I don't usually submit reviews but the Food was off today. I ordered 2pc fish and 5 shrimp with fries and cole slaw. The breading was falling off the shrimps and was greasy. The catfish fillets were thin with little meat inside making the skin tough. The fries seemed to have been sitting awhile. Really disappointed read more

5th new spot new this year! Walk in & it reminds you of a Sharks/JJ Fish type of place. Wings, fish, chicken, & shrimp. So I wasn't expecting more than I expect from them! We ordered a 10pc whole wings w/lemon pepper. It took about 10mins, and our order was ready. Got home and the wings were fresh and hot out of the grease!!!! Lemon pepper was evenly spread in the batter unlike the aforementioned chicken spots who dump lemon pepper on the wings at the end. Wings weren't fried hard or under fried, but fried to perfection!!!! I'm definitely a happy camper w/this place. They lost a star because the wings don't come with bread or fries like other places, and the wings are the small wings too. Another thing, it smelled like someone was smoking cigarettes in there. The quality of this food has went down over the years . I will assume this is not the original business owner. The fish was cut so thin . It was more breading then fish and the wings were so small and all the prices of course went up. read more

This place has yet to disappoint me. I usually stick with the wings and shrimp combo for around $11. The wings are always big. And meaty. And fresh. They fall off the bone. I usually get the lemon pepper and garlic mixed together for the wings and Cajun for the shrimp. Just enough heat. Not too much. The only complaints I would have is not an updated website. With the plethora of flavors meal combos, it would be great to see it online. I highly recommend ordering ahead as the food takes 15-20 minutes to make. Cooked fresh n spiced to order! The seasoning is good and you get your food hot!!! (I've gotten home several times only to eat 10 min later and steam still coming off food). Wings, TilapiaI are the two things I get the 80% oft the time, but will grab shrimp ever blue moon. Love the wedges. At one time they removed the wedges but have brought them back. (And now they removed it again!) I normally don't like winglets joints in general. I want the whole wing. Twice I've come here and they only had winglets and not whole wings which has made me skip them a few times as I didn't want to waste time finding out if they had them or not) Usually will get the Cajun Spice over the lemon pepper as it has a nice little kick to it. Make sure to check if they have the game day special (bulls/blackhawks etc) that day as it's usually the better buy. (20 wingettes with fries for $11) $2 Pizza Puff's! (everyone else seems to charge $3 in the area).... Haven't tried the corn nuggets or zucchini sticks but they are next on my list. read more

4 stars. The whole chicken wings with Lemon Pepper are the bomb. My bro-in-law requests them everytime they come up for a visit. I wish they had real fries, though. I'm not a fan of potato wedges. Food is always hot and delicious. Never a complaint from me! read more

Yes. I usually get the fried shrimp with Cajun seasoning. Just ask for heavy seasoning to make ensure it's on all the pieces.

I ordered a large Catfish fillet with garlic seasoning and lemon pepper on the fries an it was horrible. The fish was cooked extremely too hard which made it difficult to eat and the fries were awfully salty. This was my first time and last time ordering from this place. Also the customer was not friendly at all, I would and am not recommending this restaurant to my family friends or colleagues. read more

Small place with only two tables for sit down meal, but the food is to die for, along with the prices and customer service! One way to explain this place is Diamond In the Rough..... The wings are fried perfect. No need to order extra well or hard. They are perfect. I suggest the lemon pepper, hot, and mild. Heck just try them all! Whole wings are the best value. Delicious, and great for parties. Not too excited about the sides..Call ahead because there is always a "well worth it wait". Good stuff here. The owner and staff always friendly and greet you like a long lost friend. The remembers your and always makes you feel special. I'd say the wings are their specialty and they are delicious of the 9 floors the Cajun spicy is awesome, just the right enough of burn. They make the wings or wingettes here fresh to order. Best to takeout and order before. A lot of good deals and specials. You can mix the spices up here.. Mix the rubs..Hence the name.. Ahhh.. Was very worried at first because when I called to see what time they close the person on the phone did not sound friendly. The food was delightfully delicious. Fried chicken, catfish and jalapeño poppers were all slammin' with the chicken leading the pack with 4.5 stars. First time ever in my life that I've eaten those three items without any condiments at all and they easily complimented each other with every bite. Since I was visiting from Las Vegas I thought I would need to stay on the South Side of Chicago for that kind of taste, but I was wrong. Very good! We had the wingettes which sounded small but they are standard wings. We got the BBQ (not spicy), hot, chipotle dry rub, and Cajun dry rub and fries. The fries where fresh potato wedges. Food was all very fresh and hot. The way the wings were cooked made be want to try the fish! So crispy but not dry at all. Services was below average however the guy working was pretty friendly. I am a big fan of Spice N Eat and I live in the area so I frequent them quite a bit. I like having the option of choosing different flavors on my shrinp, chicken, or fish as opposed to having everything taste the same. Seafood is expensive and I found the prices to be very reasonable for the value. They also offer daily specials. I usually get the catfish and they give you 3 large filets compared to the chain establishments that give you one or two wafter thin filets, 4 or five fries and an ounce of tasteless, unpalatable cold slaw. If you don't order the daily special, you can add fries and pop to an order for an additional amount less than 2 bucks. Note: The meat usually stays crispy in the styrofoam container, however if you keep anything hot covered long enough there is bound to be some amount of condensation eventually, which would make the coating a little bit soft. The staff is friendly and courteous. I definitely recommend them. read more

The quality and the taste of this food is amazing! We got the seafood platter with a new addition to the menu: oysters! Was a bit tentative, but After I told my 12 year old son that he was actually eating oysters, and he was like "WHAT??? Those were amazing!!!" Was hilarious! He said it's his favorite seafood place that he has ever been to. I personally enjoyed the seasoning, the attention to detail in the quality of foods, and the wonderful owner, Nasser. What a passionate owner. He truly takes his time and effort into every meal that he serves. Even showed my son and I how a restaurant works. A meal and a lesson! Spice N Eat is okay -- far from bad, but overall not great either. I was expecting exotic secret sauces to flavor the wings, but instead I got standard issue buffalo sauce and lemon pepper spices (not a sauce) on breaded wings. I prefer my wings without breading (or "naked"), and felt that with the breading they absorbed too much of the grease. I couldn't help but feel somewhat let down by my dining experience from here as I had high hopes after reading the other reviews. That said, the seafood might be better with their breading/spicing cooking methods, and who knows, I might go back and order my wings without breading next time. read more

The food has always been good. However, the one thing I really wish they would do is get a better online presence such as an up to date menu and special offers. The owner is a nice guy and I love the wings. Someone recommended the Cajun shrimp as a combo meal with wings and I second that recommendation, just spicy enough for those who can't take much heat but not too much where it over powers the taste of the shrimp. read more
