I even pointed out directly that his behavior felt rude, hoping it might change the interaction, but there was no apology, no softening, and no effort to engage. I left without browsing further. There's a basic level of professionalism one expects from a jewelry store especially one dealing in higher-value items like watches where a welcoming, respectful attitude encourages customers to stay and spend. I rarely leave poor reviews (this is one of very few I've ever written), and I understand people can have off days, but this experience was so consistently off-putting that it stood out. A different approach starting with basic courtesy would make a huge difference. I understand security concerns in California, but treating potential customers with respect shouldn't be optional. Super disappointed I purchased a gold rope chain with two pendants for $2500 back in December 2023 came back in to trade in my rope chain for something with links due to the rope chain pulling out my hair. I was told that the $2200 dollar chain was now only worth $800 due to the labor and fees on the original price. I understand all businesses have to make their cut by upping the prices on gold but I trusted that they were honest, stupid me. 1400 hundred dollars in fees and labor is crazy will definitely never recommend and never return. I also over paid on my toddler sons gold ID bracelet 350 dollars, which I took into another gold jeweler to look at the quality, sure enough they sell the exact same thing for half of the price! I came here about 5 years ago to get an engagement ring on behalf of my brother and found a great ring at a great price that was gorgeous and had a vintage feel to it. Long story short, my brother didn't get engaged and I was already planning on marrying my boyfriend of 5 years so we bought the ring for me. 4 years later and we're finally starting to do the real wedding planning when I come back and happened to find a wedding band that was similar enough to make it look like it belonged to my engagement ring. While we were there finalizing my wedding band, my fiance jokingly said he wanted a Legend of Zelda wedding band and they said, "yeah we can do that," which only took off from there (he didn't have to be told twice) and they ended up making him a ring that was yellow gold on the outside, had the triforce cut out and white gold on the inside. A friend of mine recommended this family-owned business to get my engagement ring taken care of because I wanted to find a place closer to me that offered reasonable prices and good service. My husband had originally purchased my engagement ring (and our wedding rings) from the Jewelry District in Los Angeles. I called the store to get a price quote on getting my ring rhodium plated, and the cost was reasonable so I came in. While I was there, I realized that I had visited during their watch sale and walked out with my shiny ring AND a beautiful new watch. Their service is friendly and helpful, and they'll show you their jewelry without pressure, judgement, or attitude. They even let me try on pieces that they knew were out of my price range, just to indulge me for a few seconds. Many pieces are designed by them, so they are unique and breathtakingly beautiful. When I'm in their store, they make me feel like a valued customer, even though I only spend $40 - $200 when I'm there. Although, sometimes I do drop by just to say hello and look! My wife and I spent weeks searching for a new wedding ring upgrade, to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. We did the usual research, internet, stores, and made the usual trips to Costco and other well-known wholesalers. We were almost set on a rings a few times, but out of curiosity decided to try a local place that we saw had great Yelp reviews. I am VERY happy that we did! It was an easy process as soon as we came in, low pressure, and they were happy to pull all the pieces out of the case so we could truly take a closer look at them all and evaluate our options. They pulled out multiple diamonds so we could compare them to each other, and find the best one for the budget and size we had in mind. It's always hard to initially place trust in a privately owned, non-name brand establishment when you're spending thousands or even tens-of-thousands of dollars. My skepticism continued even through the buying process, because the ring finally had made for my wife just seemed to be TOO GOOD for the price we paid. The owner assured us we were welcome to have it independently checked, and that we had 3-days for a satisfaction guarantee. So, I did just that! I took the ring right away (next day) to a certified Gemologist, who specializes in diamond and jewelry appraisals. In fact, the owner used to work for GIA as a diamond grader, and is certified as a "Master" gemologist. Their appraisals are NOT the typical inflated "insurance appraisals" that you see at places like Costco. A ring or diamond is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it! Your $8000 Costco ring that says "appraises for $15,000" is worth... you guessed it, $8000. Insurance companies do not cut you a check for a lost ring, they replace it. Inflating your insurance valued numbers only hurts YOU the consumer, as you pay premiums based on that. That being said, I asked and she assured me they appraise on the ACTUAL retail replacement value... not the inflated insurance value numbers you see at most big box stores. She assured me that that is the ONLY way that they appraise them, typically coming in far below what Costco or other "appraisers" state the value at... that this is the true price you'd pay retail for a similar ring. I was pleased to learn the stone and settings ratings matched exactly what Y2K said they were, the carat weight was spot on, and the overall quality of the piece was "Excellent" with great craftsmanship. When all was said and done, we ended up paying 35% less than the TRUE market replacement value, when compared to similar sales of recent pieces. For a ring of this value, that translates to many thousands higher than we paid. When I told her what we paid, she assured us we did REALLY good, and had absolutely no reservations about the quality or value of the piece. I left the appraiser as happy as could be... my wife already knew she loved the ring and that's what matters, but I was also very happy at that point knowing that our money was well spent, and that the piece is far more valuable than the amount we paid (without the smoke and mirrors of the laughable "insurance value" numbers you're given at most chains). Highly recommended, looking forward to having Y2K as our primary jeweler and Citizen watch retailer going forward. (On a side note, while the ring was being made, the owner gave me a great deal on a Citizen watch I was eyeing, to add to my already large collection). Can't go wrong with Y2K Jewelers. read more

While Y2K was not the cheapest, they were the most friendly, knowledgeable and recommended. I went in and spoke with Elissa. She was wonderful! So friendly!. After she wrote out the ticket for the engraving, she spent time showing me the engagement rings and answering my questions. She helped me narrow down the style I like most. While looking with the boyfriend, that's been impossible! I took the ring in to be engraved on Tuesday and she said it should be ready by Friday. Can't wait to see how it turns out. The owner Johnny Tobbi and his daughter Elissa designed the most beautiful diamond cross which I wear on a daily basis.
