We met Bob yesterday when we came in to check out the cars and also look into selling one of ours -- B.K. is a consignment dealer. Bob is super friendly and great to talk to. He obviously knows his stuff and has a very comprehensive set of guidelines for anyone considering selling their car through his business. His prices seem more than reasonable and he also takes steps to ensure all cars sold on his lot are checked out ahead of time in order to protect everyone involved. It's a great system and I think we'll be signing up once we get our car serviced (anyone in the market for an '06 Mustang??)....Plus, an added advantage for anyone selling a car is exposure. Bob's lot is right next to the busy intersection of Rtes. 1 & 92, so there is a TON of traffic throughout the day. Your vehicle is bound to get noticed fast. I attempted to contact B K about a a car they had for sale. I called on a Wednesday early afternoon and got an answering machine. I left a very detailed message about the vehicle i was interested in and left my call back number. I did not receive a call back from the dealership, so the following day i again called the dealership to inquire about something i had seen on a Carfax that was not the same as the details listed for this particular car. This time i spoke with Bob and told him about the difference in the information. Bob said he would get me a copy of the work order about the information listed. I gave Bob my email address and phone number, he said i would get the information the same day. Here we are two days later and crickets. (no response, via phone or email.) So either Bob is not being truthful about the cars condition or he is not a very customer service oriented sales person. In closing he might be ok for someone who walks onto the lot, but for someone who might want to buy a vehicle and is 150 miles away he is TERRIBLE with follow up. My husband called Bob (owner) to inquire on the cost for cleaning a very dirty and old car in preparation to sell. My husband asked for the max price we may have to pay (very dirty). We didn't want to drive to HMB (30 min each way) if the price was not right. He told us that the max would be $295. We made an appointment and drove there (2 cars, since we were leaving one car there and had to go pick it up). Once we got there, Bob changed the price to $450 even though we asked him for the max price on the phone. He said he told us that he needed to look at it when he gave us the price. But that is incorrect as we would not have taken the car to him if there were any doubts on the price. We didn't give him our business because I believe that if you cannot trust a person's word, you should not deal with them. read more

Bob detailed my horse trailer recently and it looks terrific! The trailer had been sitting outdoors for several years, unused, so it had a significant layer of grunge. Bob's folks were careful with the power washer but got the trailer very clean, made some small repairs and figured out the appropriate wax or protectant for the different trailer finishes. A trusted source recommended Bob to me and I had mixed feelings about our interaction. On the plus side I think he is a nice guy and gave me a solid number when discussing what he'd pay for my car. On the minus side he gave me a lowball, wholesale figure which I was not interested in at all. Granted, that is the name of the consignment game, right? He's buying at wholesale and selling at retail. But what really made a lasting impression on me were the things he said during our discussion about selling the car. He was very fear-based, almost as if he thought he could scare me into selling my car to him. He said, "Well you just keep plugging along then. You know the value will just keep dropping. Be careful you aren't trying to sell this car next year...." as if I were trying to sell a 1973 Pinto. I wasn't. I was selling (and have since sold!) a 2008 Infinity G35S with 3 out of 4 premium packages on it! This car was loaded with features and was in exceptional condition because I loooooooved the car and took good care of it. Luckily for me, I am not fear-based; I am strategic. And I talked to different people in my own network who I thought would be interested in a gently used high-performance sedan. Good thing too as I now have $3000 more than I would have if I consigned the car with Bob. That said, there is a time and place for consignment. If you just want to sell your car, and price isn't really that important but convenience is, Bob was the nicest guy I met out of all of the consignment shops I visited. Selling a car is not for the faint of heart and you have to stick with it to close that sale. I personally like a challenge and to keep more money in my pocket when I am selling a gorgeous, well-maintained vehicle. Most importantly, I know what's what and there is no reason to give away a very valuable car (despite what someone might say to the contrary!) when you can just put in a little more effort and reap the rewards yourself. read more

I have purchased and sold my car with BK Motors. Bob Kay, the owner, is such a nice guy. I know that shocking as he is a car salesman, but it's true. BK Motors is a consignment car dealership. You can get your car detailed and bring it in or they can do it for you. The average price is about 200 bucks and includes a full detail, paint touch ups, popping out dents, etc. His consignment fee is ridiculously reasonable as he does everything for you. Everything. If you have a car loan, he takes care of paying it off. If your car is from out of state (which mine was), he takes care of all the paperwork (and you would be surprised by the paperwork required to sell a car). Bob Kay is a small business owner who lives in the bay area. He is honest and straightforward (which is why he gets so many repeat customers). If you need someone to deal with selling your car and all the extra time and details that go with it, I highly recommend him. I've been taking my vehicles to BK Motors for about a year now. My brother bought a car from him years back and he was happy with the experience. I got my parents 93' Volvo 960 detailed there as a mother's day present. It came back looking like it had just rolled off the showroom floor. I did it while they were out of town and had difficulty working out the transportation after I dropped off the car and picking it up at the end of the day. Bob gave me a ride in the BK car both times. I get my car cleaned there every so often. The $30 hand wash. I drive 100 miles a day for work and my car gets dirty pretty fast. After taking my Christmas tree to the dumps there were pine needles all over the interior. After they cleaned it, my car was perfect. Inside and out! Bob is a pleasant, honest, upfront person. He's also very intelligent. I've sold vehicles off Craig's List. For every legit email I got, I recieved 10 from people trying to con me. While chaperoning a field trip, I had a 9 year old get car sick all over the interior of my 4 year old Subaru, even on the console, radio, steering wheel...I know, gross... - I had seen BK Motors signs and called to see about making an appointment. Bob returned my call immediately and was able to take my car in the same day. He explained the options for detailing and I decided to have the exterior done as well - what a great decision - the car looks absolutely new! The exterior is so smooth you slip if you try to lean on the hood! His detailer got every scratch out - I never imagined it could look that good Even the engine is now spotless! More importantly, the interior smells remarkably brand-new and there is not a trace of anything left behind. He took out the console to clean every part of it, and I can't believe how he got it so clean and odor-free. The leather chairs are back to being soft and supple like when I bought it. So, I brought my sister's car in to be detailed. This was not an ordinary job: She lives in the middle of a field, has multiple animals ("multiple" hereinafter defined as "think of a reasonable number of animals for a person who does not run a shelter to have, then multiply that by a number between 3 and 5"), and transports all kinds of things in her car. The car was filthy outside and every interior surface was covered in dust, hay, and innumerable random items. These included, but were not limited to, seven pieces of clothing, six random weird things [swim goggles, a bow tie, two sets of binoculars, expired food], five types of lip balm, four ancient notepads, three useless squeegees, two broken brushes, and a check register from 2013. Hum it to the tune of the Twelve Days of Christmas . . . We had some excellent reasons to suspect that there were mice and/or rats living somewhere in the car . . . I made an appointment, apologized for not emptying all the stuff out of the car first (I didn't even attempt to move or organize anything) and dropped it off. The next morning I picked up a completely immaculate car. Not only was all the hay and other questionable filth gone from the interior, but the contents had been separated into clothes-type items and other stuff, one bagged and one put in a box. Every inch of the car was spotlessly clean. Not only that, they took it upon themselves to pound out a large dent and fill some of the other dings on the exterior. All for less than the price I used to pay at Ducky's to detail my already by comparison ridiculously clean car. I am absolutely a HUGE fan for life. I should have taken before and after pictures, because this detail was truly epic. read more

I'm a Bay Area native of 57 years with 4 years living on the coast. Bob of BK motors is also a Bay Area native and knows what it means to be ethical and at the same time provide a great experience. I had my 2012 Jeep detailed before I was going to sell it. Bob and his team did such a good job it made me second guess selling the Jeep. It came out that nice! I just sold my second car with BK Motors. Last year I sold my BMW X3. I had just moved here from the East Coast and had Ct. plates and registration. Before I took the car to BK, I did all the running around: went to DMV and did all the paperwork and paid for new registration, not realizing that if I brought it to BK Motors they would have done it all. Their fee to try to sell your car is reasonable considering all they do to get your car sold: detailing, advertising, exposure of car in a great place (Hwy 1 and 92). Aside from the ease of selling your car, the owner Bob is great. He takes a personal interest in you and tries to make the deal equitable for himself and the seller. I so enjoyed doing business at his office. His dad is there most of the time, such a nice gentlemen, and the office is filled with fascinating pictures of his father when he was a pilot. Also being a cat lover, I got to meet the two friendly resident cats. This may seem like foo foo stuff, but it really made selling my cars a real pleasant experience. So as I mentioned earlier, I just sold my second car through Bob. My son was with me when I went to pick up the check for the sold car. My son may be in the market for a used car in the near future.
