I came back this time for five days, and visited this restaurant for Korean food. The atmosphere, food, service, and price pleasantly surprised me. The food was amazingly authentic!?!! So glad there's a Korean spot in Coolidge Corner now. They have an extensive menu filled with so many different dishes. The Gan Jjajang (Black bean noodle) is delicious. Side dishes are flavorful and they don't skimp on portions. Will definitely be back here to try other things. read more

Great food! I like the ambiance - very casual and "fishy" we however did not get any free dessert at the end, but we did spot some by the host stand. The menu is extensive and most of what I tried is good. The jjajangmyun is not worth getting though. Even the gan jjajang is bland. Kimchi jigae and similar stews are sour, which I love. Not much has been Americanized (other than the spelling of the restaurant name), so it's all good homestyle cooking. You'll find items that are deeper cuts of Korean cuisine, like some of the fish dishes, so it's no wonder there are lots of Koreans who come here. But don't be intimidated, plenty of non-Koreans frequent Bab too! read more

Food and service here was excellent. Fried rice, dol sot (hot stone) bibimbap was good. Budea jigae was hearty and was perfect for a cold weather. Kids loved the soy flavored boneless chicken. I have been to BAB several times, always bringing guests from out of town. It is a hit every single time! The menu is huge yet every dish is delicious-- I tend to favor tteokbokki with most Korean meals, and BAB makes it so deliciously. I have ordered the japchae both veggie and beef, as well as the spicy chicken bibimbap (in the hot stone bowl-- sooooo yummy), bulgogi beef, various mandu, and kimchi jeon. The staff is always accommodating and kind, and I never regret coming in. To finish off, the little dessert is always a perfect end to perfect meals. Love you BAB! read more

We had their cheese tteokbboki, seafood pancake, and shrimp fried rice. The pancake was a little less crispy than what you normally get from other places but it was closer to how you typically make it at home. The fried rice was excellent! read more

Tried this place on Monday June 5 2021 for dinner around 6:00pm. We ordered the following: MAEKGOLLI, fried chicken wings for appetizer, beef soon dubu, stir fried jjampong and spicy agu (monkfish) soup. Waited for35 - 40 minutes, before they served the soon dubu, then another 10 min before serving jjampong, and another 10 min before serving the agu soup. Ironically, the appetizer, fried chicken wings, the last one, after we almost finished our entrees. Taste of the dishes was average at best, nothing exceptional. The Kim Chi ban chan was stale. The stir fried jjampong, was over-salted. Personally, I like Seoul Jang Teo's jjampong much better. Beef soon dubu was average as well, SGD soon dubu in Quincy was much better. Spicy agu fish soup was too watery and bland. Will I come back again? Highly unlikely. Bad service with average foods read more

For people who long for good "authentic" Korean food, Boston area leaves much to be desired and the addition of BAB a couple years ago was a good news. I usually go there a few times a year but unfortunately the experiences have become more negative than positive over time. For the past couple years, (a) the prices has gone up, (b) the quality of food has gone down, (c) service has worsened to the extent that it is virtually non-existent. The only element I'm willing to accept is the price increase, since prices go up for everything and it's nothing new. People dine out for good food and good experience, and they seem to no longer offer either. Sad. read more

I am giving the food a 4 but I am giving the service a 3. The food we were served was good and they even gave us a couple of items on the house so that was a plus. The server was courteous and attentive, but there was a misunderstanding which I will explain before. This is my story: Went for lunch and ordered the chicken/beef options under the bibimbap section. Even pointed to what I wanted on the menu so the server would understand exactly what we wanted. However, another dish was brought to us instead of bibimbap because the dish was named in another section of the menu. We didn't even realize the dish was another dish until we got a receipt and saw the difference in price. When we tried to point out that we ordered the bibimbap, the server pointed to a different section in the menu and said no, you ordered this instead. Im sorry, but I know what I ordered and I pointed correctly to the item on the menu I wanted. This was our first time going so I didn't even realize the chicken bulgogi and beef bulgogi were in other sections of the menu. I felt there was a complete misunderstanding, but was not offered an apology or given the bibimbap price. I was charged unfairly for a dish I did not order. I did not want to cause a scene, so here I am writing this review instead. We were a little disappointed, but we did get a good meal even if we ordered it by accident. read more

Went here for the first time for dinner the other night and left speechless! There were so many different options to choose from. Their menu has basically any Korean dish that you can name, if not more. I got the spicy chilled chewy noodles and galbi combo (I definitely overestimated how much I was able to eat). I'm not usually a fan of cold noodles since I had a bad experience somewhere else, but I definitely recommend these (and making it spicy!!~ called bibim naeng myeon). The toppings went great with the dish. My friend got the stir friend noodles with black bean paste (bokkeum jjajang) and the portion was HUGE. You definitely get your money's worth here. The service is great and she was very friendly. We got complimentary bite sized dessert too! I'm surprised it wasn't crazy packed like other Korean spots nearby like in Allston. I'll be coming back and trying the other stuff. Can't wait to tell everyone I know to come by and check this place out! read more

The biggest con in my opinion is just how big the menu is. People will undoubtedly have bad dishes because of the sheer fact of the number of items. I ordered the soondubu, and think it was much tastier than Kaju's. The ddeokbokki is a contender to BBQ chicken's (harv ave and the best ddeokbokki in boston imo) and the mandu was pretty good too, but it would be hard to mess that up. Overall, I think this place is definitely worth a shot, but I do think the mixed reviews all come from the fact that the menu is so expansive. read more

I was craving for tangsu pork and jja jang myun, and this place really hit the spot! I thought jja jang myun noodle was a bit too thick but other than that, it was good. Tangsu pork was definitely very high quality. Very crispy. Nice sauce. read more

Lovely little gem of a Korean restaurant--sorry we ignored it for a year! Saturday lunch we shared the LA Galbi short rib, very good. Even better were the outstanding kimchee scallion pancake and the wonderful spicy black bean paste noodles w veg and pork, Maeun Jjajang Noodle. Tip: they serve cool metal chopsticks, but the noodles are slippery, so bring wood chopstocks with you. The room itself is light and gracious, with apple green walls, along one of which float dozens of beautiful paper koi. Service was helpful, food tasty and generous. We're delighted to find this sweet spot one block from Coolidge Corner, especially now that a few old favorites have closed recently. Public parking lot around the corner. I was really excited about a Korean place in the neighborhood. Went in for take out today and it was such a disappointment. Before ordering, I asked how an item on the menu that did not have a description was prepared. The person said he did not know. I asked if they used a soy marinade like bulgogi/galbi or a spicy marinade. He responds, the kitchen prepares it so I can't tell you how the food will come out. What???!! I went with the galbi and noodle combo for $25 plus rice for $2 as the combo does not come with rice. Half a container of rice--I've never seen a place so stingy with rice. As for the galbi, a big piece of bone and 4 small pieces of meat. You're much better off going to Allston to any of the other Korean places for tastier food, bigger portions, better prices and knowledgeable service. read more

I'm Korean and very picky among authentic Korean food. I would say that in the years I've spent in Boston, this is the most authentic and delicious Korean restaurant I have been to. I had the hot pot with pork links which was perfect for a rainy cold night out. The interior decor is clean and refreshing and the staff are attentive and helpful. Meh. Nothing impressive or good enough that would make make go back for seconds. The staff is friendly and nice but definitely understaffed. The 2 working that night were literally running back and forth from the small dining area to the kitchen. I know because the floor shook non-stop. My seafood/tofu stew didn't even come with rice....it usually does in all the other restaurants. It wasn't special either, just the usual stock with chili, tofu and frozen seafood. read more

I really like this restaurant! Today was my first time here, but I will definitely be coming back. The service was really nice, and the food came out piping hot and really quickly. The portion sizes were plenty big enough, and the food tasted great. I had scallion pancakes, seaweed soup (sooo good), and sweet chicken. The chicken was crispy and moist with great flavor. The little free dessert at the end was delicious as well! My friend really enjoyed the kimchi and miso soup. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. This place is fantastic! It's our new favorite take-out (or outdoor dining!) place in Brookline. Portions are extremely generous and the service is friendly and attentive. The spicy black bean noodle (Maeun Jjajang) is our favorite -- the noodles are perfectly chewy and sauce is not too salty. Also recommend the Kimchi Jjigae (kimchi pork soup), and Tofu Dolsot Bibim Bab. You also get all the banchan sides (pickled veggies, kimchi, etc.). read more
