The salad has this good peanut ginger sauce. I got the drunken noodles and Thai fried rice and both were amazing. They had a very Thai basil flavor, savory and spicy without being too much of anything. The mango sticky rice is also amazing. The mango was perfectly ripe despite the time of year and the rice has an almost wheat or barley flavor that I like to it. I'm so sad I didn't find this place sooner. What a great Thai restaurant! We passed this place a couple times and decided to abandon our dinner plans one day and turn in...and it was a good decision. On that occasion, we ordered Chicken Satay, Chicken Pad Kee Mao, and Chicken Pad Thai. We visited them again over the weekend and had the Moo Ping as an appetizer and we both had Chicken Pad Thai. All the food has been delicious and made to our requested spice levels. There is plenty of seating inside, but beware, parking is limited in the lot directly attached to the restaurant. There is additional parking nearby though, so don't sweat it. Our server was very attentive and pricing was fair for the portions. We both had leftovers for the next day. They also have a Bubble Tea store on the opposite side which you can order from as well. We look forward to coming back and trying more dishes! read more

This is a no frills Thai spot with great flavor, decent prices, a bubble tea menu, and an ice cream shop right down the hall. The chicken pad Thai (that we've had on two occasions so far) is authentic, and they accurately deliver whichever spice level you order. I can't stand when I ask for SPICY, but the place goes easy on me and gives me a mild or medium dish. Truly Thai doesn't do that - they actually give you the level that you order. The service is fast and the ladies are always friendly. The atmosphere is super casual (very basic decor, nothing trendy), but their high quality meals are enough to keep us coming back. read more

We stopped here for some Thai food as we were in the area and saw the 4.8 rating. While there were some high points, generally we were disappointed compared to other Thai places we have dined at. We stopped in for lunch. The small complementary salad was not worth the effort and was pretty unappealing. The spice fish cake appetizers were a bit spongy in texture but delicious in flavor with its accompanying sauce. The star was the papaya salad. Very fresh and refreshing and I would order this and the fish cakes again. The pad Thai with tofu and vegetables was a bit too sweet and came out super hot. The massaman chicken was somewhat bland. The front entrance leads you to an ice cream counter. The hall winds around back to the restaurant. Off street parking is limited to three spots in the back. Street parking is available across the street. This place is NOT handicapped accessible. There is no ramp at the front OR rear even though there would be room In front for an indoor ramp. We ordered takeout and our food got to us pretty quickly and everything was still piping hot. We got Spring Rolls, two of us had the Pad Kee Mao with Beef and one of ordered the Pad See Ew. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The Spring Rolls were crunchy and the filling was delicious. The Pad Kee Mao had the perfect amount of spice and a good proportion of beef. My wife and I ordered take-out this past Saturday evening from Truly Thai. The front of the building faces Main Street and appears under construction. The main entrance is on the side street, up a few steps and you are inside. The counter and this room is neat and clean with about a dozen tables. There was a party of six obviously enjoying their meal. The staff is friendly and courteous. They said 20 minutes to be ready and it was a little less than that. Returning home we had our appetizers, Chicken Satay and Moo Ping (pork BBQ). The peanut sauce with the Chicken Satay was fabulous while the Moo Ping had a delicious sweet and sour sauce. For our entrees, my wife had Pad Gra Tiem, her choice of protein was crispy duck and she said it was so good. The garlic sauce matched perfectly. I had Pad Gra Prow, my choice of protein was chicken. The Thai Basil sauce was fragrant and delicious. Each dish came with Jasmine rice. Sayreville and the surrounding areas have been bereft of good Thai food. Truly Thai is a breath of fresh and delicious air. We will be returning. One note, I only took photos of the appetizers. First of all, entrance for the restaurant is on the side street and not on Main. Stopped in over the weekend to dine in. They have a very small parking lot on the side street. 3 cars if you're lucky. Believe they opened less than 2 months ago. It's a pretty small dining area inside with only about 10 or 12 tables total including booths. We shared 3 apps... Spring rolls,edamame & Thai dumplings. Entrees were... Pad Thai,Pad cashew (spicy), and Thai bbq with pork. You will have leftovers on these if you're coming for dinner. Save room for dessert. We shared 3. They were, fried banana rolls with ice cream (our favorite), mango & sticky rice, and fried ice cream. Those banana rolls were served warm with vanilla ice cream. That was sinfully good and not too sweet. Just wish that there were more than 4 small ones. :) Service was excellent. We met one of the owners at the end when settling up our bill. He showed the 3 of us the front part of this property. Which is going to be serving bubble tea and ice cream in a few months. Prices are very reasonable here. As a person used to travel to Thailand for business trip every year, I don't feel Truly Thai's good quality and taste is authentic enough. This was the first time we tried this restaurant. We ordered the classic Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, and Massama curry. None of them was up to standard. Either was too sweet or spicy, not enough aroma of Thai herbs. That lost the authenticity. The dishes were not bad but mediocre. However, the portion was generous. If a restaurant cannot even make basic classic dishes, I can only give 3 stars and will not be back. read more

Truly a hidden gem! We ordered the Chicken Curry Puffs, Panang Curry, Thai Basil Chicken & Thai Iced Tea. HUGE portions! We did medium spice for the Panang Curry and Medium-Hot spice for the Thai Basil Chicken. It had a good spice level- but was not overly spicy where we could not enjoy the taste of the food. We were so hungry and forgot to take photos of the food :D The owner and staff were super accommodating and kind. When you enter, they have an entire ice cream shop and bubble tea area! The owner was kind enough to let us try some of the ice cream flavors at the end and the ice cream was creamy! They have some unique flavors, so be sure to save some room for ice cream at the end! I haven't been in this place since it was a Chinese restaurant for years. It was refreshing to walk in here and see a nice intimate restaurant. The owner was lovely and walked around frequently checking on us and the food. It felt like a very warm family restaurant. It was almost full on a Sunday early evening. Sayreville doesn't have too many good places but this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The food came in great portions and good quality. Taste wasn't 100% what I like but I'm willing to go back and try another plate. My husband got the pad Thai and he didn't like the noodles it was made with - I actually liked it better than what we get from our usual Thai place. Great new edition to the neighborhood. The service was absolutely outstanding. Now for the food we had for appetizers the Thai dumplings, the curry puff pastries and the spring rolls. Some of the best I have ever had. For the main course I had the massam curry served with a side of jasmine rice . The ambiance was warm and welcoming they really did an excellent job with the decor. Ordered for the first time last night. Got 3 dinners, chicken pad thai, shrimp pad thai and pad kee mao. Got 2 chicken pad thai's, no shrimp. Also ordered 3 appy's, the calamari was skimpy, the curry puff's were strange and bland. The pad kee mao was really good. Called the place back, they realized the mistake and we got the shrimp pad thai along with more calamari and they also gave us a dessert for the mistake. I have to say that the pad thai was dry, there was very little chicken, missing bean sprouts, peanuts, scallions and sauce. This was my first time visiting this establishment and I did take my food home but my panang curried shrimp was light on shrimp and too heavy with veg. The pineapple fried rice was without much flavor and virtually no pineapple. I'll keep looking for some decent Thai food. read more
