The FRIDAY NIGHT FOODIES were out tonight at the newly opened ZOTTO'S THE PINE. Here is our review... LOCATION - 3.5...very easy to get to, although parking was awful, probably due to the fact that the place was mobbed. AMBIANCE - 3.0...typical look for a neighborhood Italian restaurant, nothing special, but really nice bar area. FOOD - 3.5...we all enjoyed our meals, especially my Chicken Parmigiana. The marinara sauce was excellent, not too tart, not too sweet, just right. PRICE - 4.0...everything was priced very fairly. We were especially surprised that one of our meals came with garlic bread. SERVICE - 5.0...our server Megan did a great job. OVERALL SCORE - 4.0 We definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be back. read more

It was the first time we ordered from The Pine and it'll be our last. Out of the 7 items we ordered we enjoyed only 2. Eggplant Parm Sandwich - Very dry, eggplant over fried, little to no sauce and mozzarella. Roast beef club- Roast beef was tough and dry and was grizzly. Caesar chicken salad - A Caesar salad is just lettuce, parmigiana cheese and dressing. This salad had cucumbers and soggy croutons. The chicken was dry and salty. Chicken tenders - Ordered mild chicken tenders. Chicken was dry. French Fries - They were good. Onion Rings - They were over cooked. Too crunchy and dry. Chicken wings - They were good. I  remember the good ol days when the popular Notty Pine was on 15th Street, crawling distance from the RPI campus. My family enjoyed their pizzas, wings, club sandwich plates, pasta dinners, and frosty libations.  The Pine is back again, in Brunswick in the former Two Brothers Restaurant & Bar. Like Notty Pine (established in 1946), The Pine is owned by the Zotto family and I can remember the Grand Dad served as the longtime athletic director at Troy High School close to three decades ago. Go Flying Horses!!! I stopped by The Pine for dinner on a busy Friday night. The parking lot was very full but I found a small spot before the upper overflow parking lot. I entered through the left bar entrance and the bar was packed with customers. I decided to be seated in the right side dining room as the staff was cleaning off tables. I was given food and drink menus after I was seated. It took a while for a server to take my order after being seated as the hostess looked over several times. As I was about to order food, I was informed that they ran out of some menu items including no pizza, which was actually my first choice for a starter. I instead started out with a bowl of Pasta Fagioli ($5) which had plenty of al dente shell pasta , cannelloni beans, seasoning in a thick tomato broth. I was also given a basket of buttered bread. For dinner, the Chicken Parm with Spaghetti ($16) was a right sized portion of a deep fried breaded chicken cutlet topped with melted mozzarella cheese and homemade thick tomato sauce with a side of thin soft cooked spaghetti. The dish itself was very hearty and filling to eat. I did need a box for half the food to bring home. The check came out $23.59 including 4 percent surcharge on each menu item and then 8 percent meals tax on top of that. I think the reasoning of the surcharges is probably for credit card customers and they're also using the Clover check system which has been a junk system at other restaurants compared to restaurants using Toast. Some restaurants add a credit card surcharge to the check or give cash discounts. I paid cash on this visit and I'll let the server keep the $1 difference. If that is the case, then they really need to show two different totals on the checks, one for credit cards and the other for cash as some other restaurants already show both totals and the differences. I plan to order pizza on the next visit, but I'll make sure to get here early. read more

Excellent service, fast ordering and kitchen. The Lasagna was soooo gooood. The Calamari was nice and crisp and tender, not rubbery. And the sauce is made every morning and you can tell by the chunks of tomato that it's fresh-made. read more

Ok, so the owners used to own an popular watering hole that made tasty and affordable pizza in Troy near RPI for years. The Notty Pine was one of those dark, old neighborhood favorites where "everybody knows your name" and a college student with the munchies or a long night of studying ahead could order a pizza. The rumor is, after selling to Amate's pizza, the owners just couldn't hack retirement so they bought what was Two Brothers Pizza and opened "Zotto's The Pine". Again, with much anticipation, they have opened with a well stocked bar, big TV's and their famous pizza. However, it all ends there. This is Brunswick, folks - home of farmers, families and Hoosick Street. First let me start with the atmosphere- the entrance is a double door in the middle of the front so as you enter there is a choice of left or right. We were all hoping when one enters to the left where the bar is, they would have changed what Two Brothers had - the off putting awkwardness of being thrust smack into people at the bar, who have no problem rubbernecking while you're waiting, uncomfortably highlighted, for your take out order. But unfortunately it has not. (For God's sake put a bench with some ficus trees or a hostess podium so you don't feel like the next act for the bar patrons to lengthily gawk at). The same goes for when you enter the "dining area" to the right. It's like, "Whoa, hello lady how's that salad?" as you are eyeball to eyeball. It's just an odd feeling not to have some kind of buffer. This is the main dining area, and it is not cozy or private in anyway - there are no dividers and the tables are very close. Plus, you have to fetch someone to help you. It may sound a bit unfair because they have not been open for very long so maybe atmosphere is just something down the road they'll address... I hope. Second - lack of specials. This is the Brunswick burbs, so where is the quick pizza-wings-soda deal at? Your clientele are the families coming from school, picking up and dropping off at things like baseball, taekwondo etc. - Hoosick Street now has fast-food galore but many want to feed the ENTIRE family quick, good and reasonable. Tommy's pizza has it. Inconsistent, but convenient. I Love NY pizza nails it but a little too far into the Hoosick Street madness. The Pine's would be perfect. Example: I wanted to order for my friend's family a super yummy Notty Pine pizza and the gal who answered the phone when I asked about a pizza and wing special just emphatically answered that they don't have one. She wasn't sorry about it either (her Troy was showing). The menu online offers ala carte, where they nickel and dime you for blue cheese and veggies (total pet peeve), with no easy way to click to order and pay, then, very unhelpful phone staff. Oh Zotto's hopefully you'll get with it soon, because I really missed your pizza, a lot. read more

First time at this restaurant and there were something's that were good and not so good. Two people in our party ordered coffee, both cups of coffee were cold, not even warm. And then some of the creamers was curdled. Not the best start. Some ordered the soup chicken tortilla soup, this was very good but the greens and beans were bland. The pecan salad was very good and the sweet potato fries were good with the creamy horseradish sauce. Someone ordered a chicken sandwich with pesto and a meatball sub. Both were good but a little on the dry side. Sub needed extra sauce. The table next to us ordered a Turkey club which looked great and their pizza's looked good too. Staff was great, courteous, and friendly. As former owners of the Knotty Pine I guess I expected more, but it was just OK. I would try this place again and maybe get the pizza or Turkey club. read more

Wings were good. Chicken Parm dinner my wife was very happy with. French dip sandwich wasn't too bad. Wish it was on a French style bread. Rolls make it to soggy. Otherwise it wasn't bad. Very pricey place. Service was good. Need to have a better place for waitress to hang out tho. read more

Not impressed with service at all . Went for lunch with a small group of four waited at the door for over 5 minutes before being acknowledged by anyone and asked if we were waiting for anyone I replied no , just waiting for a table. Listing all the "lunch specials without any prices to start ...After being seated and given our order, that was the last we saw of the waitress at our table several times walked by never once acknowledging our empty drinks. Asked for honey mustard with wrap (additional charge ) and had to ask agian for it . Also no dressing on my sandwich at all .. "it's Monday "is not a excuse for poor service ! read more

My husband & I sat at the bar tonight for dinner & drinks. The food was delicious! The bartenders were great! The let down happened when 2 guys part of a group of patrons (young adults) including the owners son (he told us who he was) were vaping at the bar and it felt like we weren't at a bar/restaurant that had standards. The young adults definitely behaved as 20 something's would & were having a good time. Perhaps, I'm wrong about the type of patrons they are looking to attract but it isn't the kind of place my husband & I would go to again. read more

First off..where a jacket when you get in the place very cold.. When you walk in the door there is no hostess or sign to take a seat so we walked to the back of the dining room where we were met by a waitress waiting for one of her orders, where she instructed us to take any seat we wanted. The waitress did not smile at all while serving us or let us know what the soup of the day was or any recommendations for an appetizer. We ordered a LARGE pizza for $24.00 on the menu. Not once did she say its an 8 cut rectangle pizza.. (8 cut for a large mind you) when we received it we were in shock.. It was a small 8x14 size 8 cut rectangle THIN pizza.. The crust was NOT hand made and it was served on a cold Walmart cookie sheet.. I questioned the size and 8 cut for a LARGE..she said yup and walked away.. The water is very chlorinated and not filtered even with lemon the taste was over flavored by chlorine. I ordered a bowl of pasta fagioli soup where it was $5.00 on the menu but was charged $5.20 on the bill and then taxed again. Will not be going back..preformed way below our expectations read more

before i talk about the food, the service was really good & so were the drinks... but this was literally paying 45 dollars for a tiny pizza and nachos that were honestly cafeteria food quality. the sauce was very clearly from a can, the pizza crust was just like chuck e. cheese... the nachos were very boring. cheap bland cheese with honestly gross chicken ( which there was less than a handful) wouldn't recommend lol ( my girlfriend says the food isn't the same as the old restaurant ) read more

Not happy with their process of waiting for a table. We waited for 30 minutes when we.were told 10-15 min wait. We gave our name and waited as we started to see people get seated that came in after us. I approached the staff and said that we came in after x person and was told that someone took our table. I asked what we were going to do about it and was advised that another table would open up in 30 mins. Instead of saying we would be the next person on the list we were moved to the bottom of the list. They can keep their food. To many other places to eat at. read more

Horrible Service First off you walk in...there's no reception or hostess...it's all the way in the back of the restaraunt...we stood there for 10-15 minutes...waiting for a hostess or waitress or even the bartender who was 6' away to even acknowledge us...several times I made eye contact with her...completely ignored me...waitresses came and went...even the cooks looked out and saw us standing there...finally another guest who was sitting on the window sill...b/c there's no place for people to wait...told me you have to go get someone or else you'll be waiting forever...so I had to walk to a waitress and ask them if they was a hostess...as soon as I started walking back to talk to a waitress all of a sudden I have their attention and she's overly quick to cut me off and ask my name and tell me there's a 10-15 minute wait...so i go back to the front to continue to wait...after a few more minutes of waiting...the bartender finally asks if she could help me...as if she hadn't seen me before...she obviously saw me go back and talk the waitress and walk back b/c it's all past the bar...really....then there's the prices...top end prices for bar food...that's nothing special...avg for any descent restaurant...certainly not worth the service and if that wasn't enough...they mixed up the order...by putting the sides on different orders...overall not worth parting my money with...as Troy has a lot of better places to eat. read more

First off wear a coat because like former Two Brothers is was cold. It got worse as people were coming in the dining room door verses the bar door. Food wasn't that great. Service wasn't that great...The waitress promised she would be right back and it was a long time before she did that. She said " I said I would be right back but didn't say when"! Wings were horrible and fatty. Pizza is VERY small for the price. You would have to order 2 for 4 people. Second visit I got the French dip. It was horrible. Very very dry and no taste on a pretty crappy bun. Don't think I will be going back. It is nothing like the former Knotty Pine Restaurant. read more
