Place is in a beautiful spot in a small shopping center. Inside is nice with very well decorated roof. Outside area is a lake side view but fall flat could use more decor or can be more festive. I visited Azteca for the first time on a Monday night and enjoyed my dinner thoroughly. Dinner started off with warm chips and salsa--standard, no complaints there. The waiter suggested the Mariscos Mojo de Ajo and I loved it! The sauce is garlic based and so flavorful. The mushrooms are the perfect touch to the shrimp I had. And the rice and refried beans were yummy too. Topped it all off with a mango mojito which came in a pretty large glass, I must say. I've heard the taco Tuesday's here are fun, but have not been yet. My only complaint is that this is an expensive night out...every seafood dish was at least $20 and I ended up spending near $50 for one person. Great service. But the food was meh. We've been trying to eat let meat, so we'll was looking forward to trying the many "veg" dishes on the menu. I got the burrito--it was sizable. But mostly filled with white rice. There really wasn't much flavor at all. All the veggies were steamed, so no flavor there. And the one large carrot I can across was so hard, I couldn't get my fork into it. Hubby got the spinach and mushroom enchiladas with salsa verde. He liked it pretty much. Nothing spectacular. So we'll don't thiko we'll be coming back, at least not for the vegetarian items. read more

Stopped in Thursday evening for an early dinner. Outside seating was nice with lake view, local musicians were playing music which added to the ambiance. I had the cucumber jalapeño margarita which was excellent, A real cocktail of muddled cucumber and jalapeño not flavored vodka like other places. The service was also excellent, the waitress kept checking back with us and our salsa, chips and drinks were refilled without asking. Compared to another local Mexican restaurant, this food tasted more authentic and less like microwaved Mexican food. I would highly recommend the Birria tacos. read more

We came to visit this location for the first time, the food was amazing although the plates are not served with the same presentation as every other location which we found strange. We sat at the bar and Brenda took care of us, she was super sweet, helpful and made sure we were taken care of at all times. The food is pricey which is the only down side. We order three of their new margaritas, a dragon fruit, lychee, and blueberry, all were amazing. I also tried an old fashion with woodford reserve and i was impressed. My boyfriend ordered a new beer azteca itself came up with called D'oro (i think haha) and it's an IPA. For food we got complementary chips and salsa, a seafood molcajete and it was amazing, also a milanesa de pollo which was a pretty big portion. For dessert we got a coffee drink called carajillos. We love Mexican so being a Lake Nona resident we try and support the local businesses. My BF and daughter ate there when they first opened and told me it wasn't that great. Last night I mentioned a second chance so I could give it a try. We ordered the ultimate chicken nachos, beef burrito, and cheese quesadillas. All of this was a step above Taco Bell, but the chicken nachos were the worst. For around $20 there were approx 15 chips. 8 on the bottom soggy from watered down refried beans and 7 around the edges, burnt. Honestly, was just a small pile of mess! Would have much rather had Taco Bell for 1/3 of the cost. If you want good Mexican, go to the Whole Enchilada in Winter Garden. Sooooooo worth the drive. read more

Carne Asada, nailed it! It doesn't taste like a soy type seasoning, it just taste like an amazing grilled steak. The rice and refried beans, perfect compliment to the steak. The fresh Guacamole and queso and chips, amazing. Worth every penny that it cost me. I got it to go and it was warm and bagged up nicely with plenty of chips. I have reviewed this restaurant before and noted the abundant and tasty food, the reasonable prices and the festive atmosphere. All that is still true but unfortunately they have adopted a pre-selected tipping practice. Now you will pay 20%, whether you liked the food or not, whether the service was good or not. And on top of that they have the gall to add "options" to add even more, another 5 or 10 or 20%! This new policy is not disclosed up front so beware if you go there for the first time. You are liable for the tip the moment you sit down and it will be minimum 20%. I don't like it, and will stay clear. read more

The margarida had a weird taste, I actually questioned what tequila was used. My friend also ordered a virgin drink and also tasted really odd. But the food is what really disappointed me. I ordered the fajitas that come with shrimp, chicken and steak. The minute it arrived I noticed that that did not look at all as it should, the fact that it had carrots over all threw me off. They had no flavor whatsoever. The refried beans were not ok, as if spoiled . We went last night very disappointed .Being former owner of a restaurant bar I know that my margarita was short on liquor . i could not even taste it for fifteen dollars this is theft. There after we were informed the chip and salsa now you have to pay after the first one free but what they did they reduced the size of their basket to give less. also meat in the tacos was probably weighed or ?? because there was very very little meat. That is not a good sign when this is happening. i know I was in the restaurant bar business for 25 years. That is horrible to treat customers this was especially around lake nona where many other restaurant are being built. read more

The restaurant is very nice and the outside seating is lovely with a nice water view. Our server Brenda was friendly and nice however she was slow and getting our drinks refilled. Also I placed a lunch order for a soft corn tortilla chicken taco, rancho beans and white rice. What I got was a soft flour tortilla beef taco with refried beans and yellow/Mexican rice. I didn't send it back because we were at a work lunch and I just didn't have the time the food was good but it was not at all what I ordered. read more

The food was pretty decent but with a family of 5 they nickel and dime you for every little thing. My son and I shared fajitas and they brought us 3 tortillas and when I asked for more they charged me for any additional. Same for shredded cheese and sour cream, seems pretty crazy for a bill over $75 pre-tip. Also kids drinks are advertised as included and then we were billed for them later. Who the hell charges an additional $2.50 per enchilada to put cheese dip on them. I got 5 enchilada and got charged $12.50 extra for it. I asked why it was like that and was told because cheese is expensive. Iv never been charged additional money to put cheese dip on enchiladas. I'm still mind blown. Like are they back there curdling milk and making there own damn cheese? Almost $4 more than my bowl of cheese dip cost for my appetizer which was significantly more cheese than the pinch they put on my enchiladas. Don't recommend this place at all. We walked in at 9:20 (mind you they closed at 10) just to order desserts because we were craving the fried ice cream. They sat us down even though one of the waitresses was already giving us signals that the kitchen was closing when the restaurant was still being served. We put in our order for the fried ice cream and the Oreo ice cream. And they did us like McDonald's... we waited 20min for them to tell us that they couldn't serve us. The same waitress that tried to signal us in the beginning came and denied us from our order. If you enjoy terrible service, I highly recommend this restaurant.
