    Short Pappardelle with Burrata Cheese
    Sandra G.

Bacchus is a cool neighborhood restaurant that deserves to be supported. Started off with the appetizer stuffed chiles piquillos and bread plate. Chiles were flavorful and bread portion was pretty generous. For main dishes ordered pork chop dish and short bolognese pappardelle pasta dish with burrata cheese. Both were served hot and timely and did not disappoint. Server Emerson was attentive and personal which enhanced dining experience. Some items on menu may have periodic changes as is seasonal ....so you know ingredients are fresh. Ambience is very cool, and at the time Billie Holiday playing in the background. Added perk is that during Happy Hour (5:00-6:00) 10% off entire FOOD MENU Plan on returning and would recommend supporting this local eatery.

Great place for a glass of wine and a bite to eat on a Friday night ( or any night I guess ) we live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to try it Service was great , friendly and knowledgeable . The salad was simple but so refreshing, the stuffed peppers great and loved the pasta - my husband and I shared all 3. It is an eclectic menu but we enjoyed the vibe and a place that has created their own little niche We will be back . Great wine selection We got a happy hour selection and it was great

really wanted to like this place, but honestly, it just wasn't good. The service was slow and inattentive -- we waited way too long for everything, and our server barely checked on us. The duck taquitos were bad -- dry, flavorless, and almost cold. The steak came out lukewarm, the potato gratin was dry and tough, and the gnocchi was heavy and mushy. Everything looked fancy, but the taste just didn't match the presentation.Chesse platter was below average. The Cabernet Sauvignon was actually great -- smooth and full-bodied -- but sadly, that was the best part of the night. Beautiful patio, nice atmosphere... but with bad service and disappointing food, I just can't give more than 2 1/2 stars.

I was so excited to try this place! The wine selection wasn't my favorite. We tried the Nebbiolo and the Carricante which tasted really sour. The tapas plate so much lacked flavor. The gnocchi was oily and sparse. The shrimp and grits had an impressive flavor profile but it was too salty so we ordered bread on the side. (There were only three pieces of shrimp by the way). Bread was soft and fresh. Overall the quality of food was inconsistent but I added a star because our server was sweet. The interior was also industrial and romantic. You can tell their was thought into the layout and atmosphere.

We drove around Pasadena on a Thursday night and randomly found ourselves at Bacchus. It's converted from a HIIT studio that I used to go to, high ceilings, plenty of seating, and also has an outdoor patio! The wine selection is broad and inexpensive, the pour is generous. We also learned that they have live music on Friday nights which we would love to check out one of these days.

I've been here a few times. The wine selection is small but has good options in every section. The food is delicious. The service is hit or miss, they are always friendly but don't come by often.

Waiter Manuel. This…read moreis a review reflected on you, solely. Being kind is the moral of the story, from the beginning you were passive agressive with your comments and tone. Being in a party of 4 girls coming from high tea, we were dressed in elegant dresses, first comment was asking if we were coming from church, followed by eye flutters, short "okay" with an upward inflation to a joke about the day, an impatient comment about hurrying up and trying the wine while we were talking, asked for water when we were out, were left to pour the rest of our wine, didn't ask how the food was all the while was attentive to the table behind us, the cherry on top comment was when we were discussing the bill at the end, he was hovering at the table behind ours, then when we were ready, we asked to split the bill into 2, my portion on mine and the rest on another card, he then said "this isn't like a drive through, we can't do it that way" so I asked him to explain his comment, cause it was passive agressive and rude. After he wasnt able to becuase he wasnt expecting me to call out his rude comment, I had to then break it down and specify what I had ordered, he then sold "okayyyy....so how much, cause we don't itemize?" I had to again express for him to specify how they do it cause he has still yet to explain where his attitude is coming from and explain how they do their check splits, from my understanding it just felt like he wanted to play dumb and make me to the math, one I did he was like "ohh, okay" should have asked for the manager but we paid and left, I hasnt had this experience before being a returning customer, but he needs an attitude adjustment as his attitude was completely out of pocket. Do better Manuel, you alone got your place of work a 1 star. The rest of the staff was kind, facility beautiful and food and wine was good. This restaurant is not reflected in the 1 star.

This bar is tucked inside Vroman's Bookstore (already one of the most charming and iconic bookstores in the area) so the entire experience feels like stepping into a warm, literary universe. You can browse for a new book, take in the bookstore's atmosphere, and then walk straight into the bar. Honestly, it's the perfect outing. What makes 1894 truly special is how intentionally it celebrates literature. Everything in the bar pays homage to the bookstore. The drink menu is full of clever, book-inspired names. You'll find cocktails like Pride and PearJudice Pride, Fifty Shades of Earl Grey, and other fun literary twists. Every drink feels like a little wink to readers, writers, and book lovers, and it adds such a unique charm to the experience. The vibe is super quaint and warm, dim lighting, and a creative atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. The wine is on the pricier side ($19-$21 per glass), but the quality delivers. Customer service was excellent. One of the bartenders spent time chatting with us. He pointed out a chalk artwork behind the bar a dramatic portrait he drew himself featuring expressive, literary-style faces, like Edgar Allan Poe, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, etc. It fits perfectly with the creative, bookish aesthetic of the bar. If you're into books, wine, and unique experiences, 1894 is a spot you absolutely can't miss. Perfect for a date, a solo unwind-with-a-book moment, or a fun night with friends who appreciate a good story and a great drink.

Our waiter was incredibly passive and at times it felt like we were being completely ignored. He would attend to tables around us but never checked in with us, had what seemed like a limited knowledge of the menu, and offered a half assed apology at the end of the night. The table next to us was clearly someone of importance, because they kept getting "gifted" foods, cheeses, drinks, etc. - which is fine, but only magnified our poor service. We also saw our food and beverages as well as other tables food and beverages be delivered to the wrong tables. My fiances sorbet was given to the special table next to us, but they had already had their dessert, and so the wait staff left with it and a minute later delivered it to our table melted. There was one staff member that was wonderful, and it seemed like he was a busboy who was filling in for our waiter (sorry I did not get his name) but he was very kind, personable, and would be the reason we come back, aside from the great food. There was also no acknowledgement of the special occasion we were celebrating, which is a minor thing but at other restaurants it's usually never missed and helps make for a nice experience especially when we mark that we are here celebrating an anniversary. All in all it was a disappointing experience. We may return for the food in the future, because it was excellent, but the service needs to be worked on.
