Came by on a Monday night and got seated immediately as a walk-in. The highlights of our meal was surprisingly not the pasta, but the caesar salad that came with anchovies and the ricotta stuffed squash blossoms (I'm surprised they have this on the menu!!) that absolutely knocked it out of the park. I'll be long thinking of those. Beautiful natural lighting into the warm atmosphere (both indoor/outdoor seating available) with lovely service.

Such a cute place! I loved their decor and their outfits! Everyone was super friendly and my waitress was very attentive. The pasta was so so good and I loved the texture of the noodle. I would give them a 4.5 rather than a 5 because of the crudo, it was good but the passata was a bit too acidic, almost too much so to be palatable. I still really enjoyed the evening and they have amazing presentation. Highly recommend and would return. It's also fairly easy to find street parking for free which I always like. FANTASTIC drinks here too!

Really cute restaurant with a great vibe and a simple but well-curated menu, but the food was disappointing. The two pasta dishes we ordered were flavorless, the salad was just okay, and the focaccia was overly greasy and overpowered by rosemary. Basically, none of the dishes we ordered met even my basic expectations.

One half of the nice couple at the next table. Overall, a great-looking crowd.

Okay I gotta say I'm getting tired of giving 5 star reviews, but then i realize for these kinds of things (restaurants for special occasions) we get recommendations from our foodie kids and friends and they are seldom wrong. This place was recommended by my step-daughter, and it was fantastic. I asked for a cozy table for my wife's birthday, and we were seated in a nice little booth by the kitchen on a cold night in January. The dining room is gorgeous, with a lot of nice different areas. The couple next to us were also friendly, as a bonus. Everyone nearby seemed to be really enjoying their dining experience. My step-daughter made us promise to order the focaccia. We're not big bread eaters, but thank goodness we got this. I'm not even sure it's technically focaccia, but it's freakin' delicious! We also shared a radicchio salad, the campanelle pasta (all pastas are house-made) and the steak tartare. Okay, my wife's a vegetarian so I ate the whole tartare myself and it was amazing. I mean, truly perfect. The server was wonderful and recommended a perfect red for my meal (by the glass, the mrs. doesn't drink), and then we decided to have the affogato, which went by being delivered to the kitchen table and was one of the best we've ever had. So, 5 stars, no asterisk! Can't wait for another special occasion to go back.

Wow. This place is a well deserved 5 star Focaccia Ebraica - The best thing on the menu. An absolute must have. You can't get this anywhere else, it's popular for a reason. For pasta we got the Cavatelli, Rigatoni alla Carbonara, and the Malfadine. Every single one was delicious and creamy. It's beyond expectations. Service was fast and easy and the Ambiance is wonderful. It's the perfect dinner spot. I highly recommend to anyone who's a fan of Italian.

What a gem in Echo Park! Right off the bat this is a perfect place for a datenight. Great ambiance with modern decor and beautiful high vaulted ceiling. I was treating my friend out for her birthday on a thursday night. She recommended this place as she was here before. For drinks, bday girl got her favorite TWO-KISS SPRITZ and I got a glass of GLS Rocco di Carpeneto Afaja which was crisp and refreshing. The FOCACCIA EBRAICA with taggiasca olives, currants, rosemary, and sea salt was memorable. It looked like a cinnamon roll. Great to start with! Their seasonal KABOCHA SQUASH with pomegranates, balsamic drizzle, basil and hazelnuts was delicious! For mains, we got the MAFALDINE RAGU and BRANZINO. The mafaldine with the short rib ragu was "chef's kiss" - definitely a must-try! The branzino was good but underwhelming compared to the mafaldine . My friend raved about both dishes but I would skip on the branzino. The squash and the mafaldine were standouts in terms of flavor and texture that they both eclipsed the branzino. We were so full that we didn't order dessert. Chelsie was our waitress and she was nice, courteous, and attentive. Parking wasn't easy though. I lucked out on street parking nearby.

This review is specifically for the newly opened Bar Bacetti, which used to be Tilda. Bacetti is one of my favorite spots in Echo Park. It's in a gorgeous location on Echo Park Ave, and they constructed a beautiful outdoor setup during COVID, which has remained. The Bar next door is really romantic and intimate, with a handful of indoor tables in the front and a few more dramatically-styled tables in the back room. They have an aperitivo hour from 3-5p during the week in which you can get a snack with any drink. I opted for the stuffed peppers, which were a perfect complement to my uniquely crafted Aperol Spritz. The drink wasn't filled to the top, which was slightly off-putting due to the prices, but seeing other drinks come out from behind the bar, it seemed like that just might be their practice. As a second snack, I ordered the meatballs, which were fried and crazy tasty. They served a very generous portion, and it was so filling, I didn't need to order anything else. I will continue to frequent this spot, and will branch out to try different dishes and drinks in the future.

First they automatically add 20% tip to the bill. That would be perfectly acceptable if the service was warranted. It was not. We had multiple servers that did not know what occurred previously. The right hand did not know what the left hand was doing . We ordered a Aperol Spritz, and others have commented, it came half empty. When I inquired the waiter about it, he told me that's just how they came? Really then why is the glass full for other patrons with the exact same drink? Wait staff never came to check on us even with 2 servers. The front of house who picked up the phone was not friendly and borderline curt. The food was a disappointing. We ordered bread, salad and 2 pastas. The bread was interesting with currents and olive but was over powered by thyme. I would not order it again at $15. The Caesar Salad $18 and was smothered in dressing and large finger length of sardine fillets that were extremely salty. The Mafaldine was very mid. It's was palatable but had an odd sweetness to it. Unfortunately, the pesto was not palatable and left untouched by both of us after the first bite. Really earthy tasting and a bit bitter. I watched the hostess make people wait in the front while the place was empty and the wait staff just gathered around chit chatting. They would not let us order pizza since we were in the main dining area which I found very odd. We drove an hour to try this place and were extremely disappointed. April, the manager (only one that smiled) salvaged the experience. She was really friendly and attentive. We discussed and recommend restaurants to each other so my partner felt comfortable enough to let her know about our experience. She sent over the sticky toffee dessert to us on the house. Good manager but her staff must be very difficult to manage. Owner should really invest in better training especially if they are going to automatically charge patrons 20% tip

We went for dinner after watching the Dodgers game, and this place is very close to Dodger Stadium, which makes it convenient but parking can be a bit difficult. The restaurant's décor is stylish, definitely a hidden gem in Echo Park. Since it was Wednesday, they had a special menu: one pizza with a bottle of wine for $65, which we thought was a great deal. The pizza was indeed delicious, and the red wine we chose was surprisingly good in quality. We also ordered pasta. Personally, I felt the noodles were slightly overcooked, but that might just be because I prefer them a little firmer. Still, the sauce made up for it, so it was okay overall. The restaurant has a vibe that really feels like the East Coast, perfect for dates or wine lovers. The service was excellent, and overall, it was a great experience. I would definitely come back.

Solid spot to go for a casual date night! We ordered the: 1. Focaccia Ebraica 2. Radicchio Salad 3. Short Rib Ragu 4. Panna Cotta My partner and I really loved the flakiness of the Focaccia. It has this savory sweet flavor with the butter that leaves you wanting more. The salad was alright--I've heard that it's one of the most popular items on the menu but I just didn't feel it wowed me as a dish. Ragu for entreé was filling! I loved how tender the meat was, but my partner thought it was too salty (which I do believe it was a tad bit as well). Panna Cotta was surprisingly our favorite to end the night out. Light, refreshing, and just the right about of tanginess. Our server was attentive and provided us with recommendations as this was our first time. I'll definitely find myself back here when I'm around the area, but I wouldn't call it an all-time fav.

There is something about the vibe here that reminds me of New York. The little outdoor space dedicated to outdoor seating and being engulfed in a canopy of trees in a very tight neighborhood sits this trendy Italian restaurant. This restaurant also has an attached bar with pizzas, but alas we did not try that. We sat in the main restaurant right across the kitchen which is exposed for everyone to see. Who doesn't get excited hearing someone yell "fire..."? We ordered the bread which looked like a cinnamon roll, but was savory, pillowy, and kissed by an olive oily flavor. Paired with there balsamic olive oil butter it just melts in your mouth . The pasta was cooked perfectly. It was bouncy and the coating and cheese were all perfect. The bad. This is echo park. Parking sucks. I was able to find parking in the adjacent neighborhood, and my friend also found parking in the neighborhood, but it did take time for him to find a spot. This place rocks. Make a reservation.

Italian food is abundant in Los Angeles, but truly great spots are few and far between. Bacetti, however, stands out even amongst my favorite LA haunts. I'd had my eye on this charming trattoria for months, and I'm happy to say it exceeded my expectations. My friends and I dined al fresco and the vibes were wonderful. Our server, Byron, was so kind, attentive, and happy to make recommendations. I was in a drinking mood, so I was happy to see that they had a Lambrusco. Upon tasting, my friends and I loved it so much that we sprung for the bottle rather than just having a glass. It had perfect amount of fizz and wasn't too dry or too sweet. For starters, we had the focaccia and brocollini. The focaccia was melt in your mouth soft and incredibly flavorful. Brocollini was decent too. For my entree, I went with the house made short rib malfadine pasta and I cleaned every last bite. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the short rib was incredibly tender and the dish was filling and flavorful without being too dense. We ended the night with the tiramisu and a sticky toffee pudding. Great tiramisu. Perfect balance of cream, coffee, and ladyfingers. Bacetti has their portions and ratios down! But the sticky toffee pudding was truly something to write home about. The dreamiest texture, the perfect flavor; I was in heaven. My friends and I were comfortably full after polishing everything off, but we still considered ordering another sticky toffee pudding. It's just that good. A rare 5 star experience. Can't wait to return.

This place is sooo cute!! Super pretty interior and definitely a spot that's on the nicer side. The service was super friendly and home-y as well. I had seen people raving about the focaccia and it was definitely amazing! They mastered the texture, as it was fluffy and soft, unlike many other focaccias I've had. The carbonara rigatoni was AMAZING. Very creamy and thick, and the pasta was super thick and al dente, which is how I like it. The short rib mafaldine sauce was a little watery when I like it on the thicker side, but still good with super tender yummy short rib too! Overall, I love this spot and can't wait to come back!

Within minutes, tickets for Saturday night were completely taken. Crazy! So much hype around this restaurant and for the most part, it did actually live up to it. Garlic Bread - Heavenly. A crunchy exterior with a soft buttery finish in between every slice and topped with parm shavings. This was definitely my favorite out of everything we got! Arugula Salad - Dressed perfectly with a tooooon of cheese on top. My type of salad! There was enough acidity in the dressing that the cheese wasn't too overpowering. Meat and Cheese Plate - Assorted meats and cheeses with olives and artichokes. All the cheeses were rich and the meats were sliced thinly. The portion of the plate as a whole was a little on the small side though. Fusilli Alla Vodka - The flavor was good but it honestly tasted like I could've made it at home. I was expecting a more rich creamy sauce with a handmade pasta. My hopes were extremely high for this dish since this is the one everyone gets. It wasn't bad by any means, it just wasn't what I was expecting after seeing all the great reviews on it. Pan Seared Branzino - Comes on a bed of green sauce. The branzino itself was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sauce felt a little out of place. A little too herby. It comes deboned. Patatas - Generous portion of crispy large potatoes with a delicious bed of aioli. Cannolis - Comes with 3 fun sized cannolis of differing flavors. Strawberry, chocolate, and I'm forgetting the other flavor. A fun take on your classic cannoli. My least favorite was the strawberry shortcake. It had the concept of a cannolis but just didn't hold up well and was more like cheesecake. The chocolate was the best. I did enjoy the toppings on either side of the cannoli for an extra crunch. Rosina - Perfectly balanced cocktail. A little sweet with enough tartness to not make it overpowering. Service was great, the interior of the restaurant was cute and homey, food came out quickly - overall, a very good experience. The hype around this place made my expectations extremely high, and although they weren't all met, this was still a meal I would definitely come back for.

Maccheroni Republic - Life is full of pasta-bilities!…read more So if you know anything about me, you know that I love pasta more than just about anything. While I can only officially claim about 12% Italian heritage, I'm 100% down for Italian food, especially homemade pasta, any day of the week. I'm spending this week in Little Tokyo for a conference, and while Japanese food is also absolutely my jam, when Maccheroni Republic slid into my Yelp feed, I knew that I had to hoof it over there immediately after we broke for the day. I saw the front of the building, and my heart sank because it looked closed, but then I noted the sign that indicated that the entrance is on the right side of the building through the courtyard. Thank goodness! I strutted through the courtyard, and observed about 15 people waiting for tables. Unbothered, I went up to the host stand and chatted with the stylish maitre'd - Dino - who indicated that he could have a table for me in 7-10 minutes. I proceeded to wait and I watched how he deftly sat the other waiting parties in order without difficulty or notes. To the untrained eye, it might have looked a little chaotic, but Dino absolutely knew what he was doing. About 15 minutes later, Dino sat me at a corner deuce in the inside dining room where I had a nice view of everything. Angel efficiently took my order and did a very good job of overseeing my table as well as about nine others. The dining room is so cute and homey, and the patio is a welcome respite from the bustle and business of downtown. Since I was "da sola" or on my own, I just tried the shrimp cakes and I ordered the Rigatoni all Norma which is one of of my go to pasta dishes since I don't eat much meat. Incidentally, this dish is named after Norma, the famous 19th-century opera composed by Catanese native Vincenzo Bellini. According to legend, a famous Sicilian playwright, Nino Martoglio, tried the pasta and was so overwhelmed by its perfection that he exclaimed, "Chista è 'na vera Norma!" ("This is a true Norma!"), comparing the culinary masterpiece to the musical one. So says Wikipedia anyway. The shrimp cakes were delivered quickly by a sweet food runner who kindly checked on me periodically during my dinner. The four shrimp cakes were accompanied by sauteed onions which paired really nicely with the crispy cakes that were brightened with a spritz from the fresh lemon wedge. She also brought a basket with four slices of Italian bread which I enjoyed with the EVOO and Balsamic that were on the table. My Watermelon Ciao was also so good. It was sweetly tart and such a nice treat on a Monday! Not long after I polished off the shrimp cakes, the rigatoni was delivered and dusted with a generous layer of parmigiana. The little fresh mozzarella pearls glistened on the top of the pasta and slowly melted and oozed into the sauce as I stirred it up. Yum! The rigatoni were al dente and delicious, and they were perfectly sauced. Of course, the eggplant was perfectly cooked as well, I only wish there had been a few more pieces of it - although by the time I ate the last noodle, I was so full! Alas, I had no room for dessert, but I intend to bring some of my conference colleagues back for a meal before the end of the week because it was THAT GOOD. I also loved that this place is NOT pretentious at all. There were all sorts of folks enjoying their food here from medical professionals in scrubs to college kids in shorts and t-shirts, and I was also very casually attired, but I was treated well and welcomed with graciousness and delicious food! Mille grazie Maccheroni Republic, Dino, Angel and everyone at this wonderfully lowkey yet fabulous trattoria.

The one nice thing I have to say is that the bread was yummy and warm. I was very delighted by that. Other than that, I'm bummed to say: their house wine is $16(!) a glass, the caprese was only kinda decent - the tomato was cold/ refrigerated and had no taste. I also ordered a vegetarian lasagne (I'm a vegetarian) that I was happy to see on the menu, but then they served me the meat one. It wasn't until I was able to get a straight answer from the second server I asked that I was able to confirm they served me the wrong one. The veggie lasagne had potential but it was absolutely smothered in soooooo much cheese (yes even for a lasagne) that it truly felt like a thick stringy choking hazard - the cheese became super tacky/sticky. I did not find that their food quality matched their prices. I truly don't understand how they have such a good rating, so I came here to give my honest assessment for future patrons to weigh as well.

I placed my pickup order through Yelp, and the process was incredibly easy. I ordered the pesto…read morechicken pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, and it was honestly one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. It came with a perfectly toasted garlic roll that complemented the meal so well. My friend ordered the Heights Sandwich and absolutely loved it. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. I would definitely recommend ordering ahead for pickup. There's also a parking lot behind the deli, which makes picking up your order quick and convenient. I'll definitely be back!

These days when I cruise into Lincoln Heights, I'd be forgiven for my one-track horse-blinded…read moremind-a-wanderin, still hazed out over the swanked-out Airliner remodel...ah the memories... So it's quite the coup that I finally made it on over to the Heights DABS! A slice of that 18 inch pie is on the brain today as I skip up the mini-staircase into the joint. Having just come from another not-to-be-named Pizza spot in the DTLA to NELA corridor, my hangdog face belies my energetic hoppin-pep-in-the-step into Heights, shaking off a droopy and disappointingly dry slice amidst the brain-bleeding profanity laced hate-punk screaming over that joint's speakers as I sized up the Margherita I always use as an avatar to benchmark how we dooooin' in the pizza quality and taste department no matter where I go. I confess I've been captured and SPOILED by love affairs with Greek Pizza in Boston, Deep Dish in Chicago, NYC greezy gooey goodness at 3am, and of course the ultimate seduction of sublime simplicity of the Neapolitan Pizzas of Napoli. Yes, I am a sucker for the traditional brick oven Margheritas and Bufalinas of Italia, just that simple barometer of OG greatness, minimalistic bliss. Less than 5 bucks and 10 min later, I'm ambling down said teeny stairs with a large warm white cardboard box that seems far too large for a mere SLICE. Have they made a packaging error? I was expecting a small thin wilty Dixie plate! These days, we don't wanna waste cardboard, do we? Driving off, I contemplate a spot to pull over along the Arroyo Seco to enjoy my dining behind the wheel. I just can't hold in my wondering, patience is definitely NOT a virtue when curiosity is just killing this Jazz Cat. A quick stop at a red light later, I can't hold it in any longer. FLIP. UP. THAT. LID! Daaaaaaammmnnnn! That is one MONSTROUS slice, as I slyly smile in astonishment! But my sly smile slowly segues to sadness, then semi-panicked confusion, disorientation, even! For THIS is not the Margherita one familiarly recognizes as the artistic minimalistic masterpiece a proper Neapolitan Margherita MUST BE! I am starting to get anxious, angsty, and now a bit ANGRY! what a fool I was! Instead I am misled into chow down mode to consume a Godzilla-sized molten mess of mossy dry basil haphazardly strewn about to and fro across the pie, resembling katsuo bonito flakes dancing around in the disarray of their differential dehydration! Inexplicably, jagged rows of somewhat square Roma tomatoes are lined up in lazy formations like a disorganized military company. What's more, the gooey globs of mozzarella are NOT expertly anchored down to the bed of cheese below, supposed to cling to the pie while providing just enough protruding relief like an old globe map with a mountain range rising above the horizon. Nope, they are instead here and there and almost everywhere, seemingly untethered to the matrix of cheese below, chaotically floating around like slightly rectangular glops of pale possible goodness?!!? JT, hold it together, you must attack this mess while it's still hot. Beep Beep! THE LIGHT HAS TURNED GREEN MANY SECONDS AGO! Get thee to the Arroyo! Minutes later, I'm at my perch. I bite into the unruly beast. I am pleasantly greeted by a most satisfying CRUNCH! Then a chewy tug-tremendous! Then the mass of basil flakiness flying through my mouth and down the hatch, chased by those deeeelish misshapen untethered white cubes o' cheesiness charging down my throat aside tons of tumbling tomatoes! It's an absolute avalanche of WOW! It's like there's a party in my mouth, and the most unlikely heroes showed up and showed out! Let's add the Unconventional Neapolitanical Pizzas of Lincoln Heights to the Lovefest List! Heights DABS, you've made my day. On to meet up with long lost friends converging in HP from nearby points dearly loved, I'm feelin' GRRRREEEEAT! DONE.
