The experience begins in a small glass-enclosed entryway where you're greeted before the hostess is notified by radio. Moments later, the glass door opens, revealing a beautifully designed speakeasy with an elegant yet inviting atmosphere. The space offers comfortably spaced bar seating, cozy booths, and tables, all surrounded by tasteful décor that perfectly captures the speakeasy era while incorporating subtle honeycomb-inspired touches. The spirit selection is impressive, and the appetizer menu is thoughtfully curated. Their specialty cocktails are creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. We sat at the bar, where our mixologist, Kalika B, was both personable and professional. I always enjoy sitting at the bar when the bartender is willing to share their craft, and Kalika did exactly that. She explained the story behind several of their custom cocktails, the history of some of their spirits, their signature custom ice program, and offered excellent appetizer recommendations. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience even more enjoyable. The entire space was spotless and clearly designed with great attention to detail. It filled up quickly after opening, so I was glad we arrived when we did. Despite the growing crowd, there appeared to be plenty of staff, and the service remained attentive without ever making guests feel rushed. There is only one restroom, but during our visit it was never an issue, and there was no wait. I've been chasing speakeasies for more than 20 years, long before they became as popular as they are today. Whenever I travel, I make it a point to seek out a local speakeasy, so I've experienced quite a few over the years. Honeycomb ranks near the top of my list. It's the perfect size--not too small and not too large--with an outstanding selection of spirits, exceptional craft mocktails, knowledgeable mixologists who truly know their craft, and cocktails tailored to your palate. The atmosphere is elegant yet approachable, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality of the experience. I loved it so much that I immediately ordered a second one. I would honestly come back just for this drink alone. Honeycomb After Dark (9/10): Such a fun twist on an espresso martini! It reminded me of a Vietnamese coffee with a boozy kick. As the ice cream melted, the drink became even creamier and more delicious. Gin & Tonic (6/10): I'm not personally a gin and tonic fan, but my sister really enjoyed it. She thought the ratio of gin to tonic was spot on. Fries (6/10): Super crispy with a great texture, but they were a little too salty for my taste. The only downside is that there's only one bathroom, so keep that in mind if it's busy. If you're looking for a great spot to grab drinks in downtown, I highly recommend this speakeasy. At one point I used their self-pour beer wall and poured myself half a Modelo only for it to come out warm I was able to find another beer that was actually cold... but still charged for the warm one. The food was somehow even worse. We ordered the barbacoa nachos, wedge salad, and a kids burger with fries. The kids burger was the only edible thing. The wedge salad was drowning in ranch like someone emptied the whole bottle on it. Tomatoes tasted old and gross. Then came the nachos... tiny portion, bland chips, barely any cheese, no mango salsa like the menu claimed, and the "barbacoa" -- if you could even call it that -- was tough, fatty, and completely inedible. $74 later for one appetizer, one salad, one kids meal, and 1 1/2 beers. We only tipped because we felt bad for the server. We will NEVER be back. Thanks for ruining our Mother's Day dinner.

The hostess did not acknowledge us nor said anything. Awhile after that I counted 3 different groups leaving - a tota of 8 people. We waited patiently and kept waiting thinking we would be seated. 20 minutes slowly pass by, then another 5, then another 5.. I looked over and saw two tables completely empty. I was literally outside the door after about 45inutes and my phone buzzed. Come to find out that they had 3 open tables available the entire time. The decor is tiki themed along with the drinks however the music playing in the background was jazz. Not sure how that fits the theme. Also, the drinks averaged about $20 and small bites and desserts ranged from $13-$20. I'm torn about wanting to return here.

We wanted to give the place a try since changing from Aviation to Azotea. We were seated outside on the rooftop and, as always, to view is awesome and the weather was perfect for outdoor dining. We ordered waters, a couple cocktails, an appetizer and 2 entrees. The cocktails came out fairly quickly and were really tasty - Passion fruit margarita & a Spritz! No glasses of water came out with the drinks, as requested. Our appetizer (Ceviche) came out shortly after and was REALLY good! It was my favorite item of the evening. We asked again for some water. After a few minutes our entrees arrived (fish tacos & grilled skewers). My hubby enjoyed the tacos. My skewers were so-so. I got 2 veggie skewers & 1 beef skewer. The beef was burnt to a crisp. The end pieces were literally like dry jerky! The middle pieces were tolerable, but still very well done. The veggies were ok. They are marinated in what looks like a pesto sauce but was pretty bland. Not bad, but not great. The plate comes with cilantro lime rice and mango salsa. The rice was bland and they are very skimpy on their serving of mango salsa, which was the only thing on that plate with good flavor! We ate and our cocktails long gone. No wait staff came to check on us and we were still waiting on our waters. Finally we flagged down our waitress to ask AGAIN for 2 glasses of water and our check. She returns a few mins later with the bill, AND NO WATER!!! How hard is this??? All in all, food was ok, drinks good but the service and wait staff are TERRIBLE!! Makes me wonder if they kept the same staff as they did at Aviation because they had the same crappy service?!! Update: ask around Livermore bars & even Livermore PD and they'll tell you about this place. Cover your drinks ladies. Horrible service, disturbed owner Theresa, incredibly disgusting chef named Margarita.. women are not safe here. And Theresa will blame you if staff is caught being inappropriate. They encourage staff here to be rude to customers. They also randomly charge extra if you have a big party, which is normal but they don't always do that which makes it ridiculous when you hear it's an extra $100 for 10 people. Their menus are disgusting and always have food all over them/sticky. They do not clean their bathrooms (they only have 1 so imagine how gross that gets). It's such a waste of money to spend here when you consider places like The Black Cat and others are just down the street. Better food, drinks, service, and no creeps bringing you your food. It's no wonder they changed their restaurant name. read more

Our experience at Azotea was extremely disappointing. The service was very poor and the staff, including both the server and the host, were unfriendly. We placed a simple drink order of one iced tea and a glass of wine, but it took 15 minutes just to receive the wine, and we never got the iced tea. We were visiting with a friend from Livermore, CA, and expected better service, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy. After waiting over an hour for our food, I went inside to check on our order. When I asked for a manager, the server informed me that they had "just stepped out," but I could see the server at the bar casually chatting with the bartender. The lack of attentiveness and long delays were completely unacceptable. I will never be returning to Azotea again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for good service or a pleasant dining experience. read more

Let me start by saying: we were denied entrance and never made it past the bouncer. This place has changed to a Mexican restaurant. My friends and I went on last night around 9, we heard the music and wanted to check it out. Upon the elevator opening, we are asked for our ID. My mom (in her 50's) was cracking jokes about how she's obviously over 21 and he was not sociable. He just kept saying "well I need to see it." My friend did not have her ID, but did have her passport. She asked if she could use that instead. He said no. We have NEVER experienced that before. Very rude. I also noticed that he asked a few women for their IDs on their way OUT the door and didn't want them to leave without checking it..... what?! The whole time the hostess said nothing at all. Finally having good weather, we were not able to enjoy any of our establishments near the Bankhead due to the incredible loud music being poured onto the street from Azotea. I'm surprised no other business made a complaint that their patios were empty because their amplified music was so loud it made difficult to hold a conversation with other people within a 100 yards of Azotea. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the company of others, I would not recommend this establishment. This newly rebranded restaurant is impacting the quality of their neighbors and downtown as a whole. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with the security guard on two separate occasions . Once with a small group of girls and the other with a couples group. Instead of being professional and helpful, the guard was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. We were met with a hostile attitude and unprofessional behavior that made the situation uncomfortable. I hope management addresses this issue and reminds their staff about the importance of professionalism, respect, and proper customer interaction. No one should have to deal with that kind of treatment. read more

The espresso martini served was nowhere close to what you would expect from a proper cocktail. The Don Julio Reposado shots were significantly more expensive than what you would typically find even at upscale bars in San Francisco. Service was also quite slow, the bartenders appeared to be delegating drink preparation among themselves, which led to long wait times. I came here with my girlfriends for a night out. We're all in our late 20s. I didn't have my drivers license, BUT I had my passport. They would not take my passport and would not let me enter. Every other bar/ restaurant I've ever been to lets you use a passport. I'm a certified beverage server myself, and I know we can accept passports. The bouncer wouldn't let us in. The owner was incredibly gracious and offered us the entire facility for our private use on a day they are normally closed. Next up was line dancing led by Rhonda, whose instructions were so clear that both seasoned dancers and complete novices had an absolute blast learning new moves. After working up an appetite, we enjoyed a flawless and plentiful buffet dinner featuring juicy Tri-Tip sandwiches, roasted corn salad, chili, and thick fried potatoes. Stampede were also happy to provide veggie burgers upon request. The Stampede staff went above and beyond all night--they helped us set up a slideshow presentation on the monitors, gave great advice on timing our celebratory toast, and seamlessly cut the cake for service. The entire staff is awesome, but a massive shout-out goes to our waitress, Ashley--she was fantastic and provided incredible service throughout the entire night! We ordered a wide variety of dishes to share, and every single one was a hit: * Fritto Marechiaro: A wonderful mix of fresh calamari, jumbo prawns, sliced zucchini, and artichoke hearts. Everything was fried to a light, crispy perfection and paired wonderfully with the signature Locanda Capri sauce. * Pane e Olive: Crisp, fresh baguette from local Wingen Bakery served alongside Locanda's classic olive tapenade. Rich, savory, and the perfect starter bite. * Fiori di Zucca: Delicate zucchini blossoms stuffed with creamy ricotta and mozzarella, served over a rich marinara sauce. The experience begins in a small glass-enclosed entryway where you're greeted before the hostess is notified by radio. Moments later, the glass door opens, revealing a beautifully designed speakeasy with an elegant yet inviting atmosphere. The space offers comfortably spaced bar seating, cozy booths, and tables, all surrounded by tasteful décor that perfectly captures the speakeasy era while incorporating subtle honeycomb-inspired touches. The spirit selection is impressive, and the appetizer menu is thoughtfully curated. Their specialty cocktails are creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. We sat at the bar, where our mixologist, Kalika B, was both personable and professional. I always enjoy sitting at the bar when the bartender is willing to share their craft, and Kalika did exactly that. She explained the story behind several of their custom cocktails, the history of some of their spirits, their signature custom ice program, and offered excellent appetizer recommendations. There is only one restroom, but during our visit it was never an issue, and there was no wait. I've been chasing speakeasies for more than 20 years, long before they became as popular as they are today. Whenever I travel, I make it a point to seek out a local speakeasy, so I've experienced quite a few over the years. Honeycomb ranks near the top of my list. It's the perfect size--not too small and not too large--with an outstanding selection of spirits, exceptional craft mocktails, knowledgeable mixologists who truly know their craft, and cocktails tailored to your palate. They make their own tortillas. And the menu is straight forward. They have a nice bar area and televisions so you can watch sports but not get blinded by too many televisions. Also, no offers of Parmesan or pepper for anything. The food was a far cry from previous times we've been. They ran out of their specials before 6pm. Their minestrone soup was served tepid and was not minestrone - rather a garbanzo bean soup with 2 tiny cubes of carrot and broth with no flavor. The garlic bread was not fresh and burnt. The "fettuccini bolognese" was subpar - extra thick egg noodle with marinara that tasted like it'd come out of a can and browned meat. We skipped dessert and went straight home. Very sad to see this restaurant go downhill.
