They have good soy sauce chicken and barbecue duck here. If you live close to Malden, this is the best that you're going to get unless you want to go to Chinatown in Boston. I will generally ask them to not chop up the meat for me. It's convenient and they do it very quickly, but my boyfriend is not a fan of the shards of bone co-mingling with the meat. I will warn you that cutting it up at home will result in a HUGE mess because these birds are fatty, but it's worth it to me to carefully debone the meat. There's a bit of a language barrier but that doesn't stop me from asking for extra ginger scallion oil. Ask for it. They will give you one sauce. It's really good and we're not Chinese and they don't understand that we can't get enough of it. The soy sauce is also good. There is a bakery here but I've only ever gotten the meat. It is a typical Chinese cafe. Basic. No frills. Nothing fancy. The food just kind of speaks for itself. This is a To-go place. Visiting from FL. Came on a Sunday around 1pm. It was very quiet. They've already sold out the egg tarts. Wanted to take some pastries when we're at the airport the next day. Grabbed a few different pork buns, pineapple bun, taro bun, and coconut bun. Prices are definitely better than the pastry shops in Central FL area. The lady that rang me up was very nice. I would have liked to try their duck but I guess next time. Having the coconut bun as I'm typing this, it's got a very decent amount of coconut filling. My main draw- they sell zhoong here. Pricey at about $5~ a pop, but considering the labor of love I get it. They sell your typical Chinese baked goods. Egg tarts, buns, sponge cake. I think everything here is good, and it fills a craving when I want a Chinese pastry and I'm in the area. They do take card but cash is always king esp in a mom and pop shop like this. If you do not want to trek all the way to Boston for the best mango mousse cake (May's cake house) , then B2 is your second choice without having to deal with the traffic and parking situation in Chinatown. The cake was moist and fresh. Mangoes were not in season so it was not as sweet as I expected. The regular 6inch is roughly $25 while the mango mouse is $32.34. They have other sizes and flavors. Aside from cakes, they have your favorite sponge cakes, rice dumplings, egg tarts etc. At the BBQ station, you can order soy chicken, scallion flavored chicken, duck, char siu, ribs etc (See photo for prices and options). For the adventurous eaters, they have tripe, liver, duck feet and so on. Want a meal out of it? You can order rice with one, two or three Bbq choices. Staff here are super polite and willing to sell bbq items for half a pound. In Chinatown, you will get rude service, plus they always force you to buy more than half a pound. In the fridge, I saw frozen buns (probably char siu and custard?) No tables but near the entrance I saw a couple of high chairs so maybe for folks who want a quick bite? My friend got me a delicious fresh fruit cake with the cloud frosting. I love Asian desserts because they're not too sweet and delicious. Came here on a Sunday afternoon to look at some of the selections and settled with getting a few pastries including a pineapple bun with real pineapple in it - definitely unique and super tasty! Their lunch meal looked super enticing as they roast their own duck and you're able to get several other meats along with rice for a super cheap price. Definitely worth a visit! A very nice Chinese bakery. They even take cards, with a $10 min. Here's the run down of what I've tried: On the bakery side: Another review compared this place's egg tarts to my favorite Chinatown bakery, so my expectations were high, and they were met! A nice flaky, crisp tart shell! I feel like the custard was not quite perfect, but definitely a good egg tart. BBQ pork pastry had AMAZING BBQ pork, but the pastry bit was a bit dry (would probably get this as a bun next time) -- this did make me go back to get the BBQ pork though haha. Pineapple bun was the only miss, as the 'pineapple' topping wasn't very good and kinda dry. I feel like I should've gotten their version with the real pineapple filling. Cheese and scallion bun had a nice bread, but was mainly a 'bready' bun, which wasn't totally my preference. Lemon cake is the standard style of this cake and exactly what I wanted! Milk tea, less sugar was fine, but I'm not sure it would be worth getting again as it's not particularly strongly 'tea' flavor. On the butcher side: The roast duck and BBQ pork were both very tasty and had good texture. They did feel quite MSG heavy though, like almost TOO savory? I'd go back for it though! read more

There aren't a lot of places that I give 5 stars to. B2 Cafe deserves it. This is my mom's go-to place for Chinese BBQ meats and bakery. Strange combination, I know, but it works. Here are some of the best items: 1. HK Milk Tea - This is a very legit milk tea. It's not CA or Hong Kong quality, but it will do for Boston. Since I'm crazy about HK Milk Tea, I've been trying to find a legit milk tea ever since I moved from CA. It is strong, smooth and not too creamy. I compared it to Rubato Cafe's and I feel that this one has more of a "tea" taste, and is less creamy. If you like it more creamy, then Rubato Cafe's is better. I like mine strong and less creamy, so B2 Cafe's HK Milk Tea hits the spot. 2. Roast Pork (Siu Yook) - The absolute BEST. The meat is seasoned perfectly and the tougher meat closer to the bone is heaven, full of taste. 3. Egg Tart - My favorite used to be at Great Taste Bakery in Chinatown, but I no longer go to Chinatown. In fact, B2 Cafe's egg tart, IMO, is better. The filling is light, just the right amount of sweet without being too custardy. 4. BBQ Pork Bun (Char Siu Bao) - There is something about this bao that makes it special. It might be the onions inside - it is so flavorful! These are my top items that make it 5 stars. The rest of the stuff is good too, but these 4 items are just outstanding. I read that a former baker at Eldo Cake House is working at B2. I came here hoping that B2 could become my go-to Chinese bakery replacing the now closed Eldo Cake house for me. And I'm very happy so far. The baked char siu baos are as good as Eldo Cake house and the joong are much better. The steamed char siu baos are smaller than Eldo, closer to the size typically served at dim sum, but they have more filling than Eldo's used to so I'm happy with those too. I was there at 7am Sunday so they didn't have everything out yet, but I'll be back. They also sell char siu, siu yuk, and roast duck. The char siu is ok. It's more honey based than soy + hoisin. I'll get roast meats there because it's more convenient than going into Chinatown. And everything is clean and new which is nice. For all of you looking for a replacement for Eldo Cake House, you should definitely come here. read more

Since Eldo's closed in Chinatown. I had to find a place with good cake and we found this place. It's just as good as Eldo's cake, maybe a little better in a way with the filling inside the cake. We were so excited when B2 opened! They serve a lot of Chinese pastries including the delicious Chinese fruit cakes. My bf got me one for my birthday last year and it was so good! They also have the classic pastures such as egg tarts and pork sung buns. However my favorite would have to be the freshly cooked meats that they serve. The crispy pork is so crispy on top and juicy on the bottom. It's almost always cooked perfectly and goes so well with just rice. We also usually get their duck and chicken both of which is juicy and tender. Would definitely recommend!
