I came here today for a color correction after a hairstylist at Ulta made my hair black... and let me tell you how Trevor absolutely DELIVERED! Amazing service , amazing consultation, just amazing amazing and amazing ... Trevor was so knowledgeable and fun , so sweet , just a good human being ! My niece and I just got amazing blow outs at Crown Envy! We got beach waves / Utah Curls! We were both so happy with the results! It's also close to Erewhon if you need a quick stop for the Hallie Bieber smoothie! It's so adorable inside! All the decor is brand new, and everyone was so nice and welcoming. The salon (formerly Hair Zoo) been completely refurbished and is under new ownership as of March 2025. I really like the vibes inside. It was also really easy to park our suv (a miracle in this area). Afterwards, we were just minutes from Santa Monica's park and pier! Our hair looked stunning in all the photos we took by the beach. Totally recommend! A reasonable price for a fantastic blow out that lasted all day! P.S. Crown Envy is also woman-owned! I got to talk to both owners. They are down to earth moms who really care about their customers. I might be back for extensions soon! read more

TREVOR! OK, so I started at this location when it was Hair Zoo and was impressed by the revamp and new management to Crown Envy. Trevor, my stylist for a few years now, was who I originally went to and likely will remain going to as long as he'll take me. Salon is always clean. Ability to book appointments is easy and straight forward. I feel like I'm getting a great service for the cost and I always love how my hair looks. I will also specify, I have an absolutely massive head of really, really curly hair. Trevor is able to understand my "wants" without me having any capabilities describing them in a way that probably makes any real sense, but it always ends up great. I saw him today for a butterfly weft extension move-up, and as always, he went above and beyond. I honestly don't write bad reviews but I have not had an experience like this before. I have been to Hairzoo once before and got a haircut with Trevor who did a good job for the first time cutting my hair. When I booked Trevor again, I was notified day of that Trevor was out and Carly was available to cut my hair or I could reschedule with Trevor for another day. With my hair getting pretty long, I wanted to get the trim now and saw Carly had some good reviews under her belt. I don't know if it was an off day or what, but I felt the communication was not there and I left with such a terrible haircut. I showed reference photos which I attached here and overall said I wanted a light trim to refresh the shape and add volume. I watched as my hair was cut the opposite direction of what I intended to ask about, before I could clarify what I meant. My hair was also pinned up in layers (which as a guy I have not had done before) so it made it hard for me to gauge the length/shape. Then once I said the length in the back was fine (it at least matched the sides better which I realized at that point were butchered), Carly went to take my barber's cover off and end the haircut. This was without trimming my bangs at all (which when straightened were below my eyes). I pointed that out and she did a quick snip. At the end after sitting with this for two days, there are parts that look uneven and just very shabby overall. There was an offer to come back within the same week and get some adjustments done, but right now my hair is too short for me to trust going back. Carly seemed very sweet, but nervous. I would be hesitant to book again. read more

I'm not one to write a review, but when a service is THIS good, I have to let to community know! I booked a balayage and haircut with Travis, and I was welcomed by the new owners Ashleigh and Rachel! They introduced me to Travis and offered me a complimentary drink while I got situated. Travis asked me questions on what I'm looking for, and fortunately I had already looked through his Instagram to see how portfolio, so I had examples and inspiration ready to show him! The last time I had a balayage was almost 2 years ago, so I was looking to change it up to something more warm and like a "golden caramel goddess" moment . Travis took his time with the balayage and made sure everything was blended well, and the final look really shows the care he takes into his work. I mean, look at my hair transformation! (I also couldn't believe I was walking around with my old hair looking like that, how embarrassing lol) I had never been to Hairzoo before, but it looks like the salon has a change in ownership and rebranding as Crown Envy! Everyone was SO nice, and I also really loved how much the owner and Travis' coworkers were commenting and complimenting on the hair transformation process! The prices are incredibly reasonable. Been to this place many time over the years and highly recommend it. I've only ever gotten a blow out here from a variety of people over the years, most recently Toni and it's really lovely every time. They do a good job with the hair listening to what I want. I have seen women, men, kids and teenagers come in for haircuts and walk out looking happy. WARNING! I've been happy at Hair Zoo in the past and wrote glowing reviews. I usually don't take the time to write bad ones but now that I've read recent reviews from Megan and Sam, I've changed my mind. You need to know because apparently we all had the ERIC experience. Never, never, had I had such a bad cut. I was butchered. Before I could ask him to make sure my hair remained long enough to tuck behind my ears he snipped it down to the scalp in front of my eyes. It's like a man's haircut with a tuft on the top. I even went back a few days later (after calling) to ask if there was something I missed. Had he finished cutting? How did he see it? Maybe blowing it out would help? He didn't know what I was talking about. I lifted some hair in the back and pointed out that it hadn't been shaped or cut, so he just cut another chunk off. There is nothing to do but wait and wear my hats this fall. read more
