My friend recommended we meet at Bachman Park, which I hadn't heard of before. It's tucked away in a beautiful residential area and it's very peaceful and quiet. It's only a few minutes drive (or 10 minute walk) from downtown LG. There are 2 playgrounds and a large sandpit with plenty of toys for children to use. There are some picnic benches and a water fountain, but as others noted, there are no bathrooms. I love the huge oak trees and walking path. I've only been here twice but it's already become one of my favorite local parks. Street parking is easy and convenient. There were lots of locals walking their dogs but I didn't see that many children/families at the playground area. read more

Really love this spot. Lots of trees, which provides much needed shade during the hot summer! There are two designated playground areas for little ones and then for bigger kiddos. Swings in both designated areas, as well. Looks like there is a basketball court and a grassy field, which is great. I also love the circular sand box area that has a bunch of communal toys (trucks, buckets, etc). This park definitely feels safe! read more

I grew up at this park, and its truly lovely. With the gorgeous neighborhood of Los Gatos surrounding it, this is a true nugget in the heart of the community. Far less crowded then Vasona, it has a small playground, a basketball court and some modest tables for use. I cannot remember if they have a BBQ or not, but the website will tell you. For a safe place for kids to play, to hoop without any trouble and for a generally pleasant park atmosphere, this little jewel will meet your needs. read more

This is a darling little neighborhood park. It is designed for small children and has an especially nice sand box. The large grassy area is fine for older children to play frizbee or tag. The creek running by is a nice place to look for polliwogs. Be advised, there is NO RESTROOM! There are no facilities of any kind, not even a water fountain. I have fond memories of this park as a teenager, doing martial arts on the basketball court. In the 21st century I come by here occasionally and sit on a bench and eat a sandwich or read, wondering where my youthfulness went. It's a small park, smack dab in a nice residential area. No bathrooms, by the way; a couple of oak trees, and a few benches. The play area is geared for younger kids, like toddlers to seven year olds. I guess. I've never seen trash strewn about, nor beer cans in the play area; nor have I seen homeless people here vomiting, or even existing at all, but suppose they were here occasionally. So what?!? They are people, too, and I'd like to see where you would hang out if your smug, entitled lifestyle took a turn for the worse. In all the years I've been coming here, I have never had a problem parking--which is not a mile away but right at the curb of the park,. At worst you might have to park on a a nearby residential street and walk a minute and a half to the park. So, hardly any free parking? There is no paid parking around here, it's all free, so that person must be thinking of some other park. and I've never seen all that goose poop about which someone was whining. Careful being on the grass--irresponsible pet owners use it as a urine depository on occasion. Oh, and more about the grass: Dead or mostly dirt? It is neither. There are spots that are dead and spots of dirt, but most is grass. In case you have forgotten--Los Gatos, a part of the Bay Area, has been experiencing the worst drought in roughly 500 years, and it has been a long drought. So, expect some dead grass and dirt. Or are you from SoCal where they have robust, full lawns that are watered regularly--during the drought--with our NorCal Hetch-Hetchy water? read more

Horrible and disgusting park. There is barely any good free parking. Most of the parking is a mile away. The playground is full of trash and I had to take away 2 beer cans from my toddler while he was in the sandbox. No bathrooms, no bbqs, no shade. My family all returned home with sunburns while playing in this treeless park. I can't believe the city of Los gatos has allowed the homeless to sleep on the benches here. Ridiculous. My family had to witness a homeless man vomit while we had our picnic. The slide on the playground is burning hot and half the grass is dead or dirt. There is dog and goose crap all over the southern end of the park and the smell is apparent on the northern end. Stay away. (It's mine.) read more

The park is great, the location is great, but most families that bring their children to that park live in that area, and they seem to have an ownership attitude for the place. I talked to several families in that park and each time I mentioned I wasn't from the area, I felt judgement and attitude. read more

I absolutely love this park. It's centrally located near downtown Los Gatos and it has tons of charm. The sandbox features toys that people can leave at the park for everyone to share. The playground is fun for younger children and if you're worried about your kids outgrowing that, there's a big lawn for sports and a basketball hoop. Now pay attention to this next part because it's important. It...has...really big sticks!!! Not just the poke it in your little brother's eye and throw it in the sandbox kind of sticks either. The kind that can be your wizard sword or baseball bat and absolutely has to be stuffed into the stroller and walked all the way home kind of rad stick! And where can you find this rad stick? In the enchanted forest that runs along the hillside of the park! Best part of all, in adult scale, this park is actually small enough to keep your eye on the big guy in the forest and the little guy on the swings at the same time without cramping their style. read more

I have so many good memories at this park... Growing up my parents used to go on weekend walks after breakfast at LG cafe and we'd walk up to this beautiful park and spend quality family time together. This place really holds a warm place in my heart. read more

A true hidden gem of Los Gatos. This is a nice, well kept up , small park nestled amongst residential homes. The feel is one of being secluded but very safe. Enough grass to lay on, a playground for kids, and walkways for any age. Thumbs up town of LG! read more

Meant to post this months ago. Situated in very quiet neighborhood of Los Gatos. Shady which I like on hot days. Small but my 4 year old loves it. Not enclosed so children can actually run off to road, but it is so small you can easily keep an eye on them. And roads are small with local traffic, so not busy. Unless morning or people coming home from work. Lots if grass, big sand box and mini paved walk for strolling, or little bikes. read more
