My 3rd positive Yelp review of my experience at B2V Salon... I've seriously known Adam since 2007. I needed to come back to see him for a color update. I came in with somewhat yellow hair, and Adam fixed it. I'm always happy with him and his magic results. Adam is professional, and very personable. He's wonderfully talented and super knowledgeable about everything in life and hair. I've been coming to this salon off and on since this salon opened in 2000? EVERYONE is kind and I'm loving their hair products selection. They proudly carry Milbon, Rene Furter, Unite, a small amount of Aveda and Kerastase. Yes, it feels like my home away from home. Adam and B2V are worth my long drive from Mission Viejo. EVERY stylist is an artist there, all I've seen is great hair walking out of their door. Their prices vary depending on stylist, but they aren't cheap or crazy expensive, either. Bring cash for tipping and valet. They don't take Amex. Their salon is always clean and welcoming. I cannot say enough good things about my last visit to this idyllic neighborhood salon in West Hollywood. Steve is an absolute gem and David Stanko is a color genius! My hair was in desperate need of a color repair and had turned too red for my liking. I don't trust many with my hair but David and Steve listened to all my hair concerns. I really liked my hair stylist Erin as a person but after taking the afternoon off from work, I am so disappointed with my color and haircut. My hair is naturally black and I wanted some highlights. I showed a couple photos with caramel highlights. What received looks like I have some blondish stripes similar to a zebra. It's very uneven in color, tone, and placement. The best part is that once the purple faded, I was left with a really nice ombre to carry me into the spring months. I appreciate that Michelle has the skill to take hair color in many directions, but can anticipate the long term result as well and minimize the need for excess upkeep or reprocessing. Wow, wow, wow! I can't say enough good things about Heidi at B2V... She truly transformed my hair! I moved to LA several months ago and was in desperate need of a cut, color, and hair makeover after several months of hair neglect. I asked a girlfriend of mine who always has fabulous hair where she goes, and she recommended Heidi at B2V salon. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by the staff and felt comfortable in the cute boutique salon. Heidi came out to introduce herself and instantly put me at ease with her friendly and professional demeanor. She whisked me back to her chair and talked to me at length about my hair habits, what I wanted to do differently, and the type of look I was going for. We looked up pictures online together of different looks I wanted to achieve and what would work best for me and my hair. I got the sense that Heidi truly cares about her customers and their needs- she listened attentively to me and offered valuable suggestions based on my comments and her professional experience. She is not one of those stylists who is trying to "Guinea pig" her clients with a look that will not work for them- she is truly interested in finding what works for the PERSON, taking into account their habits, occupation, and lifestyle. She was also very candid with her comments, so I did not get the sense that she would agree with me if I wanted something that would not work for my needs. After getting an idea of the direction we were going in, she set to work. After a couple of hours of engaging conversation, genuine interest, and what I can only describe as magical cut and color skills- my hair was transformed! Even though it took a couple of hours, there was not one minute that I felt bored. The conversation did not feel forced (I have experienced that with other stylists in the past) and we laughed and had a great time throughout my appointment. I even ordered lunch from the neighboring cafe and Heidi offered to run over and pick it up for me! She is the best! Heidi is now my one and only stylist in LA. She does incredible work, is extremely friendly and fun, and her professionalism and talent raise the bar for other stylists and salons in the area. John Le is the first person in the 20+ years I have been coloring my hair that has truly "got me" and left me happy with his work absolutely every single time. I truly will never see anyone else. My hair is very challenging- it's thick, curly, and tends to not take to color like most hair. John knew exactly what to do immediately, and his blow outs and cuts are absolutely the best too. On top of John being superbly skilled, this salon is just lovely in general. You can actually find free and easy parking, everyone is friendly, the ambience feels nice without feeling intimidating, and they're always brewing fresh coffee (I LOVE coffee!). I've been getting my haircut by Pati now for over a year and I was sold by the 2nd cut (first cut was perfect, but you have to be sure they are consistent!). I was worried that most of the photos that I saw were clipper cuts and I don't look great with super short hair, but Pati listened to what I wanted and gave me a great haircut using scissors and a razor to texturize and thin out some of the bulky areas. Pati is serious about her work, great at connecting with her clients, and makes your time at B2V great. Most importantly, she gives you the haircut you actually request. How great is that? read more

I was willing to try this salon again but the receptionist rudely kept putting me on hold to the point where I booked elsewhere I didn't like the haircut that the stylist gave me. I asked for a specific cut and he basically said we aren't doing that. He was recommended, so I went with it and it looked ok for the first couple days, but then became impossible to style because the stylist didn't pay attention to how my hair grows. It grew out badly, and after my experience trying to re-book, forget it. If B2V wants to charge $60+ for haircuts, maybe they should have sufficient reception or replace their receptionists with online bookings. read more

SUMMARY: 1. CHEMICAL BURNS ON MY FACE!! SCARS ON MY FACE! 2. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THROUGH BY MANAGEMENT/OWNERS 3. CUT/STYLE NOT SATISFACTORY 4. PRICE MISQUOTES Let's just say that i am an avid yelp user, but not a yelp reviewer. However the particular service that i received at this 'high-end' salon was too appalling for me NOT to mention anything. so i decided to sign up to yelp JUST to review this salon and give them a 1 star rating. So here, without further ado, is my first ever yelp review: REVIEW: I went to B2V for the first time two months ago on a Friday at the suggestion of a good friend. My hair is long and naturally wavy, so I was looking to chemically relax the length and clean up the sides. I arrived Friday morning, explained to my stylist what I wanted, we talked and he began. He relaxed my hair first. He said that the relaxer was not as harsh as usual so it shouldn't be too bad but to let him know of any tingling. My hair is thick and wavy so he left it on for more than 10 minutes, during which i did feel tingling sensations, but nothing painful. After the relaxer, i had a hair washer shampoo my hair about 5 times under the direction of the stylist. During this time i did feel minor tingling sensations along my hairline. we moved back to the seat and I had my hair cut. After the cut, the stylist proceeded to flat iron my already chemically relaxed hair, telling me that I wouldn't need to do that on my own. Towards the end of the appointment i started to notice uncomfortable sensations on my hairline but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. i paid and left. AFTERMATH: -FIRST, I was quoted that this would be 100 only to find that I was charged 115 (tip not incl.). A high price was expected, but at this supposedly 'high-end' salon, it makes good business sense to know your prices, and tell your customer the truth when they ask. Slapping this surprise on them as they check out wasn't a pleasant surprise. - SECOND, I returned home to find the tingling sensations gave way to CHEMICAL BURNS ON MY FACE! The tingling sensation gave way to actual burns and now there are huge scab/burn marks at the top of my forehead and on my temples, all along the hairline. I've been to two other places to get my hair relaxed earlier this year and they are not as exclusive or high-end, nor do they charge as much. However, at least when I went to those places, they BASED MY HAIRLINE WITH KY JELLY SO THAT I DIDN'T GET CHEMICAL BURNS. My face/hairline was not based at b2v, and I was assured that the chemical relaxer they were using was 'not as harsh' as others. Little did I know that trusting my hair care to these 'professionals' might end in SCARS ON MY FACE. -THIRD, i am unhappy with the cut/style. A previous attempt at a hair cut this year ended in a hard part along my hair that's been a bane and impossible to get rid of. I went to b2v and was assured that this would get rid of that hard part. Well guess what? It didn't! Not only is that hard part still there, but the stylist managed to migrate it more towards the center of my scalp. In addition, I find that I might as well have not gotten my hair relaxed as it is still as wavy as when I first got there. I was also assured that I wouldn't need to flat iron my hair to keep it straight, which is a lie as it seems to be the only way that I can get it to look like the way it was when I left. - FOURTH, it's been impossible to get closure from management. I got the cut Friday morning, and called Friday afternoon only to be assured by the stylist that 'it happens all the time' and that if I 'apply lotion to the areas it will be ok, just don't worry.' Unhappy with that answer (as my visit to two other salons earlier this year can attest), I tried to talk to the manager/owner only to be told that they'd give a refund. Going over a month since, the management has my number and address, and no refund. Just the run around through emails. Two months later and this matter is not closed. I'm a patient guy, and I've given ample opportunity for them to get back to me. But I've had enough. I'm not expecting this kind of service from some 'xpress cuts' down the street, however if your business philosophy is: '... a place where every client confidently receives the ultimate in professional and creative hair care. Where clients are attended to by a dedicated team ...fueled by a personal desire to provide the unique, and satisfying B2V Experience. ' then I'd expect better treatment in my hair care, and in the follow-ups. I've been reassured that this issue is very important and that management cares, however a lack of follow through shows otherwise. As a paying client, for an establishment that one expects to receive 'the ultimate in professional and creative hair care,' I am utterly disappointed in feeling so unimportant and neglected. The notorious Brazlian Blowout with Mauricio.... Here's the lowdown: I have long, fine hair which I baliage 5-6 times per year. It's wavy in some areas, stick straight in others plus i have like 4 cowlicks and it's just kinda messy looking unless I blow it out. Because I, too, am bringing sexy back, I decided to go for a treatment that would make my hair look shinier, heavier and straighter. It is supposedly non-damaging the hair and mostly natural ingredients. Keep in mind this is the NEW brazilian formula which is 100% formaldahyde free. I never had the old-school one which, apparently contained formaldahyde (ew!). I've been getting the brazilian for just over a year and a half now and it has saved my hair. It's pretty much wash and wear as I rarely pick up a blow-dryer anymore. It's long, shiny and straighter. I looove it. Mauricio is really, really good at his job and additionally is extremely warm and friendly. He will not rush you and will work with your hair until it's the way you want it. I so appreciate this about him. The salon itself is cozy and unpretentious. They sell Rene Furterer and Kerastase products (neither of which are my jam). There's easy to find street parking plus they have their own lot but it's usually overcrowded already, in my experience. The brazilian is $350 and then month to 6 weeks later i get the booster for $100 to make is last longer. I get the full brazilian 2-3 times per year. Pricey but worth it if you need to tame your mane. read more

My hair is ruined. I saw Eric originally to get an ombré coloring and he did a fabulous job. I went back to get my roots touched up 4 months later and told him how much I loved the last time he did my color and wanted the same thing. For some reason he decides to add highlights and put a darker all over color on. Not what I asked for. I told him I was unhappy and after a few days went back to get it fixed. Unfortunately to fix it he bleached my hair to death. I HAD gorgeous naturally curly hair and have never had to put any effort because my air dried curls WERE perfect. After his bleach job my hair doesn't hold curl. I now have horrific stringy fried hair. I had to cut off 6 inches just to make it look somewhat presentable and I'm so angry. Every time I do my hair it reminds me of the damage done by Eric. Who knows how long it will take to grow out just so I can cut off more of my damaged disgusting hair. Thanks a lot. Definitely NOT worth $125 especially since I've now spent an additional $200 in cuts and treatments to salvage the damage. read more

I would give Steve Lococo 10 stars if i could. For years i had to go to someone to do my color, and then someone different for my cut. Not only does Steve do the most wonderful color AND cut, but his blow dry is beautiful also. Everyone at the salon is very friendly, so i never mind spending a couple hours getting gorgeous color, highlights and a cut. I walk out feeling beautiful, with such soft, shiny and bouncy hair. Michelle Blasi....I LOVE you!!! So let me start by saying that I've never bought a groupon or livingsocial deal for anything related to hair and that's because I don't trust just anyone with my hair. So yes...could I get a "deal" with an offer from one of these sites? Sure! But I'm not interested because I got Michelle. I have very difficult hair and lots of grey hair (not fair)...I've also had super black hair, blonde hair, red hair, brown hair...so coloring my hair is not easy because of how much I've put my hair through. But Michelle has the ability to make me look fabulous every time and my hair looks healthy (it's a miracle). (I color my hair every 6 weeks because of the grey hair). I also have Michelle cut my hair (even though this happens once or twice a year) and I love the cut every time. Usually, she cuts lots and lots of layers. I'm going to see her again next week for my next fix and I can't wait!!! PS: The salon is so cute and the lady that washes hair (I forgot her name) is seriously amazing. Finding a new stylist in a new town is one of those to-dos you just don't want to have to do. But without a recommendation or referral, I rolled the dice and B2V has been my go-to for the last nine months. Yesterday, my appointment was next door at the swankier looking salon and Troy sorted out my hair and gave me great styling tips and basically a total hair health makeover plan. I left with cheekbones, I mean seriously, the cut was perfect for my face, my body... trust Troy! It's not cheap but it's certainly cheerful and you'll feel like a bazillion bucks as you cruise off with your killer blow out. Like most women, I am very picky when it comes to my hair. I will spend the money if I know it is going to look better than what I expected when I go in and most important, if the cut grows out nice. I have a hard time expressing what I want done, so I guess I also expect the stylist to be mind reader, as well as super creative and innovative (yeah, I'm not high maintenance) ;-) That's why I go to TROY PENN! I should also mention I have a ton of naturally curly hair, which is more difficult to cut, so I am told. So to find an amazing stylist that can cut curly hair well that doesn't leave me broke is actually not that easy. I have lived in LA my whole life and have been everywhere. I have been to some good stylists and some bad mostly mediocre, but now I can finally stop my search. Troy is so meticulous and just nails it every time. I just had my hair done two days ago and literally every person I come in contact with has given me a compliment. Troy just gets it... he knows what will work best for me as far as functionality and style. He is also great at introducing me to the most current color and cut trends. Since my hair usually takes some time to do, I love going somewhere that has a great comfortable vibe. Even though you will see an occasional celeb at B2V you will not experience an ounce of pretension. That is actually why Troy said he chose to work there... it has a great energy and everyone is super nice! Troy makes the time your there fly... it's like hanging with a friend. Oh yes...time for a change!! I called Thursday because I desperately needed the brassiness in my hair color to go away! They told me Michael Ryhan had an open spot for Saturday, so I booked it! Very cute, quaint place. Most of the stylists were male and it was like one big happy family!! The place was buzzing on a Saturday. Right away Michael and I started talking and before long, he transformed me back into a beautiful brunette without all that brassy nonsense I walked in with!! $75 later + tip I felt beautiful once again. I followed my rock star stylist, Janet Lazar, to this salon, and like her, it rocks! Parking is generally not a big issue, but Doheny does get busy at times. The atmosphere is busy and fun. As for Janet, she's the best! She takes the time to listen to what you want and she knows how to make it happen. She's been cutting my hair for years now and I plan for her to keep cutting it until either she can't see straight anymore or I lose my hair. Neither will be happening anytime soon. read more

Decided to give this salon a try based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp. And I have to say, my experience was entirely positive. I made an appointment for a consultation with the manager, Steve. Originally thought this was an unnecessary step, but am happy I did it. We discussed a subtle ombré using the balayage technique, and he then recommended John Le to color my hair and Erek J to cut. Nice touch to schedule a colorist and stylist who can do the best job with what you are looking to do with your hair. John Le was so friendly and genuinely cared about making sure that I was comfortable with changing my hair. We again discussed color and cut and he was able to combine his expert opinion with my vision. He was meticulous with his work and took his time delicately painting the color onto my hair. It's also important to him that your hair stays healthy in the coloring process, and I appreciated that. Erek was equally precise and asked me to stand as he cut the base of my hair - the most accurate way of ensuring my long length was symmetrical. Love. He then added some much needed layers to give my hair added texture- and it worked perfectly with the beachy, sun-kissed look I wanted. Customer service was off the charts. From the moment I walked in, I was asked multiple times if I wanted a beverage or needed anything. Other stylists checked out my hair and complimented the color and cut. They even ran out for me twice to add money to the meter so I wouldn't get a parking ticket! You can tell that everyone is happy to work there and most have been at B2V for a number of years. The salon itself was full of natural light and windows throughout the space. Chairs, tools, and spaces are clean. Street parking is available, but limited. If you're planning on being there for an extended time period, you can also valet park for $9 on Nemo Street so you don't have to refill the meter. Pricing depends on what you have done, and for my long hair, cut was $125 and color was $150. Absolutely recommend B2V!
