I had a turkey burger, and I will have to say it was quite good. The chicken tender meal was ginormous and my partner could barely finish it. I haven't eaten here in years and it wasn't at this location. Very clean , when you walk inside you order your food at the counter . The young lady/ or man will put it on a piece of paper and swing it on a string to the kitchen that's a little bit of a distance from the cashier. They call you out by name and the food comes out and crispy! Fries had a good crunch to them. Burgers were so flavorful but very greasy but hey! Perhaps I was spoiled by the location in Helotes where I always enjoyed the food, the service, and the overall experience. This time, I decided to try the location off of Huebner Rd. It's tucked away near the Huebner Medical Center. I ordered the Double Cheeseburger with the Onion Rings. I have had both before, but at the location in Helotes. The food was ready fairly quickly as expected, the place was not busy at all. There were only 3 other parties in the place at the time. The rings were very good. You would think so as well. Their rings are fairly polarizing; you either love them or hate them. I like the thinner and more "natural" rings. Crunchy in all bites, and not under-done in the slightest. Giving the burger a little time to cool down, I took my first bite. The veggies were fresh, the bun was nice (firm, fresh, and toasted). Then meat took me by surprise however. First let me preface this by saying, that I am not sensitive to things being over-salted. For me to say that something is too salty, I would not be exaggerating in any way. The meat was very salty. I can only assume that they use a seasoning mixture, but it was very heavy with the salt. Hoping that it was perhaps only on one of the patties, or in a specific area of the meat, I tried to enjoy it nonetheless. I was able to get through only half of the burger, only for the fact that I starving. The overall 3 star rating is only attributed to the seasoning on the Hamburger. Everything else was fine. Will I go back to Babe's? Sure, but only to the Helotes location and I will mention the seasoning on the meat in advance. Would I recommend Babe's? Of course, but there are better burger places in San Antonio, so it depends on what side of town you are on. So, enjoy at your own risk, but that goes for any place that you eat nowadays. Ordered a cheeseburger, got a hamburger. Milkshake running over and dripping down the outside of the cup. So messy I decided to eat it at the outside table rather than get in my car with the sticky mess. Ordered fries and rings combo, got a separate order of each Onions rings charred to a crisp. This was my second time visiting Babe's. I don't remember for sure what I got the first time but I think it was pizza because I remember they didn't offer sausage, just ground beef as a topping. This time my crew went for burgers and we shared loaded nachos instead of fries. Our interactions with employees were pleasant, so kudos on friendliness. The tortilla chips tasted and textured like home-fried tortillas, the topping were fine. Not particularly amazing, but not bad either. I got a bacon cheese burger. I asked if I could get grilled onions and I was told I could, but the extra charge was $1.50 because they count it as a side. I went along with it but I was disappointed with quantity of onions for a buck and a half. The burger was good all in all, but I don't think I'll be going back. My mom had a doctors appointment in the area and passed this on the way! I was super interested in giving this place a try and seeing what it was all about! This was definitely a good choice! I loved how friendly the service was the food came our pretty fast. The food was piping hot and fries were nice and crisp. I was very pleased with my meal and will definitely be back. I was sad they were out of cheese sticks, but will definitely try those next time. There's a lot of places to sit and you can eat outside as well. Spicy Tenders were good not very spicy but they had a good kick. They were tender and moist. Honestly it was some really good chicken strips. If you get the chance for a late lunch you order is quick. Not sure about right at lunch time. I was there just after 1 ish. Honestly I could probably eat these at least 2 days in a row. This was a first time visit. I was very pleased from start to finish Due to the pandemic I'm not eating out quite as often as I use to. I gave 5 stars because from the start the cashier was very helpful and friendly. She repeated the order exactly as I told it to her with all the special details while looking directly at me rather than the paper she was writing on. With that being said my order was exactly what I wanted. The cook is out in the open so you can see him preparing the food. When I saw real potatoes and real onions I was impressed. He hand battered the onion rings and the fried pickles. Mushrooms could have been fried a little harder but I didn't request it so I didn't complain. He looked like he enjoyed his job that's a plus on any job. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and my daughter ordered a double cheeseburger with guacamole. They were delicious and fresh. We've come to Babe's since they opened; however, the service and quality has drastically declined. My son had a hair hanging from his burger, we got the bottom of the barrel fries, and the cooks didn't have hair nets (one even sneezed while cooking at the stove). FOOD - Avacodo Burger (by employee recommendation), is excellent. The wings [were not great]. I'm guessing they were a frozen food-service bulk food, but they were breaded and the breading was sticky from the sauce and tasted really-previously-frozen (like other food flavors steeped in). The Tea seemed to be from Instant. Stop that TX, make it from the leaf and charge extra. Good tea makes it all better. SERVICE - excellent, quick, nice younger folks and made us feel like family here. AMBIANCE - I love this place, inside especially. Welcoming and a little bit of that "classic," feeling. Notes: Maybe make the burgers 3/4 lb by hand. Differentiate, (charge more if you have to), just so they're the best.
