Don't let them get you with the "ring shank galvanized" nail salesman talk! This is a low quality company. Project manager will just drop off their workers and leave. I was unable to communicate with the workers due to language barrier so it was hard to call out issues. Here's what you really get: *A 1-1/2 hole for a 10 ft post. *Treat regular concrete like fast-mix (no pre mixing) *Use 1 nail per runner *Use a low quality Japanese wood and not tell you the difference (this is why they are able to quote cheaper). Meanwhile they don't stick around to monitor any of this. Why, because they don't care. The initial site visit was set about a week away, which was further out than other bids, but I really liked the photos online for our hog wire fencing project. I bought a house that had an unfenced yard. I needed a fence so the dog could go out by herself without supervision. Got a few quotes and gauged them by the cost and the knowledge of the project manager. Dylan of B.C. Fence was the most insightful in helping with materials selection (a combination of a privacy fence by the side of the house and a decorative iron fence for the front). Dylan kept me constantly updated on the scheduling. When construction began it only took about two-and-a-half days of work (partly interrupted by thunderstorms) to complete the fence. Dylan came out to the worksite around three times a day to check on progress, which is nice quality control. When we did the final walkthrough I pointed out a couple of items that I had some concerns with. Because the yard has an undulating surface I was concerned that the dog might be able to dig and squeeze under the fence. Dylan offered to have additional pieces of decorative iron welded under the fence to prevent the dog from escaping. If you're looking for a fence builder who can't square a corner and who will blame you for their mistakes, look no further. I needed a simple rectangle stand alone chain length fence built to keep my gardens safe from deer with a cross-fenced section to keep chickens safe from predators... initially BC was easy to work with, they provided a few quotes for different options I requested and then completed the work in a reasonable amount of time. The finished product, however, demonstrates a clear lack of expertise and their handling of the problem demonstrates a lack of professionalism. See the attached picture, they didn't bother trying to square the corners so they ended up building a trapezoid instead of a rectangle. Then when I raised the issue, the project manager first tried to claim it was very nearly a rectangle (it isn't) and then tried to blame me for not noticing the problem when he brought me out to mark the gate locations before they started building anything (and falsely claimed he "walked the perimeter" with me and that they were absolved of responsibility for the shape after that). He didn't have an answer when I asked how I, the customer, was supposed to notice this misalignment in the string lines they had out when he and his crew of professional fence builders didn't see it. After a lot of arguing, he said they weren't going to fix it and offered me a $500 discount (slightly more than 5% of the total cost). read more

I LOVE MY NEW FENCE! I sent out a generic Yelp quote request and B.C. set up an appointment for Todd to come out. Their quote was almost a thousand cheaper than another local company and only $400 more than the cheapest, see my previous review to see why I didn't go with them. They also offer a $300 off "found on Yelp" coupon. Todd followed up and we set a tentative date of the next Thurs/Fri, but they ended up being able to come days earlier on Tues. They cut out a stump that would have been in the way, worked super fast and clean, and even in the rain the fence was done in half a day. Watching how fast it came up was crazy. They were here by 8 and gone by 3 pm! The only downside is that I wasn't given a heads-up about the schedule change. I wasn't aware they were coming Tuesday and didn't hear anyone knocking, just looked out my window to see dudes in my yard putting up a fence. I'm glad I was home and that my dog door was closed, otherwise I would have been very confused coming home or our dogs could have gotten out and away. When Todd was here initially we'd discussed I needed a gate between myself and my neighbor's yard and where it would go but it didn't end up in the plan he sent over, which I didn't realize until the day of. When I brought it up when the guys were working he immediately went to get supplies and installed it for free. Incredible service and an incredible company. A fence that is well priced, well built, smells excellent and done by a company who cares. I am so happy to write this review. We have wanted to do a fence upgrade for some time, and finally had the means to do so. After going to many companies on both Yelp and Home Advisor, we met Vince at BC Fence and were given a fantastic price which was competitive and reasonable. He wrote a clear contract, he explained what we would get in ordinary English, not fencing jargon, and he was reasonable about time tables and explanations. They called 811 for us, texted us with updates, and even made sure that 811 came out again when one of the crews for the utilities checked our neighbor's yard instead of ours. This was fixed quickly and efficiently, and we had updates instantly. The day came to get the fence, and his crew did a marvelous job. It took two days because they put metal posts and the concrete had to dry, and meanwhile we got to smell this fantastic cedar in our yard. When the job was finished the next day, the crew tidied up the mess, put away the items they brought in their vehicle, never made a fuss, and were efficient. I mostly want to commend the crew at BC. The communication has been fantastic, and everyone from the fence crew to the phone staff to the wonder that is Vince has treated us as though we were their own family and taken care of our home. After getting quotes from a couple of local companies, we ultimately decided to go with BC Fence due to a stellar review from our neighbor and a great first impression. We needed the back portion of our fence to be replaced after the winter storm kinda keeled the fence over completely (our tree split in half too, basically) - we were grateful that this was really the only damage we sustained. But understandably they were really busy after and it took a little while for them to come out. Their prices were VERY competitive and they did something no other company did - they went out and assessed which portion of the fence was truly unstable and which portion we COULD have kept intact, giving us two quotes, one for only a small section of fence and another for the full back section. We didn't even ask for this - they offered this option based on their professional opinion. Everyone else that came out said basically to tear it all down and redo it all. They were honest from the very beginning! We went for the full back fence anyway. The crew that came out to work on the fence was SO nice and respectful. I was working from home at the time and they were quiet and efficient the entire time. I spoke with them briefly and they were professional and great to talk to. The fence itself is beautiful. The wood is thick, it's very solidly built, and there is practically no gap between boards. EVERYTHING was cleaned up perfectly after, no concrete chunks, no dug up dirt (how did they even manage that?) and no remnants of the old fence, like old pieces of wood or nails. My side neighbor had their fence between our houses replaced a year ago by a different company, and it was a disaster how much garbage they left after they were done. Concrete and dirt and nails everywhere. This was like night and day. Finally, the cherry on top - my mom asked them if they could hammer in some nails for our side fence that was done by another company. That fence was really poorly done and the wood was flexing and nails were popping out. THEY FIXED THE FENCE JUST BECAUSE! Granted it was just nailing in a few nails but it was incredibly nice of them and 100% not in their scope. I was so bewildered when I went out and saw that even the fence they DIDN'T make looked better somehow. Literally could not ask for anything else. Worth every penny and would recommend them to anyone. The only con is now the right and left sides of our fence that were done by different companies look bad in comparison... read more
