This little grocery store slash food counter is fun to visit. Prepared food (3.7 stars) They do have some items like baklava, spinach and meat pastries in little trays to purchase with your groceries. They are yummy but that usually happens at checkout because we're hungry. Prior to shopping in the grocery section we go up to the food counter and place a "to go" order. We've tried the chicken and beef shawarma, falafel sandwich, kabaab plate, baba ghanouge, hummus, and mutabbal eggplant. Favorite being falafel sandwich and mutabbal eggplant but that is not to say the other items aren't good too. The food portion and ingredients are somewhat inconsistent but enough to bother us. Grocery (3.9) When we need spices but don't feel like driving out to Aqua Vita we come here as it is a stone throw away. Everything from mango power to cumin to premixed seasonings like garam and sambar masala. Good selection of pickled veggies, grains and rice, oils (including grape seed) and more. As I'm more of a loose leaf tea person (oolongs preferred) I was pleasantly surprised to find that I like cardamom tea, at the owner's suggestion. They also have halloumi which you can grill and tastes delicious with mushrooms. A few days ago picked up some fresh yellow dates from their produce section too which you don't see too often. I just had bought lunch here. Apparently they just opened their deli. OMG my first time eating this type cuisine. Totally delish and fresh and so cheap. Get the kabob platter and chicken swarma sammy. Yummo!!! And got a lychee drink and fresh made pita bread there. read more

I'm not sure if they've had a change in owners, but they now have a full food take-away at the back. I tried the falafel, and it's good! The groceries are the usual mix of mideast staples at moderate prices. I've noticed more than one item being sold past the expiration date, so I prefer other middle east markets. The sell warm injera and other home made arab bread. They certainly have a big selection for the mid town area. read more

We were visiting Tucson for the Gem Show and chanced upon Babylon Market. We were pleasantly surprised as to how well stocked the grocery store was and how knowledgeable the staff was. They also have a nice selection of food for take out but also some benches outdoor where you can sit down and eat (weather permitting ofcourse). We had the shwarma's (chicken and beef) and both were excellent. We also had the kibbi and that was very flavorful as well. Hussein made us feel like family with excellent service. We will surely visit this place whenever we get to Tucson. read more

My grand-daughter introduced us to Babylon Market. As a Middle Eastern Market they have everything you would want and their prices are very reasonable. They have a kitchen in the back that makes GREAT Falafel, their sauces are supreme, the rice is as sweet as can be. You cannot go wrong! read more

Today I visited Babylon Market as I am a Muslim and was looking for a Halal Restaurant with continental taste as I am from Pakistan. living in USA for almost 16 days and not getting continental halal dishes, I went there after looking address and review on Yelp. The experience was great. I could find all kind of halal groceries at reasonable prices. Now, let's talk about restaurant food. A small place at one side of the store delivers good food and best thing about it are food rates, which are reasonable. There are few benches outside in open where you can sit and have food or else take away. Owned by people from Iraq, specially Mr Kamal who was at the counter of restaurant was very friendly, forthcoming and cooperative. I would highly recommend this store for Halal and Continental food in Tucson, AZ USA. Also recommended for Halal groceries. read more

The beef shawarma was very good. The chicken shawarma not so much. If you decide to eat outside, check the bench before sitting on it. Unless it has rained in Tucson recently, the one on the left has sticky fruit juice on it. read more

Great store, very clean and neat plus their staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a large verity of products and its very fun to walk there and realize these items. Restaurant's food is Awesome. I almost go every other day just to buy their Kabsa and Humus, everything is hand-made and you can tell they use high quality products. Stopped to explore the market and ended up walking out with two kibbee and some potato filled bread fresh off the bakery truck. I would be cautious when buying off the shelf items as many of them were well past their "best By" date but the baked breads remind me of my time in Iran and I left wanting to toss a flat loaf into a stone oven with some pebbles to weight it down! The kibbee looked wonderful when I got it but was very different than the traditional Lebanese kibbee I've always had at home or in other places. It had a cracked wheat shell over a very fine ground beef interior that fell apart when bitten into. It was very peppery but will do the job if I have a bad craving. I want to try the Iraqi version next time. I will go back. read more

I have to say I am impressed!! I was nervous about coming to Babylon Market when my boyfriend suggested it the other day because as much as I love food I am a hard person to get to try new things. But from the moment we stepped up to the little counter and we met the staff member I knew this place was going to be amazing! I have tried shish kebabs before but that was the extent of my training in this type of food and the man behind the counter was supportive in my new adventures by giving free samples of everything on the menu. We tried the falafel, baba ganoush, fresh hummus and pretty much everything else on the menu and it was pretty amazing! We ended up getting the falafel, shwarma (chicken and beef) and a thing of their hummus. It was all amazingly tasty and fresh. This quite possibly is the best hummus I have ever tasted! Plus when we left the man behind the counter came outside and brought us some pretty tasty baklava. This place is an A+ in my book! read more

INCREDIBLE shawarma. Tried it here for the first time ever and was not disappointed. My boyfriend, who has eaten great shawarma in the past, absolutely loved it. We live about 10 minutes from this market and almost drove all the way back there the second we finished our meal because we both wanted more. I've been striking out at finding truly sensational Indian/Middle Eastern cuisine in the area, so I am MOST grateful for Tucson Lifestyle Magazine's recent coverage on this snazzy little desert oasis. I often pass the Babylon Market, easy access on Speedway Blvd. and plenty of parking, but only went in today - as I was unsure if I needed membership, a secret code, or insider information to enter. I needed none - and was welcomed with a smile and allowed to shop as long as I needed to in order to familiarize myself with the versatile selection of products. There is an amazing selection of treats - candies and cookies, teas and coffees, and a fantastic selection of fresh, frozen, canned, and bottled items I have found in no other local chain grocery store. Suffice to say, a bottled chicken vindaloo sauce, a new hummus, some baklava, and a heavenly candy bar of unknown origin made for a better meal than some of the local ethnic restaurants on the Tucson beat - and at an unbeatable price. read more

Great food for a great price. I always order their beef shawarmas or the kabab sandwich. Love their hummus and Baba Ghanouge. The kabsa plate is also really good, even though typically I'm not too big of a fan of lamb shanks. And it comes with an incredible amount of food, you could feed 2 people with that plate. They also have baklava which tastes pretty good, but I haven't had too much experience eating baklava so I can't judge it that much. read more
