We discovered this restaurant on our way back from 123 Farm and were pleasantly surprised. My son absolutely loved their baguette--he devoured the entire thing in one sitting! We ordered two bánh mì sandwiches (shrimp and lemongrass beef) along with an order of four fried egg rolls. Their fired egg roll option are only available in either shrimp or pork. They were tasty, but I would have loved to see a chicken option on the menu as well. One thing to note: jalapeños are automatically added to the bánh mì, so be sure to request no jalapeños when ordering if you're sensitive to spice. The seasoning and flavors in both bánh mì sandwiches were excellent, and all of the vegetables served with the bánh mì and egg rolls were fresh and crisp. In my opinion, it's often the little details like fresh produce that reveal the quality of a restaurant, and this place definitely delivered. We arrived around 7:30 PM and were a little concerned that we might feel rushed since it was getting close to closing time. Fortunately, that wasn't the case at all. The staffs allowed us to enjoy our meal at a comfortable pace, and we never felt pressured to leave. The dining area had two TVs showing family-friendly programming--one featured a Vietnamese cooking show, while the other was airing FIFA coverage on a news channel. It created a relaxed atmosphere, and we enjoyed a calm dinner with our 3- and 6-year-old children after a long day at the lavender farm. I also tried the Orange Thai Iced Tea. It was refreshing, though I didn't really notice much orange flavor. There are two individual single-stall restrooms available, and both were clean. Families will also appreciate that high chairs are conveniently located near the sauce and drink station. Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience and would definitely return. I can't get over how much I love their tofu Banh mi, and my husband loves the brisket one! For appetizers we usually order the spring rolls and they put a big piece of your meat choice inside! This review is based off of their bbq chicken Banh mi and Vietnamese coffee. I was in the area and I was surprised to see a bahn mi spot in Yucaipa so I checked it out. I ordered the bbq chicken bahn mi and it was actually pretty good. The only thing I would take out in the description is the bbq sauce because there isn't sauce, it's just the marinade. But the flavor was good and the bread was good. As for the Vietnamese coffee, it was decent but nothing special. Overall I'd recommend trying them out but it's also hard knowing that I'm paying over $10 for a bahn mi sandwich when I'm used to paying about $7. I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in the area. I am a fan of Banh Mi sandwiches and this quaint place does not disappoint! I ordered the pork meatball sandwich and it was perfect! If you read the About This Business section, you will find out that the owners used to run a bakery shop in Vietnam and it definitely does show. There is a lot of attention to detail in the making of this sandwich: the bread was so crispy and well formed, the vegetables were fresh, and the pork meatballs soft and melts in your mouth. Ordered the crispy pork belly banh mi. I can't skip pork belly if it's on any menu so I went for it. It took about 15 minutes for it to be made and I realized this is gonna be good if it's taking this long. The bread is made in house soft and crispy not hard not chewy almost melts away and you can tell all the veggies are fresh cut nice and cold with a freshly cooked pork belly. The Bahn Mi sandwiches here are amazing! They make their own bread in house and it shows. We tried the vegetarian, bbq and pork meatball sandwiches. We also tried the fried egg rolls, orange Thai tea and green Thai tea. A huge group walked in right before us so the food came out one at a time and we had to wait for a table to be cleaned, but it was well worth it. We all loved our food and drinks. Then you can take care of your own trash. It's a pretty quick serving restaurant. The girl taking our order and brining out our food was nice. I ordered the combination pho and the special cold cut with pate banh mi. Like everyone had mentioned the banh mi is baked fresh. Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, the cold cuts were good and I especially adored the chicken liver pate. The pho broth was very good and had good helpings of noodles and topping. Probably one of the worst Vietnamese places I've ever been too. Phó did not seem to be prepared with any aromatics and lacked flavor. Decent portion but for $17 you expect to be blown away. No bread for sandwiches. Fried egg rolls did not have the standard black fungus mushroom that is typically in Vietnamese egg rolls, no flavor whatsoever. Also, it's as if potato was used an extender. Pickled veggies had no flavor/no daikon, served with romaine instead of green leaf. Nuoc Cham was watered down with no garlic/chilis. It was terrible. Spring rolls were equally bad. The springs rolls from Trader Joe's is better and those are vegetarian and made in advance. Last thing we got was the bun or vermicelli noodles. Also no flavor. Pork was not marinated. Pickled veggies were not pickled at all. Overall- their counter with sauces, it's like no one replenishes it. No chili oil or sauce. Drink area/Counter was filthy. P Fountain drinks are $4 each but their machine doesn't work except for sweetened ice tea and lemonade. C Food turnaround was so slow. About 20 min to get appetizers. So disappointing. read more
