I have been eating at this restaurant since 2004. It used to be another name (Montezuma?) but had same management. My wife and I ate here tonight, ordered our usual - Quesedilla Suprema - and it did not taste right. When I complained to the manager, she INSISTED everything was OK, nothing had changed and made NO effort or offer to compensate us for a bad meal. Why does this place allow the karaoke to be so gosh awful? 1. Little girl walks around signing "screaming" in the microphone. Wow, she can't sing! 2. Karaoke "dude" stinks as well. 3. Loud - Holly crap it's loud. At half the volume it would be loud...I have been to concerts that was not this loud. Food 1. What happened? It sucks! 2. Help was not friendly 3. When we complained about the karaoke being so loud they just smiled...I don't think they could here us complain. I would have loved the karaoke if it weren't for the rude DJ telling my family and a 15 person birthday party group to behave because it was a family restaurant first and a bar second. We were in the bar side of the restaurant and we went to drink and sing. That is not an environment to bring your child to stay all night. Totally inappropriate to go to work being a karoke dj and bring your child all night. Get a babysitter like everyone else. Kids singing karaoke is cute but there is a time and place for that. And shame on the restaurant management for letting it happen. My family and I will definitely be looking elsewhere for a karaoke bar. read more

Honestly a little surprised by all of the negative reviews. I am Mexican and my husband is from Los Angeles and this is the most authentic Mexican restaurant we have found in the area other than the little carniceria. Azteca is a regular stop with us and offers very consistent food quality. The margaritas are always heavily poured. The service is fast considering how busy it can get. We never feel rushed after our meals. We are not smokers and have never been bothered by the smoking bar. I honestly don't have anything negative to say about the place! read more

This is our usual 'go to' place for Mexican food--it's close by our home and the prices are reasonable. My kids are very 'basic' Mexican food eaters so for us this works. The best thing on their menu in my opinion is the molcejete dona pepa (I'm sure I spelled that wrong). It's so full of flavor and has a little bit of everything in it. On the weekends they do karaoke and while I know they are trying to keep it family friendly where everyone feels welcome, too many kids/very small children are always up there singing and it borders on annoying--NOT entertaining! I think they should limit the time the kids (under 15) have up there. Maybe only until 8pm then let it be adults only. I don't enjoy sitting through my meal while some 5 year old tries to keep up with the lyrics. We have begun to avoid weekend nights for this reason and maybe others have too! read more

This place isn't a place to go and sit down in and eat. They allow smoking in this restaurant!! Horrible!! My husband and I wanted a nice night out with something good to eat, and relax and chill out in. We order our food, and in the process of waiting for our food my husband and I kept smelling the smell of smoke, but we couldn't put our hands on what it was because it was mixed with the smell of food as well. I finally looked to the side of me, and seen smoke from a cigarette coming from the other side of the booth. I asked my husband was this allowed, and he was just as puzzled as me. The waiter finally walked by, and I asked if they allowed smoking, and he said yes!! I was mortified when he said yes! We than asked if we could have our food to go, and he then suggested to move our seat to the other side, and we declined to do so. After we paid for our dinner we left and went home. Such a disappointment!! Funny thing about It all is my husband is a smoker, and even he couldn't stand the smell of smoke with food. They really need to rethink the smoking allowed in the restaurant. This used to be my favorite place to go on the weekends when I wanted to unwind from the week. Lately things have been a bit different. The food quality seems a bit different. It's not that the food is bad but rather things taste off-the salsa is a bit bland, the cheese tastes different, the meat isn't seasoned as much. However the main issue I have is the absurdly loud karaoke. I like the karaoke, in fact the karaoke is the very reason my family made this a regular weekend place years ago. However the last few times we have been the music is so loud we cannot even have a conversation with the people at our table. After having all we could take of the blasting music we decided to just call it a night and leave-we were parked in the back of the parking lot, by the McDonald's and when we got to our cars we could hear the karaoke music clear as day because it was so insanely loud. read more

First time coming to Azteca. The waitress was nice and answered my questions about the differences in menus items. I ordered my meal to go. Another customer ordered a to go meal after me. She received her order before mine. That customer must have been a regular because she talked with the waitress a long time. I didn't get my order for another 5-10 minutes. When my bag was brought to me, and the waitress apologized for the wait. I checked the bag and it was missing a part of my order. I waited 5 more minutes to get the rest of my order. Had I not checked my order, I would have gotten home and not had a complete meal that I already paid for. I hope this meal is good for the extended wait. I thought I found a new Mexican restaurant but the verdict is still out with this one. read more

Rarely would I rate a meal or restaurant this low but this was truly a tasteless meal and lackluster staff. Our waiter was polite but rarely came by to check our drinks or salsa ( the only thing with flavor on our table). We couldn't wait to leave. When this was Guadalajara"s it was good to very good with prompt eager service, now not even close! Worst part is I have been sick to my stomach since we got home. NEVER AGAIN! There are much better food options in the frozen food section of the Spinx service station across the street. This was absolutely one of the top five worst meals I've eaten out! I ate here many times the last few weeks. I was nice and a regular customer. But recently I asked for the waiter for some more salsa. He said "I am not sure, I might be too busy." That was ridiculous. Next, I went to pay, and it was lunchtime. I had asked for fajitas and of course assumed they gave me the lunch fajitas. It was lunchtime after all. Nope, they had upgraded me, without asking me, to the more expensive dinner fajitas. I mentioned this and they said it was my fault. I think it is fair to assume if it is lunchtime, and you ask for fajitas, you are asking for lunch fajitas unless you ask for something else. Nope, they said I was at fault. They made me pay the extra. These two boneheaded things never happened to me at any other Mexican restaurant. I WILL NOT BE BACK. I will start by saying we called to make a reservation, got there and they were unable to accommodate the reservation. Strike 1. We made lemonade out of lemons and sat in booths in the bar. The hostess was very nice. 1 at drink order they did not make the drink I ordered and were very confused by the drink on their own menu. I drank it anyway. Strike 2. Then karaoke started, when u go out for an adult night the last thing you want to see is an 8yr working the room. I think it was the guy running its kid. Who bring their kid to a bar and then complains that people are inappropriate. I was tapped on the shoulder on the dance floor and told that I should not be inappropriate. Anyone who knows me, knows I would not me inappropriate. Strike 3. We left along with the table that had about 15 people at it. They all ordered food and many cocktails. I would say between us and that table the business lost would be a good 400.00 to 500.00 dollars. Oh well your kid got to sing. Too bad that the kid was the priority. I've recently moved to the area, coming from a very large Midwestern city. I try to keep that in mind as the food here is very different. However, tonight I can't hold back. The food at this location was simple tasteless. So tasteless, I could not taste the difference between the guacamole and the sour cream. Our server was quite sweet. I ordered the flautas and they come with 2 beef and 2 chicken. I took two bites of the chicken and two of the beef and they were tasteless. Not only did the chicken not even taste marinated, but the consistency led me to think it was either frozen or canned chicken. When my server asked what was wrong I explained. Before she cleared the items she walked away like she was looking for someone. Naturally I assumed the manager would come to the table, especially since my wife also mentioned she thought her food was tasteless as well, but she was so hungry she ate it anyway. Our server came back a few minutes later and simply said again that she was sorry and took my plate. She also took my daughter's plate before she was finished (though we believe that may have been lack of communication since it was so loud). When the check came my wife was appalled that we were charged for everything. When she paid she talked to the hostess and explained that not only was the food tasteless that our daughter's plate was taken before she was done. She thought that with the early removal of one plate and my 4 bites from my plate she felt as though we shouldn't have to pay for the two items and that the manager really ought to come and see what was going on. She explained that we come frequently and have noticed and decline in the food quality in the last year. The hostess left (we assumed to talk to the manager) and returned saying she was sorry, but they would only be willing to refund for our daughter's food since the plate was bused before she was done. My wife explained that if that was the case, that we wouldn't be eating food there anymore. She was very clear that we would order drinks and chips and cheese and sing karaoke, but no food would be ordered as they didn't seem to care about the quality of the food. The hostess told my wife that if we didn't order food we would not be allowed to sing karaoke. My wife repeated the information to make clear we would purchase items, just not plated food. The hostess again said if we didn't order plated food we could not participate in karaoke. My wife promptly walked back to the table and talked to me about the experience. We have decided that we will no longer be spending any of our money in the establishment. I am appalled at the experience. I was not looking to measure the experience to my previous city, instead I ended up realizing we would have been treated better at Taco Bell AND the food would have been better. That said too much for me to want to spend any of our money there. Looking at all of these unsavory experiences of other diners I encourage you to think twice before spending your hard earned money here as well. read more
