I was expecting a cut and added gold but they managed to stretch it and preserve the design. They also performed some outstanding repairs on long neglected jewelry. I'm beyond thrilled. I had been searching for a reputable place that could fix my wedding ring after the prongs were damaged by the jewelry repair places in the mall. George and Phu are hands down the most honest, knowledgeable and trustworthy people I've met in the jewelry business. They are both so friendly, patient and willing to work with you to make sure you are satisfied with your jewelry! They take the time to educate you and make suggestions to improve your issue. For example, my ring was set "very high" and kept getting caught on everything. This eventually caused my diamond to be frequently loose and so I've had the prongs tightened/adjusted multiple times at other places. To my horror, my diamond was off center at the last repair place and couldn't be repaired without major work. After the poor experience there, I looked elsewhere and found George & Phu. Phu recommended a lower setting and took on the challenge of replacing my white gold ring with a platinum head/prongs. I am so pleased with the results! The transition from my old ring to the new platinum setting is seamless! Phu's craftsmanship is AMAZING! We also had him resize my husband's wedding band and it came out looking great! HIGHLY RECOMMEND George & Phu! Hopefully they never leave their shop in Covina, but if they did, I would be willing to drive far to make sure they handle all of my jewelry needs! read more

My husband found Ba Lan when it was located in the Alamo Car Wash and we're happy that they upgraded their location to Old Town Covina off Citrus and Badillo. He decided to follow them because their customer services is top notch. I find them to be classy, professional, and nice. Because of their excellent customer service, my husband decided that I finally get the ring that I long deserved. Ha! So we ordered my custom-made ring, emerald cut morganite 1.0ct+ with diamond baguettes on a rose gold band. It's gorgeous! Phu helped me design it. On pick up day, I was working a 12-hour shift, so my husband picked it up, saw it, and they packaged it up nicely. I came home excited to see my ring. I removed the jewelry box from the gift bag, opened the box and ta-dah! There it was, my long-deserved ring. It was shiny, blinging, and sparkling! Upon inspection with my naked eye, I saw a gash on the lower right corner of my emerald-cut morganite stone. I was shocked, heartbroken. I was surprised that it had gone unnoticed by a professional, an expert. Was it inspected prior to packaging? Did they not expect me to see it with my naked eye? Did he look at it with his magnifier? I contacted Phu to let him know my concern. He was kind enough to remedy the situation but I couldn't help but feel like he was accusing us for the gash, in an indirect yet polite way. It took a few more days to get a new gash-less stone. I love my ring! It's gorgeous. I hope to get an upgrade, perhaps a peach sapphire? or padparadscha? What I've learned: park in the back if you don't find parking on Citrus, there's a Starbucks a few stores down if you need a drink or a bathroom to use, you can get jewelry insurance, and inspect your jewelry before taking it home, especially when your ring is two times your paycheck. read more
