Bacchus Wood-Fired is absolutely delicious! My favorite aspect of this place has to be the atmosphere and ambiance. The pizza oven creates such a fun vibe, and the ambient lighting enhances the whole experience. We started with their garlic bread, and it was divine - freshly baked bread with gooey mozzarella inside. Just thinking about it now is making my stomach growl haha I tried the Bacchus Pizza Margherita, The Ambustus, and the Cheese Trigeminious, and they were all incredible. My top picks were definitely the Ambustus and the Cheese Trigeminious. The personal-sized pizzas are just the right portion, but you can also opt for a larger size for a slightly higher price, perfect for a tasty lunch the next day! I'm already planning my next visit to try their Shrimp Pesto Pizza and the Hercules Pasta. Plus, they have a fantastic deal on Mondays - a beer and a personal-sized pizza for only $10. Count me in for next Monday! ;)

Had a nice night out after the holidays. Side salad, garlic bread, mild wings, a large pepperoni pizza and a personal three cheese pizza. Everything was timed perfect. The food was hot and fresh. We did not feel rushed, the temperature inside was very warm considering it's so cold outside, and the server Sara was extremely attentive. Looking forward to adding this to our regular pizza lineup!

Great spot for wood fired pizza and pasta! I went on a Tuesday evening and was sat immediately. We started with the roasted garlic bulb and wood fired garlic parm wings. Both were fantastic! For entrees, we ordered the Mozza'Bella pizza and Spaghetti and meatballs with their red pepper cream sauce. The pizza was perfectly cooked. It was topped with meatballs, mozzarella, spinach, and garlic with a red sauce. I can't recommend it enough! The pasta was also delicious and the sauce was great. Overall, it's a great spot in Troy for fantastic wood fired pizza and pasta. We also enjoyed their craft beer offerings -- there were more than a dozen to choose from.

I was in Troy a few weeks and did not double dip eating at one spot except for Bacchus. Their wood fired pizza was amazing, especially paired with a decent wine menu. I frequented two Thursday nights and the place was very relaxing and chill. Good menu to make your own pizza or pasta. I had the ambustus, nice and spicy. Overall great experience. My server Asia was amazing and very attentive/charming. I would go back to Bacchus again if I am in the area, recommended.

I had such a wonderful time at Bacchus! Located in a basement, this intimate and dimly lit bar/restaurant feels like you've temporarily left reality. The interior is really cool, and if you look carefully you'll find what looks like an old wine cellar turned into an intimate seating for four. Beyond this, there is a bar area, an additional indoor eating area, and outdoor seating- plenty of space for groups small and large. Importantly, the pizzas were delicious! A scrumptious wood fired pizza with a variety of toppings, including a create your own option! Most pizzas have a personal size or sharing size option (brunch pizzas are personal size, but still shareable if you get more than one). We ordered the "Dear Dana" and "Pan's Labyrinth" pizzas. Both were fantastic but the Pan's Labyrinth really hit home for me- the balsamic drizzle really added a nice and flavorful contrast to the pizza. Finally, our server was very nice, and when we asked about dessert, she recommended this amazing dessert bread, which featured pizza dough, Nutella, marshmallow fluff, and whipped cream sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs. Delicious! All in all I thought this was a really cool place with tasty pizzas, and I can't wait to try more.

Here is a margherita, broccoli, and shrimp pesto pizza. No sauce on the red and white pizzas and uncooked shrimp on the other

Ordered multiple pizzas. Two came with no sauce (one should have been a white pizza). Margherita pizza with no sauce? Ridiculous. Instead, they put whole tomatoes on top. Lazy and cheap. Never had pesto that tastes sweet, and hope to never have it again. Not sure how the hell you screw that up. The attached photo is of three different types of pizza.

Imagine a world where every single bite of pasta includes a flavor burst of perfection with mind blowing sauce plus noodle plus meat in every bite. Order the hercules and this world could be yours. Pair with DAOU wine and you might just never leave. Nothing can compare to this meal of italian in such an ambiance with the KINDEST of service. Jim gave us a tour of the place right when we got there to see their incredible wood fire oven that's been hot for 17 years. Our serve Aly was amazing and so helpful!! 1000/10 recommend

As far as pizza in Troy goes, Bacchus is by far the best. Good, simple ingredients that are prepared well. My go-to for pizza in the area.

And that ranking is well deserved. You get a strong familial feel walking into DeFazio's. If you're lucky enough to meet the Boss himself (he will actually be wearing a shirt that says "Boss"), he will give you a history lesson on the pizzeria, his family, and the state of pizz-ology Nationwide. He proudly proclaims that he is still The Sauce Guy around these parts because he has to keep up the quality control. There's something special about eating at a restaurant where the owner cares that much about the product, and they want you to as well. I encourage you to take the plunge and order the General Tso's pizza. It sounds insane, I know. But if you grew up eating this stuff, it will take you back to a time where you were traversing a mall food court and eating free samples (funny enough, that was the inspiration for this pizza). A lot of chicken-based pizzas will have red sauce as a base, but this is actually replaced with the Tso's special blend which has a beautiful sweet-heat to it. If you're coming here for the first time, it's nice to also balance a pizza like that out with a classic. Maybe a cheese or something similar. That way you can try out the red sauce and cheese in its purest form. I had the pleasure of walking through a cheese packing session that was going on in the restaurant, so I got to see that raw mozz up close, maybe 20 pounds of it. At that moment, I felt as though I was approaching enlightenment. When fully melted on that 'za, this cheese has the ideal mix of density and squish. DeFazio's has a special place in my heart. Your time here will make you feel like you are in a pizza sitcom. And you will leave with a feeling that you may have just had some of the best pizza of your life.

I haven't been to this original location on 4th St. in Troy for a few years. The family operation is nearly 100 years old. Remarkably, it's very much as I remember it. A tiny place with three tables. Some of the seating looks like repurposed church pews. The youthful staff, friendly as always. They were running into some delays as orders came pouring in just before dinnertime. They'd have to check to see if they could fit our order for a big pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and peppers. They squeezed us in! Since the wait would be between 20-30 minutes we kept ourselves busy by checking out the desserts in the self serve refrigerator. I picked out a slice of "hangover" (alcohol) cake and I devoured it before our meal arrived. It was so delicious and naughty fun to eat our dessert before the meal. The pizza was fantastic when it arrived. I prefer crisp crusts-- this one was not-- but it was awesome just the same. My friend and I were so hungry that we consumed half of the pie before I realized that we hadn't photographed our delicious pizza. The remaining half was boxed and taken home to be enjoyed for a couple more days. The staff was so ready. They came to our table with the box and we settled up our bill. A lot to be said for tradition and quality. I've also visited DeFazio's in Albany, but I have yet to visit the relatively new restaurant up the block. Thanks, DeFazio's, for another great meal.

Rosanna's -- A Genuine Gem That Deserves Every Star There…read moreare restaurants you visit and forget, and then there are restaurants that stay with you long after the last bite. Rosanna's is firmly in the second category -- and after an exceptional dinner that left both of us completely satisfied and already planning our return visit, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. From the moment we walked in, the ambience set the tone for the entire evening. Warm, inviting and thoughtfully designed, Rosanna's strikes that rare balance between intimate and lively -- the kind of space that feels equally suited for a romantic dinner for two or a celebratory night out with people you love. The lighting is soft without being dim, the energy is buzzing without being overwhelming, and every detail of the room communicates that this is a place that genuinely cares about the experience it creates for its guests. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu -- not in a rehearsed, corporate way but in the way that only happens when staff actually love where they work and believe in what they're serving. Questions were answered with confidence and warmth, dietary considerations were handled graciously and without any fuss, and the pacing of the meal felt exactly right. Not rushed, not forgotten -- just perfectly timed. It is the kind of service that makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another table to turn over. Now the food -- where do we even begin. We started with the Shrimp Balls and they were an immediate knockout. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented and gone far too quickly. The arugula dip alongside them was bright and fresh -- a genuinely clever pairing that elevated what could have been a simple appetizer into something memorable. This dish alone would be worth coming back for. For mains we ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto -- elevated with a grilled shrimp skewer addition that turned an already outstanding dish into a complete and deeply satisfying meal. The risotto was everything a great risotto should be -- creamy without being heavy, deeply savory with layers of earthy mushroom flavor, finished beautifully with truffled pecorino that added just the right amount of richness. The shrimp skewer on top was perfectly grilled, plump and fresh -- a brilliant pairing with the earthiness of the mushrooms. Our dining companion ordered the Boneless Beef Short Ribs which arrived tender, deeply flavorful and beautifully plated -- the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. What makes Rosanna's truly special is that everything works together -- the room, the service, the food and the overall feeling of being genuinely well taken care of. This is not a restaurant that relies on one strong element to carry the others. Every component earns its place. Whether you are celebrating something special, treating someone you love or simply in search of a great dinner in wonderful company -- Rosanna's delivers on every level. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. You will not regret it. And the pellegrino soda was great I got the blood orange! And we took the olive oil orange cake to go yum!

The cuisine was Italian inspired, and heavy on vegan and gluten free option, which is a great find locally, if you're looking for that. We were sat upstairs and I enjoy the ambiance here. I will note that the chairs are uncomfortable, which does not make a cozy dining experience. The cocktail menu was really great, a lot of gin options which is right up my alley. I had the Corpse Reviver and a glass of wine, both were great. We started with the shrimp balls, which sounded intriguing. They ended up being delightful, almost like loose crab cakes. The flavors were great and I loved the pesto. For my entree, I opted for the lemon mushroom tagliatelle. The pasta was very fresh and chewy, loved that. I enjoyed the combination of lemon and mushroom on the dish, but there were so many different mushrooms of all different textures, that some bites were more enjoyable than others. The snapper puttanesca was gorgeous as well. Overall it was a good meal, but I might have liked it a little more before the change. Definitely a great option if you are looking for dietary restrictions.

It was mostly empty at 530 on a Friday night, service was fine but it seemed to be just one woman. We started off with wine and I was pleasantly surprised at the pour. We decided to start with the arancini. They were as expected, a creamy and cheesy risotto, breaded and fried. They were a little bland, and the sauce was very spicy, which we were not expecting, but was fine. The bread brought to the table was very crusty, maybe stale, the pesto dip was nice and the cute "A" in the balsamic was a nice touch. We then moved onto our entrees which were great portions. I ordered the Veal Francese. It costs an extra $5 to put this over pasta, for a $25 dish. So to my understanding, this dish is $25 for a piece of veal in a sauce and a half a cup of zucchini ... that doesn't make sense. Just include the pasta in the price. But, the pasta was great. You could tell it was made in house and had a great texture. The sauce was a thickened lemon/wine/butter sauce. The flavor was great but it was a little goopy. It was thickened with something like cornstarch as opposed to being reduced. There are many notes here, but it was a perfectly fine dish. I took half of it home and enjoyed it later after the show. My friend ordered the sorrentina, which was chicken and eggplant. She loved the dish and it was enormous, I did not sample it but it looked great. This is just a run of the mill average Italian spot. The parm cheese offered for the dishes was a flavorless shaker brought to the table. If you're looking to be impressed, maybe not the best spot, but if you're looking for a quiet dinner to catch up with a friend, why not!
