The visit to Sactown Kabobs was not planned. I just happened to be in the area where I knew there were a lot of Middle East restaurants. I decided to visit the restaurant based on Yelp rating. I normally don't select a restaurant because of the rating. I decide based on the menu. Their menu definitely got me interested. The food was very good. Upon recommendations from the cashier, I selected their Chicken Combo which had chicken and beef. I was happy that they offered between chicken breast and thigh meat. I also ordered à la carte of the Shish, lamb shank, chicken souvlaki, and Koobideh (ground beef). The different kabobs were seasoned well. The Shish is cubed beef kabob. They will cook it to your preference. I chose medium rare and it was cooked to my liking. The meal came with rice, pita bread (sorry if it's called something else) and hummus. I should have asked if the meats came with some type of sauce. Over, my kids and I enjoyed the flavor of the meats. The shank was very tender and fall off the bone as described by the menu. I loved that the restaurant is family owned, not something like a restaurant group. The restaurant is clean and the staffs are friendly. It is family friendly. read more

My husband took me here because he really liked this place and it did not disappoint! This place has phenomenal service and great food! The lady who was serving us (and I think the owner?) was so sweet, she helped us decide on what to order. Everything made to order and the price was really good. We got heaping portions for two people and it was less than $30 for lunch including drinks and dessert! We split the combo ($17.99) and added pita (2.99), two drinks, and a baklava. The baklava was huge, shaped like a rose and had hints of rose. The meat was so tender and juicy, the rice was aromatic. The hummus was so good and the fire roasted tomatoes. Two of us ambled in on Sa 04/04/2026 for a late lunch. There's ample parking in the strip mall lot. It's near Business Costco. You order at the counter and ask for water. Staff are very kind and welcoming. Our order: Lamb Shish. A classic kabob skewer cooked to order, served with basmati rice, hummus, grilled onion, onion, and grilled tomato. Gheymeh. A stew of split yellow peas, and small pieces of beef. Tomato based, it's also flavored with orange zest, and served in a bowl, alongside basmati rice. Zereshk Polo. Saffron rice cooked with. barberries. Served with four pieces of dark meat chicken, tzatziki and pita. As the kabobs are cooked to order, our food took about 15 minutes to come out. Fair enough! Lamb shish is ONE skewer consisting of six pcs. A bit misleading as the menu describes the dish using the plural "skewers". The lamb pieces are of a decent size, each the size of 1.5 or 2 bites. They aren't super tender, but good enough unless your dentures are loose. The rice is done well, and the char on the onions and tomato is good. The hummus is a nice touch. This dish is 3 stars (A-OK). The Gheymeh stew was the star of our meal. Perfectly seasoned and quite flavorful. The orange flavor and aroma is enticing. The bowl of stew didn't need any of the accompanying rice. We could have eaten several bowls each. NOTE: this isn't a thick or hearty stew per se. It's more of a thick soup, like a gumbo. 5 stars (as good as it gets). Our Zereshk Polo was a large serving. The chicken was an unexpected part of the dish (we missed it on the description). The rice was very good, but the stewed chicken was well overdone and had lost most of its flavor. The tzatziki and pita were nice. 2 stars (we've had better). This would have rated higher if the chicken was as good as the rice. Here, it detracted from the dish. We must have ordered this on a bad day as other Yelpers enjoyed this dish. FOOD: 3 stars. We'd return if in the area, but would skip any dishes featuring stewed chicken. A late lunch for two hungry people with a lot of leftovers; out the door, with tax, 3.8% credit card service fee, and tip: $73. read more

Whew!! What a fantastic experience!! I'd driven past this place a gaziliion times and always told myself, "One of these days..." Today! TODAY WAS THE DAY!!! I really was craving kebabs but when I went in, they had chicken soulviaki (sorry... I can never spell it or pronounce it correctly) with saffron rice, fresh warm pita and a nice fresh, crisp Greek salad with feta and olives. My Gosh! It was absolutely divine! The salad alone was epic but when I tucked into that tender, succulent flavor-rich chicken...? This was another world! And the rice was tender with just enough al dente bite so as not to be mushy. It truly was perfect. It was a bit pricey at 23.00 with a drink out the door but I am wholly satiated and absolutely will return! Excellent Iranian food that tastes better than the other choices in town in many regards. We are Iranian-American and when we moved here a few years ago we did a fun experiment where we bought ghormeh sabzi, Iran's national dish, from Sactown and several other restaurants on the same day. We ate them at home and conducted a blind taste test. Everyone chose the sactown chormeh sabzi the best. We were pleasantly surprised that we agreed on which was the best, and we were surprised that we had very clear preferences. We have not done similar simultaneous testing with other stews but we think those are excellent too. The koobideh kabab and Joojeh (chicken, we usually pick thigh meat) kabab are also delicious. The couple that owns and operates this restaurant are clearly excellent cooks. The environment is very casual and just ok. But the food is excellent! And while I do not know them personally, in my experience the family that operates it are kind and hospitable and friendly and honest people. We have catered from here for dinner guests on several occasions and have been very satisfied. Thank you sactown kabab. Our city is lucky to have you. read more

I almost always.. feel unwelcomed? If the service was better, I'd rate this place 5 stars! I used to work in the area and visit often. I think they have one of the best juiciest Koobideh around town! Fast forward 2 years, I'm back in the area and was excited to order togo over the phone. When I arrive to pay/pick up, the lady charges me for an item that was $4 more than what I'd actually ordered. It was a quick change on the screen, so had I not seen it, I probably would've just paid the high amount. But I saw the name of the item I was being charged for, so I said something to her. She scurried to correct it and said she "needed to go into the menu a different way" (on the register) aka just trying to get one over. Since that day, I have wanted to order for lunch again but can't bring myself to. That encounter just left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunate because I enjoyed the food. My son and I love Persian food, and I always get him a Persian feast for his birthday. We've tried several Persian restaurants so far, Sactown Kabob is the best hands down. Their Koobideh is delicious, their Tzatziki is flavorful, and their hummus is also. I was late picking up my order, and they waited to serve the stew up until I got there, which I appreciated. We start off with our side of hummus. Husband, myself, and two teenagers, we came hungry :) we all ordered the #2 which is joojeh (chicken breast). Within 15 mins of ordering our food, it is ready. Love watching them throw our chicken kabobs on the char broil. Chicken is always perfect, nice and juicy and flavors are perfect. Maryam is a pleasure speaking with. Always so happy! Walking in and seeing her smile makes our day. We finished our meal with the baklava bites. Yummmmmm. I have also catered from them in the past for my husband's birthday. So easy, just called in a big order ahead of time, scheduled a time and I went to pick up, perfect! Restaurant is always clean, always see them wiping things down. I would highly recommend. I love coming to this place after a nice massage and indulging in the saffron seasoned foods here. They have the best Persian food in Sacramento in my opinion and I love that I can order items al la carte since I don't always want to eat rice and bread. Found this place while my car was being serviced at a nearby auto dealership on Fulton Ave. Got there at almost 2 PM. Was the only one in the place, but despite that, waited at least five minutes at the counter to have my order taken (I just about walked out in frustration).
