They have locations also in LA and based on the flavors I tried today and the general vibe and aesthetic of the place. I can see why they've expanded. The gelato is absolutely addicting. Not sweet and the ingredients are definitely high quality. It's a good thing they let you taste test because all the flavors look amazing it's hard to limit yourself to even just two. As a starter try their sweet cream flavor and then go from there. Best gelato/ice cream I've had, period. We wanted a late snack after dinner and gladly found out this place opened just a month in the promenade. They also open late from 11am to 11pm. We tried a lot flavors and I pretty much loved everything. It's so hard to pick a favor cause every single flavor is super yummy and made fresh. I got the small Nutella coded cup with the hazelnut milk chocolate and strawberry cheese cake flavors. Both tasted so good and worked well with the Nutella coating. This place is gorgeous! It's bright and airy and vibrant. I came at a good time. Wednesday at 8pm. For a post dinner snack. This place stays open til 11pm which is perfect for a late night sweet tooth! There weren't many customers before me just a few scattered sitting at a few tables. But by the time I left, there was a line nearly out the door and I can clearly see why! We came here a few weeks ago with 4 of us for the fist time - all 4 of us were absolutely in awe; it was the best Gelato we've ever had and we've all been to Italy before!!! It was so good that we came back the next night and we've been there the last 2 weekends since. It's our favorite weekly craving now. I hope the owner of this location takes note of this review only because I feel it's important. My mother has Celiac (Gluten Allergy) and went in to get gelato this afternoon. She informed the server that she had an allergy and was told there was a chance of cross contamination but that their gelatos were made without gluten. My mom avoided anything that had cookie in the name but choose Pistachio Crunch. Here's the issue: crunch can mean anything. It can mean cookie, it can mean chocolate, it can mean nuts, etc. The flavor also had a thick layer of chocolate on top so you can't see what's possibly mixed into it and there are no indicators on the flavor cards to show what flavors are gluten free. She chose that flavor expecting that if there was something in there with gluten, the server would inform her since she did make them aware of her allergy upon stepping up to the counter. They didn't and the flavor seems to have bits of waffle cone mixed into it that she ate and is now unfortunately dealing with an allergic reaction. The gelato in general is delicious, but given what happened this afternoon I think allergens need to be taken more seriously here. It's not good enough that the staff simply says "there's a chance of cross contamination" but have no knowledge of what flavors have allergens to help steer customers away from flavors that contain something that will make them sick. I think there also needs to be indicators on the flavor cards (symbols for gluten, nuts, dairy, etc.) that can be a HUGE help for customers trying to avoid certain allergens if the staff isn't aware of what's in what flavor. Some allergies are mild but others are life threatening and it's so important to stay on top of that within the food industry. Please, add some kind of allergen indicator on the flavor cards and educate your staff better on what allergens are in what flavor or provide an ingredients list for them to reference if they're unsure. This was my first time at Bacio and it was crazy busy, however, One of the workers Lila helped me out so much regarding tasting each flavor despite me trying almost 8 flavors she was attentive and still very happy to serve me. No more having to drive to Century City for delicious gelato! My favorite flavors are the full hazelnut experience and Mousse di Pistachio. I'm having a difficult time thinking of what to say here. Typically, one writes a review based on the meal they ordered, but I tried almost everything they had here. I went in several weeks ago on a whim while window shopping around the promenade, because my wife wanted to go. Upon walking in, a man who I believe to be the manager greeted us kindly and informed us they were not charging for scoops that day. He asked if we had ever been in, and we both said no, and he went on an absolute tirade (i mean that in jest - he was a super nice, outgoing, and entertaining guy) about the restaurant, its history, the ice cream, their philosophy...just really cool. He and the employees encouraged us to keep trying different flavors, despite my protesting about not wanting to waste their time. I know we got lucky going there when they were doing their promotion, so they probably won't have someone at the door interacting with every customer coming in, but it was really cool. There is not much more to say about the ice cream except that it's some of the best I've ever had. I'm typically a fan of cookie/candy flavors rather than fruity flavors; but I absolutely fell in love with their Sweet Amarena, a sweet cream ice cream with a wild cherry compote on top. 10/10 for hospitality, service, and a great product.
