We were in the Medical Center area and got hungry. We looked on Yelp and found this location near us. We had never been, so we thought it would be a good time to try it. Getting into this location can be a test of your driving abilities as the traffic is insane. Also, the front parking is very limited, and we ended up at the business next door. Walking in, we found no one to greet us or direct us where to go to order. We finally figured it out about the time somebody showed up to help us. My wife ordered one of the options that was a special of the day. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. We got our drinks and went and found a table. Food was ready pretty quickly, and I picked it up and brought it to our table. The smell of the food had my mouth watering:) The food was exactly as we ordered, was very hot, and OMG was it tasty. We consumed it so quickly and said "why have we never been here before"? This place has earned a slot in one of our favorite places. However, we are going to look at one of the small chain's other locations as this is so far from where we live. Will I return? Most definitely! read more

I've been frequenting 3 of their locations for 15 years now, including this one. All I can say is they have NEVER let me down with their juicy, flavorful burgers. Their fries and onion rings are also the bomb diggity. I have NEVER had a complaint with this place. They have salads and pizzas also, but I recommend sticking to their kick ass burgers. You will not be disappointed! It's walk up and order at the counter style, then they call your name. They have a very large selection of canned and bottled beer. I haven't eaten here in years and it wasn't at this location. Very clean , when you walk inside you order your food at the counter . The young lady/ or man will put it on a piece of paper and swing it on a string to the kitchen that's a little bit of a distance from the cashier. They call you out by name and the food comes out and crispy! Fries had a good crunch to them. Burgers were so flavorful but very greasy but hey! Perhaps I was spoiled by the location in Helotes where I always enjoyed the food, the service, and the overall experience. This time, I decided to try the location off of Huebner Rd. It's tucked away near the Huebner Medical Center. I ordered the Double Cheeseburger with the Onion Rings. I have had both before, but at the location in Helotes. The food was ready fairly quickly as expected, the place was not busy at all. There were only 3 other parties in the place at the time. The rings were very good. You would think so as well. Their rings are fairly polarizing; you either love them or hate them. I like the thinner and more "natural" rings. Crunchy in all bites, and not under-done in the slightest. Giving the burger a little time to cool down, I took my first bite. The veggies were fresh, the bun was nice (firm, fresh, and toasted). Then meat took me by surprise however. First let me preface this by saying, that I am not sensitive to things being over-salted. For me to say that something is too salty, I would not be exaggerating in any way. The meat was very salty. I can only assume that they use a seasoning mixture, but it was very heavy with the salt. Hoping that it was perhaps only on one of the patties, or in a specific area of the meat, I tried to enjoy it nonetheless. I was able to get through only half of the burger, only for the fact that I starving. The overall 3 star rating is only attributed to the seasoning on the Hamburger. Everything else was fine. Will I go back to Babe's? Sure, but only to the Helotes location and I will mention the seasoning on the meat in advance. Would I recommend Babe's? Of course, but there are better burger places in San Antonio, so it depends on what side of town you are on. So, enjoy at your own risk, but that goes for any place that you eat nowadays. This was my second time visiting Babe's. I don't remember for sure what I got the first time but I think it was pizza because I remember they didn't offer sausage, just ground beef as a topping. This time my crew went for burgers and we shared loaded nachos instead of fries. Our interactions with employees were pleasant, so kudos on friendliness. The tortilla chips tasted and textured like home-fried tortillas, the topping were fine. Not particularly amazing, but not bad either. I got a bacon cheese burger. I asked if I could get grilled onions and I was told I could, but the extra charge was $1.50 because they count it as a side. I went along with it but I was disappointed with quantity of onions for a buck and a half. The burger was good all in all, but I don't think I'll be going back. I gave 5 stars because from the start the cashier was very helpful and friendly. She repeated the order exactly as I told it to her with all the special details while looking directly at me rather than the paper she was writing on. With that being said my order was exactly what I wanted. The cook is out in the open so you can see him preparing the food. When I saw real potatoes and real onions I was impressed. He hand battered the onion rings and the fried pickles. Mushrooms could have been fried a little harder but I didn't request it so I didn't complain. He looked like he enjoyed his job that's a plus on any job. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and my daughter ordered a double cheeseburger with guacamole. They were delicious and fresh. the kids and I stopped to get dinner after baseball practice and as we were walking up our African American cook wearing the blue shirt was caught making a gesture and face as he saw us coming in and aggravated enough sent the hanging ticket tag back to the girl at the front. i told my kids to wait at the door and I saw the short hair girl at the register also make a face. I walked up to her and asked if they were closed ? she said no not until 9pm and it we 7:30pm.
