Got fried chicken and hotdogs the Chicken was fresh I loved that because that is rare in a fried chicken spot. The lemonade was soooo good.

The fresh-cut fries were a standout too... crispy, hot, and exactly how fries should be. We also tried the stuffed artichoke and that was next level. Packed with flavor and cooked just right -- easily one of the best I've had. If you're looking for great food that's done right, Schwings is definitely worth checking out. I'll be back for sure.

Upon entering, the place was dead with only one customer eating. Marcy took our order and she was not the kindest person. The food came out fresh after we waited for over 15 minutes, but was nothing special. Very greasy and lacked flavor. She was unprofessional on the phone talking to Uber Eats and it made the meal uncomfortable on top of the tacky and random marine animal decor and poor choice of music playing in the TV. Their restaurant is lacking severely in taste and hospitality. I patiently waited to request for sauces that she forgot to give and she made it seem like I was intruding and interrupting her. She looked over at our table with a rude look and was displeased to give us the ranch that is included in the combo meal. The cole slaw is shredded to pieces and has no bite, the catfish was undercooked and too soft, the shrimps still had shells under the batter, and the chicken wings were small. Everything was extremely oily. They are charging extra for hot sauce, but it literally is just Louisiana hot sauce in a tiny dipping cup. Our total for two meals was $33. You're better off going to another chicken and seafood restaurant for a better deal and price. I was going to do a food vlog at this place, but they are not worth the time wasted to edit and spotlight.

But I had to see what the hype around Gene & Jude's was all about. I caught them at a great time with a short line. Their menu is delightfully simple and typical classic Chicago style with minimalist topping choices (mustard, relish, onion, sport peppers) so ordering was a breeze. A single dog with fries and a medium drink came out to about $9. While waiting, I loved watching their team work like a well-oiled machine behind the counter. Fresh hand-cut potatoes were dropping into the fryer, and the assembly crew was constantly building dogs and piling massive heaps of steaming fries on top. High output, fantastic energy! I even asked one of the prep guys if I could snap a picture, and he was super cool about it. The meal itself was awesome. The fries were piping hot, perfectly salted, and very generous in portion. Once I dug down to the dog, that first bite took me by complete surprise, the snap of the natural casing and the flavor were incredible. Before I knew it, I was clearing the paper wrapper and completely understanding why people order double dogs or multiple single dogs. Be warned it will have your back talking to you too. Lol! Highly recommended legend!

We were already in the area to check out Frank Lloyd Wright's studio and then came here for lunch afterwards. We were lucky that it was a Monday at lunch time and not a more traditional peak time to be there because we got a parking space fairly quickly and even though we saw the line out the door, it moved very fast. It's very much a cash-only and no-frills type of place. Don't come here expecting them to be super friendly to you. You go up there knowing what you want to order and they are quick and on it. When you're paying, they're already getting the other customer's (behind you) order. We went for an Italian beef sandwich to split as well as a side of fries and an Italian ice. Everything was excellent. Definitely the best Italian beef I've ever had and one of my friends said it was one of the best foods he had on his week trip here. Will definitely need to return!

The RC cola sign immediately took me back to my childhood and made me smile. We were greeted really warmly and had our questions answered about the menu. And when I tell you that jumbo polish sausage was worth every single calorie, I mean it. I had mine with everything except onions and relish. The hot peppers are spicy! In a great way! The sausage had a great snap when I bit into it and the classic polish sausage flavor was so good and perfectly spiced/seasoned. The bun was soft but didn't fall apart when I ate. The man who took our order was extremely nice and gave me a sample of the sloppy Joe to try as well. I felt like I was part of the neighborhood. The basket of fries was enormous and they were hot and fresh. RC tastes exactly like it did when I was a kid in Buffalo. We've been to various locations but this location is on the way back home so we've been here a couple of times. The burgers are chargrilled, juicy and fresh. I got a double cheeseburger with everything on it with fries and everything was hot and fresh. That burger was huge. I recommend getting a side of hot peppers and adding some to your burger. It just kicks the flavor up a notch. Oh we also got an order of onion rings and those were good too. We didn't get dessert time, but trust me, the milkshakes, cake shakes and cakes are delicious....a sure fire way to big your back, lol. We dined in and our order was ready in about 5-minutes. Portillo's started as a hotdog joint and they still are, but for me, it's all about the burgers.

I ordered 3 jumbo dogs with verying condiments. A wet itallion beef, a salad. And a large French fry Over $40.00 Everyone are and was satisfied. However I had to wait over 25 minutes because they had no more jumbo dogs. The fries were missing but they did throw in there local famous chocolate for the wait and finally the fries camem The jumbo dogs were for others, mo complaint. The fries were very good, fresh and large. However the standard order in Chicago of Italian beef were with peppers was a complete disappointment. For over $40 dollars the beef was not wet and there was less beef in it than a hotdog. Yes beef is more expensive but give me the option to pay for for a classic Italian Beef that was their original trademark. The drive through line had one worker who was less ingaging with elements of an Indian help desk with a bad connection. The others in the group voted for portillos based on the original experience of years ago I also had a chopped salad. My last order in Downers Grove was not edible. I wanted a polish I'm French bread. It came in a mushy hotdog bun and burt black polish on all sides it was too charred to eat with no cooked onions. They tried to make amends but it was ordered and delivered to the Downers Store and I wasn't going to go back and pick up the correct order because I was baby sitting. I think Portillos' lost their soul to stoic corporation cold, hard corporate with no feel for there customers. If it wasn't for company I would not have spent over an hour in the order lane. And the person taking orders was very offended that when I handed her the credit card she said no and I was expected to know how her little gadgete worked. It was a new card with a chip. She shoved it in my face and finally she said to put it under the order machine to pay. AI would have been better to communicate and it would have been a better experience That location parking and drive through took 30 min to place an order and over 26 minutes to have them bring my food out and then waited for the.kidfing fries. The food is good but is it worth it.

So I had to find a new Italian deli in the area and this place had an authentic Italian sub on the menu with prosciutto, Genoa salami, capicola, provolone cheese, Italian dressing, lettuce and tomato that I added raw onions, hot giardiniera and mayo. It's a deli/mini mart/gambling machine/cafe with friendly service. The meats were skimpy was my first thought, see my pictures. My first thought after taking the first bite was WOW this Italian hoagie bread was perfect/fresh with that great chew/pull. Even with the skimpy meat the whole combination with me tweaking the sandwich was so fu#king delicious I got a second one to take back to WI for dinner. The area probably has a better Italian deli the residents will tell you but I'm in town once a year so next year I will try another Italian deli until I find one to start a new tradition like my old friend for many years that is no more. My final thought is that the price point is similar to the chain sub restaurants with a high quality sub sandwich and why anyone in the area that goes to a chain with this gem is beyond me because they do an authentic Italian sub very well.
