This Korean iconic establishment has been here for the longest time, but I'm finally writing about it and I'm glad I came in because I don't remember when the last time I came in. Food was so good. I ordered the Kalbi, which was tender the spicy squid, spicy rice, cakes, and the Jap Che. Everything was delicious and I really appreciate the Bon Chon. Will be here again.
Had an amazing dinner here! I was craving kbbq and came with my boyfriend. Everything was so yummy! The banchan were delicious and they refilled it consistently. My favorites were the potato salad and the bean sprouts. They also offered kimchi, green beans and fish cake. We ordered the samgyupsal and kalbi to grill on the table and both were delicious. They give you shaved green onions, lettuce to wrap in, dipping sauces and pickled radish. The service was also great. I think they would have let you grill it yourself but to be honest, I never trust myself with grilling so it was nice that they came by frequently to flip our meats and tell us when it was ready to eat. The ambiance was great with kpop playing and one tv screen showing kpop music videos. The other tv screen had football on which got my boyfriend excited. I thought it was a little pricey but fair for Korean bbq because kbbq is not cheap. However, just beware that you have to do minimum two orders of meat for table bbq so we wanted to try some of the soups but didn't get a chance to as a result.
Back in Boston for round two, and honestly, Korean Garden was at the top of my "must-visit" list. This place consistently delivers that authentic, comforting vibe that's getting harder to find. The Highlight: The Kalbi If you come here and don't order the Kalbi, you're doing it wrong. We got it prepared from the kitchen, and it was hands-down the best we've had in the city. * The Texture: Incredibly tender. * The Cook: Perfectly charred with that signature smoky sweetness. * The Verdict: We literally had to order a second round because one plate wasn't enough. It's that good. The Supporting Cast * Seafood Pancake: Light, airy, and actually crispy (no soggy centers here!). * Spicy Cold Noodle: The texture was spot on. Often these get overcooked and turn into a sticky mess, but these were perfectly chewy and separated easily. * Seafood Soondobu: Hot, comforting, and packed with flavor. A solid 10/10 for a chilly Boston day. The Banchan & Service The banchan (side dishes) were fresh and flavorful. The bean sprouts and kimchi were the standouts for me, though I was a little bummed they didn't have the spicy cucumbers . Service was fantastic--super friendly and very attentive without being overbearing. They kept the water filled and the vibes high. If you're looking for that perfect char without the DIY smoke on your clothes, let the kitchen grill the Galbi for you. They have it down to a science.
A little expensive, but the quality and quantity are worth it! This restaurant is between Cafe Weekend and Mr. Music. This is on Harvard Ave, so you don't need me to tell you that parking can be very difficult with the busy roads and high foot traffic. It is best for you to try your luck on Commonwealth Ave. Inside is very spacious. Lots of tables, and you're not sitting super close with tables around you. Interestingly it seems the restaurant is split between Korean BBQ and non BBQ. This was perfect for my wife and I because we wanted non-BBQ. I don't think there was any outstanding decorations, but it's also not something I care about when I just want a nice, filling meal. Our server was very polite and accommodating. She checked up on us regularly and we were never left waiting for attention. Bulgogi Tukbokki - very good! the rice cakes were cooked perfectly, the marinated rib-eye were good, and the sauce was great. I think the heat was perfect for people like my wife and I who can only handle just a little bit of heat with our food. Kimchi Jae Yook Tofu - I'm actually not a big fan of Kimchi, so I was going out of my comfort zone to order this. I'm really glad I did, because this dish was awesome. Big, hot clay dish with a small mountain of kimchi, DELICIOUS pork loins, and 4 impressively large pieces of tofu blocking each corner creating a wonderful, almost threatening dish. Tang Soo Yook (pork) - I'm not totally sure how to feel about this one. On one hand, the portion size is enormous. I think 2 starving people would be happy eating this with no other food. The pork was perfectly cooked - light, airy crispy like you would expect from Korean Fried Chicken. The sweet and sour sauce was a little too strong for my palate, especially as we were becoming too full. Additionally, the sauce had a really bizarre texture - it was borderline gelatinous - similar to those rubber sticky hands that you would get from an old 25 cents toy dispenser. As you pulled up a piece of meat, the sauce would come with it instead of dripping. Overall impressions? I spent a lot of money here, but I am totally satisfied by what I got. Generous portions, and delicious food. This place is the complete opposite of our awful experience with Somaek a few nights ago in Boston Commons.
Taste very authentic but does feel like its more commercial tasting instead of the typical mom and pop korean places. Banchan was great though and scallionpancakes, good for group settings but I prefer the smaller korean spots.
Not sure why the reviews aren't particularly good. This place has an insane lunch special! I ordered the Yookgaejang, which was a spicy beef soup dish, for just $12. It was a pretty big portion, so I had leftovers. Not to mention, it came with a bunch of banchan. I wouldn't say this was the best Korean I've had, but it certainly did the trick, especially at that pricepoint. This isn't an especially upscale place, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for date night or anything, but it's perfect for a casual meal with friends or even a quick solo lunch. The service was solid, no complaints from me! I would happily return.
This is my absolute favorite place to go with family on a Saturday morning. My go to is the Kalbi gui cooked in the kitchen, always seared to perfection and the sweetness of the sauce is always a hit. I also get the dolsot bimbim bap with beef, filling delicious simple. The staff is also always kind and attentive.

For an early weekend dinmer I decided to get Korean food. On Saturday at 4pm, the restaurant was predictably empty, with only 2 other tables occupied. I placed my order, the Gopchang Jigae ($17.99), a spicy tripe and intestines stew. The banchan arrived a few minutes after I placed my order. It consisted of 5 items: a light savory jelly, cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, green beans, and mushrooms. The jelly and green beans acted essentially as carriers for sesame oil and salt. Notably, none of the banchan were fridge cold. The green beans possessed decent snap The Gopchang Jigae arrived a few minutes after the banchan. It has an extremely flavorful soup, making soondubu seem light in comparison. It practically required pairing with rice. Otherwise, the portion size seemed reasonable

The side dishes were typical, and they did bring out 1 miso soup with the side dishes....so I guess they expect you to share the one tiny bowl of soup? We ordered the shumai, which were very small and I thought they were just okay, however my friend did not like them. Next up we have the bibimbap with chicken, where my friend also did not like and couldn't finish it. I ordered the kimchi jigae, which comes with rice and I thought it was really good and a perfect size portion. Overall it was just an okay experience.
Ordered the kimchi jiggae lunch special and it was amazing. Really tasty, hearty jiggae soup with tender pork and tofu, and some sliced rice cakes as well. They included 6 little mini banchans (sides) in the takeout bag! I haven't had a Korean takeout place provide that many banchans before, and they were delicious. I will be back!
I would say there are better places to get Korean food but Korean garden is a decent spot if you are around the area. The service was friendly and food came out timely. I love the small side dishes and the flavor was pretty good nothing special. The restaurant wasn't busy at lunch time and was nice.
I've never once been disappointed with Korean food before coming here. Food was just plain bad. There was eggshell in my japchae, tofu soup was the color of flaming hot Cheetos but without flavor, and to top it off the octopus teobokki was like biting into rubber. I was so upset that I asked them to try the food the made and even they agreed it was a lil tough. A little tough my butt! Never coming back. Think I'm just a complainer? I've inserted a picture of the tofu soup so you can judge for yourself.

3 stars seem harsh because the service was honestly great, server and owner/manager were really nice :( We had Bibimbap and Bibim Naengmyeon. Bibimbap was alright but Bibim Naengmyeon was not good, it has wayy too much sauce (it was mainly just tangy from too much rice vinegar) and no egg. I think the restaurant has potential and definitely deserves another chance. Perhaps I will try something different when I go back. read more
My family of 4 decided to go here instead of the new Novo food hall for dinner one night. There was 1 other family ahead of us when we arrived, and several more familys/groups came after us and some decided not to wait. This place is pretty sizeable inside. We waited 30-45 minutes for a table but while waiting, you can clearly see multiple tables were empty. The issue was the staff was not able to keep up! They work inefficiently with lackadasical coordination and are unable to adjust to demand. As such, a bunch of us waited for a while, as we were able to see we should get a table..."soon". Some others left cause it was getting rediculous. We eventually sat down. It was comfortable and roomy. The server was apologetic and very friendly. 3 of the 4 of us got our food in a somewhat timely manner but my youngest ordered the pork katsu and they seemingly forgot about it. We asked about it and they were confused but eventually owned up to it. They were again apologetic but it added to a chaotic and poor experience...one that leaves us not wanting to return. The food quality did not overcome our poor experience. It was decent. Food court quality maybe. Nice people, good looking restaurant, great location...but we won't be back. read more

korean garden is amazing! i love the small free side dishes, which are unlimited and sooo tasty. my friend and i ordered teoboki, beef bulgogi, and seafood ramen. all the dishes were delicious and about $20 or less. food is always served quickly and the servers are very nice. there's a good amount of seating - although during weekends it can get quite busy. korean garden is a must-try in allston! overall rating: 10/10 read more

Party of 7 on a Saturday night! Our lovely waiter recommended that our group get the Combo A - which included 2 kalbi, 2 pork belly, samgaetang, soondubu, bibimbap and japchae. We also ordered a cheese ddukbokki for the table. The food was overall.. good. Some items weren't quite.. traditional in flavor, though. The japchae was a little mushy, the soondubu tasted too herbal (like a green tea base?), the galbi was a little too sweet and the cheese ddukbokki had cheddar cheese (?). The redeeming factor is that the staff is wonderful. Pork belly was great, samgaetang surprisingly one of my favs. Would go again, but maybe not order the combo A. 18% gratuity included on the receipt. read more
I was visiting some friends in the Boston area and they decided to go here for dinner. It was pretty busy on a Saturday night and we had to wait a couple of minutes. We ordered a variety of things to share including the seafood pancake, mandu soup, and a few meats. It was pretty good! I found that the portions were rather small but overall, I had a good time. My friend also ordered a raspberry wine that we all shared that was delicious. read more
Sort of accidentally stumbled upon this place when visiting a friend in Boston and it was incredible! While a little expensive up front, you get sooo much food! I had never had Korean BBQ and felt a little intimidated and didn't know how to order. The staff moved fast so my friend and I felt a little rushed but overall the food was fantastic with a lot of flavor! read more

This is the first Korean restaurant that I have been to where they do not serve an egg along with a soondoobu, a decision that goes against Korean tradition. Also had to ask for scissors for the nangmyeon. This is a disgrace towards Korean culture. read more

Came here on a Sunday night at 7:30pm and the place was packed. I used a Yelper's recommendation to reserve a table ahead of time and that had to have been the best advice because we were seated immediately when we arrived around 7:15pm ahead of a group who had been there sitting and waiting. We were also very fortunate to find parking as soon as we arrived, this was a rarity for the busy street. I recommend for BBQ, ordering the Korean Garden Special Kalbi which is tender chunks of Kalbi. We also ordered and enjoyed the thick cut of pork belly (Saeng samgyupsal). The thinly sliced beef tongue is not for everyone but this was another BBQ item that we ordered. Another dish that we ordered and would recommend is the Sam Gyup Gool Bo Sam, which is pork belly served with a spicy sauce, raw oysters, and lightly salted white Napa cabbage. You wrap in the white nappa cabbage a piece of the pork belly, an oyster, and some spicy pickled radish and then dip it in the spicy sauce. This is the only Korean restaurant in Boston that I have tried that I know that serve this dish. Everyone in our party enjoyed it. We also ordered the gamjatang, which is the beef bone stew with potatoes. Korean Garden Restaurant version is good but I like Hanmaru's version better (just down the street). It was not spicy enough in my opinion and a bit grittty. For drinks, I recommend ordering soju or mulkuri. On the drinks menu, the top three drinks are sojus while the fourth, mulkuri, is a sweet milky rice wine. The restaurant was busy the entire night. It takes a while to flag a waiter so I would advise order up everything you want early, food and drinks. Order extra water, tea, alcohol beverages etc. See my pictures. read more

Part of 4, we loved it! Korean garden is one of our all time favorites in Boston. We ordered three plates of meat in total (1 kalbi, 2 thinly sliced beef), 1 cheese tteokbokki, and 1 shumai. Their side dishes are free and delicious. Service was great, the vibes are always good. read more

Went here for Korean BBQ and I was a bit disappointed. There were barely any side dishes and they did not give us steamed egg ._. The portion sizes for the meat were so small and not worth the price. The soondubu also tasted a bit off. On the up side, the meat was yummy. read more
We made a quick stop in Boston Ktown to grab some food. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and the place was empty which was amazing. No wait plus good food is beyond a dream come true. The food portion and variety was great. Definitely should stop by if you're around the area. 9/10 read more
