I haven't had any sushi or any Japanese food in MA, but compare to CA, the pricing for their sushi is way over priced. The sushi itself is average. Not bad, not great. Definitely had better. I ordered unagi nigiri (2 piece unagi sushi) for $5.75!!! and angel maki for $14. There's not much to say regarding unagi, but for the angel maki....for the price of it, I was expecting more. The size of each piece is around the size of a quarter..... My friends also ordered the edamame and seaweed salad. Both looked good I would not get it for $6. Other rolls ordered were shrimp tempura, godzilla roll, spicy tuna etc. Inside the restaurant is very small, intimate and nicely decorated. I went with a party of 8 and that seemed to be the largest party they can held with everyone sitting together. There is also a sushi bar and a bar. The service was ok. I'm not too sure what other places taste like in Worcester or MA, but for the price of this place, I would not go back. read more

Baba is amazing, one of the best sushi places around. Their chicken is good too though :) I've been there several times and have only have one experience that wasn't so great. As someone below stated, they have a fly/knat problem in the summer--even if you're sitting inside. When I went this past summer, it was extremely humid in there and we were swatting away little knats every thirty seconds or so. Literally. I don't know his name but the guy that bartends here is a sweetheart! I love the Ocean's Heart maki roll! It's kind of steep in price but worth it. Love the gyoza because its always crunchy and they have the ginger sauce that I like. Drinks are fun and really good. Godzilla Roll is heavenly. All their maki rolls are great. Best sushi far and wide. Seaweed salad is good, shumai is great, but I always burn my mouth on it in excitement. I usually go here with my mom so I don't pay too much attention to prices (spoiled, I know) but it seems reasonable for the quality of food and the service. We usually have this cool girl with brown curly hair as our waitress and she is awesome. The patio/outdoor(but actually enclosed) area is great, I see a lot of couples come here on dates. I normally love Baba and the sushi however yesterday I went for my birthday and ordered the sushi rolls I usually get(tiger maki, rock and roll maki, and spicy tuna maki) not more than 20 minutes later my stomach felt like it was in knots and i was stuck in the bathroom for hours. I'm thinking the raw fish maybe was bad or some other type of food poisoning occurred because this is not the first time ive eaten raw fish but it is the first time ive ever felt so sick. When this place is on it's easily the best sushi in Worcester, especially since it seems Haiku is closed now. I've been a couple times (weekdays) when it's just 'good' and it's a little expensive for that (that's why only 4 stars) but if you go on a Friday expect a Grade-A meal. I like the toro toro rolls, the dragon's breath, but they're all pretty good, it just depends on your taste preferences. Also, probably the best oysters in Worcester. You get a good deal on a dozen and they have their own special spicy vinaigrette they put on them instead of the standard cocktail sauce and/or horseradish. read more

I had a teki and a idaho roll, both very good and I suppose filling enough where you didnt have to go overboard in order to fill up. This is the only Sushi joint we have been to in Worcester, but it did not disappoint! It seats quite a small number of people (I would estimate under 40?) and was quite packed, but it ended up being worth the wait. Sushi was fresh, and once we were seated, it was served quite fast. I think getting a table (maybe 30 minute wait) took longer than the entire ordering and eating process. My wife really enjoyed the LED light decorations they put on some of the plates. We actually asked which plates come with those so we could get one at our table. Try the marinaded jellyfish! Great place to go with friends, on a date, etc. Parking in the back lot is best. Bar is small if I'm grasping for a negative. Small and intimate - BaBa was recommended by a friend when I was in the Worcester area. It didn't disappoint. The sushi chefs were a delight to watch as they made our food @ the sushi bar. I've never seen 20+ cucumbers "skinned" before and I'd never want to do it myself. It looked like meticulously boring work! I got the spicy salmon and crunch maki rolls as well as an udon vegetable plate. For dessert my girlfriend had the green tea ice cream. I HIGHLY recommend it. The ice cream was fried and I think they sprinkle it with "awesomeness" - it was that good. The food had excellent presentation and tasted even better. Our waiter at lunch was hilarious - often referring to us as "friends" and even called my girlfriend "darling" and "beauty" numerous times. Upon leaving, I went up to the bar to give him the bill and he insisted on a knuckle bump. As we left he said he looked forward to seeing us again. Wow, I cannot believe I wrote such a short review last time! Baba is one of the best places in Worcester. Located improbably on a nondescript block on Park Avenue in downtown Worcester, it is astonishingly glamorous and sophisticated on the inside. As soon as you walk in, you are transported into a quiet, calm, urbane existence. The lighting is of course key--exactly what I like: not too bright overall, but with concentrated spotlights especially at the bar, so you can read. As I indicated in my first review, it's a great place to go to read while you enjoy a martini and a couple of sushis. It is also, however, a fantastic date place. Very romantic. Wilson,the owner, is charismatic and gregarious. He's always got something friendly to say. His wife is charming and elegant. Totally amazing. I have been to many different sushi restaurants. Baba Sushi is exceptional. I brought my wife here for a romantic night dinner out. We ordered the godzilla (to die for), the dragonfly roll (deliscious) and 4 pieces of unagi (the best I have ever tasted.) We were considering more sushi, but decided to split an entree to see if Baba was equally good with entrees. Thee salmon with asparagus was prepared just perfectly. The salmon was cooked perfectly with a very nice marinade. The asparagus were large fresh pieces, not overcooked (with a little crung, the way they should be.) And the rice was moist and hot with ground peanuts on top. Very, very good. I had read the people that commented on the banana flambe. It was just unbelievable. Soooo goood! Best sushi in Massachusetts period. Lived in Boston for three years, this place is second to none. I have eaten here twice now and each time have eaten rolls to my hearts content. The service is great. The only minor complaint I have is, I made a reservation, and when i showed up, on time I was told it would be a short wait. Which by definition defeats the point of a reservation. I waited about 5-10 minutes to be seated for a reservation. Nonetheless I overcame my initial crankiness when the waves of well appointed rolls came my way, I forgot about the reservation oversight. Just don't make me wait next time Baba! read more

Went here on my way home after seeing so many positive reviews on Yelp. Baba has great service. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. My friend really likes udon soup, and while it wasn't on the menu - when asked, they made a udon-esque soup for him (which he appeared to enjoy). The sushi was fresh and the avocado crab salad I had was delicious. The rolls tasted good, but we tried three different ones and they all seemed to taste very similar - there were no "blow my mind" experiences with the food here, but it was definitely quality. If I'm ever going through Worcester again, I'll definitely go back. Word to the wise - the place is small and if you get a few people in at the bar area, it can get quite noisy. read more

My boyfriend and I arrived around 8 on a Friday night. Could tell it was kinda busy. We had to wait 15 minutes for a table because we didn't realize you could make reservations. It was worth it cause we got the best seat in the house. It was a table in a quieter spot just outside the bar area. It was perfectly intimate and we could even hear the water fountain babbling. Our waiter, Brad, was awesome. He was attentive and genuinely cared about the service he provided. He told us next time we make a reservation to ask for him and he would definitely take care of us. We each got a drink (which were also awesome) and then ordered our food. Everything looked really good so we started out with the sushi spring rolls and the gyoza (pork dumplings). Both were excellent. We dined on beautiful sushi and maki rolls and ended out night with the banana flambé. The food here was excellent and we couldn't have asked for better service. Absolutely incredible. Everything from the ambiance to the staff to the food contributed to a fantastic experience. Had the trio sampler as an appetizer, and then 3 rolls (one of which was not off the menu, but rather a specialty from the kitchen) for dinner. Each had its own unique flavor and provided different sensations in my mouth. The rolls were consistent in size and texture and was the best sushi I have had in the country, including the Hawaiian islands. We were to be seated at 2 top in high traffic area... Middle of nowhere. I asked for a table in the corner, out of the way.. It was a 4 top... Told we couldn't sit there in case a large party came in... This is the second time this very rude hostess has declined to seat us where we wanted... So I was fed up with the treatment and left. They went up and beyond giving us complimentary sake and as soon as we sat down brought two gyozas on the house for making us wait. Arguably the best Sushi spot in Worcester, Baba has great cocktails and even better food. It can be expensive but the quality is outstanding. About a week ago my friend and I went and got cocktails and some sushi, the service was excellent and fast. I love watching them prepare sushi at the raw bar.
