It broke my heart to give 1 star to any business, but my experience at this store ruined my whole day. I was super thrilled to see a cute pet supply store here so I could get some souvenirs for my dogs. We felt guilty to leave them at home and have had fun just ourselves. However I left the store with a sad heart. The old man at the cashier was PASSIVE RACIST. I came to the check out with joy and warm smile cause I found perfect goodies for my dogs. I greeted the man and smile. He did bother to look at me or reply. He just checked out my stuffs and told me the total. Not even a thank you or have a good day. He crammed all my stuffs in a tiny paper bag. I was stunned by how I was treated and thought maybe he was shy. But then I saw that he treated other white customers with greetings , small chitchatting, and warm good bye. He packed 2 items in a big bag. I will attach the amount of items with the bag so you can see. I ended up walking around the town worrying that the overflowing items might fall out. I love Bainbridge Island and Winslow downtown but the experience at this store ruined everything. read more

I wish I could live in Bainbridge Island to be a regular at this store. It has everything what a furry friend needs. For those of you visiting the island BI Barkery is conveniently located near the ferry station, where all the shops are. We stopped for a coffee and also got something for our dog. They have fresh treats, food, toys, beds, more toys!!!! Anything you need is right here. My favorite thing was the fresh treats. Take a look to their display (attached picture) with all sort of fun treats. They've been here for a while and you can tell why. They're friendly and kind. read more

This is just a cool little store to visit. Lots of unique toys and snacks which seem to change often. I always find something new to try (love the CBD treats and flavored yak cheese). The staff is always friendly to me and eager to help and there's often a dog around to pet. If you're in Winslow, turn into the covered "mall" near Blackbird and the teriyaki place. It's a few stores back on the right. Worth it. read more

This bakery is super cute. Love their selection of durable toys for dogs. We popped in looking for a treat to take home to our pup- we got a super durable Qwizi, 4 Himalayan yacky churros and 3 duck chews for under $35 which felt some as mudd bay in seattle. They have dog beds, fun pup art and magnets, lots of treats and toys, leashes and more. Customer service was great; she was helpful in finding something that would be a challenging for our dog as a food puzzle and take him lots of time to solve. read more

I can't tell if my dog or I liked this store more, but it's an awesome store! They have all natural treats for dogs, as well as specialty baked goods for them. Our dog was hot from the sunny day, so came in and hid under a table, to get some shade. The staffer loved having her there and would give her treats and play with her while my boyfriend and I looked around. I loved that they had quirky items for the pet parents, too, like pint glasses of different breeds or funny signs that any dog owner could relate to. I had to resist the urge to keep buying stuff for my dog and me because the place had sooo much cute stuff. I just wish there was one in Bellevue. read more

I love this store, as I do most dog-centric stores. I admit to that bias upfront. But this store really is wonderful. It's small, yes, but it packs a punch. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable and doesn't hover as you browse. There is an eclectic selection of all things dog-related. I'm still kicking myself for not purchasing a blue toile ceramic dog bowl I saw there last summer. I haven't seen it in any other store since. The prices were reasonable, perhaps a tad high, but the merchandise is unique and gorgeous. I never fail to get something here: Westie cards and magnets, tog toys, etc. - stuff I don't see anywhere else. A must-visit for the dog lovers out there. read more

I've been to countless pet stores over the decades, but B.I. Barkery is by far my favorite, paws down! From the outside, you can see what care the owner has taken to picking items she showcases. Once you're inside, you're greeted with wonderful enthusiasm and engagement. No one was ignored the entire time they were inside. The lovely woman working on a Saturday afternoon (Carol, I believe) was warm and engaging. She talked about how the business got started, how the owner is so thoughtful about items she sells (and it shows) and she gave me great insight into the locally baked doggy cookies, cannoli and cupcakes. They smelled so delicious that I wanted to take a bite! Our son asked a couple questions about a few things he liked, wondering if it was the right thing for his favorite pets - and Carol was so delightful, treating him as if he were an adult, having a nice conversation with him. I believe she's a former school teacher. This shop is set up exactly how I would set up one if I were to own a pet product company. I'm just sorry that we missed the Human Society's adoption hour earlier in the day. I can't wait to visit them again the next time I'm on the island. I can't recommend any pet supply/gift store more highly. This is the best one of it's kind and like I said, I've been to scores of them. read more

The Barkery is one of my most favorite places to visit on the island! All of the employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and will happily shower your dog with attention and treats. Toys -- The store has a great variety of toys to entertain your dog or cat. I love to spoil my Corgi with toys, and every toy that we've purchased from the Barkery has lasted a very long time. They are high quality and you definitely get what you pay for! As an example, my dog still has a squeaky snake in near perfect condition she personally picked out herself from over half a year ago. That is saying a lot considering she loves to rip toys open as fast as possible. Treats -- There are tons of chews, biscuits, and freeze-dried treats to choose from. A lot of their stuff is very limited ingredients that even my picky dog loves to eat (TRY THE BARE BITES!). Additionally, there are some very adorable (and evidently tasty) yogurt-iced cookies that range in prices of $1 to ~$3. My Corgi loves the cannolis the most. Lastly, the Barkery also has events that happen on a monthly basis where you can shop with a discount on most things in the store. There's also sales that happen pretty frequently that include items like collars, holiday stuff, and a bunch of other stuff. If you think you'll be back for more (and you probably will), be sure to pick up a Barkery punch card; once you fill it up, you get a nice discount that will come in handy down the line for sure! read more

Simply fantastic pet store experience. We have one dog and we spoil him all the time. We walked into this pet store on a day trip to Bainbridge to see if there were any new treats to offer him. We were pleasantly surprised, not only by the items for the dog, but also the items for us! We walked away about $100 lighter, loaded with goodies for the dog, a new painting by a local artist of dogs drinking wine, and funny magnets. It fit our personalities perfectly! Our dog inhaled all of the treats that we bought him. We also bought him a rope toy that looked like a penguin for tough chewers (which he is). This only last 3 minutes before he had the whole thing unwound and in shreds, sadly. The painting that we bought was done for many different breeds and looks great on our wall. The employee/owner(?) was very friendly and chitchatted politely for a short time, then she let us browse. She was as interested in us as our dog and offered great advice when asked. She seemed genuinely in love with all things dog. It was such a pleasant shopping experience, I'd suggest coming here even if you don't have dogs to pick up a gift for your dog loving friends or family members! read more

Stumbled across this gem while walking around Bainbridge Island. Cute store for dogs. I decided to peruse around the shop. My mini poodle's birthday recently passed and wanted to find a yummy treat to bring back to her. They had a lot of specialty treats and toys for four legged furry friends. I believe the lady who helped me was the shop owner and she was helpful. The shop had a nice little bakery area with different type of goodies. From doughnuts to cannolis, you name it.. they probably had it. I settled with some doughnuts for my little love bug. I have yet to give them to her, but when I came home.. she couldn't stop sniffing the bag. I think the doughnuts will be a hit with this little diva. This is a super cute store! The woman working there I think was the owner and she was very friendly and knowledgable. I've been to a lot of pet stores, and while this one does not sell pet food, it does have treats, toys, clothes, beds, and other supplies. A lot of her stuff I haven't seen before and it seems very well chosen. There's also fun stuff for pet lovers, which is fun. We bought a new chewy and a bright white clip on safety light for night walking. I can't wait to go back. read more

On a recent day trip to Bainbridge Island, we stumbled on this little gem of a pet store. A little background: We love boutique pet stores. Our dog is a little spoiled, so we like to bring him back treats when we take trips. The thing is that most of them start to look the same. Same locally baked treats, same locally made expensive toys, same organic hemp collars and leashes. Once you've bought at one place, there isn't a whole lot left to buy elsewhere. BI Barkery, though, was different. Sure, there were the obligatory scoop-your-own treats in the middle of the store, and sure there were all kinds of locally-sourced items, but they were unique. We bought the dog a big bag of treats (we usually buy a small bag to be polite to the store), and we bought some fun dog-related trinkets and decorations. Every time we head to Bainbridge for the day, I'll be sure to stop by here and pick up some goodies! read more

When this place first opened and there was that feature in the local paper about it, I was skeptical. I stumbled upon it while in town and thought the items seem a bit luxurious for my dog. One day, in an attempt to discharge some of pangs of guilt (I had been away on business), I decided to get a couple of fancy treats from here for my dog. My dog would light up every time I'd present the treat. Anyways, now I have a Pavolian association with guilt and alleviation of that guilt with my dog. That could get expensive. read more

Relatively pricey but not super expensive and all products were definitely for those health conscious about their pet's diet. Lots of other trinkets and non food items to shop for as well. I am in the store at least once a week - which, of course, my dogs are thrilled with because they get presents or treats!! My dog, Bella, knows exactly where we are when we stop in Winslow and pulls me to the door in excitement. She is always greeted with a treat from the staff. Good customer service is very important to me, and we have always been welcomed with a friendly hello (and a treat if I have Bella or another dog with me). I have dachshunds and they have A LOT of dachshund items for me - cool artwork, magnets, doormats, etc... I think I have a wall filled with items bought at the B.I. I LOVE THIS STORE! You can bring your dog with you too. She has treat samples t/o the store, so your dog can test before you buy. There's really fun pet specific art, beautiful pillows, candles, different collars and leashes (i.e. recycled climbing rope in bright colors) and you can even order color coordinating dog tags that are made and mailed directly to your home w/i days of shopping. The product line is from local WA sources or "Made in USA", so it's safe and healthy!
