Used to enjoy the food at this place, but the last few times we tried it the order was wrong and after the last dinner, I got violently ill that evening. The original one near Leavenworth is much better if you can go. This one just seems overwhelmed, understaffed, and not worth the risk anymore. It's hit and miss. Do not eat here if you want good service you are only lucky if u have had good service here the food is always different the pad Thai is soggy noodles and taste like ketchup! They threw away our food after we packed it up to go we all forgot it distracted with the kids thinking each other took it! 1 minute down the street remembered and went back! They told us sorry we threw it away I said we just left and this was over 100 dollars tonight with family of six we always take home food and take to work the next day for lunch! We paid for it! The two women always there r always in a bad mood and we over looked it several times since my daughter is pregnant and craving this! They are always out of sticky rice! But tonight was most upsetting they threw away two entire entrees and several appetizer left overs and rice! Food wasn't good and the service was horrible. Ordered: pad thai - noodles too soggy; tom yum soup - not sour enough, too sweet; crispy garlic shrimp - just ok. It's the service that prompted me to give this establishment a 1 star. The waitress barely waited on us. She took our order and when the food came, she just dumped it on the table and didn't bother to ladle the soup into our bowls unlike all other Thai establishments I've been to. When we were done, we asked for boxes for the leftovers, and again, she just dumped it on the table and didn't bother to transfer the leftovers into the boxes. Then she disappeared again. When she finally showed up, we had to ask her for a bag with which to carry the leftover boxes; she didn't even think that we'd need one. The best Thai we have found in Manhattan. They offer a great variety of dishes - we love their seafood and duck options especially! We have both enjoyed our our dine in and carry out experiences. The food is really yummy, but be prepared to wait as this place is currently understaffed. I try to call 10-15 mins in advance if I'm picking up take-out. We chose to dine in today and unfortunately had to wait 10 mins to be seated. Other than the staffing issue, the food is really great. We always get Pad Thai with a medium spice. Their cook is great about adding just enough spice to make it flavorful. We also like their pot stickers. So if you're in the area and have enough time on your hands, go for it. read more

This was our second time here. Very very disappointed! Everything was served at once. Food was not hot and when we asked for it to be heated it was reluctantly taken back and then served lukewarm and rice wasn't reheated at all! Cold rice! The restaurant was chilly too. Called in for a take out order for dinner tonight. I ordered chicken fried rice with shrimp. The rice itself was average, a little dry and lacked pretty much any/all seasonings. The chicken was good, but dry and there were literally 3 pieces of average sized shrimp. The portion was average size and priced at just over $13, which is a bit high for the serving size. The place is convientiently located, plenty of parking, excellent customer service and appeared neat and clean; however, the food is what I came for and it was pretty dissapointing. read more

My girlfriend and I have passed by this place for months and only recently decided to give it a try. We were a expecting a little more from the inside of the restaurant, and it wasn't exactly what we were expecting. That being said, the dining area is still good, well-kept, clean, and not bad, just not what we had in mind from what the outside looked like. Now, the food, holy cow. I've only been brave enough to try the beef and broccoli, but , OH MAN. In a word, Yum! I've been wanting to try the duck or the drunken chicken, and I think I'nm gonna go for it next time! So I've lived in a few states (CA, WA, HI, and now KS), and I love looking for some Thai food. Living in this part of Kansas, I didn't expect anything amazing, but I didn't expect everything to taste so sweet! We ordered beef noodle soup, pineapple fried rice, soft spring rolls, khaoi soi (noodles in red curry soup), and mango sticky rice to go. Each dish tasted super sweet (including the beef soup), the spring rolls, which are usually served with peanut sauce, was served with sweet and sour sauce, so it didn't taste right. Also, we paid over $60 for this meal, when I've bought similar food in CA, WA, and HI, and in those states it was cheaper and tasted better. I did not except this, since the cost of living is at least double what it is in KS. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but I probably won't go here again. read more

BLUF: Quick and friendly service. Authentic Thai cuisine. The curry puffs are a must try. They deliver! The Fiance and I stopped in for dinner at around 6pm on a Friday. It started to get crowded around 7pm. The restaurant is much smaller than it looks from the outside. The inside looks simple and clean. No crazy decorations on the wall or statues you usually see at traditional Thai restaurants. We ordered the Pad See Ew , Pad Thai, curry puffs, and tom yum soup. We got our entrees medium spicy... and apparently they are not very consistent. The best part of the dinner were the curry puffs - great flavor and the flakiness of the shell was awesome. Brought me back to when I was a kid and my mom would make yellow curry and we would dip french baguettes in the sauce. The Tom Yum soup was also very well done - and I love that they did not cheap out on the chicken and mushrooms. At most places, you'll get alot of soup but no content - not here, there was plenty of the good stuff. My entree on the other hand did not impress me. Pad thai is the only entree I ever get at a Thai restaurant so I've tried it at several different places in my lifetime. This one was very bland and it was missing a little bit of lime. I am use to having a lime wedge on the side - here, you just get some peanuts. The portions are big which is a plus but that does not make up for the blandness of the dish. We encountered a little bit of trouble with my fiances Pad See Ew... she also got hers medium spicy but it was unbearable to eat. We told the waitress and she quickly got another one whipped up for us. The second time around the dish was fine on the spicyness level. I enjoyed her dish alot more than mine, I loved the flavors and the flat noodles they used. My fiance said it was okay and she has had better but I guess since I've never had it, I loved it. Looks like I need to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to Thai Food. Anyways, if you're looking for thai food in Manhattan, you can't go wrong here. I come here at least twice a month, usually for dinner with my husband, sometimes for lunch by myself during week. The new location is beautiful. The staff is always very friendly and prompt. The food is better than I'd hoped for when we moved out here. I miss the Thai place I always went to back home, but Baan Thai is a VERY close second. I love their massaman curry and pot stickers. Best thai food in Manhattan, KS and it's some of the best Thai I've had even compared to cities like Seattle. Spicy salads are amazing, and the curries are all very good. I usually hate crab Rangoon, but the ones here are delicate, super crispy, actually contain crab, and come with a sweet chili sauce that is much better than the radioactive-colored sweet and sour sauce found at many Chinese restaurants. Basil wings are my other favorite. Those and a bowl of soup make a nice light meal. read more

I've enjoyed Baan Thai since we first started going there years ago. Everything we've had there is good, from the soup to the entrees. The sauces that come with the appetizers are amazing, and the soups are the best in town. We usually get a bunch of appetizers, then the Tiger Cry Beef and some rice as our entrees. The Crispy Shrimp is fantastic too, and if you like spicy, there's a Black Magic entree with beef you should try at least once. Since they moved to the new location we only get carryout, because the hard wooden booths and tables are unfortunately uncomfortable. (The old location was so comfortable and nice, I miss it like crazy.) Carryout and delivery are pretty good, though, but call them for the order if you can -- their EatStreet prices aren't accurate and they will refuse to give you extras that you ordered because of that. For instance, I ordered shrimp in my soup for a $1.25 upcharge, and got a call from the restaurant saying they would not give me any shrimp because it's a $2.00 upcharge and I hadn't paid enough, and "EatStreet is too hard to get hold of." It's not such a big deal I'll deduct a star from their rating or anything, mainly because the food is so good, and most of their staff (especially those who have been there a while) are super friendly and knowledgeable. read more

This restaurant is a welcome and needed addition to Manhattan, KS. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere and location beat the other Thai restaurant in town. People have complained of small portions, but really the portions are properly sized, given the quality of the food. I neither left hungry nor overstuffed after eating one entree there. If someone is expecting a fast-food Chinese or IHOP-like quantity of food, they may be let down, but is a place that doesn't substitute quantity for quality. For me the only downside was the lack of a lower cost lunch menu. Lunch costs the same as dinner, and you can expect to pay in the ballpark of $9 to $16 pre-tax and tip for a lunch menu item. Based on my experiences at other sit-down Asian restraurants, although mostly in other towns, I was expecting to be able to get lunch for $6 to $8. Thy usually have different specials on the menu when I visit, now keep in mind that Im from Philadelphia and I take frequent trips to LA. Even though Baan Thai is a nice place, its not as delicous as the Thai in Cali or Philly! The big cities usually have better taste in the Asian Cusine. I am a big fan of red curry, so I went with the Chef Special Khao Soi. It was amazing and I highly recommend it. The portion was huge and I was unable to finish it on my own. It was not very spicy, but it was balanced and had a really good taste to it. I will definitely go back to eat this again, though I am really looking forward to giving the Roasted Duck Curry a shot. Not my favorite place. I'm probably not going to come back. Food is way too salty for my taste. The owner charge extra for everything. Bean sprouts is like 59c/lb and she wanted to charge 1$ for a handful. Pork Stir fried was way too salty and heavily seasons with soy sauce. Pork was cut too thick to absorbed any marinated so it end up really dry. Broccoli was cut too small, by the time everything else well cooked, the broccoli become soggy beyond edible. read more
