Excellent food and great service. We live out of town and came to the area for an appointment. We look to Yelp for a place close by. I prefer authentic Mexican food and am very picky about it. The reviews made me a little skeptical about the service speed and the cleanliness; however, our food came very quickly, service was great, and the place was extremely clean. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! We called in a to-go order and after 25 minutes it HADN'T EVEN BEEN PLACED YET! We had to wait another 10 minutes only to get food that was not cooked all way. Some of it was cold and some of it was soggy. We were not even offered a discount for the very late order. The girl tried to play dumb when our order wasn't popping up in the computer. Azteca 3 is a favorite of both my wife and I. We decided to stop in last night at about 7. Normally we would get chicken and rice and vegetarian number 1. They are both excellent but tonight we decided on the California burrito and chicken fajitas. Again both selections were excellent. This is the best authentic Mexican food in the quad cities. They even have 3 or 4 Aztecs around the QC because they're so good. It's worth it, so far I've only been to the bettendorf one but damn everything was hot and real. Staff was very friendly and even made sure you had refills and everything that you ordered. Best Mexican we have had in the quad cities without a doubt. We've tried a few other places, but this place was by far better than the other ones without question. The place was hopping when we got there for dinner, but we got seats right away. As soon as we were seated, the chips and salsa were brought over (very good). Drinks and orders were taken pretty promptly, especially for it being busy. When the orders came out, mine dragged a little behind and I cannot tell you how many times they apologized there after. The food we ordered was fairly generic Mexican, a couple fajita dishes, burrito, etc. My wife ordered the spicy shrimp plate (cannot recall exact name), but it lived up to its spiciness, but also had a good flavor. The portions were enormous and lots of leftovers were taken home. The queso fresco on my son's taco was excellent. I wasn't a huge fan of their refried beans. Also, the only downer was when my father-in-law tried to order a beer, since there was a whole page of the menu for alcohol and the waiter told him they are without a liquor license....? Other than that, if we're craving Mexican in the area while we are here for the next couple of years, we'll be back. read more

We stopped in during the busy hour on a Saturday night. In spite of the crowd, we had cold beer, chips and salsa on our table within 5 minutes of sitting down. We ate a great meal and were walking out the door within 45 minutes. The food was plentiful and tasted great - a real value. read more

This is the worst out of the (for now) 4 Aztecas in the Quad Cities, each of which are designated by a number. This one is Azteca 3. Even though they share a name, there are noticable differences between the different Azteca restaurants. The reasons that make this one extremely mediocre are the taste of the food, the quality of service, and the drink and food specials (or the lack thereof). Azteca 4 blows this place out of the water on all fronts. Overall not terrible, but If you are willing to drive an extra couple of miles, take yourself over to either the original Azteca 1 restaurant, or Azteca 4; both are on Brady St. read more

Excellent service across the board. Food is fantastic; their chorizo is some of the best I've had. Would like to see them remodel the booths--the backs sway if you apply any weight against them, which can get annoying if you're sitting directly near someone else. Not in any way a deal breaker. They also need to do a better job containing some of the customers from having children go overboard in the restaurant. The place gets loud, which is fine, but often kids will literally run up and down the aisles. It's a danger to the service staff (and customers) walking to tables with steaming-hot skillets. Large order for take out gone wrong!! After walking to pick up order today, realized no shells or queso dip. Phoned stating that I would be back for shells and queso. Argued that we ordered a large queso but no longer available(even though still on menu and led to believe our order was complete). She asks if I would like prices for small cheese dip. I replied with, "yes." She hung up on me.... Walked to pick up for a second time and get there just to hear her argue more about the large queso no longer being available.. The food was not bad, the service was horrible though. I would only suggest ordering takeout, and that is not even a strong suggestion. 1) Don't expect courteous service. 2) Don't expect quick service. 3) Don't expect drink refills, unless you ask at least three times. 4) Don't expect someone to ask if you are ready to order, DO expect to stop a random employee to order your food. 5) Don't expect your order to come out, the way you order it. Im not even referring to special instructions, you can order one dish and just get something else. 6) Don't expect all meals to come out at one time. 7) Do expect the bill! 8) Do expect to see employees hanging out around the bar and on their phones. To give you an indication of the service you should expect... There were four of us in my group. When we first arrived, we were told to pick any empty table (there were maybe ten empty tables). When we sat down, a gentleman dropped off some chips and salsa. After about five minutes someone else stopped by for our drink order. The drinks came out relatively quickly, maybe three minutes. After we received our drinks we waited 25 minutes before I stopped a waitress to ask if she could get our server. The waitress looked around for a couple minutes and then said she was our server. She took our orders and walked away. After about ten minutes, my food was brought out to the table. Five minutes later, my wife's food was brought out, then my buddy's wife food came out. Five minutes after that, our waitress asked us if my buddy's food was brought out (his food had not been delivered). She confirmed what he ordered and went back to the kitchen. A few minutes later she came back to confirm his order again. About five minutes later she came back with the wrong dish. (After him ordering his meal, and then repeating that order two additional times, he got the wrong meal with the wrong meat). I had to ask three times to get one refill on my drink. I will NEVER go to this restaurant again! read more

My husband, kids, and I eat here about once a week. Best Mexican food around and the service is out of this world. The staff treats us like family and my kids love them! It's actually a .25-star rating. The Service: It was not the worst. We had a 15-ish minute wait at the bar on "Cinco de Mayo". The place was packed and an hour or so to wait would have made sense. (The short wait is what earned the .25-star.) Once seated, our waiter was easily flagged down after 30-ish minutes and he was quick to return with our 2nd Negro Modelos. After another 30-ish minutes, he returned to take the orders and we returned to our standard-fare "salsa water and tortilla chips". The Food: It was the worst. My h-buzz ordered the Steak Jalisco (he can write his own review. I'll just say "gray, microwaved, meat") and I ordered a combination option of 2 chiles rellenos, 1 bean enchilada, and rice. After another 30-ish minutes, the order arrived while I was away from the table and upon my return was confronted with a wet, greasy, mass of cheese (?) and ground beef (?), in addition to a second plate with rice and a small tortilla containing refried beans. H-buzz looked at me and said "What, exactly, did you order?" (It was a legit question.) After receiving some education from the waiter about what chiles rellenos are (a pile of greasy, loose, meat, asphyxiating in a cheese-like substance), he very kindly changed the order to chiles poblanos (cool). Yet it was not cool, not cool at all. Those chiles poblanos were stuffed with and covered in a liquid cheese-like substance that can only be described as "Sweetheart, you don't have to eat that. Actually, please don't eat that." In Summary: Sure, the portions are large, the price is low, and the service to our table was not as slow as anticipated. At the same time large, inexpensive, plates of garbage served relatively quickly are still large plates of garbage. read more

this used to be my favorite restaurant until my family and i found out they cook their refried beans with lard. we've been going there since we moved to the quad cities (7ish years) and every time we go, we make sure to tell them that we're vegetarian. despite this, no one bothered to tell us about the beans until recently. while we're grateful to the server who told us, we won't be going to this restaurant again anytime soon. read more

This food is salty and low in quality. The meat can be compared to canned dog food. Margaritas are ok but the restaurant is filthy and the waitstaff is less than interested in your business. The hostess doesn't know what customer service is. Not sure I ever saw her leave her seat the entire evening. Skip this place and head to Los Agaves. They have better quality food, cleanliness and way better wait staff. Very disappointing. Seriously reconsider any other place than Azteca...I hope the sales staff takes a lesson in customer service. If you "have" to eat there pick the location on Brady street in Davenport. But for Mexican choose Los agaves on Utica... You won't be disappointed. read more

This place is not what it used to be. We just left here from dinner, and won't be returning. We arrived and it took about 5 minutes to get one menu, another few minutes to get a second menu. Ordered our drinks, the only thing that came out in a timely manner. When our waiter returned about 10 minutes later, we ordered. Waited a solid 20 minutes for anything to come out or our server to come back. Our appetizer never arrived, our food finally did. The appetizer followed our food by about 5 minutes and a reminder from us. Chips and drinks were continuously walked past and ignored. None of the food was hot, and the nachos were soggy and drowning in liquid. Our server was casually walking around and socializing, while many of his coworkers RAN to get their tables taken care of. I finally flagged down another waiter to get our bill, as our server had been sitting at the bar for about 10 minutes. Ridiculous service and mediocre food, davenport is far better. read more
