For some odd reason, a lot of Italian spots have seemingly cropped up overnight in Echo Park and the greater region. Out of sheer luck, my best friend decided to chose this spot for our girls' night dinner, and we have decided on consensus that we savored every bite of our meal. We started our meal with the absolutely delectable focaccia erbraica, a cinnamon roll looking starter bread with olives, currant and a generous sprinkle of rosemary and salt. It came with a pad of homemade honey butter and a dab of olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. It was so umami and paired with the butter seemingly melted in our mouths. We also countered that carb bomb with deliciously charred broccolini with walnuts and a squeeze of citrus. Highly cruciferous veggies should only be grilled based on how fast we cleaned our plate. As for the entrees, the plates are meant to share, but I skipped lunch and ate my own bowl of mafaldine short rib pasta (yes you read that right). It was so hearty and satisfying. As a kid, I loved stealing the cooked lasagna noodles and eating them by itself when my mom would make lasagna, so having it on my own bowl of pasta (in the form of mafaldine) gratified my inner child. The short rib was so tender and it was perfectly sauced. I could have eaten another bowl. My friend ordered a steak and a rigatoni alla carbonara, and while I didn't try the former, the latter rigatoni was so delicious as well. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu, and luckily the last one of the night. It had equal parts espresso soaked cake and cream, and it was the perfect sweet note to end our epically delicious meal. read more

Bacetti is a beautiful restaurant serving delicious food, but our experience was unfortunately let down by some confusing and inconsistent service. The restaurant is located near Dodger Stadium in a hilly residential area that isn't particularly pedestrian-friendly. Parking was by far the biggest logistical challenge, as we couldn't find any dedicated parking options beyond residential street parking. It's worth planning extra time if you're driving. We arrived around 7:45 for our 8pm reservation simply to check in, not expecting to be seated early. The host, seeming a little bothered, let us know our table would be ready closer to our reservation time and offered grabbing a drink at the bar next door as an option while we wait. We didn't want to order drinks, so we stood against the wall in the waiting area across the host stand. We were single-file, hugging the wall and not blocking anyone. Nevertheless, we were quickly told we couldn't wait there and needed to either go outside (it was cold) or sit at the tables next to the bar. After taking the indoor option given to us, a server came over to take our order. We explained that we were only sitting there because the host had directed us to wait there until our table was ready. The server responded, "Well, if you're here, it's basically expected you order a drink." Restaurants: please do not play games with your patrons. If purchasing something is expected to use the waiting area you direct us to, it leaves a really bad taste to discover it after you've sat down. After 8, we were seated in the main restaurant for our reservation. Our server was friendly, personable, and never made us feel pressured to order more than we wanted like I've encountered in other places. The menu was explained as family-style, with dishes intended to arrive around the same time. Unfortunately, the pacing of the meal didn't match that explanation. Instead of arriving together, the dishes came out individually over the course of about 1-2 hours, often 10-20 minutes apart. I completely understand that everything is made fresh, but it was disappointing after being told the meal would be timed differently. Setting accurate expectations would have gone a long way. The food itself was excellent and easily the highlight of the evening. While the dishes leaned a bit salty, everything was crafted artfully with quality ingredients. The stuffed fried squash blossoms, carbonara, pesto, and peach & burrata salad were all standouts that I'd happily order again. read more

Echo Park, Los Angeles. Came in on a holiday Monday and was surprised was able to get a table. It's usually packed in here and whenever I attempted to make a reservation it didn't quite work out. I was seated efficiently by the host and proceeded to tell me that we order everything at once and that was no problem for us. Bacetti is set up like an open kitchen, lots of tables with a battalion of chefs in the back cooking up a storm. It was pretty cool to watch. There are outside tables also. The bar area is for overflow but only serves snacks. Our wait person was super polite. Now the food. There was a little bit of a wait, but that was not a problem. We decided to get the broccolini and the carbonara. If we were still hungry, we had our eyes on one of the main dishes. The broccolini came, and it was probably the most delicious preparation I've had in the states. It was loaded with garlic, and nuts , really good ingredients really good olive oil and it was cooked very very well. Next up was the carbonara with guanciale and egg yolk. The rigatoni was nicely chewy and the sauce was perfectly made. This filled us up. We were very impressed with the authenticity of the dishes and how well-made they were. Came by on a Monday night and got seated immediately as a walk-in. The highlights of our meal was surprisingly not the pasta, but the caesar salad that came with anchovies and the ricotta stuffed squash blossoms (I'm surprised they have this on the menu!!) that absolutely knocked it out of the park. Such a cute place! I loved their decor and their outfits! Everyone was super friendly and my waitress was very attentive. The pasta was so so good and I loved the texture of the noodle. I would give them a 4.5 rather than a 5 because of the crudo, it was good but the passata was a bit too acidic, almost too much so to be palatable. I still really enjoyed the evening and they have amazing presentation. Highly recommend and would return. It's also fairly easy to find street parking for free which I always like. Okay I gotta say I'm getting tired of giving 5 star reviews, but then i realize for these kinds of things (restaurants for special occasions) we get recommendations from our foodie kids and friends and they are seldom wrong. This place was recommended by my step-daughter, and it was fantastic. I asked for a cozy table for my wife's birthday, and we were seated in a nice little booth by the kitchen on a cold night in January. The dining room is gorgeous, with a lot of nice different areas. The couple next to us were also friendly, as a bonus. Everyone nearby seemed to be really enjoying their dining experience. My step-daughter made us promise to order the focaccia. We're not big bread eaters, but thank goodness we got this. I'm not even sure it's technically focaccia, but it's freakin' delicious! We also shared a radicchio salad, the campanelle pasta (all pastas are house-made) and the steak tartare. Okay, my wife's a vegetarian so I ate the whole tartare myself and it was amazing. I mean, truly perfect. The server was wonderful and recommended a perfect red for my meal (by the glass, the mrs. doesn't drink), and then we decided to have the affogato, which went by being delivered to the kitchen table and was one of the best we've ever had. What a gem in Echo Park! Right off the bat this is a perfect place for a datenight. Great ambiance with modern decor and beautiful high vaulted ceiling. I was treating my friend out for her birthday on a thursday night. She recommended this place as she was here before. For drinks, bday girl got her favorite TWO-KISS SPRITZ and I got a glass of GLS Rocco di Carpeneto Afaja which was crisp and refreshing. The FOCACCIA EBRAICA with taggiasca olives, currants, rosemary, and sea salt was memorable. It looked like a cinnamon roll. Great to start with! Their seasonal KABOCHA SQUASH with pomegranates, balsamic drizzle, basil and hazelnuts was delicious! For mains, we got the MAFALDINE RAGU and BRANZINO. The mafaldine with the short rib ragu was "chef's kiss" - definitely a must-try! The branzino was good but underwhelming compared to the mafaldine . My friend raved about both dishes but I would skip on the branzino. The squash and the mafaldine were standouts in terms of flavor and texture that they both eclipsed the branzino. We were so full that we didn't order dessert. Chelsie was our waitress and she was nice, courteous, and attentive. Parking wasn't easy though. I lucked out on street parking nearby. read more

This review is specifically for the newly opened Bar Bacetti, which used to be Tilda. Bacetti is one of my favorite spots in Echo Park. It's in a gorgeous location on Echo Park Ave, and they constructed a beautiful outdoor setup during COVID, which has remained. The Bar next door is really romantic and intimate, with a handful of indoor tables in the front and a few more dramatically-styled tables in the back room. They have an aperitivo hour from 3-5p during the week in which you can get a snack with any drink. I opted for the stuffed peppers, which were a perfect complement to my uniquely crafted Aperol Spritz. The drink wasn't filled to the top, which was slightly off-putting due to the prices, but seeing other drinks come out from behind the bar, it seemed like that just might be their practice. As a second snack, I ordered the meatballs, which were fried and crazy tasty. They served a very generous portion, and it was so filling, I didn't need to order anything else. I will continue to frequent this spot, and will branch out to try different dishes and drinks in the future. read more

We went for dinner after watching the Dodgers game, and this place is very close to Dodger Stadium, which makes it convenient but parking can be a bit difficult. The restaurant's décor is stylish, definitely a hidden gem in Echo Park. Since it was Wednesday, they had a special menu: one pizza with a bottle of wine for $65, which we thought was a great deal. The pizza was indeed delicious, and the red wine we chose was surprisingly good in quality. We also ordered pasta. Personally, I felt the noodles were slightly overcooked, but that might just be because I prefer them a little firmer. Still, the sauce made up for it, so it was okay overall. The restaurant has a vibe that really feels like the East Coast, perfect for dates or wine lovers. The service was excellent, and overall, it was a great experience. Food and menu options were very good. Other than some small hiccups, I really enjoyed our experience overall. We were greeted very warmly by the host. Waitress was nice but didn't address us much or do anything special (more to come). We ordered an app, salad, pasta, and branzino. Unfortunately, they were out of the branzino (the table next to us got the last one) so we pivoted to the steak. Our reservation was at 7:30 and we ordered pretty fast so I was surprised they would run out of the fish so early in the night. Our salad came and I realized it had goat cheese on it even though I put in my Resy that I don't eat goat cheese. When I told the waitress she didn't seem concerned and since the menu didn't specify what cheese, she didn't offer any replacement. Luckily, the person I was with loved the salad so we moved on. Our next course took quite a while and finally they brought the steak. It was clear that they forgot the pasta dish so I mentioned it the runner and he looked into it. Our waitress never visited between the salad and when the steak came and never made any reference that the pasta was missed. Luckily they fired it up quickly and the runner was the one who delivered it. Both the steak and pasta were very good so I didn't make any fuss over the missed dish. We were enjoying our conversation and taking in the surroundings which involved a very loud table of people a couple tables down at the bar portion of the restaurant, that made for good people watching / listening:-). Finally, our waitress did come back and ask about dessert. We ordered the chocolate tart only to be told that was also sold out. So we went with the toffee pudding which the waitress said was her favorite. I felt like that was the most we got from her all night. Again, she was fine / nice, just didn't offer much. In fact, our waters were empty after we got the dessert but we never saw her again to get a refill. Oh well, she was right that the dessert was great and she was very pleasant otherwise. The salad was alright--I've heard that it's one of the most popular items on the menu but I just didn't feel it wowed me as a dish. Ragu for entreé was filling! I loved how tender the meat was, but my partner thought it was too salty (which I do believe it was a tad bit as well). Panna Cotta was surprisingly our favorite to end the night out. The little outdoor space dedicated to outdoor seating and being engulfed in a canopy of trees in a very tight neighborhood sits this trendy Italian restaurant. This restaurant also has an attached bar with pizzas, but alas we did not try that. We sat in the main restaurant right across the kitchen which is exposed for everyone to see. Who doesn't get excited hearing someone yell "fire..."? We ordered the bread which looked like a cinnamon roll, but was savory, pillowy, and kissed by an olive oily flavor. Wait staff never came to check on us even with 2 servers. The front of house who picked up the phone was not friendly and borderline curt. The food was a disappointing. We ordered bread, salad and 2 pastas. The bread was interesting with currents and olive but was over powered by thyme. I would not order it again at $15. The Caesar Salad $18 and was smothered in dressing and large finger length of sardine fillets that were extremely salty. The Mafaldine was very mid. It's was palatable but had an odd sweetness to it. Unfortunately, the pesto was not palatable and left untouched by both of us after the first bite. Really earthy tasting and a bit bitter. I watched the hostess make people wait in the front while the place was empty and the wait staff just gathered around chit chatting. They would not let us order pizza since we were in the main dining area which I found very odd. We drove an hour to try this place and were extremely disappointed. April, the manager (only one that smiled) salvaged the experience. She was really friendly and attentive. We discussed and recommend restaurants to each other so my partner felt comfortable enough to let her know about our experience. She sent over the sticky toffee dessert to us on the house. I had seen people raving about the focaccia and it was definitely amazing! They mastered the texture, as it was fluffy and soft, unlike many other focaccias I've had. I'd had my eye on this charming trattoria for months, and I'm happy to say it exceeded my expectations. My friends and I dined al fresco and the vibes were wonderful. Our server, Byron, was so kind, attentive, and happy to make recommendations. I was in a drinking mood, so I was happy to see that they had a Lambrusco. Upon tasting, my friends and I loved it so much that we sprung for the bottle rather than just having a glass. It had perfect amount of fizz and wasn't too dry or too sweet. For starters, we had the focaccia and brocollini. The focaccia was melt in your mouth soft and incredibly flavorful. Brocollini was decent too. For my entree, I went with the house made short rib malfadine pasta and I cleaned every last bite. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the short rib was incredibly tender and the dish was filling and flavorful without being too dense. We ended the night with the tiramisu and a sticky toffee pudding. Great tiramisu. Perfect balance of cream, coffee, and ladyfingers. Bacetti has their portions and ratios down! But the sticky toffee pudding was truly something to write home about. The dreamiest texture, the perfect flavor; I was in heaven. My friends and I were comfortably full after polishing everything off, but we still considered ordering another sticky toffee pudding. We ordered the focaccia, carbonara and rigatoni. Both were good but didn't "wow" us. Got the rigatoni first. It's the perfect balance of salty and sweet, and the exterior was nice and crisp, with a soft interior. Truly so delicious, especially with the honey butter. Sunchokes: 5/5 AMAZING I absolutely loved these (not pictured) Campanelle: 4/5 so so good! The mushrooms were very nicely done and the pasta itself is clearly fresh and delicious. The pasta itself is light and a little lemony. Olive oil cake: 4/5 this was super tasty but a bit dry at the interior. My friend and I came in on a Friday night at 5:45PM and luckily, we got a table even though we didn't make a reservation! There was only street parking offered, which was the tricky part. I got the Rigatoni alla Carbonara and my friend had the Rigatoni all' Amatriciana. Both tasted INSANELY good! The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce was heavenly! They also had guanicale (salted Italian pork meat) in both pastas which added a nice touch to the flavor. Both were $23, and for that price, I do wish the portion was bigger. For dessert, I got the Affogato and my friend had the Sorbet Trio. I would say that both are skippable and not extraordinary. It's also on the pricier side. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive and service was great! The hostess and waiter were super kind! They automatically apply a 20% gratuity fee to the check, which I wasn't particularly fond of as I like to set my own rates for tip. Overall, great place for date night with your friends or partner! This did not disappoint, the capicolla added the right amount of salt and heat to keep me interested. The two items that will keep me coming back, the Focaccia Evraica and the Potate Pizze! Beautiful setting, tasty food, and good service. A really good restaurant for a date night or to bring your family to. I highly recommend the focaccia, it was super fresh and soft. We ordered the cavatelli with pesto and the ragu, I highly recommend both! You can tell the pasta is freshly made. Parking can be really tough, we were lucky to find street parking. read more

I made a reservation here to celebrate my birthday with some friends, so we were seated right as we checked in with the host. This was all our first time eating at this restaurant, so we took some time looking at the menu and ended up ordering one appetizer, the focaccia, and 4 dishes of pasta. Our server mentioned that our entrees (the 4 pastas) would be served all together, so we waited until everything came to our table to take a picture of the food. The focaccia came out quickly, but we waited for more than 30 minutes for 3 of the pastas, while the last dish took even longer, so we started eating. Even after we finished what we had on our table, the last pasta still wasn't served to us, so we let a server know, but even then, it took so long for us to catch a single servers' attention, despite there being many of them. When we were seated and ordered all our food at once, the restaurant wasn't busy, with only a few customers, so we were dumbfounded with the slow service and lack of professionalism. We no longer had the patience to wait, so we asked a server to pack our last dish to-go, but a few seconds later, it was served to our table, so we reluctantly ate the dish and asked for our check, which also took ages to come. There's an automatic 20% gratuity, no matter your party size, but you can ask to dispute this and change how much you want to give. I'm not too sure if the person who helped us out was a manager, but she did end up removing the cost for our last dish, so the total for our food was around $130 instead of $160. As for the restaurant itself, the ambiance indoors is a vibe after the sun sets, but the food was alright, nothing special. It's also quite overpriced, considering the small portion size. Wow! What a find this restaurant was! Party of 4 . Bread was beyond good. Squash dish was amazing. Salad was perfect. Pasta carbonara on point . Red pasta excellent. Best of all was the chicken parmigiana. Very tender and breaded perfectly. We would go back in a heartbeat! read more

Bacetti Trattoria has become one of our favorite spots. The atmosphere is effortlessly stylish and always welcoming. Starting from the top of the menu, the Focaccia Ebracia under Antipasti is a must every time. The seasonal vegetable dishes from the Intermezzi section are always on point. We usually skip the Pizze since LA has no shortage of great pizza spots, and this isn't really the move for that. For Primi, if the Cacio e Pepe is on the menu, don't sleep on it. In Secondi, we love both the Bistecca (a 10oz skirt steak with salsa verde and patate al forno) and the Branzino (served whole with arugula, marjoram, and gremolata). The wine list is always solid and pairs great with everything. A few things to note: corkage is $35 per bottle with a max of 2 bottles per table. There's a $7 per guest fee for outside desserts. Guest checks include a 20% gratuity. Valet parking is right at Echo Park Ave and Scott Ave. They're a cashless establishment, so plan ahead. Bacetti just consistently delivers. Great food, great vibe, and one of those spots that just works whether you're coming in for a casual weeknight or something a little more special. read more
