Went on a trail walk and ended up at this park to eat the snacks and e brought with us. It was a Monday afternoon, so it was pretty quiet. We sat closer to the bathrooms, so far enough away from the playground. If you're going to sit on the grass just be careful about not sitting in geese poop. They have several areas where they keep picnic tables. You might just want to bring a wet rag or something to clean off the space. If you're looking for entertainment for the kids, you can take a mini train ride throughout the park. On weekends they have the snack bar open. They sell candy, soda pop, hamburgers and hot dogs. Never had anything there but in case you came to the park and decided to stay a little longer, then there's food available. They keep the park relatively clean. Plenty of garbage cans so no littering. There's a beautiful creek that is close to the park. read more

My only complaint about Oak Meadow is the parking situation is super tricky! The lot is way too small for such a big and wonderful park! Other than that, the carousel and train are so much fun and I can't say enough good things about the staff that work tirelessly here on weekends! I had my kid's birthday party here and it was so much fun. The only downside was parking was difficult for guests and our magician. I had to haul ass to the parking lot multiple times to help with parking and it was a bummer. But I will love this park forever. read more

We have been going to Los Gatos Meats a few blocks down for years and never noticed this cute park on the other side of the creek from Vasona. We had lunch at Loma Brewing downtown and walked the 15-20 minutes here. We rode the train ($4 per ticket for anyone 3 and up) and carousel ($4) and played in the playground before walking back. It is a popular park for outdoor birthday parties and play dates. They also sell bbq through Rotary Club. Our kid loved all of it! I love that it is super low key and casual and yet everything is super clean. The train ride is about 10 min so even if you wait, it isn't too bad. Came here with my partner for a 4th of July picnic, a special holiday event taking place this day, Los Gatos Symphony in the Park, featuring the San Jose Wind Symphony. We didn't stay long, but enjoyed our time here. Found relief from the hundred degree heat underneath the shade of one of the trees surrounding the park, and wandered through the large grassy field full of green. The park was definitely spacious with several unique elements, like the train chugging along Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad, an adorable classic carousel, and a US Air Force plane structure in the playground area near the parking lot, the country's first jet trainer, the Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star (T-bird). The park has a concession stand selling refreshments like hot dogs, string cheese, ice cream, coffee, and sno cones. And the special event had food truck offerings including bbq, mexican food, and kona ice beverages. I opted for the chicken & waffle sandwich from the Waffle Roost food truck, and it was a decent meal for lunch at this lovely park adjacent to Vasona Lake. read more

We used to really love this park, but about three weeks ago, something terrible happened during a playdate. My son ran toward the airplane play structure and came down the slope, crashing directly into one of the wings. The metal edge cut a deep hole on the bridge of his nose. We rushed to the ER -- the doctor had to close the wound in four layers, about 30-40 stitches in total. It was heartbreaking to watch. He lost a lot of blood, and the scar may never fully fade. We've spent around $5,000-$6,000 even after insurance, and he now needs daily scar care for at least a year. I'm writing this to warn other parents -- that airplane is dangerous. Please keep a very close eye on your children there. No family should have to experience something like this. read more

Came here on Thanksgiving morning for a walk and the parking lot was full. People were picnicing and bbqing for the holiday! Fun atmosphere! There is a path to walk around the green. Don't bother bringing your toddler to Oak Meadow Park to play unless you are going for the carousel or the train. All the unique and fun things for toddlers to play on are GONE!!! The jet is fenced off, display only (although the repairs that have been done look awful, so if it really is going to be a display, make it look nice!!!) and the train and fire truck are just plain gone. I have no doubt that negligent parents and greedy attorneys are largely responsible for this, I can't tell you how many times I have seen kids playing on the jet with no parents in sight (including AFTER it was fenced off!!) Yes, kids will get hurt if they are unsupervised, even on those boring molded plastic play structures you see everywhere.. My child spent many happy hours playing on those structures. Beloved, fire truck and mini train fixtures now gone in addition to plane already fenced off! All three have been there for over 60+ years! All fixtures are what made the park so special and such a big draw. Suspect because of one incident involving questionable lack of appropriate, parental supervision, all fixtures have now been removed. Such a shame that the town listens to one critical voice to bring about such drastic and irreparable change to what once was such a wonderful park for children. This park is a must! We got there at 9ish on a weekend and found parking, but it quickly filled up. Playground is right be parking lot, the. Huge green space with trail along creek that goes to restrooms and train/carousel. We got in line for tickets at 10:15, bought the tickets at 10:30 when they opened and were on riding the train by 10:45. The train ride was amazing to see back and get a view of nature and the pathways along the creek connecting to other parks. My 4 and 2 year old loved it! When we got off we walked straight on to the carousel which was an added bonus. Only thing to beware of is that there were tons of geese, so while there's lots of green open space, it's also covered in goose droppings. read more

I love this park! It's the smaller cousin of Vasona park which is right next door. I like it because they have a small trail that is convenient for a run with some shade and it's right on the LG trail. They have a nice lawn which is great when the weather is nice. This is the prettiest, most quaint spot in Los Gatos for you and your family to spread Covid. Taking a detour while exploring it's huge neighbor Vasona Lake Park, I thought we had stumbled into an anti-mask rally, but it's was just a few hoards of people ignoring the signs for social distancing and masks to enjoy basically a giant lawn that somehow seems huge and secluded, mainly due to the access points: one being a tiny, overlooked parking lot and another being a skinny wood bridge where tiny train tracks intersect the last mile of paved Los Gatos Creek Trail. Under normal circumstances this must be the most get-togethery park in miles, especially with the mini-railroad, carousel, and gazebo, but right now I recommend they put the vaccine in the be sprinkler system. read more

They have 9 reservable picnic tables for parties that is good for 25-50 people. There are not too many parks in the Bay that showcase either a mini train (Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad) or a carousel (The W.E. "Bill" Mason Carousel)! Brace yourself folks, this park showcases BOTH! Tickets are $2 per person / per ride, and kids 2 years old or younger ride for free! These two attractions alone makes this a 5 Star park! As you pull into the parking lot, there is typically pay a $6 fee, but there is not always an attendant there to collect. Not sure what the official ruling is on that, but it is usually enforced on the weekends. The park itself is very spacious, and has a very large open grass area where you can play football, volleyball, or anything else you choose. The grass is well kept, and the park overall is very well maintained. The play area is fully equipped with your standard play structures, but also has an airplane and firetruck that kids can't get enough of! Conclusion: * Great location * Clean and spacious * And you can even hop on a train or carousel before you head home! I just finished my exam. It is exactly midnight, my kid turns 2 officially. We were in Los Gatos for the majority of the day on Saturday. Since I am not holding a party celebration for him, I figured it would be nice and beneficial if I make the entire weekend about him. I have visited Vasona Park many times but never noticed this particular park before until my manager mentioned it to me sometime ago. Original plan was to take him to the CDM however, I read that it is closed until October 1st. This was by far a great alternative. We arrived shortly after 10AM. I can see that you can park for a small fee but seeing as how I'd like to minimize wasteful spendings, I parked on the street a few blocks from there - free. This playground is for children of all ages. There is a train for the climbers and expressive minds. I just taught him to say, "Choo choo" for the train so not only did he learn, he had a blast as well. There is a huge fire truck which children can climb on, pretend they are driving or hop in the back and jump like they're jumping beans. I didn't care to jump but I did pretend that I was a fire firefighter. There is a plane but it is taped off for unknown reasons. As I was about to head over there, a nice guy told me that it is off limits currently. I was bummed! I don't think my little one even noticed it because he was so into the train and the fire truck. He didn't bother w/ the swings. Two playgrounds, one for small children and one for children ages 5 and up. What is nice about this place is that it is clean, offers some shade, plenty of benches and grassy areas plus a water fountain. I am not one to drink out of those but my failure to bring water during an 8 mile run was evident that I'm an idiot. I must have taken half a gallon throughout the various water fountains at Vasona Park. Oak Meadow happens to be a great sector of this beautiful place. I will return. Where would you find that permanently in the bay except here? Running and bike path available. $6 parking but we parked in the street and walked in - fairly easy on a Sunday noon time. This was worth the trek down to Los Gatos for a playdate with one of my south bay friends. What a great park! $2 per ticket for the train ride (8 minutes!) and for the carousel. Kids two and under ride free. $2.50 for a jumbo hot dog and $1 each for popcorn or a small soda. And I appreciate the fact that I can actually GET a small soda... tired of 16 oz or more for everything. We got there early, and I'm told the lines get long for the train later (ticket counter opens at 10:30 on Sunday). Plenty of grass, shade and eating/grilling areas. Pets are welcome (on leash), and the sign says you can actually bring alcoholic bevs with a picnic lunch. The kids play area has an airplane to climb on, a train to play in, regular and baby swings, a sand and water play area, in addition to the standard play structure with tan bark. The bathrooms are well kept and well stocked. Really, it's got everything you could want in a relatively small area. Love it! read more

We packed up a picnic lunch and headed over to Oak Meadow park for fun. My son had such a good time running around, playing in the sand, swinging, and climbing all over the firetruck and airplane.
