On a Friday night in June, my wife and I met friends at Marjan for dinner. It was our first time here. The restaurant is located a few blocks from the Morristown Green. It's a small, family run place with excellent food. We started off by ordering appetizers of Hummus and kashk-e-bademjan (puréed eggplant) served with pita. Both were very good! This is a BYOB, so the wine was perfect with this. For entrees, my wife and I both ordered Kabob-e-barg, which was marinated pieces of filet mignon, served with Basmati rice. My wife also ordered a small salad. The rice was amazing! I really enjoyed that and the salad which we split. We had to order the homemade baklava for dessert...great way to top off the meal! Morristown has so many great restaurant options. Every time we come here we always say that we should come here more often. With parking garages, it's always easy to come here, park, and walk around the town. If you're coming here, Marjan is a good choice for a delicious meal. read more

The extremely fast Uber Eats pickup included the mast-o-moosir dip with yogurt and shallots and the kuku Persian-style fritatta (the first option including spinach and parsley; there's another variant with eggplant). The standout was the aash soup - far creamier, onion-laden and dense than usual (these adjectives will have to suffice until I get into CIA Blogger School). Wonderful dinner! I ordered it to go for myself and my parents on a weekday night through uber eats. The food was ready in ~30 min and was still warm when I got it home. I'd recommend ordering several dishes to share among a group of people. The prices are a bit steep, but the portions are pretty generous and I felt it was worth it. Food: -Ground Sirloin Kebab: tasty and a really filling -lamb chops: delicious and full of flavor. You also get 5 small chops, so plenty to eat -kebab e barg: SUPER tender. Easily my favorite meat -Shirin Polo: I was dubious about paying $14 for rice but it was worth every penny. So much flavor! -koresht e fesenjoon: this stew was the star of the show. Had a very nice meal here with my girlfriend. Each course was excellent and our server, who I think was the owner, was very friendly and helpful. We had the dolma, lentil soup, lamb entree with the specialty rice with barberries, and the "most exotic stew." Each piece of the meal was delicious and had something that you wouldn't usually find elsewhere (or at non Persian restaurants). I would say for the most part this place is great, especially because there aren't many Persian places in the area. Their rice is always tasty and they make a good Persian ice cream. I will say that their protein is a hit or miss, something things come out perfect and sometimes the chicken or shrimp is a little overcooked. Persian ice cream is the best. It is very layered in flavor. And it tastes very fresh and uplifting. I put this first, because it's the most important part of the review. We were greeted and seated quickly. The table looked clean, but the waiter cleaned it again before seating us, we appreciated that. Fesenjoon, is something we saw recommended by other Yelpers. We ordered the chicken version. The waiter suggested we try a small sample before getting the whole plate. He said something to the effect of it being a unique taste. We agreed to try the sample, and it was very good. The flavor is very unique. I imagine it might be overwhelming to many people's taste buds. My wife and I lean towards exotic and heavily spiced foods, so we of course liked it very much. We also ordered a lunch special, the kubideh. It was very tasty. It came with rice. The rice had a nice subtle flavor that added to the experience. All in all, the food was very good. I planned on giving the restaurant 4 stars, but the Persian ice cream deserves all the stars. My father in law came for lunch here and brought home some of his rice - holy wow, Batman! Because I didn't dine in restaurant, I can't speak to the ambiance but he took some photos of his meal and the place looked stunning inside. He said service and experience was wonderful (they came for a mid-week lunch - not sure if weekend/evening has a different feel). Food was outstanding - my FIL's partner had a chicken kebab and it was presented beautifully. My Father in Law ordered a rice dish with orange peel, pistachios, etc - an absolute delight. Persian restaurant in downtown Morristown where parking is a challenge. Once your inside though, it's all chill. I hear the owner is very involved and does the cooking most of the time and I feel good supporting a small local biz. Appetizer: Sabzi frittata, hummus, and shirazi salad with their homemade bread. They provide some seasoning on the side for the hummus , this is great for all people who are either complaining not enough or too much. Dinner: Shared the chicken kabob and the shishlik lambchop - the winner was definitely the lampchops -WOW! Overall, I love it when I'm not rushed, we sat and had a relaxing dinner. Marjan has a nice ambiance with warm, relaxing decor. We were greeted immediately as we walked in and seated right away. We ordered three appetizer platter with The dolmeh (grape leaves) were served with a homemade pomegranate and tamarind sauce. The kashk -e-bademjan was served with a flat thin bread which is very similar to a wrap. The flavor of the kashk e bademjan is awesome. The KuKu (frittata) was very different. It's got the consistency of a cake but very light. It's served with pickles and fresh red/yellow pepper which definitely enhances the flavors. The kabab platter had a beef kabab, 4 chicken kabab pieces, and lamb kabab. The chicken kababs were so flavorful! The side of rice was sprinkled with some seasoning and were very tasty. The ICE CREAM made this a five stars for me. * Walked in and was greeted by a very nice person. He cleaned off a private table in the back quickly for us. Service overall was very quick and friendly. I had the Persian Iced Tea as my drink and it was lovely. We started with the hummus, which came with bread (I think it was some kind of whole grain). It was excellent - lovely olive oil drizzled on and smooth consistency. For dinner I had the Kabob-e-barg. The grass fed meat was so soft in texture. Never really had steak like this. It was cooked to my liking and was very flavorful and juicy. The side rice was also very good. The star of the show was the ice cream. What an experience! Tasted high quality - nothing that you could ever get from a container. The pistachios gave it a nice slight crunch. * Really lovely establishment. * ALSO! I finally made it here. Started with hummus. I think they roast it. It was one of the best I had with some of their homemade pita. We split their house plate which had chicken, lamb and sirloin. Everything was delicious and well seasoned. We finished with baklava and a Turkish Coffee. The service was perfect. They even let me try one of the sauces fo a sweet and sour stew they make because I couldn't make up my mind. Who does that? It is not to be confused with Chinese food. I had the chicken kabobs for the first time a few months ago. They were succulent (so very moist and juicy) and delicious! Could not stop thinking about the meal so I ordered again today but sadly, the chicken kabobs were dry to the point of not being enjoyable. So disappointed because I used door dash which means I paid so much more for this dish. Marjan, your food is good but it needs to be consistent. I just wasted $30 (total in DD) for a $17.95 dish that was not as expected. Chicken dried out? Toss it. Do not send it out to a customer. Came here on a Sunday for lunch with my family. They weren't busy at all so we got seated right away. Quiet persian music playing in the background which was nice. Our server was super attentive and came to us right away. For appetizer: we got the combo platter of 1. Hummus (pretty bland and simple if you ask me) 2. This place is absolutely delicious. I came with coworkers for a team dinner. The reservation process was seamless. Once we arrived we were treated by friendly waiters and host. We had a pre-fixed menu that was just what was needed. For appetizer I had potato salad and delicious pickled vegetables my main entree was chicken and shrimp kabobs with white saffron rice. I am Persian and have been on the search for good Persian food in NJ. Morristown is about 30-40 min away from me. This restaurant is about 4-5 blocks away from downtown. It is formal in appearance. The host greeted us warmly. Sat us at a nice table. He gave us time to settle before he asked what we would like to drink. By that time we knew already that we wanted the following appetizers: 1) Kashk-e-bademjan - a roast eggplant puree with fried mint and roasted garlic and this special yogurt sauce. 2) Dolmeh - Rolled up grape leaves with this delectable pomegranate syrup and lastly 3) Kookoo Sabzi - A kind of frittata made of heavy herbs like parsley, cilantro, etc. Our food came out fresh, and so delicious. It was heavenly. As for the entree I got the Chelo Kabob Sultani, a king's meal indeed. It has one skewer of seasoned ground beef, kind of like a sausage, called koobideh. It comes with another skewer of barg, or thin filet mignon. The filet was to-die-for. It was melt in your mouth soft, marinated in some saffron and pepper with lemon. So incredibly good. My better half got the chicken breast, also marinated in some saffron and pepper with lemon. It was cooked juicy and not dry at all. She got hers with salad, I got mine with rice. My rice was fluffy and light. We ended our meal with two scoops of happiness -- Persian ice cream. This ice cream is hard to find, it is made of pure cream, rose water, saffron and crushed pistachios. It is decadent, rich but light at the same time. You can't not get it. Oh by the way this place is BYOB and there's a wine/liquor store right next door. It is a nice place, a great first date or a special dinner kind of venue. read more

We drove from Manhattan for this restaurant and it was the best Persian food we have eaten in the US so far. My family are Iranian, so the standard is high! We cook Persian food at home and always explore Persian restaurants when we travel. This was by far the finest food we have found. The barg was so tender it melted in your mouth. The lamb shank was also tender and expertly cooked. The baklava was tasty and original. The chocolate dessert had exactly the right amount of sweetness. The whole meal was exactly the right amount.
