The restaurant is bright and open with lots of windows and has a friendly staff. The menu has options to accommodate whatever you're craving. The food was good; but not great. My burger tasted like a frozen patty; not a homemade patty and the cheese wasn't melted. Some of the lettuce in my salad was wilted and the ketchup for my fries had a strong bitter taste to it. My lunch cost me $30. I thought that was a lot for lunch but I enjoyed the view and outside seating. There's a bar inside and a good amount of tables. Outside seating has the most energy and the huge flatscreen makes it great for happy hour. They also have an outside bar. Check out the daily specials too! Many reasons why I would not give this place a second chance until they are more established and experienced. The biggest issue was that our reservation was at 8pm but we didn't get our food until 9:30pm and then checks at 10:40pm. Which forewarning for a party greater than 6 (or 8 I can't remember) but they can't split the bill more than 3 ways. They also pass on the credit card surcharge fee to their guests which in my opinion is a cheap look for a new 'upscale' restaurant and for the prices! The drinks were also pretty bad (and egregiously expensive, avg of $17-$18). We sent most of them back and were comped for all drinks. My guess is that it was an inexperienced bar tender on shift. The wagyu burger was good and truffle fries were great. The salmon was cooked well but it was served over marinara sauce with butter beans and olives which was an insane combo, not sure I would order it again. The blueberry cheesecake was delicious but it was a bit too soft; it was probably sitting out for too long before being served. The service was very slow and inexperienced which I can understand being a new restaurant you have to work out all the kinks. The waiter was friendly and you could tell he was doing his best. So I don't count that towards the rating since they are new. Now if I come back in 6 months and it hasn't improved .. I will say the one thing they did right was the aesthetics of the place. It is very beautifully designed inside and outside. It's a huge place making it a great spot for big parties. There was live music when we first got there which was fun. It's in a great area and they have free parking which is rare in Charlotte. Funnily enough I do feel like MOM is a good representation of Charlotte "culture" (or lack there of) because they aren't really committed to one particular theme. There are some things I really enjoy about Market on Morehead. First and foremost the location is great, right by the light rail stop on Carson and straddling the border of Uptown and Southend. I admit I'm bias because I work in the same office building, but I love the location overlooking the light rail and it has become a super convenient place for my coworkers and I to grab drinks after work. They have a great patio with lots of tables as well as bar seats that connect to the inside bar, so when the weather is nice and they open up the outside windows it is a great place to sit and have a drink. They have a massive projector screen which makes them a prime place to watch sports, we enjoyed watching soccer along with big crowds of fans. Their convenient location will probably make them a popular place to pregame before big events in the city at places like Panthers stadium, and I suspect that they will be a hit during football season. I think the biggest issue I have is that they seem to be leaning towards a high end type menu rather than a sports bar, so it is hard to figure out what they are going for. We were told that on Tuesdays they offer half off burgers, and we had yet to try the food, so we thought that would be a good time to go in. The thing is though, half off of their burgers is basically regular price everywhere else, we still paid $15.00 plus for our lunch. The burger was pretty good, but the price is a little high and that is at half off which is crazy! They are priced like fine dining, but with their projector I got the feeling they were trying to attract a sporty crowd. They are new, and apparently their location in Columbia is a successful so I think they will find their bearings, but for now I think I'm going to stick to coming here for after work drinks. read more

Ok this place is only 3 weeks old, so I'm keeping that in mind for this review. First of all, the patio is fantastic. Roomy with a HUGE tv screen perfect for watching games. Part of it is covered, which will be nice for the hot days ahead. The inside definitely has a "market" feel given the decor but it is LOUD in there. We had resys but had to wait a good 10 mins before we got our table and even then, it had to be bussed. Our waiter was nice enough, but we ordered a bottle of wine only to be served the wrong bottle. And I'm not sure he's ever opened a bottle properly before. Anyway, the food we ordered was good but came out lukewarm as service is SLOW. The black garlic shrimp had nice flavor. Slightly overcooked and not piping hot as I would have preferred. The blue crab pasta could have used more sauce and a little heat (from red pepper flake, IMO...perhaps a squeeze of lemon to brighten it(?) but not a bad dish. They have some opening jitters to work out. So, we'll give it another try later in the summer. It's a great location and nice set up though The live music was great. Market at Morehead is one of Charlotte's best lunch spots. The daytime ambiance is bright, welcoming, and relaxing, with a calming café-like atmosphere and just the right amount of light chatter. Hear me out. Sumac & Za'Atar Wings Harissa yogurt sauce. Sounds strange but somehow it works. Crispy on the inside and oh so tender on the inside. Salads and burgers are also all solid. Amazing patio (with misters!!), live music Thursday through Sunday and of course the big a$$ TV screen. Great specials during the week. Service can be hit or miss but I think it's just growing pains. Definitely worth a stop by to check it out. read more

Beautiful restaurant and patio- but this is the second time we have been and waited for too long for drinks with very few people there. But more than that, the lobster roll is probably the worst you will ever have- very fishy which lobster should not taste or smell like. No one in our group had anything great/ the only thing we could agree on is that the truffle fries were good! My son and I had lunch here this past weekend. We sat on the outside terrace overlooking the light rail. It was a great setting made only better by the huge Jumbotron TV. The inside of the restaurant looked equally as nice. We both enjoyed the Brunch Wrap that was served quickly by an attentive and friendly server. No complaints on the food or the service. Market on Morehead (MoM), a sister restaurant to Market on Main in Colombia recently opened in Charlotte and I made our first visit on a busy Saturday for the Memorial Day Weekend. The location is very close to downtown and easily accessible by light rail. The restaurant is at the bottom of an office building and there is a large parking deck. The parking deck signs are a bit scary because they warn you have to be a tenant to park or be ready to bet towed. I emailed the restaurant and they confirmed it is ok to park in the garage which we did. We were happy to see our car was still there when we left. About the food, the menu is not very extensive, which is a good thing as they seem to execute very well on the items they offer. We ordered Lemongrass chicken and the blue crab pasta. Both where large portions that promptly came to the table, which is impressive given how busy they were this day and have only been opened for a few days to the kitchen is clearly executing well. The chicken was very deeply marinated and had a charred finish to it (mostly thighs but there was some white meat as well). The blue crab pasta was a nice dish, not overpowering and you can taste the shellfish within without being 'fishy'. We emptied both plates. We did not try any appetizers, but we had 2 drinks. The Queen City Shimmer, was good but thought it needed to be a bit sweeter to balance the strong acidity. The Gold Rush Cucumber martini was also very good, but then we thought it was a bit sweeter than needed to be. They were both great drinks, but my wife and I prefer a bit more balanced mixes. Service was fast, informative, and polite. Every interaction we had with employees was pleasant. The inside is large and is split into different levels and a large patio with a giant jumbotron type screen. French bistro weave chairs are all over - perhaps a bit too much but it gives the place a bit of a more formal feel strangely combined with a sports bar feel (giant TV?). One observation is this is a very loud restaurant which is both good and bad. It is a very large location, and it may be the acoustics may need some work later on. I will also point out the OpenTable reviews are a bit tepid, with commentary around slow service, kitchen and bar errors. To me these things are common to new restaurants and thankfully did not experience any issues at all. I would expect anything been called out elsewhere will eventually improve over time. Overall, we were pleased with our experience and will come back again perhaps to try their lunch service or sit by the outside bar area to enjoy some warmer weather. read more

Great decor overlooking the rail trail with a massive projector. The food is pleasantly edible. Had the chicken sandwich with fries and ketchup. Ketchup was delicious, very herbal and tomato-ey, I think they make it in house and it almost tasted like marinara sauce. In fact, I think it was marinara. I was excited to try and want to start by saying I had high hopes and have been a server for multiple years and work in the food service industry. We came in at 530 there was one table in here and one person at the bar. Our server comes out gives us water. We don't see her again for 15 minutes. There are 10 other servers who can see us. They are all standing on their phones talking. Our server finally comes back takes our order. We both get burgers. We're excited they looked delicious. Than we bite in both burgers are completely raw in the middle. Our server wasn't even the one who fixed this. She saw us get our food we made eye contact trying to get her attention when we noticed and nothing. A different server walking by helped us out. The server who helped us went over to tell our server. However our server looked unphased and stayed talking/on phone. She never came back and checked on us, there was still minimum tables in the resturant at this point. The manager was also in close proximity and didn't come over either just was talking at the bar the whole time. I think he was even sitting at one point. First, let me say, I will go back. Six of us went there for brunch, only the second time they had been serving brunch. Waitress was really good, the kitchen was perhaps not on par. Drinks were served right away, the food came in batches, hence, I had finished my crab cake BLT before my friends meal arrived. The banana bread as an app was missed, but then they gave it to us for free. I will go back because it's a beautiful restaurant with an amazing set up, and they will get it right. As for food, the grilled cheese was just incredible, my crab cake BLT came barely warm, but tasted really good, the fries are superb, the banana bread is a must, and the duck and waffles was good, not great, but I will try it one more time. read more

I've lived in Charlotte for over 20 years and have eaten at more restaurants than I can count in this city, so when I say this experience stood out -- I don't mean that as a compliment. The service was subpar, and when the food came out, my burger was burnt. It didn't take long to arrive -- it just shouldn't have left the kitchen the way it did. The cherry on top came on the drive home. No receipt was given, but doing some quick mental math on what we ordered, the numbers didn't add up. Sure enough, when I called in, we'd been charged for an outdoor table that had nothing to do with us. And the only way to fix it? Drive back in person. For their mistake. I made the trip, and walked away with nothing but a partial refund for the difference -- no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, not even a hint of remorse for sending me back across town to correct an error I didn't cause. I understand mistakes happen. What I don't understand is making the customer do the legwork to fix one that wasn't their fault, and then not having the decency to say sorry. The food wasn't good enough to make any of this worth it, and Charlotte has too many great options for me to give this place another chance. read more

So, I get that a new place will have some service hiccups. But I take issue with the space itself. Parking is vague and it's hard to know where the hell this place is. They only have 5 reserved "blue" parking spots. Then, walking in, the hostess stand was a disaster. They lost our reservation and then sat us out of the way of the rest of the restaurant (back by what looked like an empty stage). But more than anything: the noise level was BONKERS. It was like a full-on nightclub. We didn't stay. Idk what's up with these new restaurants choosing places with no sound mitigation, but screaming across a 2 1/2' table to your partner at 7pm on a Friday is nobody's idea of a good time. At a minimum, they need to train their hostesses and turn the music down to a dull roar. read more

The restaurants setting is beautiful with chic Interior and spacious outdoor patio. The food was very expensive but mediocre tasting at best. We ordered lemongrass chicken, which was ok, Denver steak (not worth $42!), and pork ribeye (black vinegar sauce needs to be sweetened in order to be good enough to bring meat and rice together and broccolini does not need to be charred because your plate is already covered with black sauce). No, no, no, no, no! Absolute waste of time, particularly with SOOOO MANY other amazing options in and around South End. We know this business extremely well and are always on the hunt for a new experience, particularly at venues that are new and may experience growing pains, however, this place is not it. The parking is a nightmare with no direction on where to park and what appears to be only 11 or so guest parking spaces available to the entire building. Given the location this should be the easy part, but everything after you park just gets worse. No signage, so you have to guess where it is, the hostess lost our OpenTable reservation and asked us to wait outside for 15 minutes while they figured it out, another hostess tripped down the stairs to lead us to a two top in a (completely nonsensical) sunken dining area - without menus in hand - and then the waitress finally greeted us after 10 minutes, but we could not hear a word she said, let alone hear each other talk, because the music was unbearably loud...at 7:00pm on a Friday. When I asked if we could find a seat outside or in a quieter section, the waitress said it's all very loud because they have a DJ and because the NHL game was about to come on, so we had no other option but to just walk out. I'm a huge 'Canes fan and appreciate the focus on any local game, but the approach here just doesn't make sense. I love sports bars and I love music festivals and DJ venues, but they are very clearly trying to hard to be everything to everyone in a market saturated with much (much, much) better options. I heard great things about their sister restaurant in Columbia and looked forward to seeing their approach in the local market, yet as of now they have a ton of work to do. I hope they can figure it out - and of course if they do we will give it another shot - but I am not optimistic. read more
