warmly, and had a fantastic evening with great drinks, snacks, and friendly service. It's unfortunate because we had planned to purchase tickets for the upcoming caviar and champagne night and the Pinot noir tasting, but after this experience, we're glad we didn't. We were there last Saturday for 2 wine tastings which was 4 tiny sips of wine each. At check out, the bill showed $40 and I left a $4 tip so the total bill was $$44.xx. Somehow by the time it hit my bank account it is now showing $50.72. I phoned them yesterday and was told they subsequently added tax and other fees. I told him he can't add more to my signed receipt because I agreed to pay what I signed for, I did not agree to allow them to add more to my signed amount. Is this even legal??? If they did forget something (which is not the case) that's not on me. He promised a review and a call back but nothing. read more

What a great find! An almost hidden gem near the fountain in Livermore. So much selection within these walls. The ladies/proprietors were lovely and knowledgeable. Real team players, hooked us up with service from Strizzi's and we enjoyed a nice evening out. Very generous wine flight pors- shared with husband and didn't feel cheated. We chose a bottle of The First Street Cab, at $30 per bottle it was a steal. Truly tasted much more expensive. Don't you just love when that happens? A great selection of wines. An easy to navigate store. Wine tasting for only $10., gourmet picnic supplies and more. It was fate, that is what it was. After getting a great lesson in all-that-is-wine from my father at an Italian restaurant, we walk past this wine shop which was located only a few doors down. I've never known anything about Livermore's wine production, but the center isle as you walk in to the market is dedicated to local talent. If Livermore's wine is half as cool as their fun downtown walks, they are definitely worth a try. A refrigerated area to your left sells stinky French cheeses (my favorite kind) charcuterie, and the perfect picnic basket fillers to accompany your bottle selections. To the right of the market as you walk in, sits a bar with chairs available to those who want a tasting experience. A shelf to the rear of the market dedicates a section to South American reds, my favorites reds. The rear of the store, Italy, Germany and France. All your bases are covered. My favorites were in the chill section just past the tasting bar. The sweet stuff. Alsatian ice wine only $22. was a must for me. I didn't see any ridiculous bargains here. There were many modest priced bottles, some moderately priced, and some overpriced. To be honest, I've seen a few of the varieties at a lower price sold by Trader Joe's. Note: This is the perfect locally owned shop for your wine needs and wine tastings! I believe in keeping things local. I would rather purchase wine at wineries or local shops like this. That being said, with the sublime Livermore wine valley in the background, this is the perfect place to grab some bottles from local wineries. But, if you want to go larger regionally, they have plenty of other semi local (Napa, Sonoma, etc) and international choices. I grabbed a Spanish wine there for a steal of a deal. Aside from just purchasing wine here to take home, they also have a menu for tastings (and a few choices, white, red, Livermore, etc) or by the glass to enjoy in the shop or on the patio out front. The patio is actually a perfect spot to people watch and there is a perfect backdrop with the fountain, grass, and flagpole at the heart of downtown Livermore. The shop is petite, charming, and warmly inviting. There is a refrigerator with some cheeses, charcuterie, beer, etc and the walls are lined with wine shelves. Linda was there when I was in and literally could not have been nicer. I should go here more often. They are a very nice, chill wine bar that has $5 drinks during their happy hours. They definitely have happy hours on Friday nights, but you'll have to check whether they also have them on Thursdays. I also had my second, impromptu 40th birthday party here in August 2018. They were nice enough to let me bring in my galette des rois to share amongst my friends. Written up on the chalkboard, the tastings change daily, and you can choose from a flight of Livermore wines, Premium wines, or red or white wines. Each flight has 4 wines and the pours are typically very generous! They sell everything you need to make a cheese plate, but you can also bring in food from Strizzi's next door if you need something more substantial. Joined 1st wine company with previous owners just over a year ago, they were very gracious and engaging everytime we went in. The new ownership group, not so much. We belong to several other wine clubs here in Livermore and Napa. We always get consideration (free wine tasting) at every other wine club winery, but not here. My wife and I enjoy the win tasting experience and love the social aspect of it. However our latest experience the new owner was very disappointing. He was not very friendly and failed to provide proper discription of the wine tasting flights we paid full price for. We also found a couple of the wine club monthly wines at Bevo at much better price.. If you enjoy the downtown Livermore experience, ok. But, don't join, no benefit. read more

I hadn't been in for a long, long time. I went in on Saturday and did a tasting. The woman working was very friendly and welcoming. The other customers were great. It had a real hometown feeling to it. The tasting was fairly priced and excellent. I ended up buying a bottle of Papillon that was not part of the tasting but caught my eye as well as a cigar. I'll come back and check out the clubs. I'd say that if you haven't been in the shop for a while (I was last in 4 years ago!), give it another try. Great atmosphere and fair prices. read more

Cute little wine bar in Downtown Livermore. When my friend and I stopped in a girl was performing cover songs with her keyboard. She had a great voice. You can also try some local and not so local wines here. Not sure how the pricing is since, we stopped in to say hi to friends. First Street Wine Company is so cute and has so many wine selections as well as great service. We came in on Saturday and had Sam serving us, she was so attentive and let us taste whatever we wanted. They also had live music which really made it a great social outing with friends on a Saturday night. I tried both the sparkling rosè and their sparkling white and I enjoyed both. All of my friends enjoyed their wine as well! They also offer beer for those who don't like wine. It is $10 for a flight or a tasting of 4 wines which is normal for the area.
