Went to Aztec Brewery in Vista on Friday evening (last night). It was fantastic. The beer was cold and plentiful. My favorite was the El Dorado (Aztec Blond). They were serving the new Chipotle IPA beer as well that Claudia (one of the owners crafted). I heard lots of good reviews around me about that beer. I originally had the 4 beer sampler. Prices are very reasonable. The place had a really good vibe. Definitly worth checking out. Next week they are going to be serving Eclipse (Chocolate Porter) for the first time. Will I be back? You bet!! Love this new place. A perfect North County hangout and really good beer. They also had pretzels to snack on and Giavanni's was on site serving pizza. read more

Customer service is very bad. They don't say hello nor help you out if your a new customer. They rather serve their personal friends first and you last. My neighbor brews better beer in his kitchen then they do. read more

This is one more example of a wonderful Vista CA brewery. This is absolutely the most unique brewery I've ever visited. On top of great beer and friendly staff, the open mic sessions in a laid back environment are worth the visit. read more

This place feels like your friend from high school's garage that turned into a hangout spot. The beers were good, but the standouts are their fruity options. All of those were great. The owners were there and really friendly, talking to us about San Diego's brewery history which was cool. I also had my share of their free pretzels, gotta appreciate anyone who provides snacks. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for breweries in the area. read more

The Chipotle IPA and Sacrifice are my two favorite choices from Aztec. If you haven't tried this spot you definitely need to. I haven't been out on Thursdays too often, but the times I have gone the open mic night is fun to hangout at. I mostly like going in during the afternoon on weekends and enjoying a few rounds or filing my growlers and watching some baseball. read more

Hidden in the back of an industrial park next to what used to be Indian Joe's world class beer heaven. Weaker attempt at interior decorating, open air with tables to sit at unlike some tasting rooms. Around 10-12 house beers on tap. Quality was average to above average. Lots of tap only stuff only with tap versions of what is easily found in bombers around the area. Wasn't so busy when I was there. Seems like Mexican flavors are their theme but very few beers followed through on that theme so I'm not sure what the deal is. They had a very good quality Vietnamese food truck there, which was a welcome relief from the other tasting rooms with no such symbiosis. I love finding little gems like this! I had good time tonight, on a weekday, and last minute invite. I have a passion for beer and comfort and this place has it. It has an Aztec decor as portrayed on their name. The El Dorado Blonde is a good light beer to start off with if you're not too sure what you like in a flavor. I recommend the Hibisucs Wheat, Chipotle IPA and the Habernero, lime on nitro for something unique. Great ambience, open mic on Thursdays and great food truck option. Check this place out! read more

Attended "soft" opening of Aztec on Sat 8/27/11. Beers were cold and plentiful. A bit crowded most of the day, but everyone seemed in good spirits. Owners were there on-site and working behind the bar most of the day. Rob, John and Claudia are good folks and will add to the North County's many good places to learn about and enjoy craft beers. Beer available in pints, halves and flights of tasters, but they plan on starting growlers shortly. My personal favorite was the Bitter Brit, followed closely by the Aztec Wheat. It was nice to visit on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't too busy. There weren't too many choices, but at the same time it was nice to not be bombarded with too many choices. I did really like their Hibiscus Wheat - it had a really good flavor to it and wasn't overpowering. I couldn't taste the pepper in the Chipotle IPA, so I passed on it. The chocolate stout tasted like any other choco stout, and the Red IPA was okay. I love supporting the local breweries, but Aztec didn't wow me too much. I'd go back for the Hibiscus Wheat, but nothing else. read more

I got a little lost my first Time here but was eventually able to find it in the back of the industrial park. It's a nice small little place with a sweet bar in some regular sitting tables. I ended up trying the hibiscus wheat and agave wheat. I think I like the hibiscus wheat the best. They had a couple other beers on tap such as IPAs or stouts but I didn't try any of them. They also have awesome bar pretzels. Pretty decent brewery to try out if you are brewery hopping down Hop Highway. read more

I am a new fan of this brewery. I didn't have the chance to try a flight but we purchased a bottle of the Chipotle IPA and Noches de los Muertos (Imperial Stout). I'm a stout drinker and their stout is one of my favorites in north county. The service is friendly and the prices are good. read more

My friends live just down the street from this place and we got to hop around a couple breweries. Aztec was the best. Great little brewery with awesome beer. Noche de Los muertos was delicious - I took a growler home (even though it was the pricey one:). We got a taster and tried 4 others as well. The stout was definitely great also. Amazing beer! The Hibiscus Wheat is so light and delicious, perfect for Spring and Summer warm days. For a cooler nighttime, the "Mole" ( a mixture of chocolate and chile) will have you warmed up in no time. AWESOME staff, the owners are amazingly and very friendly! read more

A little hard to find, tucked in the back of an industrial business park, but worth it. They had some really unique offerings when we were there. The tasting room bar is small, so push yourself to the front, get your beers and then stand around one of the barrels that serve as tables. No food, no frills, just good beer. Before today, I had never heard of Aztec Brewery. My wife and I took a bicycle tour of the Vista brewery scene and found this on the map. We're so glad we decided to try it, because it was the best brewery we tried! Had a flight and the Macaroon, Coffee Blonde, and Hibiscus all had fantastic and unique flavor without tasting syrupy or too sweet like a lot of flavored beers do. The place was pretty much dead on a Saturday afternoon, but we didn't mind. Service was friendly and they had free chips. read more

We went to Aztec Brewery over the weekend. Several of the beers I wanted to try were out due to an art show they had going on. (The art was very cool and a bonus to check out!) I liked the Chipotle IPA and the Pale, however, some beers started to taste alike and we couldn't tell which was what. I like barley wine a lot but I didn't enjoy it here, it was too sweet for me, possibly from the whiskey barrel it was in, and I am more of a bourbon barrel fan. With all the great little new breweries here in N. County its hard to keep them straight. I like the selection of beers here - something for everyone here. A little tough to find the first time. Came in on a Friday night and a live band was playing. So. Good. I had their sour, which is now one of my favorites. It wasn't too sweet like most sours. It was mild but still full-bodied. I'm not making a review on the brewery as a whole, simply on one of their brews. I had the pleasure of having a few pints of their Aztec Chipotle IPA at Sublime Ales House recently and this was a sweet brew. If you drink it like a regular beer you will think it is a good IPA. If you pay a bit of attention to it you'll notice a small "bite" to it as it flows out of your mouth and down to your tummy. I wouldn't call it spicy, just a quick bite of chipotle. I am actually not a huge fan of chipotle but I do like spice. I'll have to plan a trip to the brewery one day. read more

Wow, this place is amazing. Honestly I my self am a huge fan of IPA's. This place takes IPA's and kicks them in the ass by adding Chipotle peppers. Both the Chipotle IPA and Chipotle XXX IPA are outrageous. They have another great beer for those that are not the fondest of hoppiness. The Hibiscus Wheat is amazing, full flavored and upfront. A great choice to just sit back and relax. My fiance and my self came here with a groupon so most of our beer was paid for but I can't just go to a great brewery and walk away with out throwing them some funds. So I bought a 22 oz Bomber of both the Chipotle IPA and the Hibiscus Wheat. This place is a treat for beer lovers! read more

My reviews are always short. My Hibiscus Wheat was excellent. My Hubble had the Hop Serpent and enjoyed it. I thought it was ok but I am not a "hoppy" person. Found it a little difficult to find but definitely with the effort. read more

Very good beer AND music on those designated nights.... It is true the music can be loud but it is very often good! It is a mixed bag on open mic night but is normally of a decent standard. I always have an absolute blast whenever I come to Aztec! It's not just a brewery, but also an awesome intimate music venue that hosts bands from both local and national areas. They host an Open Mic every Thursday which draws upon a ton of local talent that I would have never known existed. The beer itself is top notch - Macaroon Nut Brown is my fav, but the Coffee Blonde, and Hibiscus also are quite exquisite. Some out of town guests wanted to visit some of our local breweries to sample some beer. I mapped out a list of breweries in the San Marcos/Vista area that we could hit up all in one afternoon. Aztec Brewery was the 4th brewery on the list. Most of the beer was good, no problem drinking any of them. The Aztec Sacrifice was Terrific! One of my favorite beers of the day. The atmosphere at the brewery is very relaxed and comfortable. May be a little small if there are a lot of people there. We were there on a Thursday and there was a catering truck set up serving some delicious mexican food. A perfect pairing for this style of beer. This brewery is somewhat hidden in the back of the business park, but there is plenty of parking and their prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend visiting Aztec Brewery. read more
