My daughter has now graduated from Karina's speech program and has a solid handle on her R sounds! I really appreciated Karina's willingness to go above and beyond by researching options and connecting our family with additional resources to help my daughter with her migraine challenges that are associated with her speech struggles. I also appreciate Karina's flexibility in meeting with us via ZOOM! I cannot recommend Karina enough for anyone looking for a speech-language pathologist! Thank you, Karina, for all of your help in my daughter's speech therapy journey!

As soon as he started services with her, we noticed the rapid change in his speech. She gave us so many helpful tips with how to help him annunciate phonic sounds, words, and just overall how to meet him at his speech level. They worked very well together and he always looked forward to his sessions with her. It's so nice to be able to have our children learn through play. That's exactly what Karina did - meet him where he was at and initiated play. We did try the in-office speech prior to meeting Karina and that did not go so well. Luckily, we were able to get services with her. She cares so much about every child she works with. She is also a great advocate and gave us and his teachers tools to utilize while in the classroom. Our son has come a VERY long way from when he first started with her. He is now able to engage in conversations, finish his sections (3-4 sentences) and has slowed down A LOT. Thank you, Karina for ALL of the work you've helped us with. We are so grateful for you!

However, my interaction with their administrative staff this morning left me wondering how many other parents/families experience the same interaction I had. I hate to leave businesses these type of reviews, but here my experience goes! I placed my son on the wait list several months ago after reading all of the wonderful Yelp reviews and this being so close to home. As we all know, there is such a high demand for speech services, so I was extremely glad that I was able to even place him on their wait list. Well, today I received a call from their facility. I was given the option of enrolling my son into two sessions (Thursday in the afternoon and Friday at 8am). I do understand that I selected the open availability selection, but seriously, 8am? That's the time I start work. Anyway, I didn't mention that to the admin lady. I asked her if I can give her a call back in five minutes. She proceeds to tell me, "I mean, I'm going down the list of parents who stated they have an open availability spot, so you can call me back, but this is a first come first serve type of spot." Or whatever she said at the end. Then she stated, "Open availability means you can come at anytime." Now, this irritated me because why would you try to be condescending? I also needed to consult the time with my husband given we work two different schedules and needing to confirm Friday at 8am would work for him. I would've also had to notify my supervisor who is extremely supportive. But, after she stated that I gave an attitude back and told her to remove my son from the waitlist then I hung up. I'm very disappointed given I felt this could've worked if she would've allowed me to confirm scheduling with 1. My husband and 2. My employer, however there wasn't much grace there which resulted in how the conversation ended. I hope your experience is better than mine! Good luck to all the parents trying to enroll their children in services.

Small Talk Therapy felt far more focused on payments than on the actual progress and well-being of the children they're working with. As a parent, that's honestly heartbreaking to say. I went in hoping for support, guidance, and genuine care for my child's growth, but instead I left feeling like just another transaction. Therapy for kids should feel collaborative, compassionate, and centered around development -- not money. If you're looking for a place that truly prioritizes your child's progress and communicates with empathy, I would encourage you to do your research before choosing this clinic. This was just my experience, but it's one I wish I had known about beforehand.

The appointment scheduler started setting up a new patient profile, but midway through, I asked her to let me know what availability they had before we were added as a new patient. She said he could be seen this week, but Dr Vadapalli requires a separate hearing test before the first doctor visit, and if it's not covered by insurance, it can cost $250 to $500 in addition to the visit. I told her that makes no sense to do a hearing test before his ears were cleaned out, instead of after, because I'd want to know if his hearing was affected AFTER any wax buildup was flushed. I said I would agree to a same day hearing test, but wanted it done after the visit, because any wax should be cleaned first, and I'd want to know if we were in network prior. The policy was strict, but only with that doctor, so I asked to make an appointment with another doctor, instead, who wasn't available until next week. As she's completing the patient profile, I started reading through these reviews, so I asked to let me know if we were in network. I gave her our insurance information, and she confirmed we were in network for the doctor visit, but someone else would call me back to let me know if a hearing test would be in network. I asked her if they charged $250 instead of the insurance copayment, and she said they did not. After the new patient profile was completed, and we'd made the appointment, she said I had to give my credit card information. I told her I'd pay the copay when I arrived, but was not leaving my financial info. She said the card was needed to charge a $250 deposit, which would be refunded when insurance paid. I asked why she'd just told me they don't charge $250, only to say they actually do charge $250, and that she'd already confirmed I was in network. She said their policy is strict. I actually would be charged $250, before the visit. I cancelled the appointment. I have no idea how the doctors themselves are, but there are way too many red flags with their billing, and that required hearing test before blocked ears were cleaned.

I paid for the ear wax removal and audiology test as requested and was given a number for Keck USC Billing 855-532-5729, in case of billing issues. Within a week my insurance paid 100% of the services. I have been trying to get my money back since March 16th when I emailed customer service at Med USC with all my receipts and insurance EOB as proof of payment. I have made several phone calls and spoken to several reps and supervisors trying to get my refund to no avail. USC has stated that the SCENT billing department will not get back to them with the funds and to approve the refund. I have also left a couple of messages asking for a call back from SCENT billing department but have not received any calls back. I see now that this is a trend for this medical practice. Please do yourself a favor and seek for medical care elsewhere unless you're a cash paying patient. Also, I see now why they have so many openings and are willing to see you right away.

I had to cancel my appointment approximately an hour and a half before the scheduled session because I received a call from my son's school informing me that he was not feeling well and needed to be picked up immediately. As any parent knows, illnesses and emergencies do not happen on a schedule. Children can become sick at any time, and sometimes there is simply no way to provide additional notice. Despite explaining the situation, I was still charged a $50 cancellation fee. When I spoke with the bookkeeper, Gladys, there was no willingness to consider the circumstances or show any flexibility. I was told that the fee could not be waived or reimbursed, regardless of the reason. What makes this especially disappointing is that this is a facility that works with children, including autistic children. Families caring for children with special needs often face unexpected challenges, illnesses, sensory overload, and meltdowns that cannot always be predicted within a strict cancellation window. I would expect a therapy center serving these families to show more understanding and compassion. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling like the policy mattered more than the well-being of the children and families they serve. Rather than feeling supported, I felt like just another number being charged a fee. As a result, today was my last session with this facility. I will be taking my business elsewhere to a therapy provider that values families, understands real-life circumstances, and prioritizes children over profits. I hope management takes the time to reconsider how situations involving sick children and family emergencies are handled in the future.

The program provides therapy for child development, including OT and speech therapy, and it has truly helped my nephew so much. When he first started the program, he didn't speak a single word. Now he is talking a lot more and is able to express himself, which has been incredible to see. The progress he has made shows how much care and effort the team puts into helping every child grow and develop. We also attend a group class once a week, and it's wonderful. It's a great opportunity for the kids to interact, learn together, and continue building their skills in a supportive environment. The teachers, Stephanie and Justin, are the best. They are patient, kind, and truly dedicated to helping the children succeed. I honestly love all the teachers there -- they create such a warm and positive place for the kids. I highly recommend the Progressive Steps Program to any family with children who may be experiencing developmental delays. It's a truly special place that helps children find their voice and reach their potential.
