This place was so good I ate here 2 days in a row! Their buns taste sweet and homemade, their fries with cheese remind me of Fudruckers back in the day, and their burger has great flavor and is cooked just right!! I will definitely be back every time we come to San Antonio!

Cool burger spot downtown right at the corner across from a Chick-fil-A. The burgers are pretty decent.. They serve curled wedge fries..

I have to say it to Z Bunz is hands down better than In N Out and Habit. Meat is substantial and it just tastes great! The bun is a tad too soft and it fell apart. Fries were good. This place looks like a college dorm with the foosball table and minus the odors. Restaurant is clean. Prices are ok. A good lunch!

Fast. Efficient ... got an order right that had a lot of customs. We tried the Banzai and the Cheek .. liked both. Juicy hamburger. Bun did not hold well to the Banzai as it was full of cole slaw, mayo pork and more. We also went back to order the Red Velvet shake ... the pretzel Nutella shake is must try next time.

Visited Bunz on a recent trip to San Antonio. I got the Cheek Bunz after a recommendation from the cashier. While it wasn't the best burger I've had, the fries were unique and tasty and it was a decent meal. I feel for the price (nearly $18 with the fries) the burger or side of fries should have been a bit more substantial. Despite this, I think it's worth paying a visit if you're craving burgers in the area!

It's been a long time since I've eaten at Bunz. The last time I had the burger. This time I got the Chicking Chicking sandwich and an order of regular fries. The chicken sandwich was properly cooked with a nice crunch to it. It wasn't as flavorful as I hoped it would be. The fries were pretty good. They need a little salt and pepper to make them right in my opinion. The service was good not great and the decor was decent. Bunz is just okay in my opinion and a bit overpriced. The Chicking Chicking sandwich and fries with water came out to over $18. It's not a place I would highly recommend.

Great burgers, service was good considering they were slammed when we got here. The fries were delicious as well. Great find downtown

Bunzilla order with regular fries and chili cheese fries. These burgers were oozing with the goodness of hand crafted burgers! AWESOME!

Nice spot in downtown San Antonio!!! very friendly atmosphere!! We ate the Bunzilla. The meat was fresh and cooked rare to medium rare the way I like a burger to be cooked. The buns are baked there fresh on site. The chili cheese fries and the fries themselves were made just right! The service was friendly and the condiments available went the extra mile. I gave a 5 star review because this place deserves it. Clean eating area and clean restroom area goes a long way. Keep up the good work! We will definitely be back again.

First time trying this burger place, they have homemade buns and the burger are big and tasty, the staff is very friendly even when we go almost at closing time. The place has a casual vibe and family friendly. They have parking across the street.

I popped into this place on a whim before a tattoo appointment and I've been hooked ever since. Whether you're ordering a seafood burger, loaded fries or one of their hamburgers, you are surely bound to have an explosion of flavor. It sometimes takes a bit for the food to come out, but it is always worth a little wait time. The inside isn't anything fancy but it gets the job done with plenty of tables. If you're craving something sweet after or even while you eat, their milkshakes are just the right amount of thick and sweet. Service at times may be a bit rushed but that doesn't stop me from going back time and time again.

this was my review for the other location before it closed... so disregard everything except the part where i review the food! this place has such a clean and cool ambiance (not too bright, not too dark) and they're so friendly towards students- they even have a student discount! :D i don't know if they still have this, but they have an arcade machine! torito bunz: 6/10 it was very juicy and fresh but i think the beans just weren't my thing cuz of grease!! bombardier fries: 9/10 these were so flavorful and loaded! we couldn't finish so i had leftovers that i used for a a snack only critique is that the sour cream tasted a tiny bit weird

When you walk in and see the giant paper towel rolls on the table you know you're in for a treat, the ambiance was open and trendy. The food was delicious and full of flavor, this was my first visit to Bunz and my first side of fries with goat cheese. I absolutely loved these fries and the burger was packed with flavors that all worked well together.

Do the gluten free buns contain eggs? Is there any onion/garlic (powdered included) added that can be removed from the vegan burger?

Do they have a valid phone number? Do they accept reservations?

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Woohoo! Been looking for chili cheese fries and happened upon a review for this place boasting fries with a homemade chili so we HAD TO stop in tonight. THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.

Update to first review below, rating updated from a 3 to a 5 star (drinks & bartender would get 10+…read morestars if we could rate that high): Saturday night: Went back for after dinner drinks at the Downstairs (a "speakeasy" throwback, look up the history of the place to see why). Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

At a burger joint that fries everything, including the chicken, in beef tallow, that meant there was literally nothing on the menu I could eat. When I mentioned it, a staff member offered to personally walk me to a nearby restaurant that cooks in peanut oil, in the middle of a World Cup-night crowd with every seat in the house full. When that place turned out to be too slammed, the head cook came to our table unprompted and offered to grill me a chicken sandwich on the spot, off-menu, away from the beef oil, with a homemade sauce.
