Treated my beautiful bride to an ultimate delicacy I haven't had in over 6 years, since I left CA. I spotted an In-n-Out in my peripheral vision driving down I-35 in San Antonio and made her get off the next exit to get there. I've heard people from TX say Whataburger is better. They've never had a Double Double or a 4x2 (4 patties and 2 slices of cheese) Animal Style with diced chiles and fries Animal Style. OMG! IYKYK! You can get a 4x4, but I prefer to taste the meat without overwhelming it with cheese. The place was packed but lots of very friendly employees keeping the tables and floor cleaned and food being served hot. It was great to see a good business thriving. The value is incredible too. An Animal Style Double Double, an Animal Style 4x2, and fries Animal Style, with a medium soda and 2 chocolate shakes, only $28. Not too shabby! Came in for a quick bite through the drive-through. I will say the service is really fast and easy. The only problem that I have really is with the fries , I always order the animal style fries and it just seems like the restaurant throws a slice of cheese on there, which maybe is the restaurant preference but most of the time it's not melted. Unlike Austin's In & Out, this one is NOT nasty! Customer service is well done on the nice & open to joke around side. The quality of the food is fresh & easily noticed once you take a big chomp into the burgers. The lettuce & tomatoes tasted like it came from a hand picked garden & the beef patties were seasoned well. So, I know now why they call it Animal style with a double double. . . because it's too large to fit into your mouth & too messy that napkins are very beneficial. This visit, I was a bit flustered with their lack of knives for customers. Eating only meat patties, the plastic fork the provided was pretty flimsy. It was hard to cut with. We dined in for lunch today. We had a hamburger protein style, and a couple cheeseburgers with fries and chocolate and strawberry shakes. We were greeted by the cashier ready and willing to take our orders. I love that I can get a burger in a lettuce wrap (protein style) so I can cut the carbs from the bun. Food was delicious as per usual for in and out. I love there's in an out here in San Antonio. The restaurant was busy but clean and well kept. Visited on a Sunday afternoon and this place was a packed with a line wrapped around the dining area! Every seat was taken as well and the drive-thru was about 5-6 cars deep. Once ordered, the preparation was exact and surprisingly pretty fast. The service was friendly and helpful. The burgers and fries were tasty, hot, and delicious! This review is long overdue; sorry In-N-Out.... I have one thought and that is In-N-Out is GREAT!!! Wherever they are! Nuff said. Ok, not enough. Establishment looks brand new and clean. But its not brand new and it is Clean. They have workers constantly sweeping the floors and disinfecting tables. I had to wait for partial of my order. They brought it to me. How great is that? Proximity easy to find, right off the freeway south of Buc-ee's. Ample parking with 2 entrances to the restaurant. Inside and out! it is the rubber stamp of all In-N-Outs. I can't remember how long it's been since we have been to an In-N-Out Burger, but I am totally glad we have them here in SA! My husband got the #3 Animal Style: which means they grill the onions , the fries were also animal style and they add the sauce on top of the fries for that. I got a #2 Protein Style: basically it's a lettuce wrap. I did not have the sauce on it. I found out on my very first visit to In-N-Out in California that I am allergic to the sauce; and yes I found out the hard way! You would think I would stay clear of here based on my first visit, but the truth is this is one of my favorite fast food places. The fresh cut fries are amazing and the lettuce wrap burger is so juicy. It was such a beautiful day that we took advantage of the outdoor seating area. The noise level inside was average with how busy it was, but we wanted to enjoy the sunshine. We will definitely be coming back! Now, the photo I posted. Food that should've been hot was cold. Shake that should've been cold/frozen, was melted & NOT frozen. One of the absolute worst fast food experiences to date. Wow! It's been 18 years since I've darkened the door of an In-N-Out Burger establishment, & I instantly remember why! I took a few fries out as I was leaving the drive thru line. But, there is a reason I went through HR drive through at lunch time! I had work to get back to. So, I was all, hey let's try the burger. Simple cheeseburger can't go wrong. Wrong. Again. The burger patty was not even slightly warm. It tasted as if it was sitting in the pan waiting to be reheated kinda cold. So, okay, last straw - the guy said the chocolate milkshake was their thickest. HA! It was actually completely melted. Liquid. Not a shake. So, yeah, if you're seeking cold food (at lunchtime, you know the rush hour time), or warm milkshakes, apparently In-N-Out Burger is the place for you. Not a good way to spend $15+ at lunch. I don't regret things in life much, I 100% regret this choice today! Never again. Never. Now, if I could rate staff over food, I would have put more stars! To be honest, I'm not too impressed with the In-N-Out burger. It's not a bad burger but it's not the best I've had in SATX. I've been to the sites in Waco and N. Austin a few times. That said, the service at this particular location is pretty good. The staff move folks through the busy waves as they came. You won't have to wait long whether you're dining in, taking out, or grabbing food in the drive thru. The food was fresh, but what probably ruined this particular visit were the fries. They were cooked fresh, but tasted like there were not cooked thru. You know that flat taste that's between stale and flavorless - it was lacking that crisp outside, warm inside fry taste. Somebody mentioned that maybe they're not double fried? I just think they're not fried enough. The location is easy to find has its own private parking lot. Staying at a nearby hotel and was hungry. I saw a review for In-N-Out and how good they were so decided it sounded yummy. I ordered a single cheeseburger animal style as I like grilled onions along with fries and a coke. I took it back to my hotel and by the time I got there (not long) the fries were practically inedible - stone cold, hard and dry - like some of the worst frozen ones I've had. The burger, well, it was colder than stone cold. My taste buds were nevertheless searching for the grilled onions which were barely there hidden under the cheese. I did not eat even half of the meal as it was so disappointing. My doggies helped me out and did not complain though. This joint is severely over-hyped and is nothing special at all. People have hyped up this restaurant for years. Even friends when living in NYC and traveling to California. I finally decided to try them since I am moving out of state soon. I work from home so decided to go have lunch OUT today. Took my fur child with me and went to this location as it was the closest. It was packed but the line went fast. I did some research on line before I went to look at prices and menu. I decided on the double double meal animal style. The internet did not tell me that was $13. The sign at In/Out says the double double meal is a little over $6. I also got 1 plain hamburger for my dog. Almost $17!! WOW. I was shocked. Then the worker asked if I would be eating in my car and I just thought he meant "to go" so I said yes. I didn't know I would not get a bag and would "have to" eat in my car. We paid and parked. I started with the burger which looked good, but it was not. I mean it was edible, but there was nothing special about it whatsoever and it was messy. Very hard to eat in the car and keep your car and yourself clean. I was not expecting the fries to have a sauce on them, I thought just cheese and onions. I know the fries are supposed to be fresh but they tasted freezer burned to me. I only had a few and tossed the rest. The location is spotless, outside looked very well maintained and employees were friendly. However I have 100% eaten better burgers. I guess I am just not a fan. Sorry folks. read more

I personally haven't been to a In N out before today but that was definitely worthwhile the patty on there burger is so freaking good which for me a person who doesn't care for many toppings is a huge win. I had heard through the grapevine that there fries were pretty mid but I was pleasantly surprised by this batch and personally I thought they were quite underrated even if I went a little overboard on the salt. The vanilla milkshake was quite basic but surprisingly good overall. I personally loved the 50's atmosphere which reminded me of Steak 'n Shake. The price tho was great basically everything on the menu is 3$ besides the 5$ double double which is crazy for how good the food is. Overall I have just found a new place to add to my list of fast food favorites 5/5 would eat again read more

The burgers were absolutely great! They were hot and tasty. I had it animal style with grilled onions. Nice , I know. Idk how tasty compared to The Big Kahuna burger in Pulp Fiction but very good. The fries were not great. They were below standard. I had them in animal style. I was heading home so the animal style was something of a big harden blob when I was driving and tryna eat these things. I lifted dry and it all was almost solidified and try to hang on to this one fry. I give the fries a score of 2. The burger a score of 10. Service was excellent. I was born and raised in CA and actually lived right down the street from the 1st In-N-Out. What most people on here reviewing about In-N-Out and telling them to go to Whataburger is.... In-N-Out prides themselves on freshness. They never use frozen burger patties or fries. Even their buns are freshly baked daily. AND all are locally sourced. Those meat patties that some are complaining about comes from Texas. SO if it's tastless and you think it's making you sick, then just remember... these are ALL local sourced. In-N-Out also has no freezers in ANY of their stores. Those big fridges you see there are to keep produce they get daily cold and fresh. Your french fries? Those potatoes are and peeled daily and the cut (when you're in the drive thru you can see them cutting the fries. Secret Menu - Yes there is an In-N-Out secret menu. Not so secret in CA so to help out here you go: Animal Style - Mustard Fried patties with grilled onions and pickles 4 X 4 = 4 patties burger (instead of ordering 2 double doubles) Flying Dutchman - Two meat patties and two slices of cheese melted in between the patties. No trimmings or bun Protein Style - No bun and wrapped in lettuce Animal Style Fries - Steamed cheese on top with grilled onions Grilled Cheese - It speaks for itself. You can also add grilled onion Vegetarian Burger - Everything but the meat patty My rating is for the service. I get that Texans aren't used to In-N-Out and their culture. Great Disappointed!! The Double Double Burger was ok. Could have used a bit more seasoning. The condiments were fresh, but the onion was cut quite thick and over powered the burger. The fries were horrible, the worst I've ever had. They tasted like card board and just flopped when picked up. Ketchup couldn't even save them. Only ate a few and in the garbage went the rest. My husband's favorite burger in the south is Whataburger, which I've had, so my daughter and I were curious about how In-N-Out compared. I found the menu to be very limited, like 6 things, with no real variety of burgers and they are smaller, griddle-like burgers. That would be ok if they were phenomenal, but they are not. Very limited toppings and I did not like their signature sauce at all. It's mix of thousand island dressing and Mayo and it ruined the burger for me.
