really love that this park has so many swings! 4+ for babies/toddlers and older kids, as well. Sizeable playground for 2-5 year olds and 5+ year olds. Parents are friendly, as well, which helps. Some dogs around, and lots of grassy areas. Some groups that tend to meet up for exercising, which is great entertainment for my toddler :) (do you burn calories by watching?? haha). Fairly clean, which is great and the least amount of litter/trash that I've seen at a san jose park. Located in a residential area that seems safe and quiet! Update on 2/27/23: The volunteer caretaker's name is Louis. He often rides a bike with three wheels and with a basket and comes in the morning around 9am. He helps clean the park almost daily and care for the plants and trees. He does not get paid for his services. He does it out of the goodness of his heart! If you see him, thank him. read more

Our family has been coming to this park for years and it's one of our girls (6 & 8) favorites. This park has a lot to offer for families with toddlers and older kids. It has tennis courts, basketball courts, swings, multiple play structures (for big kids and little kids), and huge open grassy areas. There is also a walking loop that surrounds the largest of the grassy areas. All the times we have been there it has been clean and not too crowded. There is a parking lot and a lot of street parking. This is a great park for some fun family time! read more

Been frequenting this park for almost a decade! Plenty of space for kids and dogs to frolick and play about any sport you can imagine! Tennis and basketball courts add to facilites. Bathrooms have always been clean and stocked. My true issue is the people... NO joke. People Come here and have parties with load music alcohol and other un allowed items... The problem is they almost never clean up. And I am being real last time I said something to a person they claimed racism... I am not joking why I am putting it here. If you litter you are trash and the cause to all the problems in the world. Selfishness is sad and depressing. Wish more parents here stood up for the park read more

My family and I discovered this park while a loved one was hospitalized at Good Samaritan for a week. My granddaughter could not be at the hospital with her parents so we'd bring her every day to spend some time with her father. We'd come to the park each day, see her play and even take a short stroll along the path around the grassy area. I love every feature at this park from the separate play areas based on age, the basketball and tennis courts, the shaded picnic tables and the clean bathrooms. There were always plenty of families having fun, relaxing or getting some exercise in. It's a nice change of pace when you want some good old fashioned family time. I do not reside close by, but would plan a regular picnic here so my granddaughter can enjoy herself. She seems to be very confident with herself lately. Hogue park is a very well kept, clean park with plenty of shady areas, plus shade over much of the play area. There are 2 play areas, one for ages 2-5 and one for 5 and up. There is enough of a separation between the two that you stand a (small) chance of keeping your toddler off of the big kid area. There is a bathroom right by the toddler area which is convenient and lots of picnic tables. We played there for a couple of hours today and my daughter loved it! read more

On Sunday our church met up at this park for a picnic and service. The park is equipped with a nice, big playground for kids of all sizes and benches conveniently located in front of the playground. There's also basketball and tennis courts. This park is tucked away in a nice and quiet neighborhood. It's a good find with it being summer. We can take the kids to the park after church on Sundays :) read more

We really loved the playground here. There are multiple play structures meant for a variety of age groups. My son really loved the fire truck. It was nice that there were drinking fountains staggered at multiple heights, including one for dogs. People who brought there dogs here were very good at keeping them on leash but by the trail of land mines on the main path, not so great at picking up after them. There was plenty of lawn to play on, basketball courts, a track and a stretching area. People that we ran into were generally nice and polite. We'll definitely be back. read more

This is a huge park for all ages. You have 1 separate playground for toddlers and another playground for the older kids. My kids are 8 and 2 years old. My 2 years old could handle the older kids playground. We had a great time with our friends and took really cute pictures. I higly recommend it! read more

The park has a playground for toddlers and kids for all ages. There are other exercise setups around the park like the pull up bar located near the basketball court or the dips near the bathroom and playground area. I really like this park with the two play areas and all the other amenities. I have a good time taking my son here to play. This is one of the main parks I've been taking him to for the past 3 years. He always has a good time. I primarily take a star away because of the restrooms. I cringe anytime my son tells me he needs to go potty when we are there. If I lived closer, I would take him home to use the bathroom. There was a short time where more sketchy people were hanging out at this park - usually cooking dinner and mostly kept to themselves - but I haven't seen them recently. Even with all this considered, I still recommend this park. read more

I have always been a big fan of Houge Park, or as my kids call it "Twilight Park", because of the fact it is on Twilight Dr., a street every 'Team Edward & Team Jacob' fan would pay their parents in allowance money to live on. I love this park for the walking & running paths around the park, the push-up bars, the parallel rings, the sit up benches, you know... all of the things I never use because I am usually eating a king size Hershey bar while watching my kids play anyways. My kids love this park because of the two different playground areas, that separate the big kids (their team), from the little kids (the opposing team). "no way". The nice thing about this park, besides the perks of the exercise built-ins that I never use, and the oversized playgrounds (the size of most of my candy bars) that my kiddies enjoy to play on, is... the fact that this park has a K9 friendly grass area for your doggies to run freely. The one thing I ask, being that my kids like to roll down the small grassy hills on their backs is... that people clean up their dogs $h!#. Please, do this for these little kids that dont have a care in the world and like to roll down hills without skidmarks down their tshirts. I like to watch from a far and observe these people, I like to refer to as; "lazy dumpers". You know, the people who will walk their dog around the park, but they never seem to have a bag to pick up the doggy landmines. Sometimes, if you are lucky enough, you can spot the dogs careless owner doing the once over around the park, the left to right look, as if they are trying to catch a fly on their shoulder with the tip of their chin. You are so obvious, lazy dumper... seriously!? We are onto you lazy dumpers... we are onto you! So, pick it up! Ok, so...the extra bonus about this park for your inner Andre Aggasi (mullet and headband hopefully not included) is... this park has tennis courts, yes tennis courts! I mean.. no mom wants to send her kiddos alone to a public toilet, but the one thing we want to hope for a public park restroom is that they are kept clean, and for the most part, these restrooms arent too shabby here. As far as the people, the only minor downfall about this park is it seems that come 8pm, Jacob and his wolf pack lurk in the shadows and like to drop a lot of f-bombs around the children in the playground area, which is a little rude and annoying (and by wolf pack... I mean, teenagers). I guess teenagers are like fleas though, they are bound to be somewhere where there is grass... and god knows I will have my hands full in a few short years with my own. We had our four year olds birthday here and it went very well. We did have to scope out a spot for the party and the bouncy house early - we got there at 10am and it was busy already so think earlier than that. We had plenty of space for our party and there were two other parties there. It has two great playgrounds for all ages. We also have walked here with our dog and it was a ton of fun. No one gave us grief for her being off leash. The grassy area was nice too - no goose poop!!! :-). Kids could eat on the grass in true picnic fashion. They have bathrooms that are relatively clean (for a park). And there is a dirt walking path in addition to the sidewalk that surrounds the park to give runners a softer path to run on. read more

This is our neighborhood park and it's pretty amazing, overall. It's very large, and it's located in an nice, upper-middle class residential neighborhood. In general, it's well maintained. There is ample parking. There is a parking lot (entrance is off Twilight Drive, next to the tennis courts), and there is also plenty of street parking surrounding the entire park. You'll have no problem finding a place to park the car! The only thing I wish were better is the bathrooms. They DO have bathrooms (unlike some neighborhood parks), and they are generally well stocked with toilet paper, at least. But it's rare that you'll find the soap and paper-towel dispensers both in working order, so I recommend bringing your own soap (or at least some hand sanitizer), and possibly even towels (or you can always drip dry, I guess). The toilets are stainless steel, so they're VERY cold on your bum, but they allow you to do what needs to be done. For the kids, there are two separate play areas and the play equipment is well maintained in both areas. In the younger-child play area, there is a fire truck play structure with two steering wheels and a slide, three baby swings with bucket seats, two regular swings, one "recliner" swing, a teeter totter/seesaw with two seats on each end, two spring-riders (one is a one-seater "motorcycle," the other is a two-seater "rocket"), a sand-pit with a small play structure in the middle of it, and a larger play structure with stairs, several ladders, a "swinging" bridge, a tube slide, a curving slide, and a spiral slide. In the older-child play area, there are six regular swings, two tire swings which twirl in a circle, and several large play structures. There is a "zip line," a foot and hand pedal exerciser, monkey bars, a "lily pad" crossing, and two elaborate play structures, each with several access points (ladders, bridges, etc), and several slides (two of which are quite high). This area is bordered by several benches for adults to relax while watching the kids play, and there are also a couple of tables with built-in chess/checker boards. There is a very large grassy field, where you'll often see several soccer practices being held on Spring evenings, or dog lovers giving their dogs some great exercise as they throw balls to be fetched. There are also several other large grassy areas with lots of trees, making for great shade. Plenty of room to spread out a blanket, or play some volleyball or frisbee. There are two separate picnic areas (one next to each of the separate play areas) each with multiple picnic tables, as well as multiple BBQ pits. Just a heads-up...these picnic areas are "first come, first reserved," and pretty much every single weekend, people will show up EARLY (think 7:00am) to stake out an area for their kids' birthday parties, etc. The early birds get all the tables! The entire park is surrounded by a well-maintained dirt walking/running path, about a quarter-mile in circumference. Along this path you will find exercise stations where you can stop and do various exercises (sit-ups, squats, balancing, jumping, stair stepping, parallel bars, rings, etc). There is a large, open blacktop area with three full basketball courts. It's far from the road, so it's a great place for kids to practice riding their bikes/scooters, etc. There are three tennis courts, enclosed by one fence around all three. They are open to the public. It's always busy, especially on weekends, but it usually doesn't feel crowded, since there's so much space for everyone to spread out. Bring the whole family out to Hogue for some fresh air and exercise...you won't be disappointed. read more

Cute neighborhood park near out house! We started taking the Twins here for a little walk for 30 minutes then time to play at the Park for a bit. They like the swings, baby slide and people watching. It's in the middle of a neighborhood so tons of young kids and seniors hanging out. It feels very safe overall and is good size. They have a baby area for the Twins and a large play area for bigger kids. Bathroom are just ok. The lawn could use a little bit of work but otherwise great park for kids!! read more

Houge is a great park with lots of play variety for small and older kids, no complaints about that. The downsides are dingy bathrooms, yucky sand in the sand pit. There are many neighbors who come with kids and dogs to this park, so there is a good family/community feel. The two grassy lawns are great for kids, but watch out for dog poop that some owners did NOT bother to clean up. For the most part the climbing/gym equipment is well maintained. I just wish the sand were a different story. Today I smelled dog or cat urine in the sand, which is to be expected for an uncovered pit, but since we come here so often, I wonder if the sand has ever been replenished or raked! read more

Houge Park is nice and very spacious. Parking is relatively easy but the restrooms need to be maintain better. Other than that, there are plenty of places to sit and relax as well as room to run a few laps, but as always, do watch out for the dog poop that some owners are too lazy to pick up. You will find several playgrounds for younger kids, basketball court, and a couple tennis courts. Plus, the small community center next to the main parking lot hosts a few special events in the evening by the SJAA (San Jose Astronomical Association) if you're into science and astronomy. read more

I live close to this park and it is fantastic for picnics, family gatherings and to exercise! The track around the park is kept neat and clean. You can bike, run, walk and bring your pets on leashes. The neighborhood is quiet and family orientated. We use the tennis courts and basketball courts from time to time, so fun! read more

This park is pretty awesome. Open fields, three different play grounds for different age levels, bathrooms, a small community center, though I have never seen anyone enter or depart from it. Oh and tennis courts and basketball courts for the older crowd. The parking lot has a ton of parking, though I used it today and there is no shade so your car gets super hot! I like this park. Large grass area, basketball courts, horse shoe area, great playgrounds (one for older kids and one for younger kids). There is plenty of parking on street and there is a decent sized parking lot. We had our son's second birthday here and it was great. No picnic reservations needed, first come first serve. Plenty of tables and a few BBQ pits as well. My only complaint is lack of shade despite all the trees, and dirty bathrooms (pretty typical of a park). This is a great local park. There are two playgrounds for kids - one for younger kids and one for big kids...My two year old loves both and spends lots of time running back and forth. There are also tennis courts and basketball courts. It's green and there are plenty of tables for picnics. The drinking fountains here actually work which is also a plus. read more
