I searched around my neighborhood and found this little shop. I called and left a voicemail and within an hour I got a text from the owner Trisha and set my appointment l. She called me the next day and did a consult on how I would like my hair. She was very friendly and took note. On the day of my appointment she was nice enough to call me and ask if I wanted anything before I arrived. Parking at the shop was just street parking (took me some time to figure it out) I came in and was again asked how I would like my hair. After braiding Trisha weaved my hair and we talked. She asked if I was comfortable and if it was too tight or not which it wasn't. After sewing it in she styled it, asked if I wanted layers or curls. She has a clean and hygienic salon. When I compare her to other stylists she's the best. I've had a few bad experiences with hair braiders, literally every time I tell them to not braid my hair too tight and "I don't care if the braids slip off next week just don't braid my hair too tight." I don't want headaches or skin pimpling because the braids are too tight. Amber actually listened. Problem solved. Also, I wear glasses. Most stylists would always tell me take them off and I've had a few bad experiences where I thought I was going to have to tape my glasses to my forehead because braids were too close and tight near my ears. Amber asked me questions about how often I wear my glasses. In some instances she insisted I keep my glasses on while she braided near my ears, so she can make sure my glasses fit with the braids. Before the braids even started, her assistant gave me the BEST wash I have had in over 10 years. I'm not exaggerating. It was gentle, thorough, and my scalp felt amazing.
