I placed a order to go & asked for " just a bean & cheese burrito.. without anything else" I did t check it before I left. When I opened at home it was a wet burrito with onions. The reviews of this restaurant are pretty accurate, though it's not really all that far out of town. A little sketchy on the outside (complete with chain link fence and licking gate), but pretty well maintained and clean on the inside (see pictures). Good ambience, fantastic food (including the desserts), and quality, friendly service. I had the pollo Azteca, which was a generous amount of food, and came with tortillas, which were a nice bonus. Dessert was a (big!) cherry chimichanga, with ice cream. Also really good.if you're in Lancaster, it's definitely a local dining experience that is worth the trip. The only reason it's not five stars is because they didn't have tequila - had to settle for a corona. read more

I absolutely love Azteca. I have never had a bad meal or drink here and the service is always wonderful. My family and I have taken other family and friends and as far as I know, they have all enjoyed it as well. They serve a lot of food, it comes out hot, and it comes out fast. Wrote the following review over a year ago. Not sure what happened, but something has changed. The last few times were not like before. Once, the chips were stale and we had to ask for fresh ones. Then the following time, my tea was soured - I hate that. How expensive can it be to make fresh tea in the mornings? The last time, my chicken taste like it was from the night before. Then a friend mentioned something they experienced, as well... just so not like it was. So sad. Love the staff. Everyone was very nice. :( ------- The food here is amazing. Every item we've tried has been excellent. The Chicken Club Quesidilla is the best! The soups are great, too. The outside of restaurant is not something you'll look twice at, but the inside is surprisingly nice. Wood logs on walls, authentic decor. A little restaurant nestled seemingly in the middle of nowhere, you could drive right by and miss it if it weren't for the packed parking lot. Used to be easy finding good mexican food in the AV. At least that's what I remembered until I returned after 10 years. I've been everywhere looking for good food and my friends took me here. This is the worst dining experience I have ever had. Have you ever had a goat head thorn in your food? Specifically your steak burrito with a foreign object which pricked your tongue? Yeah, I hadn't either up until that point. I was shocked, irritated and pissed off. It could have resulted in a more serious injury. They had the audacity to charge me for the coke and salad. What a wonderful establishment to say the least, not! If you eat there, chew your food carefully and hope you don't impale some portion of your mouth with a nasty thorn. Never again! read more

Clean restaurant with full menu. Friendly albeit not very prompt service for an uncrowded place. The food was good standard mexican fare with an American-style preparation. The prices are on the high end. The kids meals are $7.95 and entrees range $11-20. Cocktail drinks average $10. What really bothered me is that the restaurant automatically adds a 4% surcharge on all menu items unless you pay cash. So that $10 drink is really $10.40 - which adds up for every item when you get the final tab. When i pointed out to the manager that it is actually illegal to charge a price that is higher than what is advertised on the menu he made some lame excuse about trying to not pass on internal operational expenses to customers by offering a discount to cash payers. First of all, even with the discount, this is a family style restaurant in Lancaster- I don't expect Chevy's prices. Suggest they drop the 4% "cash discount" story and just photo copy off some new menus with true prices unless they want patrons to feel like they are dining at a gas station. read more

Overrated- this place is taking advantage their clientele. The food is decent but overpriced. I remember eating at their old location and thought the food was ok. Didn't feel my bill was outrageous or anything. Fast forward to a few month later and I came in to order take out and ordered 3 burritos 2 quesadilla and 2 taco plates. They were charging almost $100 and change... I canceled my order. When I looked closer at the menu sure enough everything was $12-$13 per plate. These owners are taking advantage of the fact that they have no competition. I refuse to pay so much for mediocre food. read more

So this is one of the times that hit the worst experience here at azteca. It to 45 min to get my drink after ordering a drink. It took 30 minutes for them to take out order. We had 2 booths and we kept telling the waiter. We are together and the orders need to be taken together. I just here from my husband that the guy waiter though the other table wasn't eating. So tgisi is why I felt 1 star and to be outspoken. The last place we went to that was so upsetting, we never we back. Was craving Menudo this morning and I taught to try this local spot. Did not disappoint. Good flavor, cooked right, not tuff and not stringy, chunk size right, not too big and not too small. Was served with the right standard dish side condiments, but tortillas were not my standard, being Mexican, but could still enjoy. Next time I will opt out from the tortillas. A place we like to come to for authenic Mexican food. Always tastes real good and I try different items each time and haven't been disappointed yet. They get busy around dinner times on the weekends, but they clear out quickly. For beer, try the Blue Moon in the large frosted glass....refreshing! read more

I just left this place and WOW. The exterior was a little rough but right when I walked in the smells just welcomed me. The chips and salsa were Oh My God Amazing! The staff was very attentive and my sister and I ordered 2 Carne Asada tacos that were amazing and 2 beef tacos. The portions were very good we definitely over ordered. We also got a chicken quesidilla that was so good. AND chicken enchiladas. Everything was just so amazing. We live in the Bay AREA and will definitely be coming back just for this place !! read more

Azteca does have the best Mexican food, I love their tacos and their enchilada suiza. My husband loves their bacon wrapped shrimp. Very authentic salsa and guacamole. Their prices are great, we love going to Azteca. They're in a nice quiet part of the city, Antelope Acres. They'll be moving to their new place right up the street real soon. So we were introduced to this place by a couple friends who go here all the time. When you drive up they have this spray painted sign and looks kind just okay from the outside but DO NOT let that fool you go inside! Our first experience was great the food is so flavorful and delicious they really know how to cook authentic Mexican food. We made the bad decision about a week ago after going here for several months to go to Don Cuco's in Quartz Hill and geeze what a difference the food was so bad it was bland no flavor and expensive! It's funny when you have the good stuff then you go back to somewhere you "thought" was good! lol! We have been here several times since and seems to be the meeting place for our group of friends now they never disappoint and are very reasonably priced and the portions are great! Run-down looking burnt orange building with peeling paint -we would usually pass right by a place like this, especially since it's out in the boons. But following all the Yelp reviews we sought it out while I'm town and are very glad we did. I asked for a shrimp tostada, not on the menu but they made me a delicious shrimp fajita tostada that was full of flavor and shrimp. Hubby got a chili relleno and a steak taco that were made of fresh, quality ingredients and "yummy"(his quote). Beer was cold. A great stop after trudging around the poppy fields. read more
