When I walked in, I thought this place looked familiar. It seems that I was here more than one year ago and took photos but neglected to write a review. I shall remedy that today. The salad that accompanied the meal was quite rustic - roughly cut cabbage, a few thin slices of tomato and cucumber and a big hunk of red onion. It was a perfect balance for the chicken and rice. Sublime‼ I was not expecting a half chicken - and oh what a chicken! The skin on this chicken was the crispiest I've ever had without it being fried. It was like chicken crackling! There was a white sauce - thick and yogurty in taste that also enhanced the chicken. Whatever they do to make the chicken skin as crispy as it it, changes the texture of the meat. It is soft as opposed to tender, if you can consider the distinction. It is very interesting but not in a bad way. It's as though the chicken was boiled until tender, drained and patted dry and then baked in very high heat after the skin was oiled. I don't know if that is the process but that the best way I can describe the end product. I have one very small complaint about the meal - it could have used a bit more salt all around. And yet, when I put the rice, chicken, and salad into one bite I did not miss the salt at all! I came in around 5:45 pm on a Saturday evening and left about 7:40 and no one came in to dine or pick up take out. The meal totaled $21.53. The portion was enough for three. The entree was$14.99! I hope that they are doing well but I think they could do better if they kept the prices but cut their portions. I would like to see them remain in business. The food is good and the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. There was a TV on the wall but it was not on. There was no "background" music and I found that very relaxing. I find that I am in this area quite frequently and I will remind myself to stop here more frequently. Please, do yourself a favor when in this area and stop by for lunch or dinner. You can't go wrong with the quality or quantity of this food.

We stopped by here on a Tuesday afternoon. When we walked in, the restaurant was a little stuffy (but it was a hot day in June). It was clean. There was no one else there and we were told we could sit wherever we liked. We were offered water and our order was taken. We ordered the mango/yogurt drink, which was perfect for the heat. We ordered the hummus, which tasted a little different than what I expected (something was off with the spices and the consistency). The bread was really good for dipping the hummus. They also gave us a complimentary plate of salad and two dipping sauces. We ordered the chicken kabob plate and combination kabob plate. The plates came out after about 15 minutes. The spices for the kabobs were good, but the meat was a little too dry for me, but it could be that's how it is supposed to be prepared (I am comparing to the juicier kabob I get from Persian restaurants, and this restaurant is Afghan).

Wanted to try something different and authentic Iranian / Persian cuisine is definitely something I don't see every day. I'm not sure how long they've been open, but I get the sense that they haven't been open very long. They weren't busy at all when I got there early in the evening - I was greeted politely and offered my choice of seating. My entree (Kobidah Lamb) turned out to be very familiar to me since it was similar to Greek and Mediterranean dishes I've had. The dish included a lot of rice... far more than I could possibly eat (I took some home). The lamb and rice were both very tasty... and on that note, I don't recall calling rice "tasty" in a review before, but this was some of the best rice I've ever had. Since the goal was trying something new (to me), I picked a couple appetizers that looked interesting - Sambosas and Arabic Bolani. In a way, these dishes have some similarities... Sambosas are essentially meat stuffed deep fried dumplings and I would loosely compare Arabic Bolani to a cheeseless meat filled quesadilla. Of the two, I preferred the Sambosas... the Bolani was pretty bland by itself, but served with accompaniments that optionally added some flavor. Overall, very happy with my experience - good food, service and the place was clean (including the restroom). Thumbs up.

My first time to this restaurant and it definitely won't be my last. My food was delicious. Clean restaurant and good service also. Look forward to trying other menu items.

There are several Afghan options around this area but this one is the best! I have been here at least 4 times in the last two weeks to get their Chicken Karahi. The food is not only phenomenal but reasonably priced. To top it off the owner is super kind and greets me with a smile every time. Definitely check this place out if you are in the mood for some delicious home cooked Afghan food!

Having grown up eating Afghan food, I was excited to find this restaurant and taste the cuisine. The restaurant was clean, the ambience authentic, and the service friendly. My girlfriend and I shared the Bolani, the Mantou, the Chicken, Steak, and Lamb Kobidah combo. I really enjoyed all of the dishes, each one made fresh to order (which does require more of a wait, but completely worth it), and even had some to take home for the next day. We also enjoyed complementary cups of hot Afghan tea on a cold night. I wish I lived in the area, because if I did, I would certainly return often! I hope those of you reading will make a frequent visit to this wonderful restaurant.

I've been wanting to try this place for the past weeks now and finally got around to it when I went on a late lunch break. This place is not far from work and I ordered the shawarma. On the menu, it doesn't indicate the kind of meat so I'm guessing you get to pick. I just chose the chicken and to my surprise it was very tasty. It has a curry flavor to it. For $9.99 it wasn't bad and wish it came with a side. There was no one there when I came and they made my food quickly was appreciated due to having to return to work. There was a lady there and we had a difficult time understanding ea other as I wanted to know how much more it would cost for a side of fries or salad. The option of sides are also not on the menu. So I think if they can print that on the menu or have it up somewhere that would be helpful. The place is a bit hard to find from the main road off of Manzanita as their sign is not on the brick/roof area. But if you get closer to the building you can see a sign on the glass window. They are located I think a door or 2 down from the Strings Italian restaurant. The restaurant was clean and bright, I might come back to eat in the restaurant one day and try other items.

fresh afghan food. I like the mantou and arabic bolani. the ambiance is pretty bare bones, but the food is tasty and gives a unique experience. Service is pretty good, but you'll want to expect English is a second language. what is afghan food? There's influence from Chinese, Indian, Mediterranean, and Persian. It's really it's own thing, but interesting to see the different elements come together. I took some photos of the Menu since it's hard to find elsewhere.

This is the small family owned restaurant. The owner's name is Abbas. He was very nice. I went to eat dinner there and after talking with him, and enjoying the food immensely, I decided to have a birthday party there for my cousin. They have the best bolani I've ever had in my life! It is thin and crispy. Every dish we ordered was fantastic, including the beef, chicken, rice and Vegetables. The dining room is not very big or have much ambience but the food is incredible. I would recommend them for a family dinner or catering.

Ambience was quiet as we were the only customers here for lunch at noon, they need your business! I ordered the combo kabob plate and my son the chicken curry. A Diet Coke and a water quenched or thirst. The dishes came out in about 15 minutes and the smells of the food cooking really piqued our hunger. The portions were huge and looked really tasty. They were! An excellent place to grab a bit to eat.

The food here is phenomenal. The rice was fluffy and buttery, the meat was all tender and well-seasoned, and the soup was herbaceous and piping hot. While they didn't offer a drink menu, I asked if they could make doogh, which they did with no issue. I will definitely be going back.

This place is SO GOOD!! First time here and we will be back!!! Portions are really good and the flavor is perfect!!!! Hands down 5 stars

Server did offer to let us choose 2 different meats for our two #41 Koobideh plates (2 beef skewers for $25), but I think we would have been better off just ordering one #61 All Koobideh plate (3 different meat skewers for $34). One plate has plenty of basmati rice for two people to share. She suggested the two #41 orders, instead of answering how much an extra order of rice would cost. Maybe you can't order a side of rice? Rice comes with each entree. By ordering the 2nd plate, she offered or included the $8 Bread Basket for no extra charge. It was my friend's birthday. I wanted to pay, and she wanted to order extra to go, so I wanted two separate bills, but it seemed too complicated to explain or disallowed. After the food was delivered to the table, server didn't check on us anymore. I guess the restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays. My friend thought all the koobideh tasted the same. I liked them in this order: 1) Lamb, 2) Chicken, and 3) Beef, but they're the same texture, so they aren't all that different. I should have ordered a different 2nd entree, instead of two Koobideh plates. The #18 Bademjan Borani eggplant appetizer was yummy. It did come with some bread, so you don't have to order the bread basket. The bread is served warm. The basmati rice was light and fluffy, but not flavorful or buttery. You can pay a $4 upgrade to switch the rice to salad or a fancier stir fried rice. Read the Vegetarian Dishes menu section to learn about the various fried rice or polo preparations. Our server suggested the Fava Bean Rice or Baghali Polo because it is a Persian New Year dish. Yelp reviewers recommended the Zereshk Polo, which includes barberries, a fruit similar to currants. $10 to add a skewer of veggies. $4 to add a salad is mentioned under the Vegetarian Dishes menu and Seafood & Combination Plates menu. I didn't like how the sugar cubes for the Persian Tea were served. It looked communal and exposed to the elements. You could see sugar dust on the serving bowl. Other Persian restaurants serve the sugar in a smaller covered bowl. Formal dining room. Lunch specials are Monday to Friday, 11 am to 3 pm, excluding holidays. Lunch prices range from $16-$20. 3 different $8 soup offerings: chicken barley, ashe reshteh, or green lentil.

Ordering it to go we opened up the heavy parcel and saw 2 exact containers wondering if we ordered 2 of each. But no, it's the combo of marinated chicken, beef and lamb that were separately marinated and charcoal grilled. Great clean flavors, not overly spiced nor overcooked. Beans and rice were cooked correctly but a little bland, that needed yoghurt or chili paste for moisture. Good sized portions that were actually lean in nature, the cucumbers, tomatoes and dill helped bring the moisture together. Flatbread was serviceable but no oil or seasoning.
