The entrance is located in a side alley, down the basement stairs, kind of weird. No wi-fi or phone connection inside the restaurant, so you can't use your phone for anything---which can turn into an intentional exercise in disconnecting. I could not view reviews of dishes, so had to step outside to take a peak. Cannot justify paying such prices for dinning in a tiny, dark space in half-basement in the middle of NJ. Just can't. The portions are generous, which is good. But the prices are still outrageous for the location and vibe. It is BYOB for alcohol. We walked in on Sunday at 6pm without reservations and by 7pm, the small space filled up. The $12 hummus was bad. Store bought hummus of the cheapest brand tastes better. Seriously don't understand how a hummus can taste so bland and meh. No seasoning? The pita that came with it was low quality--it gave my friend an allergic reaction right away [he has sensitivity towards poor quality flour products]. $44 paidakia--lamb chops--had 4 chops that were tender and delicate. Pasnip pure was bland and totally a miss--did nothing to complement anything on the plate. Barely any demi lace sauce--definitely on the dry side. Asked for potatoes to be sutstituted for brocollini, but the kitchen did not follow through with that ask, even though our waitress confirmed it was possible. $39 lamb souvlaki was a solid dish. Filling and hearty. Good quality meat skewer. Smoked eggplant puree had a very strong smoke flavor. Lemony potatoes had bright, refreshing lemomy flavor that we appreciated. Really friendly service and the colors/scheme did make me feel like I was in Greece again. My husband and I went during lunch and ordered from the lunch special menu (main + cold app $25). We tried the tzatziki and Smokey eggplant for our apps which were served with pita. The pita wasn't as soft/fresh as some other places, but it was fine. The tzatziki and eggplant could have benefited from a little more seasoning like salt. There were only 2 vegetarian options for our main course so we went with the falafel platter and shakshouka, both which were pretty good. It is BYOB, so do remember to bring your alcoholic beverage of choice. They will open and serve and provide soft drinks as needed. We first stopped in for a ladies lunch on a Sunday. It was five of us ladies celebrating two birthdays. Ordered shared appetizers; the calamari, hand cut fries, and the Melitzano. Everything was so delicious. Then we ordered our entrees; Chicken Souvlaki, Grilled Lavraki, and a couple of others I can't recall, and those were also amazing. We loved it so much that three of us decided to do a triple date night on Friday that same week and go back with our husbands. This time we also brought some alcoholic bevies. The experience on Friday night was just as great. The serve staff are so nice. The food is so so good. We tried the Azure Beet salad as part of apps and couple of husbands had the lamb shank. The Beet salad is A-mazing! The decor reminds us of Mykonos and Santorini. I wholeheartedly recommend this place! We were 30 minutes late for our reservation (traffic!) and had 30 minutes to eat before leaving for a nearby show. They were very kind and understanding, suggesting dishes that would be ready in 10 minutes. The sea bass, and the scallops were at our table in less than 10 minutes, delicious, perfectly cooked, plated, and presented. They were so understanding. We then shared the pastitsio, and I'm not a pasta person unless it's a special dish, and this was a special dish. We divided it into 3rds bringing home 1/3rd leaving room for our main dish. We were treated to a few complimentary apps to start the meal which was such a nice touch - crackers with mango greek yogurt and chia seeds, a basket of hot fresh pita, olives, tzakti sauce and the star of the show - an edible butter candle with notes of orange and cinnamon. For apps we tried octopus which came with two very large pieces of perfectly charred octopus. The octopus sat atop fava bean and red pepper dips - both delicious. We also had the flaming saganaki cheese and it was soo good because when is flaming cheese not, ammirte? For my main I had the beef which came with a large kabob of perfectly cooked medium rare meat. This was served with a side of mashed eggplant, steamed veggies and zucchini chips. There is also a kids menu which was nice to see! Prices are a little wild at $16, but my daughter enjoyed her chicken tenders. BYOB, so don't forget to bring your favorite bottle. And if you have a stroller with you just be mindful that there are a few steps getting down into the restaurant. The owner was kind enough to help us carry it down. Came here for early dinner on one of the warmer days in March. Came here with friends to celebrate a belated birthday. Food was superb. Octopus, Kolokithokeftedes, Moussaka all done to the point of eating the fork. Everything was done in the atmosphere of Santorini even if it is a little further from the sea then the island. A taste of Greece is a very underrated statement for how genuinely great of an experience this was. Food: we started the meal off with some saganaki which was done with great presentation, covered in a flaming liquor. The pita and edible candle which was complimentary was delicious as well as some sort of white bean/olive oil hummus thing which was hearty. I got the grilled salmon which was perfectly cooked, albeit a little dry. My wife got the chicken souvlaki which was tender and had a great eggplant cream. For dessert we did a pistachio kataifi which was to die for with fresh fruit. Just based on food alone, it was one of the best places I have been. Aesthetic: beautiful setting predominately set up in blue and white, ample seating and it didn't feel crowded at all despite being fairly busy. Service: this is what separated it all. Aksana (I apologize I don't know how to pronounce her name) was our hostess and was super sweet, helping me out with the flowers I brought and everything. My extended family and I went here for lunch one day last week while we were in town for a wedding. It was an elegant lunch with great food. It was a very bright restaurant with all white walls and Greek decorations. I ordered the Beet Salad which was delicious. Others ordered the Falafel dish which looked amazing. Service was excellent - attentive, friendly and helpful without being overbearing. It is BYO which we didn't realize, but there is a wine store right next door, so my husband left and returned before our appetizers were served. To start, we had the cold app trio of humus, eggplant and feta/roasted pepper. The pita was served hot and delicious. We also shared the octopus which comes over potato - this was the highlight of my meal. A definite must. Tender and perfectly seasoned. My favorite octopus preparation since we had it in Greece. I knew I would fill up on pita, so I opted for the shrimp Santorini (a warm appetizer) as my entree. I'm so glad I did. Light and delicious. They brought extra pita for me to enjoy it with. My husband had the squid ink pasta and cleaned his plate. For dessert, my husband had the baklava cheesecake (I thought this was just ok, though he loved it) and I had the bougatsa (wow!). One of my favorite ever desserts. Our waiter remarked this is his favorite dessert as well. The beet salad is one of the most delicious I have had, fresh and fully flavored with spices and complementary components-arugula to balance sweet beets, suffused with subtle spices, tart yogurt and grape tomatoes. Beautiful and perfect. An on-the-house eggplant appetizer was smoky, chunky, and full of flavor, served with pita and a crisp flatbread. The skewered chicken was moist and flavored with oregano and the grill's gentle char. The accompanying veggies were firm and just cooked through, again, perfectly. We weren't sure if it was tzatziki so we didn't order that just in case it was the same. We got Halloumi for an app. It was good but again nothing I'm seeking to return for. I got the chicken souvlaki and my friend got the beef. Both meats were very good. The eggplant purée on the side was very Smokey and we both didn't like it. Zucchini chips on the plate weren't crisp. We thought the Humus was outstanding, as was the Azure Beet salad (huge portion, more than enough for 3 maybe 4), but the Spanakopita left something to be desired (a huge disappointment for a Greek speciality restaurant) . I thoroughly enjoyed the Paidakai (lamb chops), their flavor and doneness was perfect! My guests also were very happy with the Beef Cheeks, Grilled Salmon and Octopus main courses. This is actually probably one of the best dining experiences I've had in the burbs of NJ ever. The food is delicious, the service was phenomenal (every single person from the hostess to the bus boys were so friendly - very family run feel), the decor makes you feel like you're in Santorini, and it's byob (and there's a very cute wine store down the street where you can pick up unique options). We had a party of 6 and we shared a few apps (and they present with you a cute little welcome dish of crackers with Greek yogurt, an edible butter candle, olives, and some pita bread). The apps were all good (fried cheese, calamari, and hummus). I shared the branzino and scallops with a friend. Both were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Everyone enjoyed their food (friends got the beef cheeks, chicken kabobs, lamb chops, and one more I can't remember). They also had this VERY spicy hot sauce to add a kick if you're up for that just ask. I can't forget to mention that they make sure your water cup stays full (can't say how much I appreciate that little gesture in restaurants). They also bring out an ice bucket for your white wine. Had dinner here on a Friday night. The ambiance and decor is nice, and the service was fine, but the food was a disappointment. Started with the saganaki, fried sheep's milk cheese. It's supposed to be pan fried or broiled and hot, but it wasn't, just a chunk of bland cheese served on a cold cast iron platter. The server flamed it at the table with ouzo, but that only lasted a few seconds and didn't warm it up. I also had a classic entrée, moussaka. They served it with two salt and pepper shakers on the side, which I thought was odd, until I tried it. It was tasteless, overcooked and mushy, no seasoning whatsoever. I sprinkled it copiously with the salt and pepper, but it was hopeless. I did not enjoy it. I was not satisfied, so I ordered dessert, one of my favorites, Greek orange cake. It's semolina cake soaked with orange syrup. There was no orange flavor, and it wasn't even sweet. Honestly, it was gross. It tasted like rotten eggs, and I don't like saying that. It's not cheap to eat here, either. One app, two entrées, one dessert, and two coffees was $125, plus tip. I would never come back here, and do not recommend. read more

The atmosphere reminds me of being in Greece. Blue and white all over. My husband and I had a date night last week. I'm glad I made reservations. The food was good but I think a bit too expensive. The service was swift and welcoming, with friendliness and warmth. We felt truly welcomed into their home. Now the food...in a word, it was spectacular. Everything is so fresh and bursting with flavor. This is not a typical Greek restaurant. They gently interpret the dishes with an American flair but still maintain the Greek character. The rice with spinach, artichoke and seasonings is an experience in itself. The portions are good for sharing (which you will probably want to do), or fine to have alone. Was able to get a reservation here last minute after some plans fell apart - the staff were super friendly on the call. They welcomed us in and made us feel at home. I was a bit disappointed. For starters, we ordered the anchovies and... I never thought in my life that I would complain about this but... we got too much food... too much anchovies. Of course we felt bad and didn't want to leave them, so we ate each one. The anchovies were all lumped together too... like stuck together as if they were dumped out of a can lol, maybe not idk? The presentation could be a bit better. The anchovies themselves were pretty decent. The eggplant dish was delicious, no complaints there. For the main course, I got the grilled Bronzino and my friend got the grilled snapper. I love Bronzino and it's usually my go to dish at any Mediterranean restaurant. So, I really like how nice this place is, but the fish just wasn't cutting it out for me. First of all, it was very bland.. lacked salt and flavor. The texture itself was also kinda meaty, hard to explain, but it felt different. Also, the skin was all mushy. This is just my recommendation - but it might be better to pan sear the fish rather than grill it. This is a great experience from start to finish. The owner greeted us when we walked in and showed us to our table. After we ordered, we were surprised that we received a huge complimentary appetizer that had a mix of warm pita (it looked like white and whole wheat slices) and then two larger slices that looked like baked pita, as well as Kalamata olives, hummus, and a butter candle, which was a unique touch. For our entrees, we chose the beef souvlaki and the chef's special, which was chicken with vegetables and a tomato and yogurt sauce. Everything was delicious. My fiancé hardly ever eats chicken, but I asked him if he wanted to try a little of mine, and he kept coming back for more! (But that was okay, because his dish came with an eggplant creme that I LOVED and kept stealing in return!) The onlyyy thing I could say about this place is that the price of the beef souvlaki ($35) did seem steep for just one skewer of meat, but I did think that the chunks were larger than you would typically see at other places. The owner stopped by twice during the meal to make sure we were enjoying everything and was chatting with each table. My fiancé remarked that this place feels like an NYC restaurant because it's below the sidewalk, it's intimate and dimly lit inside, and the food is excellent, and I would agree -- the NYC vibes are definitely there.
