Authentic Italian Gelato, here in Moorpark! We were looking for a sweet treat for my hubby's bday and he loves gelato even more than ice cream so we came here last night. They have so many delicious handmade, fresh and innovative flavors as well as Italian staples like hazelnut, chocolate, pistachio and vanilla. They had vegan and Gluten Free options too that looked very good. After sampling pistachio, I had to have it. The other members of the family had mango, mint, stracciatella, and dulce de leche. Every single flavor was made of pure ingredients, not with artificial flavoring or coloring. It was just as good as being in Italy, or in any of the high end gelaterias in Little Italy SD! It was nice and clean inside and they even had a really cute little Vespa you can take pictures with ( not sitting on it;). The gelato is a bit pricy - $8 for a single scoop and it goes up from there, but given the quality of the ingredients, I think it is worth it to support a local business who is putting in the work and delivering quality. Owners are super sweet and clearly LOVE what they do. Every flavor is so good and made in small batches with care. They also have amazing coffee menu, cold treats for your pups and plenty of space inside to enjoy your order. Worth the drive, as they are located near Moorpark College and kinda hidden in the strip mall behind a Starbucks. BEST GELATO! We booked them for a grad party and were so impressed! It was a hit! ALL our guests loved it - the line felt like it never ended because so many went back for seconds! This one year old gelato spot near Moorpark College turned our good night into a great night. We had been at the college and drove into the plaza. So glad we did! The open sign was on but they'd closed an hour before at 8:30. The owner saw us, and waved us in! That is rare to see these days! My husband got his on a cone and I did one scoop cinnamon and 1 scoop almond in a cup. To go! There were tables inside. Yes, I got a wafer wedge on top making it pretty. It was so good! I liked the almond a little more but I'd get either again. My husband liked his Nutella. Next time, we're going to grab a ping to also take home. It was about $8 per person, but that's what I expect to pay. It's $5 at Mister Softee and that's soft serve! The inside of the shop is adorable. The Vespa is the best part. It's clear this was a passion project for the owner. And it does not miss a beat. What a great addition to this sleepy side of Moorpark! We all want to support small business. Located in a strip center at the entrance to Moorpark Community College, this is a VERY cute little gelato shop with a nod towards Italian decor. While they do make a good amount of flavors, they aren't all available at the same time. At first, I thought I might have difficulty finding two flavors that I wanted because I am used to selecting from more like 20 to 30 flavors at other gelato shops, but it was no problem at all. Half of the offered flavors here at Che Gelato were of a fruit/ice base (sorbetto), which I just wasn't in the mood for... but I definitely liked all the fruit flavors. That left about 8 to 10 gelato (cream-based) flavors, of which I chose Nutella and dulce de Leche. I usually opt for gelato in a cup, but this time, I got it in a handmade, gluten-free waffle cone. As with most gelato, this was so flavorful and creamy. Even the cone was delicious, very light and crunchy with good flavor. The scoop size was generous, and I almost didn't finish it because I got full, but then, I did find a way to devour it all. It just tasted so good !! I'm definitely looking forward to trying more flavors, but I could just as easily re-order the same flavors that I just had because they were so delicious. I wonder how often they change flavors. This is the best gelato I've ever had. I spent a month in Tuscany last year and this is hands down better than anything I had there. I had a scoop of mint and a scoop of stracciatella. BEST GELATO we've had in a long time! Even better than places in Italy that are marketed to tourists with food dyes and additives. The flavors tasted so clean, natural, and perfectly sweet. Gluten Free and Vegan options! We were able to have gluten free waffle cone (contains almonds) with ANY flavor of sorbetto! The sorbettos were so creamy, i couldn't believe they were vegan. The ratio of fruit must have been high. The sorbetto was creamy, not icy like many places. Their gelatos (contains dairy, and some have egg, just look at their menu) had the perfect level of sweetness and natural flavor. Their mint...tasted like fresh mint just picked, their strawberry was not bright pink but a muted maude color and tasted like pure strawberries. My fave was the chocolate chip. Honestly it tasted so pure - like just dairy and high quality chocolate that it didn't even feel like a guilty treat. The service was wonderful. A two person team, she was so helpful and kind to answer all our questions. Gave us plenty of samples. My family and I went on a Friday night at 8pm. The woman serving the gelato was rude. She seemed annoyed that we were there. The hours online said opened until 830pm. There were Italian flavors we've never heard of and asked what those were. These questions seemed to make the woman upset. My husband and sister ordered some gelato. They liked it. It was expensive. Because the woman seemed so bothered by our business, I decided to not get anything and will not be going back. I mentioned this to my MIL and she stated that the same woman was not very friendly when she went to use a coupon in the shop. If Che Gelato doesn't want customers on a hot evening, close earlier. After wine tasting at Cavaletti Vineyards in Moorpark, we were looking for a place to grab a gelato. We decided to skip the usual spot we go to and try something new: Che Gelato! What an amazing gelato shop, rivaling the best shops I've been to in Italy. Owners Roberto (very funny) and Natalie (very friendly) are true gems. They haven't missed a step, with lots of fun gelato inspired selfie opportunities in the store. While the ambiance and service is top notch, where they really shine is in the quality of the gelato. Using just natural, local ingredients, everything that we tasted was incredible. Among our favorite flavors (who can choose?) from my group were the pistachio, almond, and tiramisu gelatos as well as the mango and passionfruit sorbets. Delicious!!
