Great Mexican food. Their homemade tortillas have that unique homemade flavor that you don't get from other restaurant or grocery store tortilla. We were especially impressed with their green salsa. I drove by this restaurant almost everyday for almost 2 years before trying it. I was always meaning to try it, but it's located in such a run down plaza that it steered me away from bringing my family here. I still don't know if I want to go there when it gets dark. What finally got me to go there is when I asked a few Mexican co-workers that grew up in Palmdale if they knew anything about Azteca. These guys are highly critical of Mexican restaurants and only really like their mother's and grandmother's cooking. They do concede that there are a few places in Palmdale/Lancaster that they go to for good food, and they all agreed that Azteca was one of those places. When we entered the restaurant, it was very clean inside. I got a peek into their somewhat open kitchen, and it was immaculate. The kitchen floors were spotless, almost as if it was just a display kitchen with no actual food in it. Despite appearances, I did see food being cooked in there. We ordered pozole and fried fish. The fried fish was excellently executed in that it was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and not very oily. The seasoning was very light on the fish, which might not be for everyone, but I like it because you can taste how fresh the fish was and you can always add salsa or salt to it. The pozole was tasty with tender chunks of meat in it and appropriate level of fattiness. The food was very reasonably priced. The drinks were expensive compared to the food cost, but reasonable if you compare to other restaurants. Staff was very professional and friendly. I will most definitely be back to try the rest of their menu. My co-workers recommended me to get tacos, enchiladas, and aguachile next time, so I will. read more

Very upset I ordered a wet burrito I asked for salsa on the side when I asked for extra salsa. Juan was charging me $.27 cents per salsa. Trying to support local businesses while paying for your food the least you can do is charge for salsa for food ordered. They have outside patio sitting, How about if I would've sat outside to eat would have i been charged for salsa? Definitely not coming back the food isn't as good as It was before. I've been looking for a great Mexican restaurant in my 17 years here at AV but never found my favorite until my friend told me about this restaurant. Ordered the alambres mixto and was surprised at the big portion. It's not just the regular old fajitas, it's very flavorful. I'm picky with food, I like layers of flavors and this place has it. So we decided to try them a second time. Unfortunately, we went in at noon and the chips taste like yesterday's. When we asked if they had any fresh ones she said they were freshly-made ... hmmm, okay, so we gave up the battle with the flies and just let them have the chips. His chili relleno was tasteless and the sauce was watery. My Alambre shrimp-beef combo would have been much better if the onion and beef had been better carmalized. The homemade tortillas were excellent and the flan was pretty good. Overall, for our first meal here we had a brilliant experience, but I'd say the kitchen was a little bit "off" today. Our waitress was very nice, but I think the kitchen let her down today. Note the one thing they do here that's a bit irritating is they just put the bill down without any dollar itemization of the food. The other problem was that I had to give Mr. Picky my iPhone to borrow with the flashlight turned on because the restroom light kept going on and off. He didn't want to be stuck in there in the dark because even waving his arms around periodically couldn't keep that thing turned on! Food was not the best and the service is terrible looks like the teenage girl with light hair doesn't like working there and takes it out on the costumers. I asked her a simple question and her response was very rude she looked very bothered for no reason I also over heard her talking to a costumer and she sounded very rude. Her father was next to her and I don't think he noticed she was being rude, he should definitely tell her to changer the was she acts towards the costumers. Don't recommend this place if you have kids - they have zero tolerance. This lady came to tell me that my kid was in another table when I'm aware that whatever she does I will pick up but couldn't have the patience to just let me eat for five minutes like when I go to other restaurants. I agree with perla the food is really good, but the plate serving got very limited it's like if they are running out of food or something. I specify my order twice before I pick it up and they still get it wrong. And yes the oregano and pepper . packages are too small. I see that the only thing that went up was there pricing, I mean if their plates were a lot fuller I wouldn't care of the price but less the half empty on the to go cups.. I don't agree. There customer service so far it's been ok. Hope they can change there serving amount so maybe I can come back.. Unfortunately I'm going to start searching for another place that serves menudo. read more

Everything we ordered was good the cóctel de camarón y pulpo was delicious. The tortillas are hand made. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable . Recommend the molcajetes . I had the Alambre which was excellent . The salsas amazingly good. The quesadilla mojada . Wow. Huge delicious . The complimentary chips and salsa are fresh . In all honesty I would give another star or two if it wasn't for a few things. The place is drab and worn the tables wobble the seats rock, it's just not very inviting . The music playing didn't fit and was a bit loud. The salsa bar is hidden and almost camouflaged . Didn't notice it until some one got up to get salsa. The service was not so good. Drinks didn't get refilled nor did the waitress bothered asking if we needed refills. Tables remained dirty long after the clients left, ours was cluttered with dishes. The food is great probably best I have tasted in Antelope Valley but a tweak of the service and a spruce up of the place would put this place over the top. read more

I was a little concerned because it didn't sound like they had much to offer vegetarians, but they made a special burrito just for me with pinto beans, peppers, onions, cheese, and rice and it was delicious! I've been coming here for years. Unfortunately, the service has gone way downhill. They used to have actual servers coming out to take your order, now they have two random people walking in and out of the kitchen walking up to you without properly introducing themselves asking you what you want. No restaurant shirt, name tag or anything, just dressed as if they were in their living room. I'm not really sure what happened but things have really gone downhill for this place. Tables are always empty, the people taking your order have an attitude when they should probably be trying a little harder to maintain your business. They keep trying to take short cuts with the food and if you call them out on it they get defensive and say "well now you gotta ask for first." I had seriously thought they had gone through an ownership change because it seems that from one day to another a lot of things changed. The food is still good, portions definitely changed but what's really bad is the customer service. Hopefully they either go through an ownership change or they clean house and get a whole new set of employees or real servers. The attitudes of the ones working really need a change. Just a tip, be more professional and kind... It goes a long way. read more

First time here, Sunday morning was busy but sat down within 5 minutes. Staff is friendly. Ordered their amazing Chilaquiles Divorciados with egg. They have them with steak too. So today I decided to have Azteca for dinner. Saw the reviews and had to try it. First of all it's a hole in a wall place. The decorating and the inside of the building is awful, but I was not there to see their tacky Mexican décor. He got the carne asada burrito I had the huarache. The burrito did not have the WOW factor. It had plenty of meat, rice, and beans. I tried the burrito and to me it tasted a little too salty. The huarache has a little bit of everything. Salty and not super great. I didn't finish my food. I don' know about all these 5 star reviews. The only thing I liked was the free chips. They tasted very fresh. Everything else was BLAH!!! Prices are a little too high for a hole in the wall restaurant. Paid $ 13.61 for a burrito and huarache. Back to Guadalajara Taco Grill restaurant their prices are great and food is delicious. read more

Today was a very bad day for service and food at this place, in addition to their prices....way much !!!! They partially delivered our order, we waited 20 minutes to get the remaining order, when got the remaining order it was wrong (by this time my food was cold) waited patiently for my tortillas to arrive, etc.... etc....(we had ordered Pozole and Menudo.....how difficult is that?) This place was not busy, and even then, they managed to ruin the meal with bad service.... What makes it worse is that they knew that they did wrong to us and the manager did not even acknowledge.....(pretending as though this never happened ) Other customers that got there 10-15 after we had placed our order were being served before us .... Lastly, the portions were not what they used to be and they are now more expensive.... Definitely not worth going back.... read more
