I will not be returning to Aztec Vet. My experience has been frustrating because I feel like I'm constantly being told different things by different people. One visit I'm told what's wrong with my dog, and then later it's presented as something completely different without a clear explanation. Instead of leaving with confidence, I leave feeling confused. One experience that really stood out was when the veterinarian said my dog's skin was glowing under the light because of ringworm. She told me she was showing me, but moved the light so quickly that I never actually saw what she was referring to. When I said I didn't see anything, I still wasn't given a clear explanation. It left me feeling like I was expected to just accept what I was being told without understanding it. Communication has also been very inconsistent. I've had about four different staff members give me different answers about how many DAPP vaccines my dog needed. When I explained that my dog had already received the previous doses and only needed one more, I was simply told, "Well, that's up to the vet." It's expected that the staff should have consistent information, but that doesn't seem to happen. Overall, I feel like communication is poor and concerns aren't taken seriously and they try to milk you for money. Because of these experiences, I've decided to take my dogs elsewhere for future care. Please be very vigilant and pay attention to how they respond because I caught on. read more

I came in to Aztec with a very sick cat today. the amount of care they gave 1/3 of my heart blew me away. they got us in so quick and were even on standby to take him inside. Aztec has been our vet for the past 10 years for our Great Pyrenees mix. They have always been welcoming, professional and listen to me and the concerns with our dog. We've seen different doctors and technicians and I cannot say anything negative about them. This clinic has been on a total decline of proper care of pets, it's all about the upselling of lab tests, food allergies (expensive food sales), incompetence of the vet techs (which are not licensed) and probably underpaid being TX does not require a so called Tech to be licensed!!!!! They can give your pet vaccinations without any education or experience as long as the vet is on the premises......hmmmm. Should a pet not be examined prior to vaccinations being administered? Ms. Emily you can answer and reply to every comment on here, dismiss owners from care that give true facts of the events, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY IN THE EXAM ROOMS DUE TO THEM RECORDING EVERY ROOM WITHOUT POSTING THAT THE ROOM IS RECORDED AND MONITORED. Avoid at all costs. Incompetent vets, rude and very unprofessional staff, scamming with money and some safety issues all around. Most other vets have higher reviews, and I've had two other highly rated vets confirm to us that they know if their reputation and even have to fix things Aztec messes up!! Don't be fooled by the slightly lower costs, it's a ploy and you won't get the treatment needed having you have to pay more for their incompetence. Judy is a huge problem. I have senior dog named Olive. I brought her in for her annual exam and with being 10 years old, we decided to run a senior dog blood panel on her. She came back with a couple abnormal readings on her blood results and she was taken care of immediately and is doing very well. I just wanted to say thank you to Aztec Pet Hospital and especially Dr. Cabral for saving my babies life. I am from a small town in the valley where my Chrystal was misdiagnosed for several months. When I moved to Temple i immediately took her to Aztec and Dr Cabral where she was diagnosed with valley fever, pneumonia and several joint issues related to the Valley fever. If it were not for their tireless efforts to help my baby she would be gone. Now she is happy and healthy again and I owe it all to Aztec. this vet office is not only professional but they genuinely care for your animals. i set up an appointment to check and see if my cat was okay to be spayed and they paid so much attention to every detail, asked me every question imaginable to ensure her safety and wellbeing, and informed me of absolutely everything that would happen as well as aftercare. she got surgery a couple days ago and we were provided pain medicine for 10 days, 6 cans of gut healthy soft food, and a cone and collar for her that she doesnt seem to mind. my baby is still just as sweet and doesnt even act like a bunch of strangers just cut her open i added an old picture of her and her brother cuddling just for the cuteness :) read more

My dog got a skin infection from Thai place! Never go here ever ! The owner EMILY is a liar and refused service to me and my animal when they did not want to take care of a skin infection that was caused by them! My dog went under a procedure to get teeth pulled that same day she developed a skin issue. I told them that her back was red and it hurts her from there I had to bring her every other day. Now it has gotten worse and they take no RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS! Dr. K doesn't even know 'how this happened when they saw her every other day' they even had the audacity to call me and my mom liars. They deserve no stars Don't bring your pet here if you love them!! Since I can't reply to the owner that stated we yelled and verbally abused a 'doctor' and 'staff' I just want to add that it's crazy that your lying even more when that never happened. Aztec is an amazing vet practice, it's the only place I trust for my pets to get the best care. You can tell from when you walk in what a positive environment they help create! Kryselda was my vet tech and for my anxious pups she takes her time and makes sure they're not scared. She gave me all the info I asked for and more and was so helpful with all my questions. We saw Dr.Kegan his tech Britany and they were wonderful as well, he explained everything in a way I understood and took amazing care of my dogs in all visits we've had! Zero stars. I called and set up an appointment for 3:00 PM. I got there around 2:45 PM. I checked in and sat down then they called the 330 appointment 345 appointment then 4 o'clock appointment. So I went up to the counter and I asked the lady if they forgot about me because my appointment was set up to be at 3 PM and everybody was passing me. The lady behind the counter told me some bullshit so I decided to take my money and leave. They wrote it down on my notes that I'm not allowed to be service anymore at their business. #Fuckthem you just lost a loyal customer. boycott this business everybody look for another pet hospital FUCK Aztec! read more

This vet hospital has gone downhill in the last few years. They are all about the money. Before they will even see your pet, you have to pay money upfront to even get an appointment. It's become about the money not the care for your loved animal. I've received sub par care. The care plans for my animals, I came up with after researching what my animals had. They are pulling through so I spent $1,500 there for nothing from them. They wanted me to bring a stressed out kitten in again when they had already seen the kitten 3 times and knew what she had. I did take her to an emergency care clinic as I really wanted help with my little girl. They explained a great deal more than the vet clinic had and helped me with a continuing plan of care. I've been dealing with sick kittens for 2 weeks with around the clock care and I didn't need rude flack from the vet's administration when I was exhausted and stressed to the max. I will say the vet techs at Aztec are very nice. Emily's reply is very misleading as I never threatened to smear them. I posted a review that keeps with how I was treated and she forgets to mention their $85 dollar emergency care per animal that I paid multiple times. I don't know why she actually thought I'd ever go back to them for care! I was never rude to anyone nor did I ever make unreasonable requests. read more

Recently we decided to change vets as our current vet's office kept raising their prices. I contacted 4 vet offices including our current one asking for a break down of prices. 3 responded, (not the one we had gone to for 2 years). Emily at Aztec wrote back a 3 page e-mail with prices and suggestions---AND their prices were lower than we had been paying. But MOST important was the care, compassion, and patience they gave to each of our dogs. Dr. Kuczek was thorough, patient, and answered all our questions. The young ladies who assisted were even patient and kind to our neurotic dog who has to be held down for EVERY procedure. The entire staff was everything we had been missing. Coming from a different vet and them being completely rude and unprofessional my husband and i felt we needed to NOT let our dog be in their care. They wanted $3000 for a surgery that they weren't even sure of. Coming here was the best choice we made. They welcomed us with open arms and our vet was Dr.Keegan (Great btw) This place is also affordable and very reasonable. After test and x rays my showed he was okay but not out of the woods. We were prescribed many medications for our pup and our dog was continuing to throw up. After another blood test the results came back as Acute Kidney Failure. He said there's a small chance but there's still hope, Our vet didn't give up... Now after many medications and prescription food my dog came back to himself. Dr.Keegan was in complete shock after seeing his final blood results. His whole career he has never seen such record blood levels like my Nikos and to see him bounce back was remarkable! I've heard great things about this place from a good friend so when I finally needed a vet to start the process of PCSing a pet to Hawaii I chose this place. Flexibility: I rescheduled Hina's appointment once and they were very flexible on time as long as you are scheduling it a week out. Wait Time: The wait to be seen is LONG! On two different appointments I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment time and I've waited waiting 15 minutes after the appointment. The last appointment was at 9:40am for a health certificate for the airlines and I didn't leave the office until 11:30pm. Staff: There are a lot of people working in the back and usually only two ladies in the front. They seem to be always busy at any given time. I don't know if they are scheduling too many appointments around the same time or the fact that they take walk ins as well that keeps them always busy and never on schedule. I think they need to hire more staff to accommodate pets or schedule less appointments. Service: My dog had her blood drawn for the FAVN test, tested for heart worm, Frontline treatment, health certificate for airlines and treatment for ear infection. Overall, I like the vet, staff and office! I just do not like the long wait. read more

There is no misunderstanding, except perhaps on your part. I dont know why I have to explain this to a vet...but here it goes...If a small 12 yr old dog has a fast growing malignant tumor, then either the cancer will kill her in a few months, or the complications from loss of blood flow due to the tumor's demands on blood supply will. Even if it were benign, that blood issue is still there. That's a dead dog walking in just about anyone's book. If you anesthetize the dog in an attempt to save her life and she dies, that's a dead dog too. If you do bloodwork on her to see if she'll live thru surgery and its determined she wont possibly survive a surgery...once again...dead dog walking. No difference. However, if you anesthetize the dog, the surgery is successful, and has another 3 to 5 years of life left, that's not a dead dog. All of this is called informed consent. I get informed of the possible outcomes...and I then either consent, or not. What I hear from you in this case is you either give us $70, and WE'LL decide if we want to try and save the dog, or dont pay and we won't. Also, I was, and am, well aware of what it feels like to lose an animal. It is FAR from traumatic, so please reserve your histrionics for people who have no idea what actual trauma is. What in this case would have been a disservice to the animal is what you chose to do: charge for unnecessary services when the outcomes were already predetermined. And thanks for asking after her, it must have been traumatic not knowing if she was alive or dead. She's doing great, has her spunk back, healed up fine, and only cost me a couple hundred....once I found a vet who understood what informed consent means. read more

Today was a very sad day for me and my family. We lost our beloved dog Tank. The reason I'm leaving this review is because of the your staff. When we call and explained the situation. They treated us with so much respect and helped us keep a calm head as we rush to the vet hospital. I watch two young lady that weigh little to nothing left my dog (105lbs)up with care/urgency and rush him inside. However it was too late. I've taken my cat here twice for different problems and each time I've gone, the front desk staff, vet techs, and veterinarians have been excellent. They are patient, kind, and gentle with the pets. They took my concerns a seriously and worked with me to treat the issues my pet had. They also worked with me to find appointments during my availability and my pet was seen quickly upon arrival. We had a sick pup who needed to see a vet but we were on a very tight budget. We had used Stagecoach Vet Clinic for my other pup, but had a bad experience, so we opted to try Aztec. My husband explained our situation and they made sure to keep the costs down while also ensuring our dog got the proper meds and care needed. They explained if he continued with the same issues, to bring him back - follow up care if he wasn't better would not be an extra cost. The veterinarian spent a good amount of time explaining meds and food with us and making sure we were clear on how to administer treatment at home. Thanks to a great experience, we have found our new vet clinic. All our animals will be seen here from now on. read more

Aztec Pet Hospital has seen its fair share of management, personnel, and physician changes over the years. However, this new staff seems incompetent and insensitive to the needs of animals (small dogs in particular). I have a 5lbs Yorkie Terrier in need of routine vaccines. Chris the technician loaded the actual syringes, placing a large gauged needle on the vaccine syringe. Dr. Sims administered the shot, my dog screams in agony as this doctor tries to administer the shot in the bony arm/upper body of the dog. In the past the doctor or technician delivered the shot in the buttock area lifting the skin utilizing a really small gauged needle. I have never seen tears coming from my dogs eyes, she was in agony and pain from this experience. My dog began to piss and poo on the table, releasing her anal expressions due to fear and pain. I have never had this experience when getting vaccinations for my dog at Aztec Pet Hospital in the past. This new regime lacked the knowledge and understanding of proper pet care. Currently, my dog's buttock area is sore and sensitive to touch from the shot which was redirected to a more fatty area in the buttock, after guiding the doctor / technician. The lack of expertise and training for a very small dog was traumatizing for me and my dog. Please find a Pet Hospital where your dog can treated with proper care and compassion. I will never bring my dog back to this place again. read more

Really friendly and efficient. I sent a message on Yelp and got a timely response. The vet was fun and personable and the staff knew what they were doing. I was not pressured to do other things and they gave me a great suggestion on a groomer which happens to be a part of the center. The groomers did an amazing job. Been here once for standard shots with a very easy going dog. Will update my review soon. It seemed like a good enough place, better than the last vet I went to but the receptionist really had no sense about them. My dog was pretty frantic and excited to be around others and even sitting down was a task. Still, she had me keep getting up because she kept forgetting papers to give me. Not sure why she couldn't make sure she had all the right papers, the obviously wasn't her first day on the job. No apology or anything. Whatever...my other issue was I wish my actual vet was in the room with my dog more so than the actual "techs" who made me pick up my own dog onto the table. All he did was pop his head in, ask what I feed him and disappear. For that reason I'm hesitant to go back. Even the last vet I didn't like was more present. I've never had to pick up my own dog before, whether they were a raging lunatic, sweet as can be, 20 lbs or 200 lbs. I mean come on. And no, it wasn't to make my dog feel more comfortable. My dog would abandon me for another family and not even blink. read more

I can't say enough about this clinic! We don't live close to the clinic at all and have many other clinics to choose from between where we live and this clinic. They are top-notch! Dr Kuczek is and always have been all about the animals in his care--that's what veterinarians are supposed to do! They are treated like they are personally owned by the veterinarians at this clinic. When the day comes to have to put your 4-legged family member to sleep, the compassion from the entire staff is amazing. When my daughter's little 8 lb dog ate something she wasn't supposed to (little vacuum cleaner that she is!!!!), Dr K was not only amazing with her surgery, he was kind, compassionate, and intuitive of our daughter''s feelings. He explained to me (out of ear shot of my daughter) that he prayed for our daughter's dog, came in early to check on her and gave a huge sigh of relief when he saw she did indeed make it through the night as her condition was quite critical. He saved her life! Our daughter was able to go in and have short visits with her dog while she stayed for observation. She was able to come home several days later. They also did follow-up calls checking on the dog. I know of others who live in our area and also travel to Harker Heights to have their animals cared for at Aztec! Aztec is an exceptional place! The girls up front are great with multitasking and getting things done. They always excitingly welcome my dog Guinness and I when we come in as they treated him since he was a tiny puppy. Dr. K sees him, and always genuinely cares. Dr.K is fantastic. We started seeing him on post at Fort Hood, and he took such good care of our animals. Three dogs, three different breeds. We trust him completely to be fair, provide excellent care, and not overcharge. We've been very happy with his services and the complicated surgery he preformed on our Yorkie, he prolonged her life, and made her more comfortable. He is extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend Aztec. I have been taking my pets her for many yrs. Today I want to say Thank you to Corina and Belinda for trimming my Sr. Dog Chucks nails. He hates nail trims so bad that sometimes we do not get them all done but today Corina was able to do an amazing job!!! ( maybe she worked at a nail salon ? ) Chuck finally got a great complete nail trim , his nails look so much better and Thank you Belinda for keeping Chuck calm . Update December 2016 I'm changing my rating back to how I felt about Aztec prior to losing Darla. They really did care about what happened and investigated it, gave me updates and even though there was nothing else they could do, they made a donation to Texas A&M college of veterinary medicine in Darla's name. I did not expect that at all and was truly touched. I was slow to update mostly because I still get emotional thinking about Darla, but because Dr K and Emily have been so empathetic I knew I needed to fix this. I loved how gentle he was with both of my senior cats and because they (Aztec) are close by I prefer to take the cat there rather than be in the car 30 minutes to go to our Temple veterinarian. I loved Dr Murray. Dr K seems ok, but the hours changed and because they closed earlier on Friday i had to drive to Temple instead in an emergency; my cat (who Dr K knew and had cared for) had been attacked by a dog and if I could have taken her to her usual vet (Aztec), 5 minutes from our home, she might still be here. Instead she had to suffer in pain for another 30 minutes and then die in agony because it was too late. Maybe she would not have survived anyway, but having to wait longer than usual and see a vet who did not know her sure didn't help. It's a great clinic if you don't have to work regular hours and can request that all emergencies happen before 4 pm, but when one ended them, they really let me down. I changed my rating to 1 star because I found out that the clinic was NOT closed when I called at 4:30- the person who answered the phone just could not give a flip about my pet's health. Or had plans that ranked above my pet's welfare. Either way, it seriously affects my opinion if this clinic. If that is how they respond when there is an emergency, who gives a flip what happens during routine care? *** Turns out that Dr K was out of town and the covering veterinarian was not told about the call- the decision to tell me they were closed was made by the person who answered the phone.
