I wanted a catalytic converter guard put on after mine was stolen, and Babes ordered and got the part within a few days. The catalytic converter didnt end up coming in till over 8 MONTHS!!!!! Later at the other shop that was doing that part. Babes was totally understanding about my delay due to other work unfinished and had my part ready to go when I came in with my new cat converter installed. They installed it in about 45 minutes while I waited. I was able to ask about there cool Babes statue in front of the shop, turns out its a national landmark, and is owned by the city. So its a hit of a historic site too. Very nice! read more

I wish they were a bit more professional. I walked in with my exhaust where the hangers were coming off their welds (maybe 2-3 inches of work). After looking at the damage, they just handed it off to one of the workers to start welding before any discussion about pricing or info on exhaust or exhaust material. Now this is where I had to learn my lesson the hard way; I came in with a titanium exhaust and didn't have the foreknowledge that most exhaust shops can't weld titanium. So the welding didn't bond well, made a big mess of the area with drops splashing onto other parts of the muffler and I was charged $50. I would've preferred that they at least gave me a quote before working on it and I feel like this whole situation could've been avoided with a few general questions regarding the exhaust. read more

Terrible quality this is the third time my exhaust has cracked after taking it to babes muffler. The second time on this car. I had the exhaust rear muffler fall off the car and how the resonator muffler has cracked at the weld and also at the first weld. Avoid at all cost. They could have at least installed a flex coupler. I normally don't leave reviews, but I feel like people should be warned. I had exhaust tips installed here and they stuck them way too far out past the bumper. I live all the way in Gilroy, so I trusted that the job was done right. Turns out, the tips were sticking out so far that they scraped constantly--driveways, dips, you name it. Totally avoidable if they'd done the install properly. When I finally brought the car back and asked them to fix it and bring the tips in, they refused correcting the work and wanted to charge me. Their excuse? "We can't adjust it now because the tips are scraped." Of course they're scraped--their poor install is the whole reason that happened in the first place. Super frustrating experience. I wasted time, money, and now I'm stuck dealing with the damage. Would not recommend. read more

Babes Mufflers is AWESOME! They were so helpful. I had bought a used 2020 Honda and was told that it did have a muffler but the resonator had been removed. I took it to Babes, they got it up in the air and showed me that in fact, it was missing two mufflers and a resonator. They replaced everything on the spot and had me out the door in no time. I no longer recommend getting any exhaust work from Babes. I got some additional work done on my Dodge Charger Scatpack last year and when I was inspecting my exhaust the other day there was shoddy welds and even a huge area that was never even welded. Took a 2005 Nissan for a new catalytic converters. Was given the repair and sent home, telling us to bring it back next week for tune up. When returning to repair shop, the converter started MELTING on the highway! Repair shop now says we "MAY need a new transmission or engine"! I was told by my Porsche mechanic that I need to find someone to fix the muffler on my '70's 924. I called around locally and was told that I'd have to get the muffler from the dealer, or maybe I could find one on eBay. When I called Babe's they said: "why don't you drive it down here and see if we can do something?" I parked my car by their garage, (entrance is on Wilson Avenue), and within 2 minutes they pulled another car off the lift and I drove my car on. We looked at the exhaust setup and asked me what I wanted to do. So the resonator and muffler were replaced. They started on it before I reached Hannah coffee across the street. I got a cup of coffee, sat outside, and watched them complete the work on my car. In less than 30 minutes they waved me over to get it. I still had my hot coffee from Hannah when I got back. i was referred to Babe's by Akin auto repair in San Jose. Mr. Akin has always provided me with truly excellent service, but he does not do work on catalytic converters. I know that this kind of work can be quite expensive. Akin assured me that Babes is honest and would do their best to earn my business. Went to the shop, and met the new owner, Javier. He understood my need to keep costs reasonable, and my need to get my car back during the first week of the year, since I use it on a daily basis for a serious commute. He and his team went above and behind, to handle everything perfectly. They were extra careful, to be sure they worked on the correct bank, since I had done another replacement about eighteen months earlier. When it was going to take a little longer to finish up the work, they promptly called .. and there were no surprises when it was time to pay them. Babes developed an excellent reputation over the years when it was owned by Charlie Wilson. Based on my experience, I would say that Javier and his crew are very worthy successors, and would encourage other Yelpers, to seek them out for work on exhaust systems, brakes and other automotive services. read more

I will never go back to this shop again. The one who installed my exhaust and changed my muffler tips is gone. The leftover welder is the laziest and rudest guy I've ever encountered. Talk about not wanting to work since I'm the only customer there. I went today to Classic Muffler and Andy took care of me and within an hour he was done. The welder in Babes Muffler said the tips I bought were too big and won't fit and when I showed it to Classic Muffler he said he will install it no problem. This welder just didn't want to work and told me that I should listen to him coz he is the expert ‍. I don't recommend this shop unless they change this lazy guy! read more

Had to revise my earlier review. After overlooking the work I had done (aftermarket header install), they don't know what they are doing. They cut and welded poorly the EGR . It took them all day after they bragged it was easily done in an hour and a half. What hacks. read more

I'm usually pretty hesitant to leave bad reviews, but this is just ridiculous. Brought my car here a few months ago to have a muffler welded in, and initially I thought the service was good. They were responsive and seemed reassuring, but come to find out they really didn't do at all what I had asked. I specifically wanted a flanged system so that the muffler would be easy to remove. They called me back and told me that one of the dual pipes could be flanged but the other had to be welded as it didn't not line up properly and would otherwise leak. no big deal. I had them weld it. A few weeks later I go to remove my muffler and notice that they had welded my hanger nuts to the studs that drop down from the chassis, making them impossible the remove or ever be used again. I was kinda pissed off but I let it slide, ended up having to cut the studs off, relocate the mounting position, and go about my business. Today I go to remove the whole rear portion of the exhaust to service my car and notice that not only had they left a sizable gap where they had previously welded two sections of pipe together, but they also tack welded the flanges together. Really? the whole point of the flanges is for easy removable. If i wanted a more permanent system I would've just had them fully weld that section too. That's just a lack of care. The price was decent and they got it done quick, but I won't be coming back. For anyone who needs something repaired that they don't want to have to worry about again, they get the job done. For anyone who works on their car and will be removing and reinstalling parts later down the road, you'll most likely run into headaches due to the lack of care involved. Don't be surprised if you find yourself having to undo the work that they had previously done like I now have to. read more
