I found the staff very welcoming and engaging. I was disappointed in the food, and the portion. I found the prices a bit steep, and the quantity rather small. Normally when you go to an ethnic restaurant, the portions are huge. Not here. Also, the food was as salty as many of my family members. I liked and prefer Coronas on Augusta in Gville. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and we were seated right away. We had drinks and our chips immediately. We love the menu pictures and choices. We love Sureno in Powdersville! We've been going there for years and it's one of our faves. We love the friendly staff, great service, awesome food, and how quickly we get our food and to go orders. It's at a convenient spot in the middle of Powdersville and they have an outside eating also. It's not a huge place or the fanciest place but they have the best food and staff. I will say, not a go to if you're just looking for a bar and mixed drinks. They're good, but I don't think that's their main focus. My fiancée and I have made this our go to Mexican restaurant, we eat outside and have always had good service. The chips and salsa are very good and their cheese dip is also very good, the cheese dip Is a little thin but still tasty, have had several items from the menu and have been kneaded with everything. read more

Was looking for a last minute dinner and stopped here for a hot meal! The atmosphere was nice! Great music playing in the background! Our bartender was very friendly! My biggest concern with this establishment was that the cold mugs and glasses were stored in a freezer that had what appeared to be mold in it! I wanted to love the food but it came out late and it lacked flavor! We have eaten here three or four times with friends after church. It's always good... never a disappointment. Service is attentive, atmosphere is on the better side of Mexican restaurants. The place is clean and neat so hey, what do you expect? We have never run out of chips and salsa, which is one mark of a good Mexican restaurant. Chips are great, salsa too. I went went to this restaurant a couple of months ago and Apparently all the staff were fussing with each other and didn't seem to have a problem letting everyone in the restaurant know. They were fussing with each other and also acting very rudely towards us. When they delivered our meal they almost hit my niece in the head with a plate because they were jerking the plates around and fussing with the other staff. The food wasn't great, the inside looks nasty, the staff were terrible. I will never go back again. I don't know how they have any business. read more

I will start off saying the food was yummy, but..... the service was disappointing, my friend and I ordered margaritas, she ordered pina colada and I ordered mango on the rocks, well the drinks came out frozen, we called him over and told him that is not we ordered, he said what we wanted did not come on the rocks... I said well that was not what we ordered nor were we notified that the drinks were not served on the rocks, we stated that we did not want them, so he went to his coworker and said the "puntas" did not want the drinks, he said it 3 times before my friends notified him that she does understand him, he never returned to check on us afterwards, we asked to speak a manager, a lady who was the hostess came and we told her what we experienced, she comped the meal... the point is the waiter was disgusting and nasty!!! read more

This is a review I hate to leave. I've been going to El Sureno for take out, at least once a month for about a decade. Over the past year however, it's been more like once a week. I like the food. It's good, and not terribly expensive. I've had a problem with the service lately though. Of my past 5 take orders, 4 of them have been missing something that I either ordered, or something that should just automatically come with the order. An example; On one of my orders, I've asked for fresh guacamole. Got the guacamole, but no chips to go along with it. That's ok, I'll just use my own. On another order, some fajitas for two. Fajita dish is there, but ooops, no soft tortilla shells to make the fajita with. And on and on. I made the young man at the register aware, but he seemed like he couldn't be bothered. I bid them a fond farewell, and maybe I'll check them out in a year or so. Maybe they'll have gotten their act together by that time. read more

Awesome place. Great food and good prices too. Authentic quality. They used to not sell coffee but to my delight they now have it. It's good too. More varied menu than many. Lunch specials available every day including Sundays. We have found our regular family Sunday lunch destination here. Already looking forward to our next visit. read more

My classmates and I were pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food at El Sureno. I enjoyed my Tex Mex quesadilla after we randomly stopped here on the drive back from Atlanta. I ordered the Chimichangas and I live like less than 2 minutes away. The food tasted okay but my biggest complaint is the food was so cold I couldn't even finish eating it as I really lost my appetite after less than half of it. Our server basically just put the plates on the table with a half-hearted attempt to determine who they belonged to even though they were very hot. Just enjoyed an absolutely delicious take out dinner from here! I ordered a stir fry shrimp dinner with chips and queso. I also enjoyed their flan for dessert. Everything was soooo tasty. My husband and I visited this place during the week. I've been here before with a friend and it was good and expected the same when I took my husband. He ordered the carnitas, one of his favorite dishes. When he received it, the pork was dry so he didn't eat it. The plate sat there on the table and it was obvious he didn't touch it. One of the waiters came by, saw the plate, asked him how it was so my husband told him - it was dry. The waiter said "I'm sorry" but gave us our ticket with that menu item still on it. There was no action to try to remedy the situation, no "can I get you something else"... nothing! We went up to the front counter to pay and my husband told the staff what happened and they said "it's our policy not to take food off your bill". What?!?!? I have never heard of this! After some argueing, she eventually took it off the bill but we should not have gone through that. The customer service is HORRIBLE! We will definitely not be back. read more
