After spending a week in Mexico, I needed to get some work done which meant NOT being at my house! So, my daughter suggested Baby Goat Coffeehouse which I had passed many times but never ventured into. What a treat! The staff was friendly and the coffee was delicious. My daughter ordered an iced chai and still feeling like I was on vacation, I got an iced mocha. I am often disappointed in coffee as I am spoiled by our coffee at home, but Baby Goat did not disappoint. The space for working was delightful (other than the music was a bit too loud even for a conversation and not my style). We just moved outside at this point, which worked out well. It's so nice to have a coffee shop next to Hoshi, but the coffee isn't very good here. It's watery and has no body. Today 12-21-2023 -- was the worst day I've experienced because the two women working there are incredibly loud. It's like they want to put a show on for everyone, with their personal conversations. It was quite invasive. One man came in and tried to drop a hint without offending. At first he told her, her voice was really strong, but she couldn't hear over her own talking. Then he changed and said her voice was beautiful and that she should be a singer. She said she was, but he was trying to make here aware of how loud her voice was throughout the whole room. Plus, the music was great, but on a very short loop. Bluegrass Jingle Bells is fun, but not 3 times in one hour. If you like sweet lattes or weaker coffee, this place is probably fine for you. And depending on the day, obnoxiously loud and piercing voices, bouncing off the walls. read more

This place is a complete mess. Dirty, trash bags on the floor where the customers pick up their coffee. Bad drinks, had to throw my chocolate milk away after taking one sip. Watery coffee drinks. Lack of selection, overpriced. The staff is rude or ignores you, having their own private chat. Sorry to interrupt, can I help keep your business alive?! I had a 20-minute discussion over them claiming they handed me the wrong change. Mind you, the difference was between whether it was a $10 or $20 dollar bill. Imagine the perfect sandwich and beverage in the midst of quiet people as you hum along to an outstanding set of old school tunes. This is The Goat, situated in the outskirts of Boulder-proper and with almost ample parking. And if you also buying a car next door at Green Eyes Motors, you're in for a treat. Between the peaceful and straight forward buying process and this lovely cafe, I couldn't be happier. The furniture here at The Goat is comfy while the long table brings about a community feel. This is in an interesting location, I was confused when I pulled into the parking lot of what looked to be a coffee shop and used car dealership. And I was right! The building is split by a small divider, on the left side a small car dealership and on the right "The Baby Goat" as it says from the outside, but is indeed The Laughing Goat. The door to get to the coffee shop is the same door used to enter the dealership. As far as a coffee shop, it serves its purpose. Espressos, cortados, etc. I got an iced matcha latte and sat down to do some work on my laptop. They have an open WiFi network (so no WiFi password). The place is small and relatively quiet, but I couldn't help feeling like I was in the lobby of the car dealership. My matcha latte was also very powdery and chalk-like tasting. Not twrrible, but I probably won't be back. read more

I have been going to The Laughing Goat regularly for a couple years and I love the place. Nice atmosphere, very friendly service and delicious coffee. Recently though, parking has been a problem and some of the people I usually meet there have asked that we move to a different coffee shop since they have a hard time finding a spot to park. That's too bad, but it is true that parking can be tricky. It seems that ever since the garage next door was remodeled The Laughing Goat lost quite a few parking spots. There never was any problem before (or very rarely.) Still, a great spot for coffee (and a bite if needed), I just wish the parking situation would improve. read more

Have been back 3 times since my initial visit and I always enjoy the food more than the coffee. If you're ordering a sweet drink, you obviously can't tell that the coffee isn't extracted well, but if you want to order a simple espresso or an unsweetened cappuccino, the coffee consistently tastes bitter and savory (reminiscent of ball park hot dogs, not even exaggerating.) It's also kind of a bummer that with all the coffee talent around nowadays, milk art still seems to be an afterthought here (only one of my 3 drinks, pictured, had a pretty little design.) Lastly, no punch cards (why the heck not?) This is definitely your no-frills coffee shop that exists for purpose over pleasure. If I'm looking to get out and be around the buzz of people while sipping on a good latte I come to this place. The cafe is situated alongside a car dealership inside the showroom with concrete floors, large picnic tables in the middle, a couch, and small side tables. Free water is available for self-serve and an assortment of locally grown snacks and breakfast items from burritos to cookies line the register counter and fridges. If you want a quick, filling meal for the morning try the breakfast burrito. The scene is fairly relaxing, not overly loud, and easy enough to do some work on a computer or read a book. I went by here today thanks to a bunch of cards someone dropped off in our break room at work. I work in the epicentre of the Great Boulder Culinary Wasteland, aka East Boulder / 55th / Flatirons Office Park, and it was a welcome relief to find something new of good quality within walking distance. The coffee shop shares space with a tire shop / eco-friendly garage, however the overall ambience was clean, bright and airy, and despite what you'd think about ordering coffee next to a Michelin tire display, I did not notice that thick grease/rubber smell you'd expect, and there was no associated shop noise from the garage. I ordered a house cappuccino since that's usually a good starting spot for me to judge quality. It was well presented with just the right level of foam, and the shot was well balanced, bright and flavorful. The barista was efficient and personable. They have free / open wi-fi, which IMO is an absolute necessity in the mobile service provider blackhole that is the north 55th / Pearl / Valmont area. Miles Davis was on the sound system and the car guys had some species of Euro / Continental league soccer playing on the flat panel across the way, but despite this, the atmosphere was really very quiet and relaxing. The decor strikes a nice balance between contemporary minimalism and Boulder chic, with mainly stark white walls and exposed grid ceiling, a smattering of tastefully chosen plants, mission style wood counter fronts, Euro-modern cafe seating, and sealed concrete flooring. They do have outdoor "patio" seating but it's essentially an asphalt parking lot with little shade available. I didn't see much, if any, bike parking or a rack available, but they've only been open a couple of months. Last but not least I picked up a to-go cup of what turned out to be the most delicious chicken / green chile soup I've had in Boulder. Well done guys. Access to this place would potentially be a little fraught with a car owing to the post office being literally right next door, and the wildly inconvenient access layout of that whole Pearl East / 55th St junction cluster in general, but that's not exactly the shop's fault and it's simple enough to get there from the 55th/Valmont side which is probably their main audience. I rarely drive anyway and would either walk from my office or stop by on my bike. It's extremely convenient to the south terminus / loop of the Boulder Creek Path, too, so I foresee taking the "long way" to work via the bike path to stop in for an early cuppa. read more

You don't have to do much to feel like an oasis in this neighborhood, but Laughing Goat goes above and beyond to be something I'm actually excited to have around. This is literally the only place I can walk to (reasonably) from work that has any vegan food. Meal options are minimal, but almond milk drinks, amazing homemade raw coconut cookie things, friendly and accommodating staff all add up to a big thumbs up. I love the laughing goat. The original is two blocks from the house, it is my go-to coffee shop. I love my almond milk lattes, when a lot of places are content with just soy or rice milk (ick). The new location is a tad out of the way for people downtown, but the location is ideal if you've been running errands in east boulder. There are usually plenty of tables even in a high study time like Sunday afternoon during the school year. I personally like the little study bar with lots of plugs, past the green garage's counters. So a few months ago I happened into Laughing Goat for a Chai. It was great. The woman in front of me ordered a breakfast sandwich and I though that I'd try one too. I was hooked. I brought them into work and my co-workers were also fans of the breakfast sandwich. Today we all thought it was breakfast sandwich weather. We sent our assistant to get three sandwiches. When she came back we looked in the bag and found ....?burritos? I went online to get a number to call them (this is where is starts to get really annoying) and there's no number. All I'd like to do is call and ask them to re-make our order. I am left to contact them by e-mail, Twitter (which I have done with ho response from them) and Facebook. So, we send her back. Yes, it keeps getting worse. She calls to let me know that they knew that we had ordered sandwiches but that they were out, so they decided "to give us burritos" without even telling her that they were substituting them in the order. The barista proceeds to tell us that she only gets five sandwiches a day and tat they "just give out burritos when they run out." When we protest and say that we ordered sandwiches, in stead of apologizing, she says if we want sandwiches, we can order lunch. No apologies offered no way to communicate if there's an issue without social media, so here we are. We took them and left. They're not nearly as good as the sandwiches and we will not ever order them again (on purpose at least). I'd rather Santiago's or a Big City Burrito if I'm having that craving. I've read several reviews about less than warm baristas and I've also had a few bungled orders there. Once, I bought a pound of coffee and still got charged for my "complimentary cup with a pound of coffee" . When I said something, I was given a yellow sticky with "free cup of coffee" written by the barista on the back of it. She was pretty put out that I said something, but I chalked it up to a bad morning and moved on. I'm a big fan of Laughing Goat in general. Their Pearl Street location is really nice. But when you don't feel like dealing with the Pearl Street crowd. The shared space with Green Garage is very hip and modern and environmentally friendly. Or at least you think so with the vibe the put out.
