We went here as we are new to the Burleson area and are looking for great local restaurants and heard nothing but good things. As you walk inside you can tell someone has been to Disney as the restaurant feels like the one the Country Bears has always deserved. It is amazingly themed and an experience in and of itself. Once seated we were greeted by a friendly wait staff who informed us that the sodas offered in house were all craft and local, which of course we had to try. They were pretty good. We were then offered a verbal menu, which I was slightly saddened to discover was only family style and fairly small. My girlfriend got the catfish and I got the tenders, which unfortunately were offered only with a side of bbq or ranch, no buffalo or spicy tenders. Once we started receiving our food, we received the vegetables and salad. The salad had an odd sweet flavor, which I personally wasn't a fan of. In addition the vegetables were a little soggy. We then received our entrees which was a tad annoying as we were on a double date with our friends (who ordered the same as my gf and I) the entrees came out on shared plates. So we then had to proceed to divide the chicken and catfish among the two parties. My gf loved the catfish, and while the chicken tenders were good they were nothing to write home for for the price. Overall while the experience and atmosphere is extremely unique, the food was about as good as slim chickens or PDQ. Both of which I could get for slightly cheaper, and have more options. Needless to say we won't be returning, but then again this place just doesn't seem like our vibe. read more

I had never hear of this place but was traveling through DFW with family and they wanted to eat here. They said they really like. I'm always up for trying new things so I did. I am glad we went. The atmosphere was unique and very enjoyable. I love the theming of the restaurant. I was taken back for a moment when the waitress said they don't have menus but once she explained everything to my and gave me my options it all worked out. The fried chicken was awesome. The sides were mashed potatoes and white gravy, corn, and green beans. Oh the biscuits are amazing also. I will go back next time I'm in the DFW area. The waitress was friendly and professional. Bebe's is awesome. The roasted chicken is a work of art! Its always good! My husband enjoys the Chicken Fried steak and all my adult daughters and grandkids rave about the tenders. I've had roast beef and it was good. All the sides are fantastic! All of them! If i had to pick my fav, it would be the corn. But then i could say green beans just as well and if asked again, it would be the gravy! The biscuits are beyond wonderful but probably because i have to have enough butter to soak into both sides and sorghum syrup to run out the sides. Absolutely my favorite dessert of all time! Food is served family-style, a la Buca di Beppo or the all-you-can-meat fest at Salt Lick - they'll bring each member of your table a pillowy, swoonable biscuit first (don't overdo it!), and then commence to bring plate after magical plate of glorious fried chicken until you can take no more and tap out. The skin is perfectly seasoned and crispy (I could eat an entire plate of just the skin alone - omg delicious!), And the meat tucked within it is incomparable levels of juicy and flavorful... I've never had any chicken that compares They do bring sides as well - salad, Mashers, corn, green beans - but honestly, those are all mediocre-bordering-on-gross. The waitress was first ok , but then when I translated for my friend on what they wanted and informed that it was our first time a this restaurant, then came the rudeness from the waitress. After we got the food in less then15 minutes she already came asking if we need to go boxes. I said no and she brought the tab already and we are still eating. She even sent another waitress to do her job and even the one that was sent was disrespectful. We love Babe's, but this location had some problems. First, it is SO dark inside. It was hard for us to see walking into the restaurant and the décor was really strange. You felt like animatronic bears were going to burst out of the woodwork and start singing at any time. The second problem, as soon as I sat down, my feet hit something wet and slippery. Turns out that no one cleaned under the table, and I had just slid into one of Babe's iconic mounds of mashed potatoes. I'm just used to them being on the table, not on the floor. The chicken was great, as usual. It's yummy, well seasoned, moist, and perfectly cooked. The best side is the buttery corn. The biscuits are great too, but the green beans and mashed potatoes are nothing to write home about. Maybe that's why the customers before us threw their whole bowl onto the floor. We will continue to frequent Babe's on our Texas adventures, but will pick a brighter, cleaner location. read more

We went on a Saturday at 5:48 pm. We were seated promptly and Maddie our waitress was super. We both had chicken fried steak. We split one and take one home for leftovers with any biscuits that are leftover. If you haven't been here before the sides are served family style are you are not allowed to take them home as they come with free refills while you dine in. Our favorite is the gravy and mashed potatoes but the corn and green be ans are excellent too. We have ordered Babe's to go and the sides come in big quart containers. So it's also a good way to go. Such a cute family place! We went during the holiday season and I must say ... the place is a winter wonderland!!! Wow! When you walk in, it is like you walked into a courtyard from a mid century town. The tables are set in the middle of town with surrounded by stone buildings. The food is served family style which means unlimited sides. I ordered the fried catfish and it was really well cooked. It was crunchy and well seasoned while the fish remained soft and juicy. My husband ordered hickory chicken and it was also very well done. The corn that comes with the sides was delicious as well as the mashed potatoes. I would give a thumb up for those two sides. We visited yesterday for lunch. First let me start by saying that the food was delicious, except for the overly salted burned green beans. We had fried chicken. Our waitress was great. I would put a 4 star for the food, but since this review won't go through without a rating, I was forced to select one star. My biggest complaint/observation is that the dining area is racially divided. My husband is black and I'm white. We were seated in the dining area to the left, the one that looks like you're in a dark cage. From our table, I had a Birds Eye view of the cashier/waiting line area and my husband had a view of the large dining area. When we were seated, our dining area was almost empty, only one other black family was there when we arrived. After noticing that only black people were being seated in our area; I would tell my husband if a white or a family of color was waiting in line to be seated, and we observed white family after white family seated in the big main dining room. But ALL black and Latino looking families were seated in our dark caged area. Even though there was plenty of room to sit them in the main large dining area, all black and Latino families were seated in the dark caged area - EVERY TIME! Come on Babes, get with the times, the Jim Crow era has ended!! read more

We visited the Burleson restaurant on 6-6-22 at approximately 740 pm. We were seated in a timely manner. The restaurant was EXTREMELY loud and the waitress told the table what the dishes were in a barely audible voice. I asked for a menu and she looked at me like I had a third eye. This was my first time here and did not know it was community service. Maybe the waitresses can be trained to ask? The food was ordered and arrived in a timely manner. I had the fried chicken mashed potatoes, green beans and gravy. All my food was lukewarm. Not warm or preferably, hot. The chicken and green beans were extremely salty to the point of being inedible. The potatoes were just okay but would have been better hot. Microwave anyone? This was my first meal in Texas. Things can only go up. read more

Food was perfection, absolutely delicious. Loved the environment/ambiance. My only complaint, and it's a big one since I didn't get to eat most of my dinner is the not allowing food to go. I have a toddler.. which I'm assuming a lot of your patrons do and this particular toddler was not behaving well in your establishment. I am not one of those parents that lets their child cry while everyone has to suffer while they try to eat their dinner. Instead, I took him walking around the restaurant, the stairs (up and down up and down.. got my steps in to say the least) and outside. The main flaw and reason for this review is staff per your policy would not let my husband box up my food to go. This was devastating to me as I'd had a couple small bites of those delicious mashed potatoes and corn before said toddlers meltdown and was truly looking forward to finishing my meal. For Pete's sake make some exceptions to your policy once in awhile. The only option was for us to pay for additional items to go as side items... We have been to this location before about 4 years ago, which was not a pleasant experience at that time but decided to give them another WOOP WOOP. Upon arriving we knew that there would be a wait since it was Labor Day Weekend and that was fine, no issue with us, it gave us time to spend with each other and reminisce. The sweet girl working the "before" entrance was sympathetic and offered water and a smile to everyone waiting outside; including our party. She was very accurate about our 15-30 minute wait time. (THE only reason for the 2 stars) After 20 minutes our name was called, our party of 4 walked in and there were about 4 hostesses waiting for customers to be seated. One guided us to our table and our assigned waitress was no where in sight. We probably waited another 15 to 20 minutes before she showed up. Once she made her appearance she made us feel hurried about our drink order (with no smile) and another 10 minutes later we were served our drinks. Then 15 minutes after she asked if she needed to give us the specials and I said "Yes, please. I have not been here before. Do you have a menu?" She looked at me and said "There IS no menu, its a verbal menu" So I apologized and told her "This is my first time here" Still no smile whatsoever. We ordered and received our food which the sides were for 2. We tried to enjoy but ran out of food, water and waited another 20 minutes until we had tracked her down. Waters, teas, vegetables and other sides were empty for quite awhile. When we finally got her attention she acted as if WE were displacing HER. Upon getting ready to leave we did not want to waste any leftovers so we asked her to pack what was left on the table and she said she would bring a bag. She did, and while we were putting our leftover meat in the bag she moved faster than she had the entire time we had been there to race us to the left over vegetables! My original review about this location still stands. They claim to be a Christian run store but they would rather throw away and waste food than have it taken home by customers who paid good money for it. John 6:12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, "Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost." We paid way over $100.00 plus tip. We've eaten at the Roanoke location in the past, so we know the drill here. However, there are a couple of changes. In the past they've had only 2 meat options... fried chicken and chicken fried steak. Now they're offering smoked chicken, chicken strips and fried catfish. I tried the strips and my wife had the CFS. The strips were really good. The steak and sides were consistent... you know what you're gonna get here. Our friend had the smoked chicken. Said it was OK, but a little dry. (That's been my general experience with smoked chicken any time.) You're never going to walk away from Babes saying, "That's the best meal ever." However, they do a great job at what they do. They're VERY consistent. BTW...as we were leaving, I asked for a to-go cup for my tea. They don't do to-go cups. At first I thought, REALLY? Then it hit me, they do what they need to do to hold down costs...and that's a good thing. read more

This place is great if you're in the mood for some comfort food. The fried chicken, chicken tenders, and chicken fried steak are all really good. The sides, served family style, are also pretty outstanding and are all you can eat. The biscuits are great and served hot, creamed corn is tasty, green beans are scrumptious, and how can you go wrong with mashed potatoes and gravy! The only side I'm not a fan of is the salad. The price is right for the amount of food you get, it comes out quickly, waitstaff is friendly, and you can byob. One of my favorite places! read more

They are known for their fried chicken which is good and juicy. Cones family style with sides of corn, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. And warm biscuits! Did not like the green beans. They tasted very vinegary. Potatoes, gravy and corn were really good. Had plenty of chicken for leftovers. We'll go back when we want some good comfort food but not during peak times.
